The name Clo-oose comes from the Nitinaht word 'tlu7uus which means "camping place." It is not clear when Clo-oose first became a permanent village. When the reserve was surveyed in 1892, there were seven houses and in 1906, John T. Walbran mentioned it by name in his book on British Columbia coast names: "Clo-oose, situated about a mile eastward of the entrance to Nitinat Lake, is ... the principal village in the neighbourhood". Prior to its establishment as a village, it served as a favourite resting spot for the native halibut fishermen.

The small First Nations village of Whyac lies on the southern lakeshore beside Nitinat Narrows and just north of the First Nations village of Clo-oose, also on the coast. The main volume of Nitinat Lake is salt water, with a thin layer of less dense fresh water floating on top.

It's unclear where the name Coos originated. Lewis and Clark noted Cook-koo-oose. Early maps and documents spelled it Kowes, Cowes, Coose, Koos, among others. Although exploration and trapping in the area occurred as early as 1828, the first European-American settlement was established at Empire City in 1853 by members of the Coos Bay Company; this is now part of Coos Bay, Oregon.

Their neighbors were Siuslauan, Kalapuyan, and the Umpqua Indians. The total population of Hanis and Miluk Coos in 1780 has been estimated to be around 2,000. On February 8, 1806 the Coos people were first mentioned by Euro-Americans. William Clark, wintering at Fort Clatsop near the Columbia with Meriwether Lewis and the Corp of Discovery, reported the existence of the "Cook-koo-oose nation".

The Entity-Control-Boundary approach finds its origin in Ivar Jacobson's use-case driven OOSE method published in 1992,. It was originally called Entity-Interface-Control (EIC) but very quickly the term "boundary" replaced "interface" in order to avoid the potential confusion with object-oriented programming language terminology. It is further developed in the Unified Process, which promotes the use of ECB in the analysis and design activities with the support of UML stereotypes. Agile modelling, and the ICONIX process elaborated on the top of ECB architecture pattern with robustness diagrams.

Clo-oose (tluu7uus in the Nuu-chah-nulth language) is a village of the Ditidaht people in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is located just southwest of the west end of Nitinat Lake in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, about south of Port Alberni. Its population is approximately 50BC Stats – Census 2001 and consists of members of the Ditidaht First Nation. The village is located entirely on Claoose Indian Reserve No. 4 but the name refers to the locality beyond the reserve also, which has in the past had non-native residents.

Riverside features covered by this parish are (from east to west) Buttermans Bay, Potter's Point, Downham Reach, Mulberry Middle and Pond Oose. Meanwhile, there were several failed attempts at development, including coal mining, fish canning, resort development in Clo-oose, and small-scale logging—the result of which are several abandoned donkey engines along the trail used to transfer logs down to the foreshore. Eventually the provincial government sold the timber rights but following advocacy by Sierra Club Canada and locals, the BC Parks branch placed a reserve, in 1964, around the trail which outdoor enthusiasts had continued using. With a national park being proposed at Long Beach, to which the federal government felt was too small by itself to be a national park, they were amenable to adding this trail.

In 1987, Ivar Jacobson presents the first article on use cases at the OOPSLA'87 conference. He describes how this technique was used at Ericson to capture and specify requirements of a system using textual, structural, and visual modeling techniques to drive object oriented analysis and design. Originally he had used the terms usage scenarios and usage case – the latter a direct translation of his Swedish term användningsfall – but found that neither of these terms sounded natural in English, and eventually he settled on use case. In 1992 he co-authors the book Object-Oriented Software Engineering - A Use Case Driven Approach, which laid the foundation of the OOSE system engineering method and helped to popularize use cases for capturing functional requirements, especially in software development.

UML has been evolving since the second half of the 1990s and has its roots in the object-oriented programming methods developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It is originally based on the notations of the Booch method, the object-modeling technique (OMT) and object-oriented software engineering (OOSE), which it has integrated into a single language. Cohoes Falls [Kahon:ios, Mohawk for "Canoe Falls"] is a waterfall on the Mohawk River shared by the city of Cohoes and the town of Waterford, New York. Discovered by the indigenous people, the falls were called Ga-ha-oose or Ga- ho'n'-yoos by the Mohawks, which is believed to mean "The Place of the Falling Canoe." Cohoes historian Arthur Masten wrote in his 1880 history that the phrase might mean "Potholes in the River," referring to the potholes that appear in the riverbed when it is dry. In the oral tradition of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), the Cohoes Falls are the site where The Great Peacemaker, performed a feat of supernatural strength, convincing the Mohawk people to become the founders of the Iroquois League of Nations or Confederacy.

Colette Rolland (1999) provides an example of a meta-process model which utilizes the instantiation and assembly technique. In the paper the approach is called "Multi-model view" and was applied on the CREWS-L'Ecritoire method. The CREWS-L'Ecritoire method represents a methodical approach for Requirements Engineering, "the part of the IS development that involves investigating problems and requirements of the users community and developing a specification of the future system, the so-called conceptual schema.". Besides the CREWS-L'Ecritoire approach, the multi-model view has served as a basis for representing: :(a) the three other requirements engineering approaches developed within the CREWS project, Real World Scenes approach, SAVRE approach for scenario exceptions discovery, and the scenario animation approach :(b) for integrating approaches one with the other and with the OOSE approach Furthermore, the CREWS-L'Ecritoire utilizes process models and meta- process models in order to achieve flexibility for the situation at hand.
