In the first minute of the game, Daw marked the ball inside 50, and kicked his first AFL goal with his first AFL kick. Having established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the SCAC, DuBose and the 2007 Majors, led by a large group of seniors and returning starters, set their goals high, aiming to repeat as SCAC champions and gain another playoff berth. The season began on a sour note, however, when Millsaps suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of Mississippi College in the Backyard Brawl. League owners also decided not to apply the requirement of 20 "non-import" Canadian-raised players to the American squads after being advised that such a requirement would be a violation of US employment laws. The experiment started on a sour note, however, when an ownership dispute forced Benson to pull San Antonio out on the same evening the franchise was to be formally introduced. Anderson decided to continue with the venture after Bensons's withdrawal, but made clear that he did not want to be the only American franchise after 1993. The Gold Miners were placed in the very strong West Division and finished last with a record of 6–12.

Off the back of an impressive debut season, Mihocek was a walk-up starter for Collingwood, arguably the most important person in their forward line with his marking prowess, running and work-ethic great assets. As Collingwood struggled with injuries and suspensions to a host of their forwards, Mihocek's importance to Collingwood was underlined, as he played every game for the season and led Collingwood's goalkicking with 36 goals, including 5 bags of 4 goals. However his 2019 season would end on a sour note, just like Collingwood's, as he was completely shut out of the game in a wet scrap, only collecting 2 disposals in their loss to Greater Western Sydney. He also received 4 Brownlow Medal votes in 2019.

The Bucs followed up with important wins over their NFC South division rivals, sweeping both the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, as well as defeating the Panthers in a rare victory at Carolina. Even with a tough loss against the Chicago Bears and a humiliating shutout against the New England Patriots, the Bucs finished 11–5 and won the NFC South by virtue of a tie- breaker over the Panthers. The Bucs' 30th Anniversary season would end on a sour note, as they lost 17–10 at home to the Redskins in the wild-card round. A late Bucs touchdown could have tied the game, but the play was ruled incomplete when a booth review upheld the referee’s decision.
Terry upholds tradition by forging an alliance with Gotham City's police commissioner, Barbara Gordon, formerly Batgirl/Oracle and the daughter of James Gordon. The alliance starts out on a sour note, as Barbara never fails to take Terry's juvenile record into account and believes he is too reckless for the role of Batman. The fact that Terry occasionally ruins police stakeout operations by intervening without fully assessing the situation sometimes worsens their relationship. In addition to this, Barbara, actually the last of the Bat-Family to retire from vigilantism, revealed she and Bruce were romantically involved at one point, but his unwavering focus on his mission strained their relationship, thus having a new Batman appears to have opened up old wounds for her.
Alex Box was home to the Baton Rouge Red Sticks in the Evangeline Baseball League from 1946 to 1955. The final regular season series at Alex Box Stadium was played between LSU and Mississippi State University in 2008. It appeared that Alex Box stadium would close on a sour note for the Tigers, as LSU dropped Game 1 to UC Irvine 11–5, and in Game 2, LSU was three outs away from elimination, trailing 7–4 in the ninth inning.
Hurlock dropped down to the First Division to rejoin high-flying Millwall on 25 February 1994 on a free transfer. He had an ignominious return to action with the Lions, lasting just 9 minutes after being the first of three players sent off in a 0–0 draw with Leicester City on 6 March. Hurlock made 15 appearances during what remained of the 1993–94 season, helping the club to a third-place finish and a spot in the playoffs, but his season ended on a sour note after a 5–1 defeat on aggregate to Derby County in the semi- finals. Hurlock departed the club after the season and finished his Millwall career having made 138 appearances and scored 10 goals across his two spells.
The 1990s began on a sour note for the team, missing the playoffs for the first time in back-to-back years under the Tiger-Cats banner. By 1994, the team was in grave jeopardy; with the Buffalo Bills then in the midst of their run of four consecutive Super Bowl appearances and the Toronto Argonauts contending for the Grey Cup, almost all of the football attention in the Hamilton area had been sucked toward those two teams and away from the Tiger-Cats. Fewer than 6,000 season tickets were sold, prompting a threat from the CFL Commissioner Larry Smith to revoke the franchise if they did not both double the ticket sales for 1995 and raise C$1 million in corporate sponsorship. Both thresholds were met and exceeded.
