Iushenshen was an ancient Egyptian town in the Coptic nome in Upper Egypt. It is a few times mentioned in Ancient Egyptian sources. According to the Ramesside Onomastica the place was located south of Coptos. south of Coptos there is the modern town called Khozam where ancient monuments have been found, and it seems possible that Khozam was ancient Iushenshen.

Two other tombs bearing similar names, those of Inhetep (II) and Inhetepi, are also in the area. The venerated status of Nyuserre is evidenced in the onomastica of these buried individuals who took their names from Nyuserre's birth name, Ini. To the north of Nyuserre's monument is a cemetery split into two regions. The northwestern sector contains tombs built at the end of Nyuserre's reign.

Baal-tamar (“Lord of the Palm”) Ellicott's Commentary for Modern Readers on Judges 20, accessed 17 November 2016 is a place of uncertain identification near Gibeah, mentioned the Book of Judges () in the account of the battle between the Tribe of Benjamin and the other tribes of Israel. Eusebius (Onomastica Sacra, 238, § 75) knew Baaltamar under the name of "Beth- thamar";Also, Douai-Rheims Version, 1899 edition but at the present day it can not be located.

Returning to England, he enlisted in the Artists Rifles, but was invalided out in 1915. From 1915 to 1920 he worked as an assistant to Gardiner, primarily in the lexicographical work which led to the 1947 publication of Ancient Egyptian Onomastica. Of this period, Gardiner said: "He was a real Bohemian and much of his research was carried on in his own lodgings at dead of night." A series of articles written while working with Gardiner led to the publication, in 1924, of his major publication, Studies in Egyptian Syntax.
