Stevenage Borough were formed in 1976 following the bankruptcy of Stevenage Athletic. Chairman Keith Berners, and "a number of like-minded volunteers" were tasked with arranging a team to play Hitchin Town Youth at Broadhall Way in November 1976, as a "curtain-raiser" for the new club. However, the Broadhall Way pitch was subsequently dug up for non-footballing purposes after Stevenage Borough Council sold the land to a local businessman, who dug a trench across the full length of the pitch to ensure no football was played. Peppard F.C. was a football team based in Rotherfield Peppard, Oxfordshire. Success then was harder to come by, and by 2002 the club's future was in grave danger and they had quit the Hellenic Football League at the end of the 2002–03 season. The club had tried to improve its facilities for many years; in 1994 their basic railed-off pitch had denied them the chance of promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division.

It received its premiere on 15 October 1886 in St. Petersburg's Kononov Hall, performed by the orchestra of the Russian Symphony Concerts. Rimsky- Korsakov conducted the performance himself, and gives the following account of it in his memoirs, Chronicle of My Musical Life (1909): > The orchestration of A Night on Bald Mountain, which had baffled me so long, > was finished for the concerts of [the 1886/87] season, and the piece, given > by me at the first concert in a manner that could not be improved upon, was > demanded again and again with unanimity. After an inauspicious start to his Test career, Warne revolutionised cricket thinking with his mastery of leg spin, which many cricket followers had come to regard as a dying art due to its immense difficulty of execution. For all his on-pitch and off-pitch controversies, Warne's place in cricketing posterity has been assured by the fact that he has overturned the domination of cricket by fast bowling that had prevailed for two decades before his debut. Despite the presence of high quality spin bowlers such as the Indian spin quartet of the 1970s or Abdul Qadir on the Test scene, Australia's fast bowlers Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson had dominated cricket in the early 1970s. Furthermore, from 1976 until the early 1990s, the West Indies had lost only one (ill-tempered and controversial) Test series with a bowling attack almost exclusively comprising fast bowlers. In the early 1990s, with the West Indies on the wane, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram of Pakistan were assuming the mantle of the world's most feared bowling combination.

85 allowed the club to invest in a two-stage ground improvement programme. The first stage extended the terrace covering on the Trinity Road side at the cost of £887; the second cost £1,300 and involved re-laying all terracing around the track to remedy a design flaw that caused poor sightlines for the majority of the crowd. In 1911, Villa bought the freehold of the ground for £8,250, the office buildings in the old aquarium and car park area for £1,500 and the carriage drive and bowling green for £2,000. This was the first stage in plans drawn up by Villa director Frederick Rinder that saw the capacity of Villa Park increased to 104,000.Inglis, Simon (1997) p.102 In June 1914, another phase of enhancements began at Villa Park to compete with improvements at other grounds around the country, including Everton's Goodison Park, where a new two-tiered stand had just been completed. The first stage of improvements saw the cycling track removed, new banking at the Holte Hotel End (Holte End), and a re-profiling of all the terracing to bring it closer to the newly squared-off pitch.

Ireland failed to qualify for Euro 92, despite going through their group unbeaten. Aldridge scored 3 times in qualification, all 3 goals coming in Ireland's opening 5–0 win over Turkey at Lansdowne Road. Despite this setback, Aldridge helped Ireland to qualify for the 1994 World Cup: he scored 6 times in qualifying including a hat-trick in a 4–0 win over Latvia. Aldridge's international career with Ireland is also remembered for an off-pitch incident at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Trailing 2–0 to Mexico in a group game in Orlando, Florida, manager Charlton tried to send Aldridge on as a substitute but was delayed by a perceived sluggishness from the officials. Manager and player both launched expletive-laden tirades which were clearly heard by television viewers, with Aldridge having to be restrained from attacking the 4th official and a FIFA representative. Both were punished after the game, but when Aldridge finally was allowed on, after 6 full minutes of trying, he scored a goal to give Ireland a chance to get back into the game. Despite losing the game 2–1, Aldridge's goal was crucial in securing qualification for the second round.

Conference National under Chris Brass in 2003–04. York player Neil Thompson took over as caretaker manager, but he was unable to avoid relegation to the Third Division, after a defeat on the last day of 1998–99. He was appointed permanently in May 1999, but was dismissed in February 2000 with York 21st in the table. Former Hull City manager Terry Dolan was appointed and he led York clear of relegation in 1999–2000. Despite off-pitch problems at the club, York were in an automatic promotion place by late-March 2003, before finishing 10th in 2002–03. York player Chris Brass was appointed player-manager in June 2003; aged 27, this made him the youngest managerial appointment in the Football League since 1946. Having been 10th in the table in January 2004, York went 20 matches without a win and were relegated to the Conference National after 2003–04, which brought to an end 75 years of Football League membership. Brass was dismissed in November 2004 with York fourth from bottom of the table, and his assistant Viv Busby took caretaker charge before the appointment of former Derby County coach Billy McEwan in February 2005.

When Eydie was first pitched this song by whomever she got the song from, she despised the song and did not want to record it originally, but her label forced her to record the song anyways, so when she went into the studio to record the song, she deliberately recorded a bad mediocre vocal performance of the song (even as going as far as deliberately singing an off pitch note towards the end of the song) and she did this with the hopes that her label would think her performance was so bad that they would never consider releasing the song as a single. Turns out she was wrong and this song was released as a single and it made the Top 10 and it became her biggest Top 40 hit she ever had. "Blame It on the Bossa Nova" was an international hit for Gormé, reaching 1 in Australia, South Africa and Sweden and 2 in Norway. In the UK the single reached 32\. Rendered in Spanish by Gormé as "Cúlpale a la bossa nova", the track sold 250,000 units in Spain and Latin America and 100,000 units in Italy.