The Eagles then won at NC State on January 30, 75–66. The winning streak came to an end when BC was confronted with two straight games against top-5 opponents. On February 16, No. 4 Maryland downed the Eagles 86-59; then the BC women fell again, losing to the No. 2 team in the country when North Carolina dropped Boston College on Tobacco Road, 69–62. The regular season ended on a sour note for Boston College as NC State and Florida State handed BC two more losses on February 24 and February 26 respectively, closing the regular season with four straight losses for the Eagles. The Boston College women stand at 19–11 overall (6–8 ACC) and are No. 25 in the coaches' poll as of March 7.
Mathieu Flamini became an unsung hero with a brace, the second of which was a volley from 20 yards, both goals on the other side of a Calum Chambers own goal. Arsenal, full of confidence after eliminating their rivals, visited the only unbeaten team in the league at the time, Leicester City, who were one point and one place above Arsenal. Despite a brace from Jamie Vardy, Walcott and Giroud scored either side of three goals from Sánchez, who ended a run of seven games without a goal. Arsenal ended their month on a sour note, however, as errors from second-choice goalkeeper David Ospina saw Arsenal lose 3–2 to Olympiacos at home in the Champions League, meaning they were bottom of their group with successive games against in-form Bayern Munich coming up.
The Kings finally answered back in game four with a 7–4 win. Game five in Boston saw a game where the Kings were badly out-shot, but in the words of Boston goalie Gerry Cheevers, "Vachon did everything but stand on his head to make great save after great save." The Kings ended up winning 3–1. Game six at home saw the Kings fall behind 3–0 only to tie the game in the third period, but the comeback would end on a sour note as Kings defenseman Dave Hutchison went to clear the puck on a Boston power play but broke his stick on the ice and turned the puck over; and Boston scored to win the game 4–3 and the series four games to two.
The Buccaneers followed up with important wins over their NFC South division rivals, sweeping both the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, as well as defeating the Panthers in a rare victory at Carolina. Even with a tough loss against the Chicago Bears and a humiliating shutout against the New England Patriots, the Bucs finished 11–5 and won the NFC South by virtue of a tie-breaker over the Panthers. The Buccaneers' 30th Anniversary season would end on a sour note, as they lost 17–10 at home to the Redskins in the wild-card round. An apparent late Bucs touchdown pass from Chris Simms to Edell Shepherd could have tied the game, but the play was ruled incomplete when a booth review upheld the referee's decision.

He was reunited with Warnock in 2002 after he joined Sheffield United where he spent much of his career and enjoyed notable success; performing in League Cup and FA Cup semi-finals, two play-off finals, and then promotion to the Premier League in 2005–06. Kenny would later sign for Warnock once again in 2010, joining Queens Park Rangers after his time at Sheffield United ended on a sour note when he spent much of his final season on the sidelines having failing a drugs test the previous summer.
Hartford started off February on a sour note, as they lost 12-3 against the Quebec Nordiques, setting a club record for goals allowed in a game. That loss was the first in a four-game losing streak. The Whalers snapped their losing streak with a 4-2 win over the defending Stanley Cup champions, the New York Islanders on the road. Hartford's Mark Johnson was the star of the game, as he recorded a hat trick. The Whalers won their next game, a 5-3 decision over the Toronto Maple Leafs to extend their winning streak to two. After a loss against the Los Angeles Kings by a 5-2 score, Hartford would defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-1, posting a 3-1-0 record in their past four games.

They played Oxford United on a Monday night in front of the Sky Sports cameras, and did themselves justice with a convincing 3–0 win, with both Ashley Vincent and Sam Morsy scoring impressive goals. An injury/suspension crisis in midfield then did little to prevent a patched up Vale side to come from behind to beat Gareth Ainsworth's Wycombe Wanderers 4–1. They then travelled to Staffordshire rivals Burton Albion, and battled to a 1–1 draw after falling behind to a fluke goal. The month ended on a sour note at Sixfields, as John McCombe was sent off after breaking the leg of Northampton Town goalscorer Alex Nicholls; injuries and suspensions left teenagers Joe Davis and Kingsley James to form a makeshift centre-back partnership, though the score was kept to a respectable 2–0.
