On 4 July 1946, Atule headed for the frozen north as a member of Operation Nanook. The purpose of this mission was to assist in the establishment of advanced weather stations in the Arctic regions and to aid in the planning and execution of more extensive naval operations in polar and sub-polar regions. In company with , , , , and Northwind, Atule was to transport supplies and passengers, conduct reconnaissance of proposed weather station sites, train personnel, and collect data on Arctic conditions. Atule rendezvoused with Northwind and Whitewood off the southwestern coast of Greenland on 11 July 1946 and put into Melville Bight, Baffin Bay, on 20 July, while a PBY Catalina reconnoitered Thule Harbor and the approaches to the harbor.

Her interior was decorated by Maison Jansen, the renowned French design firm whose clients included the John F. The Northwind Bangui Bay Project is located in the municipality of Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, at the north-west tip of Luzon island. Flagship Mountain () is a prominent, conical rock peak, high, surmounting the southern part of the large rock mass between Northwind Glacier and Atka Glacier in the Convoy Range of Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was named by the New Zealand Northern Survey Party of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1956–58) after the USS Glacier, flagship of the American convoy into McMurdo Sound in the 1956–57 season, and closely associated with the area in other years.

Granted his senior jockey's licence in 1927, he moved to Adelaide and was immediately successful, winning the South Australian jockey's premiership in his first season. Gentle Glacier () is a small glacier lobe, to the east and immediately below Forecastle Summit, which drains south into deglaciated Barnacle Valley in the Convoy Range of Victoria Land, Antarctica. Though a part of the Northwind Glacier – Fry Glacier system, this diminished glacier flows back into Barnacle Valley. The name was proposed by New Zealand geologist Christopher J. Burgess and describes the glacier, but also the excellent helicopter support provided to his 1976–77 field party by U.S. Navy helicopters, "Gentle" being their code name.

Greenville Valley () is the large mainly ice-free valley lying south of Elkhorn Ridge in the Convoy Range of Victoria Land, Antarctica. A lobe of the Northwind Glacier flows a short distance west into the mouth of the valley. Near the head of the valley the south wall is breached by the entrance to Merrell Valley. It was explored in 1957 by the New Zealand Northern Survey Party of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1956–58, and was named by them after the USNS Greenville Victory, a freighter in the main American convoy into McMurdo Sound in the 1956–57 season.

What is considered the last offensive action of the American Civil War happened in this area: the CSS Shenandoah fell upon a fleet of whalers working the waters near Alaska's Little Diomede Island and sank more than two dozen ships on June 22, 1865. This is chronicled in the book The Last Shot. In 1964, the U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker USCGC Northwind (WAGB-282) visited the rock, and installed an unmanned, propane-powered oceanographic station in order to measure water flows across the Bering Strait. The LCVP was later salvaged and the crew of the Martindale evacuated. Staten Island was dispatched to the Arctic Ocean on 7 July 1969 as an oceanographic research platform and escort vessel for supply operations. There she helped reach open water off Point Barrow on 7 September 1969, relieved Northwind on 22 September 1969 after that vessel suffered engine trouble, and assisted the Canadian icebreaker in escorting the tanker eastward through the Northwest Passage. Staten Island arrived in New York on 9 November 1969, and departed for Seattle on 9 December 1969 by way of the Panama Canal with stops in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Acapulco, Mexico.

As such, when Hector was born during an archaeological dig near Cairo, he was born without a soul, destined to be a vessel for the Silver Scarab, an agent of vengeance called forth by Hath-Set. To further anger Hector, his parents would frequently visit the city of Feithera and spend time with their godson Norda Cantrell (who would become Northwind). Although the two children would be playmates as well, Hector carried a grudge against Norda for his wings and the attention he got from Hector's parents. It turned out later that, as Hector had been prophesied to become an agent of Hath-Set, Norda's destiny would be to stop him.

