In May 2015, Airtasker raised $6.5 million in a round led by Shanghai-based Morning Crest Capital and the NRMA. Airtasker claimed to have 250,000 users and to process $15 million worth of tasks a year. In June 2016, Airtasker raised $22 million in a series B investment led by Seven West Media for a 15% stake. Airtasker claimed to have 600,000 community members and more than $40m annual transaction volume. In October 2017, Airtasker raised $33 million to enable the company to expand to Britain.

The NRMA men who refused to "go active" were derisively called "zombies" both in Canada and overseas. The "Zombies" were so-called because they were soldiers who could not fight in the war, making them like the reanimated corpses from Haitian mythology who were neither alive nor dead, but rather somewhere in-between.

Topic 3: The Conscription Crisis Besides Quebec, six largely French-Canadian ridings in New Brunswick and Ontario also voted "No", as did several German-speaking and Ukrainian- speaking ridings like Vegreville, Alberta, and Rosthern, Saskatchewan. King, who had expected all nine provinces to vote yes, was shocked by Quebec's "No" vote, and explained that henceforward his policy was now: "Not necessarily conscription, but conscription if necessary". RACA and the NRMA continued, nevertheless, to work together on issues of shared concern, such as continued lobbying for better roads. They shared the same solicitor, McCartney Abbott. In a joint initiative the Princes Highway was "blazed with a red colour trail".

Shoplifters are not comfortable with this attention and may go somewhere else where they can steal unnoticed. In a 2008 global study conducted by NRMA, it found shoplifters are 68 percent less likely to commit the offense if they are greeted immediately as they walk into the retail store. Some stores have an employee work at the fitting rooms. The employee will count how many clothes a person brings into the fitting rooms and ensure that they come out with the same number of clothes.

Sydney's Cross City Tunnel was predicted to fail before construction even began. In February 2002, a year before tunnelling commenced and four years before it ultimately fell into receivership due to low traffic volumes, Sydney traffic planner Michelle Zeibots told local media that the tunnel was incapable of carrying the volume of cars that the Transport Minister, Carl Scully had predicted. She said it was "physically impossible" for the tunnel to carry the predicted 95,000 cars each day. While the NRMA was enthusiastic about building the new motorway, Dr Zeibots was scathing.

In 2010 whilst in high school, both Riad Chikhani and Phillip Luu established Rune Gear, an online portal for the game RuneScape at the age of 14. They successfully sold the business at the age of 17 in order to focus on school. This portal motivated the pair to develop a similar business but for a wider variety of games, which would later become the GAMURS Group. The GAMURS Group began as a social network for gamers after joining the NRMA Jumpstart program run by the Slingshot Accelerator.

The combination of NRMA's continued financial success and ongoing board conflicts led to the proposal of demutualisation, first anticipating and then riding the wave of demutualisations that swept Australia in the 1990s. NRMA Insurance's financial success led to a surplus in funds which could not easily be distributed back to members. Insurance premium rebates to members had the effect of artificially and harmfully deflating the price for NRMA's insurance products. Demutualisation, whereby members exchanged membership rights for shares in a listed company, allowed funds to be distributed to members without affecting longer term product pricing.

Daley is of Irish Catholic background. He was educated at Marcellin College, Randwick, finishing in 1983. He spent 13 years as a Customs officer with the Australian Customs Service during which time he studied law at night. In 1998 having completed his legal studies he was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales as a legal practitioner and began to pursue a career as a lawyer, and worked for a year in a law firm in central Sydney before spending five years as a senior in-house lawyer with NRMA Motoring and Services.

He has also acted as Senior Counsel for the National President of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia. McCarthy is Senior Counsel for the Church of the Torres Strait, an indigenous church of former Anglicans and for the Anglican Catholic Church of Australia, both of which are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church under the Apostolic (Papal) Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus. McCarthy has appeared in cases in the High Court on native title, trade practices and electoral matters. He has also appeared in several cases in relation to the NRMA.

