To the Editor: Re "Motherhood in the Age of Fear," by Kim Brooks (Sunday Review, July 29), about a mother charged with neglect for leaving her 4-year-old in a car alone for five minutes: Ms. Brooks's article does an excellent job of pointing out outrageous examples of state bullying of parents who make choices on raising their kids that fall outside conventional, albeit irrational, wisdom on what is or is not dangerous for children in the modern age.
