Copernicus, a contemporary of Paul, attributed the failure to inaccuracies in measurements of the sun and moon and he focused his attention on collecting more accurate data. Accurate data about the vernal equinox required a large, dark space like a cathedral to measure a meridian line. A hole was cut into the roof of a cathedral and using a rod or line in the floor, they measured the time it took for a noon time image of the sun to return to the same place.

Makisig Morales (born December 22, 1996) appeared on the TV reality-show Little Big Star and is the delivery man of the boy band Mak and the Dudes. As a child actor, he played the lead role in the International Emmy-nominated fantaserye, Super Inggo. At the age of 5 Makisig Morales competed in the Duet Bulilit, a singing segment in MTB, noon-time variety show of ABS-CBN, together with his sister Mayumi. Morales later auditioned with his sister Mayumi and brother Vincent in Little Big Star - a TV singing contest of ABS-CBN, where only Makisig and Mayumi were accepted to compete with other contestants.

Occupy Cal occupied UC Berkeley's anthropology library for 3 days following cuts to library hours and resources. On January 19, 2012, following a noon-time rally by the larger Occupy Cal community, a group of roughly 100 students, faculty, and staff occupied the anthropology library and sent their demands to the administration. The non-violent study-in lasted 3 days and 2 nights, and involved several email exchanges between administration, and students and faculty. On January 21, 2012, the occupiers were notified by the administration that their demands would be met: library hours would be reinstated, and a replacement job would be created to achieve regular access to the library.

Prior to Spanish colonization, Sinukuan was known as a powerful male Kapampangan god, named Aring Sinukûan, who was in par with the Kapampangan god of Pinatubo, Apûng Malyari. The two were the second most powerful deities in Kapampangan mythology, next only to Mangechay (sometimes called Mangacha), the great elder and creator goddess. Aring Sinukûan was the sun god of war and death, taught the early inhabitants the industry of metallurgy, wood cutting, rice culture and waging war. He had three children, namely, Munag Sumalâ, the golden serpent god who represent dawn, Lakandanup, the god of gluttony who represented the sun at noon time, and Gatpanapun, the noble god who only knew pleasure and represented the afternoon.

On one occasion when Nag Mahasaya went to the Alambazar Math at noon time when the shrine to the master was closed after the midday meal, one of his brother disciples Swami Ramakrishnananda who was very strict in observing rules regarding service to the Master, himself broke the rules for Nag Mahasaya. In October 1973, then Commodore Espaldon received information that the so-called Magic Eight rebel commanders of the MNLF, composed of Abbas "Maas Bawang" Estino, Gerry Matba, Bagis Hassan, Ahmad Omar, Jairulla Abdurajak, Alih Abubakar and Tupay Loong, wanted to surrender to him, along with their 2,000 fighters. The show ran tremendously for three years and was adapted in motion picture release, Gimik: The Reunion in 1999, because of the outpouring on screen chemistry of Yan and Santos on Gimik the team up continued on television drama Mara Clara, he played the young medical intern named Derrick Gonzales. In the same year, Yan became a co host on 'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila, a noon time variety show where he had a portion called Ricollection. In 1997, Yan played the protagonist Gabriel Maglayon in successful primetime television drama Mula Sa Puso,Goodbye Corics by Dir.

In 2012 and 2013, the show went through a number of changes in broadcast time and in the makeup of the panel, ending up in the 7:30 prime time slot where it faced tough ratings competition against Alfombra Roja (Red Carpet) on Canal 13 and the blockbuster Somos los Carmona (We Are the Carmonas) on TVN. In September 2013, amidst rumors that the show would be canceled, it was rescheduled to the noon time slot, where it would face off against The Simpsons on Canal 13, as well as the top-rated entertainment talk show SQV on Chilevisión which traditionally had occupied that slot. A shakeup in July 2014 shifted the program format away from mostly opinion to include more investigation and reporting. As part of that, changes in staff were made including adding Karla Constant as host instead of Pamela Diaz and changing some panel members.

Her rising career in the network gave her many opportunities, such as guesting in various shows and even dedicating an episode for her in Star Confessions in which she shared her own life story. Before she got her major break in GMA Network, Abella made a number of roles as an extra in various shows for both TV5 and GMA Network; most notably in Madam Chairman, Carmela, 2½ Daddies, and Buena Familia where she was left uncredited and unknown for that time being. She briefly had her comedic acting stint in A1 Ko Sa 'Yo before she got her major supporting role in Calle Siete as Bonifacia "Bonnie" Suarez. Her biggest break in GMA Network was when she auditioned to be one of the cast members of the weekend noon-time variety show, Sunday PinaSaya where she shortly appeared as a guest before becoming a mainstay cast.

When the noon time slot became unfavorable in the late 1970s, networks began doubling up airings of their noon shows at 4p.m.. However, this time slot had also quickly become unfavorable as many stations chose to preempt network offerings in favor of more lucrative syndicated programs during this time, including nationally syndicated talk shows hosted by Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, Dinah Shore and Phil Donahue (all of which were primarily entertainment-focused with the exception of Donahue's which focused on serious subject matters including politics and cultural issues). As a result, the networks were faced with increasingly fewer affiliates airing network programs in this time slot and eventually abandoned this practice, with ABC canceling the soap opera Edge of Night at the end of 1984 and CBS ending production on Press Your Luck in the late summer of 1986, while the networks still continued to program occasional afterschool specials for children until 1996. During the 1980s, a slew of newer nationally syndicated talk shows made their debut, with the most prominent example being The Oprah Winfrey Show.