At the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the Islanders traded Brewer, Josh Green and their second round selection (Brad Winchester) in the same draft to the Edmonton Oilers for Roman Hamrlík. Although surprised to be traded, Brewer was excited at the prospect of playing for the Oilers, who saw Brewer as a top-four defenceman. However, Brewer's Oiler career began on a sour note as he suffered a bruised left hip and tailbone in his first game with the team. Brewer missed the next four games before returning to the lineup. Brewer scored his first goal as an Oiler on November 7, 2000, against the New York Rangers. Brewer finished his first Oiler season with career highs in goals, assists and points, as well as the best plus/minus rating on the Oilers team, a plus-15.
After two full seasons with Boavista, Bosingwa signed with neighbouring FC Porto – coached by José Mourinho – for 2003–04. He was used sparingly in his first year, playing in only 13 Primeira Liga games; he made his UEFA Champions League debut on 16 September 2003 in a 1–1 away draw against FK Partizan, appearing in a further seven matches in the club's victorious campaign. Fully established as a right-back and Porto's first-choice since 2004–05, after the departures of Paulo Ferreira and veteran Carlos Secretário, Bosingwa was a vital element in the team's conquest of another three league titles in four years. The campaign ended on a sour note as, in May, he was at the wheel of his jeep when excess speed and wet road conditions led to a serious accident, with the vehicle skidding off the motorway and rolling down an embankment before bursting into flames.
Although Tottenham managed to reach four cup finals in four years and winning three of them from 1971 to 1974, the team began to decline as Nicholson was unable to sign the players he wanted, in part because of his refusal to meet the demands for under-the-counter payments. The early seventies was also the beginning of a period of increasing football violence; rioting by Spurs fans in Rotterdam in their loss to Feyenoord in the 1974 UEFA Cup Final added to his disillusionment. Nicholson resigned after a poor start to the 1974–75 season and a 4–0 loss to Middlesbrough in the League Cup, but his tenure ended on a sour note. He had sought to be succeeded by Blanchflower as manager and Johnny Giles as player-coach, but the chairman Sidney Wale was angered by Nicholson contacting the pair without informing him first.
On 16 September, Barcelona open their European campaign with a 1–1 draw against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, with the goal coming from Luis Suárez in the first half. The match ended on a sour note for the squad after Rafinha left the pitch on a stretcher with a leg injury after a tackle from Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan. The next day, the team released a statement that the player had tear the right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and is likely to miss the rest of the season. On 20 September, Barcelona defeated Levante at home by a 4–1 scoreline with a brace from Messi to stay undefeated in league. Three days later in Balaídos in Vigo, Barça were soundly defeated 4–1 by Celta de Vigo to suffer their first league defeat and drop out of first place in the table.
Coming off of their first winning season in 3 years, Michigan State began the 1965–66 season on a sour note, losing both games at Colorado College and then continued their losing streak with the first two games of a three-game series against ECAC Hockey opponents. The Spartans finally earned a win against St. Lawrence to finish their road trip 1–4. State opened their home schedule against North Dakota with a split which continued with the succeeding two series against Denver and CC. MSU met their first Big Ten opponent when Minnesota arrived in mid-January but after the Golden Gophers handed Amo Bessone's team two losses the Spartans were wallowing near the bottom of their conferece with a 3–7 record. The only bright spot for MSU was that the WCHA had accepted Minnesota–Duluth into the conference and, as a result, changed the playoff format so all 8 teams would be included regardless of their records.
The Brewers opened June on a sour note, dropping three out of four games to the Florida Marlins at Land Shark Stadium, but rebounded in the next series and won two out of three against the Atlanta Braves. Following a poor outing on June 1 in which he failed to retire any of the six batters he faced, Jorge Julio was released; Mike Burns was called up to take Julio's spot in the bullpen. In 15 appearances for the Brewers, Julio went 1–1 with a 7.79 ERA in innings. The Brewers returned to Miller Park on June 9 but suffered a 1–5 homestand in which the team was swept by Colorado and lost two out of three against the Chicago White Sox. After giving up 6 runs in innings in the second game of the White Sox series, Manny Parra was demoted to Triple-A Nashville; in 13 appearances through June 13, Parra went 3–8 with a 7.52 ERA.