Macdonald made a double transit from the east to west and returned west to east. During the rescue, John A. In 2004, the Toronto-based Etobicoke Kangaroos held footy development clinics at two local girls' schools; Bishop Strachan and St. Clement's School. The program culminated in the first all-female footy match played in Canada. The participation of senior women in Canadian footy grew dramatically during 2007, when the United States challenged Canada to a senior women's match preceding the Northwind versus Revolution game in Vancouver in August at Thunderbird Stadium in British Columbia. Later, the Finnish coastal defence ship was sunk by mines during Operation Northwind, a failed feint operation. Finnish submarines and surface forces repeatedly attacked Soviet convoys to and from Hanko but with limited success, due to both strong Soviet resistance and equipment failures. A report from Hanko told of a transport arriving with two unexploded Finnish torpedoes jutting from its hull. As naval bases at Riga and Liepāja were lost to German advances, the Soviet Navy withdrew to Tallinn, which was surrounded by the end of August, forcing the Soviets to conduct an evacuation by sea. During that period, she also supported United Nations (UN) actions in Korea, operating in support of the initial attempts to fight the North Korean advance; in the first UN counteroffensives in early 1951; and in the final phases of activity that preceded the armistice in the summer of 1953. Yancey was awarded three battle stars for her Korean War service. In December 1957, after having served continuously since 1944, Yancey was deactivated at San Francisco.

The Eye of Ra denied the Silver Scarab control and flew away, but the Scarab clung to it. Invoking the name of Thoth, Northwind was able to close the Eye of Ra, sending it away to sleep under the sands of Egypt and end its rampage, but Hector Hall was already dead. As Hector's destiny had overtaken him, so too had Norda's-he had grown aloof and distant after his training in Feithera, and now accepted his new role as spiritual leader of the Feitherans.

Passenger train service, which consisted of the Budd-RDC operated Cariboo Prospector and Whistler Northwind (Pacific starlight dinner train) trains, ended October 31, 2002. The service was unprofitable, allegedly owing to BC Rail's heavy dependence on their fleet of aging Budd Rail Diesel Cars (RDC), which were becoming increasingly expensive to keep in service. Critics of the closure, which seriously harmed tourism and community life in communities along the line, maintain that the service was deliberately underfunded and mismanaged so as to lead to cancellation and pave the way for privatization.The Legislature Raids The RDCs have since been sold to various museums and operators around North America, (such as the Wilton Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire and the West Coast Railway Association in Squamish) Service between Seton Portage and Lillooet was replaced by a railbus.

Bangui Wind Farm is a wind farm in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. The wind farm uses 20 units of high Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines, arranged in a single row stretching along a nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea. Phase I of the NorthWind power project in Bangui Bay consisted of 15 of those wind turbines, each with a maximum production capacity of 1.65 MW of electric power, making a total of 24.75 MW. These 15 on-shore turbines are spaced apart, each high, with long blades, with a rotor diameter of and a wind swept area of . Phase II was completed on August 2008, and added five more of the same wind turbines, bringing the total maximum capacity to 33 MW.

Northwind was one of the icebreakers designed by Lieutenant Commander Edward Thiele of the United States Coast Guard (later rear admiral, and Engineer in Chief of the United States Coast Guard) and Gibbs & Cox of New York, who modeled them after plans for European icebreakers he obtained before the start of World War II. She was the fifth of seven completed ships of the of icebreakers operated by the United States Coast Guard. She was laid down on 20 July 1944 at Western Pipe and Steel Company shipyards in San Pedro, California, launched on 25 February 1945 and commissioned on 28 July 1945. Rear Admiral Ralph W. Dempwolf, Commander, 9th Coast Guard District presided over the ceremony with his wife, Mrs. Mabelle C. Dempwolf, serving as the sponsor.

In JSA #45 (2003), Black Adam and his teammate the Atom Smasher both defect from the Justice Society. During the next few issues, Adam forms his own organization, which administers justice the way Adam wants it: "an eye for an eye". His roster includes a mix of DC heroes and villains, including the Atom Smasher, Brainwave (who is possessed by Mister Mind), Northwind and the rest of the society of Feithera, Nemesis, and former JSA museum curator Alex Montez, the human host of the demon Eclipso. Adam's collective executes Kobra, a villain who has been acquitted by the legal system (albeit because his followers had threatened to blow themselves up if he was not released) when the JSA could have spared them his escape and the hassle of a trial by simply killing him when he was first captured.