Worthy had the engineers dig trenches to make it impossible for vehicles to get through. The most unconventional method however, was having the engineers lay landmines on the back trails, with the trigger points set back about 50 yards, thus ensuring that no one would actually get hurt. The troops got the message though, as no one wanted to take any chances with a commander who mined roadways. The National Resources Mobilization Act (NRMA) of 1940 made military service compulsory for in-country service, but overseas service remained voluntary.

A substandard alignment at Victoria Creek south of was upgraded in 2012–13, as well as the Bega bypass. Realignments with associated new bridges are also proposed at Termeil Creek, some south of Ulladulla, and Dignams Creek, some south of Narooma. Current identified future projects are a bypass of Nowra-Bomaderry (definite route identified only for section south of Shoalhaven River), and a bypass of Ulladulla-Milton. In 2007 the NRMA claimed that the Princes Highway was a dangerous road with ten fatalities and 729 people injured on the highway between Sydney and the state border in 2006.

Following her 1996 defeat, she was touted as a candidate either for Paul Keating's federal seat of Blaxland or for Zammit's former state seat of Strathfield; neither eventuated, with Keating's support for his staffer Michael Hatton blocking her in Blaxland, and she specifically out a career in state politics. In 1996, she founded public affairs firm Probity International. In 1998, The Australian reported a corporate source saying of Easson: "People know that if you want anything from Labor you go to her.". Easson was elected to the board of NRMA on Nicholas Whitlam's ticket in October 1997, becoming deputy president in November 2000.

However Burrows slowed near the end, his engine reducing in power sufficiently to allow Whitehead to sweep by to take victory despite Burrows starting the race 15 minutes earlier. The initial release of official results attracted various protests and led to a recount, with some placings subsequently changed.John Medley, Bathurst - Cradle of Australian Motor Racing, page 27 Whitehead was awarded the RAC of Australia Cup and £250 prizemoney for winning the race. He also received £100, the NRMA Trophy and the title of Australian Road Racing Champion for achieving the fastest time and the Courtney and Bohlsen Cup for setting the fastest lap.

As in World War I, the number of volunteers began to run dry as the war dragged on. Mackenzie King had promised, like Borden, not to introduce conscription, though his position was somewhat ambiguous: as he declared to the House of Commons on June 10, 1942: "Not necessarily conscription but conscription if necessary." With rising pressure from the people, on June 21, 1940, King passed the National Resources Mobilization Act (NRMA) which gave the government the power to "call out every man in Canada for military training for the defence of Canada", and only Canada. Conscripts could not be sent overseas to fight.

The site was occupied by a number of organisations, including the newly formed NRMA from 1927–30 and F. W. Hughes from 1930.SCRA, 1982: 12-14 From 1980 negotiations proceeded with the private sector on proposals for mixed development and recycling on the land bounded by George, Grosvenor, Harrington and Essex Streets, known as Sites D5, D6 and D11. The agreement for the Grosvenor Place project was signed in June, 1983 involving the renovation of Royal Naval House and four adjacent buildings, including Federation Hall. Work on Grosvenor Place commenced in 1984 and was completed in 1988.

Strips of colour banded by white were painted on telegraph posts, fences and trees as part of a network of trails along State highways. The NRMA attended a 1925 meeting convened by RACA on traffic regulations, prior to a government traffic conference. Together with other motoring lobby groups, including the Motor Traders Association and Newcastle Automobile Club, they resolved to draft suggested reforms. Particular concerns included the need for a special traffic court, and a change to the "plethora of danger signs" that had appeared in the streets, accompanied by "frequently incomprehensible signals of police" at intersections.

The 6th, 7th and 8th Divisions were home defence divisions and contained a large number of troops conscripted under the National Resources Mobilization Act (NRMA) which by law could not serve "overseas". One brigade did go to the Aleutians in 1943 to fight the Japanese on the technicality that it was North American soil, though no contact with the enemy was made. In November 1944, on hearing that the government had decided to send conscripts overseas, a number of soldiers based in Terrace, British Columbia, mutinied. The Terrace Mutiny was the largest insurrection in Canadian military history.