1994–95 proved to be Bates' best season – paired with Barry Ashby in central defence, he won the club's Player of the Year award, but his season ended on a sour note after he failed to convert a penalty in a playoff semi-final shootout to the eventually-promoted club Huddersfield Town. A forgettable 1995–96 season followed (though a run to the fourth round of the FA Cup proved to be a bright point, in addition to a testimonial at the end of the season) and things came together again in 1996–97, with Bates making 45 appearances and scoring two goals as Brentford reached the 1997 Second Division play-off final. Once again Bates' season ended in heartbreak after a 1–0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra at Wembley Stadium. Bates improved his appearance tally to 47 in the 1997–98 season, but a disastrous campaign saw the Bees relegated to the Third Division on the final day.
In a match televised on ITV, Brentford twice took the lead through a quick-reaction Marcello Trotta finish and a Harry Forrester penalty, but the Premier League side ensured a replay when Fernando Torres pulled the score back to 2–2 with seven minutes remaining. Brentford were comfortably beaten 4–0 at Stamford Bridge in the replay and the match ended on a sour note when Chelsea defender David Luiz's "sickening" late shoulder charge on Bees midfielder Jake Reeves went unpunished and left Reeves concussed. Brentford's form in League One had suffered a little with the distraction of the Chelsea FA Cup matches in late January and early February, but the Bees rose back into the automatic promotion places for the first time since mid-December after a 1–0 victory over Preston North End at Griffin Park on 16 March. The loan signing of Charlton Athletic's Bradley Wright-Phillips, though not fully fit, helped relieve the tired strikeforce of Clayton Donaldson and Marcello Trotta.
Gundersen rode for the Cradley Heathens from 1979 until 1989 when he almost died in a racing accident. He began his career at Cradley with Bruce Penhall but after Penhall's premature retirement in 1982, Gundersen became the club's number one rider – a position he held until his crash.Foster, P. (2003) Heathens: Cradley Heath Speedway 1977-1996, The History Press Ltd. Gundersen first appeared in the Speedway World Championship Final in 1981 at Wembley Stadium where in front of 92,500 fans he finished 4th with 11 points. On the night he set a new 4 lap record for the track of 66.8 seconds, a record that will stand forever as this was the last time that speedway was raced at the famous venue. His 1982 title chase ended on a sour note when he failed to qualify for the final held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after finishing a surprising 16th and last in the 1982 Intercontinental Final in Sweden.
As an 18-year-old developing forward Tredrea found his opportunities for senior football limited, with his largely anonymous debut in Round 2 against Essendon being his sole outing for the Power in 1997. During this time Tredrea managed 16 games for 16 goals with Port Adelaide back in the local league, ending his year on a sour note with a steady performance in the Magpies' defeat to Norwood in the 1997 SANFL Grand Final. After showing glimpses of his ability in the first six rounds of the 1998 AFL season, Tredrea exploded in Round 7 against Carlton at Optus Oval. A simply stunning performance reaped 22 disposals, 17 marks, eight goals (a club record), three Brownlow Medal votes and an AFL Rising Star nomination. His starring role in the 89-point win came at a cost however, with a dislocated kneecap suffered late in the final quarter keeping him out until Round 13.
The six-game winning streak put them a half-game ahead of the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East Division for the first time since April 3. Despite getting Madson back from his brief disabled-list stint on May 31, optioning fellow right-handed reliever Trevor Gott to Syracuse to make room on the active roster, the Nationals finished the month on a sour note as they were denied their twentieth victory of May by Sean Newcomb and the Atlanta Braves, who defeated Washington starter Tanner Roark in a 4–2 game at SunTrust Park to retake first place in the National League East. The Nationals thus finished May in second, a half-game behind Atlanta, with a 19–7 record for the month and a 32–23 record overall. All told, they recorded seven series wins in the month, four of them sweeps: a four-game sweep of the Pirates that began in April, another four-game sweep of the Diamondbacks, and back-to-back sweeps of three-game series against the Marlins and Orioles.
Eddie Rips Up the World Tour was a concert tour by Iron Maiden in 2005 based on bringing back rarities from the first four Iron Maiden albums for the younger audience (Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind), brought about by the band's 2004 DVD The History of Iron Maiden – Part 1: The Early Days. The tour saw the band headlining several stadiums and festivals throughout Europe, with the concert at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden on 9 July being broadcast live in full on both Swedish national television and radio, and co-headlining with Black Sabbath for the majority of the North American Ozzfest tour. The final date of the US segment of the tour (Hyundai Pavilion in San Bernardino, California on 20 August 2005) ended on a sour note. Throughout the tour, vocalist Bruce Dickinson reportedly made several comments about reality television, the widespread use of autocue by current bands and the fact that Iron Maiden had headlined several dates of the tour (due to Ozzy Osbourne's illness), to which Osbourne's wife, Sharon, took offence.