The Philippines has the first windfarm in Southeast Asia. Located Northern part of the countries' biggest island Luzon, alongside the seashore of Bangui, Ilocos Norte. The wind farm uses 20 units of 70-metre (230 ft) high Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines, arranged on a single row stretching along a nine- kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay, facing the West Philippine Sea. Phase I of the NorthWind power project in Bangui Bay consists of 15 wind turbines, each capable of producing electricity up to a maximum capacity of 1.65 MW, for a total of 24.75 MW. The 15 on-shore turbines are spaced 326 metres (1,070 ft) apart, each 70 metres (230 ft) high, with 41 metres (135 ft) long blades, with a rotor diameter of 82 metres (269 ft) and a wind swept area of 5,281 square metres (56,840 sq ft).

Staten Island then broke ice to assist her sister ship, , twice during the 1967 fall ice season; in September 1967 Northwind lost a propeller and became locked in the ice, and she was trapped again in October–November 1967 north-northwest of Point Barrow, Alaska. During July and August 1968 Staten Island was assigned to conduct an oceanographic survey of the Chukchi Sea-Bering Strait area as part of a cooperative effort between the Coast Guard Oceanographic Unit, the University of Alaska and the University of Washington. On 10–11 March 1969, she attempted to assist in the salvage of the fishing vessel FV Martindale which had run aground off Akun Island. Disaster struck when her landing craft (LCVP) capsized while attempting to help pass a towline from the fishing vessel Dauntless to the Martindale, resulting in the death of her Deck Division Chief, BMC Elias Welch.

When Port entered the AFL, their senior team changed their club song to the original song Power To Win after their new nickname by Cold Chisel's Les Kaczmarek and Quentin Eyers, while their South Australian National Football League team kept their song. The East Fremantle Football Club, which plays in the West Australian Football League (WAFL/WAWFL), also uses the melody, with the words only slightly altered from the Swans version, including the East Fremantle club colours of blue and white. Launceston Football Club which plays in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) also uses the melody, again with the club colours of blue and white. On the international side, the Northern Lights (AFL Canada- National Women's team) and the Northwind (AFL Canada - National Men's team), who are competing at the AFL International Cup held in Melbourne every 3 years or at the Parallel Cup against the USAFL, also use the song, with the club's colours of red and white.

Following training at Camp Gruber and transport to Europe, the 42nd Infantry Division's three infantry regiments and a detachment of the division headquarters arrived at Marseille, France on December 8–9, 1944. These units were organized as Task Force Linden, under the command of Henning Linden, the brigadier general assigned as the 42nd Division's assistant division commander. As part of the Seventh Army's VI Corps, Task Force Linden entered combat in the vicinity of Strasbourg, relieving units of the 36th Infantry Division on December 24, 1944. While defending a 31-mile sector along the Rhine north and south of Strasbourg in January 1945, Task Force Linden repulsed a number of enemy counterattacks at Hatten and other locations during the German "Operation Northwind" offensive. At the headquarters of 1st Battalion, 242nd Infantry, Private First Class Vito R. Bertoldo waged a 48-hour defense of the battalion command post, for which he received the Medal of Honor. In February 1945, the full 42nd Division entered combat and took up defensive positions near Haguenau in the Hardt Forest.

In September 2016, AC Energy obtained a Retail Electricity Supplier's (RES) license, allowing to sell electricity to end-users in contestable market. It has entered into different agreements with various customers and end-users for the supply of over 100MW.

Rogilla when racing in Melbourne was stabled at Caulfield with trainer Cecil T Godby who trained the Caulfield Cup winners Purser 1924, Gaine Carrington 1933 and Northwind 1936. J.E.(Ted) Boadle proprietor 'Star Shoeing Forge' Hamilton, Newcastle was a master blacksmith and racecourse farrier for 33 years originally from Grafton was accredited with Rogilla's success to withstand racing over multiple seasons when shod with special bar shoes and raced in bar plates also accompanied trainer Les Haigh to Melbourne for the 1932 Caulfield Cup . Ted Boadle also put the first set of shoes on the champion Beauford best remembered for his historic clashes with the wonder horse Gloaming and in later years was secretary of the Newcastle Farriers Association for a 6-year period.