Bathurst appeared for AWA Limited in Daniels v Anderson (1995) 37 NSWLR 438, a leading Australian case on the duties of non-executive directors. He was briefed by Dyson Heydon QC in Heydon v NRMA Ltd (2000) 51 NSWLR 1 in a successful appeal against a finding that Heydon was negligent in giving legal advice to the respondent company, an important case concerning a barrister's liability for professional advice. He appeared before the High Court of Australia in Peters (WA) Ltd v Petersville Ltd (2001) 205 CLR 126, a case which reviewed the scope of the common law doctrine of restraint of trade.

Holding a dual role, he was the NSW Transport Management Centre's project director responsible for establishing the new facility. In 2001, he commenced work as a senior executive with NRMA Motoring and Services. After a relatively short period ~ 2 years he set up his own private consultancy and delivered professional services to the transport, telecommunications, OH&S;, marketing and advertising industries. In amongst his continuous full-time service with the Australian army, Casuscelli has been an Army Reserve Signal Corp officer since 1978 having served in a range of appointments including officer commanding a Royal Australian Signal Corp unit.

As a corporate and securities law specialist he was involved in several important and complex Australian corporate cases: the 1995 Westpac Challenge Bank merger, the NRMA insurance demutualisation, Comalco's takeover of Rio Tinto and the Australian Stock Exchange demutualisation and self-listing which was a world first. Barrett has been noted for his commitment to legal education. From 1973 to 1974 and from 1976 to 1987 (when he left Australia to work in London), he was a part-time lecturer at the Sydney Law School of The University of Sydney. He was also a consultant to the Legal Workshop, Australian National University from 1973 to 1977.

Singleton has directed and chaired the NRMA, the Australian Consumers Council, the Council of the Australian National Gallery, the first Federal Presidency of MEAA, the journalists' union and the Executive of the International Federation of Journalists. Jane chaired the international aid agency ChildFund, was on the Executive of the Australian Council for International Aid and was CEO of the Australian Reproductive Health Alliance. She was also a member of the Independent Complaints Review Panel for the ABC. Most recently Jane was CEO and Director of the Sydney Peace Foundation, which awards Australia’s only international peace prize, and she continues her consultancy in advocacy and strategic advice.

In 2005, the Toga Group entered into a long-term agreement to manage Travelodge Hotels in Australia and New Zealand. In 2005, JF Meridian Trust expanded its operational and capital base by raising A$126.9 million, part of which would go to buy a half stake in the Travelodge Hotel chain with the joint deal involving NRMA as co-owner and the Toga Group as manager of the chain. JF Meridian Trust was later absorbed into Mirvac Group, growing its initial 8 hotels to 13 properties. In 2014, rights to the hotel brand in 22 markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region were acquired by Singaporean company ICP.

In May 1943, fully trained active personnel were transferred to depot for proceeding overseas, and partially trained sent to infantry Training Centres to complete training prior to going overseas. Fifteen of the new recruits who arrived the next month were National Resources Mobilisation Act (NRMA) men, who had been conscripted for service in Canada. In October, the Platoon was in Prince George, BC. Late in 1944, the need to free fit men for duty overseas was becoming desperate, and the need for coastal defence had abated. Cabinet approved the disbandment of the 6th Division, so that one infantry brigade group and two infantry brigades could be drawn from it.

The 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series was the twelfth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the twelfth series in which V8 Supercars contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship began on 21 February at the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide and concluded on 7 December at Oran Park Raceway. Filming locations included a soundstage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Landis Valley Museum (Lancaster County, PA) and a field in Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area, in Cecil County, Maryland, at a spot just east of Big Elk Creek and just south of the border with Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1998 the State of Maryland compiled a document that included a location-map and photographs of the buildings constructed for the film as they stood in Fair Hill NRMA. Filming also took place In Montgomery County PA, on the north side of the Schuylkill River within Valley Forge National Historical Park.Valley Forge NHP Special Use Permit Oct.