Koestler (1941), Darkness, pp. 9–10. Imprisoned, Rubashov is at first relieved to be finished with the anxiety of dread during mass arrests. He is expecting to be kept in solitary confinement until he is shot. He begins to communicate with No. 402, the man in the adjacent cell, by using a tap code. Unlike Rubashov, No. 402 is not an intellectual, but rather a Tsarist army officer, who hates Communists. Their relationship begins on a sour note as No. 402 expresses delight at Rubashov's political misfortune; however No. 402 has non-political urges too, and when he pleads for Rubashov to give him details about the last time he slept with a woman, once Rubashov does so No. 402 warms up to him. The two grow closer over time and exchange information about the prison and its inmates.Koestler (1941), Darkness, pp. 25–30 Rubashov thinks of the Old Bolsheviks, Number One, and the Marxist interpretation of history. Throughout the novel Rubashov, Ivanov, and Gletkin speculate about historical processes and how individuals and groups are affected by them. Each hopes that, no matter how vile his actions may seem to their contemporaries, history will eventually absolve them.
On December 8, 2016, South Carolina offensive line coach Shawn Elliott accepted the head coaching position at Georgia State, causing the Panthers to start the 2017 season with a new head coach and in the newly acquired Georgia State Stadium. Elliott had coached under Steve Spurrier and Will Muschamp in Columbia and had served as the Gamecocks interim head coach between Spurrier's resignation and Muschamp's hiring. Elliott signed a five-year contract with Georgia State that paid him a base salary of $515,000 annually. The Panthers finished 7–5 in 2017. They began the season on a sour note; dropping a 17–10 game to FCS opponent Tennessee State and a 56–0 shutout to #5 Penn State. Elliott's team won its first game of the season in their third contest, defeating Charlotte by a shutout score of 28–0. Georgia State was scheduled to play Memphis on September 30, but due to the Tigers having to reschedule American Athletic Conference opponent UCF for September 30 due to Hurricane Irma, the game between the Tigers and Panthers was canceled. On October 7, Georgia State defeated Coastal Carolina by a margin of 27–21.
Jake Moug was by far Spokane's dominant player, scoring 11 of their 25 goals himself, while Ben Funkhouser contributed 4 assists. Things went from bad to worse for Spokane in 2008. Despite the appointment of new head coach Abbas Faridnia, the Spiders lost their first game of the campaign 3–0 at home to Yakima Reds; their next game was an impressive 5–2 win over Tacoma Tide on 'neutral territory' in Idaho which saw Jay Vela score a brace; unfortunately, this was the high point of the season. Spokane took just eight points the entire rest of the season – a 1–1 tie with Cascade Surge, a battling 3–2 win over Yakima again, a 3–3 tie with Abbotsford Mariners, and a surprising 3–0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps Residency at home in their penultimate match of the season. Everything else was a struggle – Tacoma made up for their early season defeat with a 5–0 walloping at the end of May, Yakima put five past them in late June, and Cascade ended Spokane's season on a sour note with another 5-goal drubbing in the final game. Spokane were rooted to the bottom of the Northwest Division for much of the campaign, and finished three points adrift of Cascade in 8th place.
Salfi entered the college ranks with St. Lawrence University in 1960. He joined the varsity ice hockey team as a sophomore (a standard practice at the time) and helped the Saints win the first ECAC Hockey conference tournament in 1962. Their season ended on a sour note, however, as St. Lawrence dropped both NCAA tournament games by a combined score of 11–2. The following season Salfi's team posted an even better record but lost in the ECAC semifinal and were left out of the national tournament. For his senior season Salfi served as team co-Captain with Alfred Bloomer but the team slid back in the standings, finishing 14th in the conference but were ranked 7th due to their strength of schedule. The Saints upset #2 Army in the first round before dropping Tri-State League rival Rensselaer in the semifinal. Though Salfi's team fell in the final to Providence their appearance in the final should have made them the at-large selection for the #2 eastern seed, however, their record was 13-10-2 and the NCAA selection committee decided on 17-7 Rensselaer instead. After graduating that spring Salfi received a surprising offer to coach the Penn Quakers despite his sparse résumé.