The station uses StationPlaylist Pro automation software for live-to-air broadcasting while using the Adobe Audition program for additional production and Studio one software for production. An Elan mixer, Lenovo on- air computer, Marantz & Denon CD players, and Bowers & Wilkins studio monitors make up the broadcast equipment used by the announcers in the studio. In August 2014, Ten FM was one of 92 groups across New South Wales to receive funding from a community grants scheme funded by NRMA. The station were expected to use the funding to purchase a back-up generator to ensure the station can operate in the event of a power failure.

The Auburn & District News was an English-language local community tabloid newspaper published by Levick & Son, at their office at 50 Auburn Road, Auburn in Sydney, Australia, and printed at their works at 31A Pitt Street, Sydney. The first issue was published on Thursday 15 August 1929 and circulated for free in the towns of Auburn, Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Silverwater and surrounding districts, with a guaranteed circulation of 6,000. Content included reports of Auburn Municipal Council and local community organisations, and information on radio broadcasting and motoring issues, with copy by the NRMA featured prominently. It is not known when the Auburn & District News ceased publication.

The Act permitted conscripts (known as "R men" or "zombies") to be used for home defence only and not to be deployed overseas. The "Zombies" were so-called because they were soldiers who could not fight overseas in the war, making them like the zombies of Haitian mythology who were neither dead nor alive, but rather somewhere in-between. In 1942, the Act was amended to remove the prohibition on conscripts serving outside Canada, and the first overseas campaign that NRMA recruits were subsequently involved in was the recapture of the island of Kiska in August 1943. Until November 1944, only those Canadians who had volunteered were sent elsewhere overseas.

An Ampol service station in Alice Springs the 1940s The Australian Motorists Petrol Company, simply known as Ampol, was incorporated by Sir William Gaston Walkley in 1936 in New South Wales. This was in response to Australians' concerns about perceived inequitable petrol pricing, and allegations of transfer pricing by foreign oil companies to limit their tax liabilities in Australia. Walkley, along with William O'Callaghan and George Hutchison, approached the NRMA and offered to help it form a company to market petrol. Whilst deciding not to officially sponsor an oil company, members of the NRMA's board sought investors. In early 1936, an advertisement was printed in the NRMA's periodical publicising the float of Ampol.

The subject site was demolished entirely between 1902 and 1915. Houses, shops and hotels were all cleared away and the residents either relocated in The Rocks area or moved away entirely. The work brought to a decisive end the residential history of the subject site. For the remainder of the twentieth century the archaeological site was leased to a variety of users including machinery and joinery workshops, the City Railway Workshops, motor garages, the NRMA and Department of Motor Transport and Tramways as a bus parking station, and later as a Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority commissioning the archaeological excavation and historical research that was undertaken on the site in the early- and mid-1990s.

Ten commenced broadcasting on 5 April 1965 after United Telecasters was granted a Sydney commercial broadcasting licence. Shareholders in United Telecasters included Amalgamated Wireless, Colonial Sugar Refining and Email with 14% each, Bank of New South Wales with 7.5% and the NRMA with 2.5%.AWA Group gets TV licence Daily Mirror 5 April 1963 page 1 TEN often lagged in the ratings behind the more established commercial channels TCN (Nine) and ATN (Seven) who had dominated viewing habits in Sydney for eight years. The turning point came in 1972 with the premiere of the raunchy soap opera series Number 96 which immediately lifted TEN's overall profile and helped raise the ailing network to No. 1 position by 1973.

At the same time demutualisation would address the perceived corporate governance issues that centred on the long- standing board conflict. For example, institutional shareholders (who out of necessity would become significant owners of the large, newly listed company) would likely enforce a greater level of rigour and discipline on the board of directors. However, demutualisation would give control away from individual members and to institutional investors, with the result that motorists' interests would have less representation in governance. When demutualisation was first proposed in 1994, conflict on the NRMA Board was described by an independent report as "of such magnitude and nature that it is debilitating to the organisation and potentially destructive".

In the twelve months to February 2014, between 400 and 500 cyclists used the cycleway at Merrenburn Avenue on an average weekday. In 2008 the NRMA called for the Epping Road segment of the cycleway to be scrapped, claiming that it registered 25 trips per day on this segment. Three years later in an academic study of use of the cycleway by cyclists and pedestrians front that on a peak day in November 2011 a total of 271 cyclists and 164 pedestrians were counted on the shared-use path at a set point on the southern side of Epping Road, east of the junction with Mowbray Road West; with a similar result some fourteen days later.

The Pennant Hills Road, a section of the Cumberland Highway (A28), is a major urban highway located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The road links the suburb of Wahroonga in the northeast, to the major central business district of Parramatta in the southwest. In 2015 NRMA members voted the Pennant Hills Road as the second worst road in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, with approximately 5,000 heavy vehicle movements per day. The NorthConnex, presently under construction and expected to open in 2020, will link the M2 Hills Motorway at with the Pacific Highway and Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga via a motorway tunnel that aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow along part of the Pennant Hills Road, reducing air and traffic pollution.

From the introduction of TV in 1956 until 1965 there were three television networks in Australia, the National Television Network (now the Nine Network), the Australian Television Network (now the Seven Network), and the public Australian Broadcasting Commission National Television Service. In the early 1960s, the Australian Government began canvassing the idea of licensing a third commercial television station in each capital city. This decision was seen by some as a way for the government to defuse growing public dissatisfaction with the dominance of imported overseas programming and the paucity of local content. The first of these third licences was granted to United Telecasters (a consortium of Amalgamated Wireless, Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Email, Bank of New South Wales and the NRMA) on 4 April 1963.

WestConnex has also received support from multiple third party organisations, such as the motoring lobby group the NRMA, which argued that it would help improve transport in Sydney's west, significantly reduce travel times and complete a plan from 1947. On 3 October 2012, press releases in support of the "missing motorway" were issued by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, Sydney Business Chamber, and the Sydney Airport Corporation. Lucy Turnbull , the chief commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission and wife of former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, voiced her support for the project albeit with concerns for the preservation of heritage sites in Haberfield, stating that the development needs to "strike the right balance between protecting our homes and heritage and building a Greater Sydney that will work well for future generations".

The 7th Canadian Infantry Division was an infantry division of the Canadian Army, mobilized in the spring of 1942 and assigned for home defence within Atlantic Command, during World War II. At the time it was assumed it would consist of volunteers and proceed overseas. By the summer of 1942 it became obvious that there would not be enough volunteers, so National Resource Mobilization Act (NRMA) conscripts were assigned to the regiments of the Division to bring their numbers up to war establishment strength. This meant that the Division could only be used for home defence, unless the Parliament of Canada ruled that conscripted men could be sent overseas. Two brigades were assembled in the early fall of 1942 in Camp Debert in Nova Scotia with the third at Camp Sussex in New Brunswick.

Important items that were considered when QBE made its proposal :IAG's short tail personal insurance products are distributed in Victoria under the RACV brand, via a distribution relationship and underwriting joint venture with RACV Limited. These products are distributed by RACV and manufactured by Insurance Manufacturers of Australia Pty Limited (IMA), which is 70% owned by IAG and 30% by RACV. If one of IMA's shareholders were to experience a change of control, the other has a pre-emptive right to acquire that shareholder's interest in IMA at market value. The duration of the arrangements governing RACV's distribution of RACV-branded products in Victoria would be a relevant factor in determining this market value (as would the duration of the arrangements governing IMA's reinsurance of NRMA-branded products in NSW and the ACT).

As part of the 2008 federal budget, money that the previous government had intended to spend on infrastructure during the 2008–09 budget year was instead placed into a fund while a newly created authority, Infrastructure Australia carried out studies to determine which projects should be funded and which should not. Despite making no budget allocation for the road in 2007, the Government of New South Wales described the road as "critical to regional development in the Lower Hunter". In their October 2008 submission to Infrastructure Australia, the NRMA also listed the road as one of four "Regional Road Infrastructure Priorities". The road was recommended as a "top priority" on an interim list of 94 high priority projects presented to the minister, Anthony Albanese by Infrastructure Australia on 19 December 2008.

On September 1, 1939, the Canadian Active Service Force (a corps-sized force of two divisions) was mobilized even though war was not declared by Canada until September 10, 1939. Only one division went overseas in December 1939, and the government hoped to follow a "limited liability" war policy. When France was invaded in May 1940, the Canadian government realized that would not be possible and mobilized three additional divisions, beginning their overseas employment in August 1940 with the dispatch of the 2nd Canadian Division (some units of which were deployed to Iceland and Newfoundland for garrison duty before moving to the UK). Canada also enacted the National Resources Mobilization Act in 1940, which among other things compelled men to serve in the military, though conscripts mobilized under the NRMA did not serve overseas until 1944.

Don Aitkin became well known in Australia in the 1970s, both as a widely read columnist in the now defunct National Times and as a television commentator. He is a columnist for The Australian Financial Review, and served for a year as Contributing Editor of Newsweek. In his youth a keen tennis and squash player (University Blue for Squash Racquets, 1964), he is now more interested in music and bushwalking. Born in 1937 in Sydney, he has spent more than half his life in Canberra, where he was a Councillor of the Canberra Business Council for nearly twelve years, and is an Honorary Ambassador for the ACT, the Chairman of the NRMA/ACT Road Safety Trust, the Chairman of the Cultural Facilities Corporation, the President of Pro Musica Inc, and a member of the Ministerial Tourism Advisory Council.

Don't be fooled by the plethora of brands There are a number of large companies that present themselves as providers of insurance or financial services, such as Coles, Woolworths, Australia Post, Myer, RACV, NRMA, among others, but which actually only sell insurance products of other companies under its brand name. Such companies at times describe themselves as insurance companies or as providers of financial services, but are better described as insurance retailers or insurance distributors. Such companies are generally not exposed to any insurance risks, but receive a commission (generally 10-20%) on the sale of these insurance products.The New Daily, 12 September 2018, The hidden companies behind Woolworths and Coles insurance Behind this apparent array of insurance providers and products, there are only a small number of companies that actually provide insurance, sometimes referred to as underwriters, some of which offer insurance products directly to the public.

Later, a new larger water supply dam was built on the Campbells River. Originally known as the Campbell River Dam scheme and later renamed the Ben Chifley Dam after the late Prime Minister Ben Chifley of Bathurst. It was opened in November 1956. The Ben Chifley Dam received a major storage upgrade designed to meet the cities needs to 2050; the work was completed in 2001 increasing the capacity by 30% to . An ambulance service commenced on 6 June 1925 with a new Hudson ambulance. A new ambulance station was opened 2 March 1929 and is still used by the NSW Ambulance Service. Motor cars were becoming common in the early 20th century and the need for road service patrols commenced in 1927, provided by the NRMA using a motorcycle/sidecar response vehicle. The early electronic media age arrived with the opening of commercial radio station 2BS on 1 January 1937.

The New McCulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art, 1054 In 1981 he received the Power Bequest Grant to study in Paris for six months. In 1985 he was awarded the Churchill Scholarship to study fresco painting in Italy, which he accepted, and spent a year or so back home, learning more tools of the trade.. He has been named one of the best painters in Australia. His commissions include the acclaimed Sydney Morning Herald mural Justelius, the Power Studio in the Cite University, five panel mural for the State Bank of NSW, Sydney Opera House Fresco sponsored by Toshiba P/L in 1992, commissioned by the Darling Harbour Star City Casino in 1997, and a five panel mural "Celebration of Life - A Picnic at Clontarf" commissioned by the NRMA in 1998. Today, he is celebrated for his sensuous, expressionistic colour, and a richness of input from his imagination and experience.

Proud has also been awarded numerous other prizes throughout his career including the Sydney Georges Art Prize, Melbourne 1976 (acquisition); La Trobe Valley Purchase Prize 1976; Coffs Harbour Art Purchase Prize 1977, George Crouch Golden Jubilee Invitation 1977, Ballarat; Darnell de Gruchy Purchase, Qld 1977; Gosford Art Prize in 1994.
