Grimm, Schneider, and Fritz Platten were convicted for their involvement in the publication and dissemination of the pamphlet calling for the general strike. Specifically, the proclamation contained a call for soldiers to ignore orders to shoot workers. They were sentenced to six months in prison. Nobs was convicted because of a different text he published which was found to be subversive.

In 1971, Deep Purple decided to produce and record their album Machine Head in Montreux. The group was also scheduled to record at the Montreux Casino, shortly after Frank Zappa performed. During Zappa's concert, the venue caught fire and reduced the Casino to ashes. Nobs saved several young people who had hidden in the casino, thinking they would be sheltered from the flames.

The Montreux Jazz Festival opened on 18 June 1967 and was founded by Claude Nobs, Géo Voumard and René Langel with considerable help from Ahmet and Nesuhi Ertegun of Atlantic Records. Montreux Casino was built in 1881 and had modifications made to it in 1903. Throughout the twentieth century, the site played host to many great symphony orchestras and well-known conductors. By the late 1960s, jazz, blues and rock artists began to perform there. In 1967 the Casino became the venue for the Montreux Jazz Festival, which was the brainchild of music promoter Claude Nobs.

Later, Aretha Franklin made her first visit to Europe thanks to him. Fuzz-wah pedals normally come with at least two nobs, enabling the player to select either effect independently or together. When both are in use at once, the fuzz effect is always before the wah, allowing the wah-wah to process the richer harmonic content of the distorted sound and produce a vivid effect. In June 2006 Deep Purple headlined the Monsters of Rock festival at Milton Keynes Bowl (UK), in front of more than 30,000 people. Two weeks later the band played at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival (40th anniversary). A year after that, this show was released as a Live CD and DVD, called: They All Came Down To Montreux. The Montreux 2006 show included a jam session with Claude Nobs, several jazz/funky artists and a jazz version of Deep Purple's world hit Smoke on the Water.

The release of Questions and Varady's growing presence on YouTube brought him to the attention of Martin Taylor, Louis Stewart, Tommy Emmanuel, and later Quincy Jones. In 2011, when he was 13, he performed at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London and is the club's youngest headliner. Varady appeared on the front cover of Guitar Player magazine and at festivals in France, the UK and the South Pacific. In 2012 Varady was invited by Claude Nobs to perform at Montreux Jazz Festival as part of Quincy Jones's Global Gumbo, which Jones presented.

Kevin Closs (born 1963) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, Closs was raised on Manitoulin Island, and currently lives in the Onaping Falls neighbourhood of Sudbury. An independent recording artist since 1989, he works both as a solo performer and with his rock band The Nobs. Closs is best known for his song "Erica", a Canadian Top 40 hit in 1994 as well as his guitar arrangement of "O Canada" played as the daystarter on CBC Northern Ontario Radio. He has also toured as a supporting musician in Charlie Major's band.

The first UK pressing featured the band name and the Atlantic logo in turquoise. When it was switched to the orange print later that year, the turquoise-printed sleeve became a collector's item. The album cover gained further widespread attention when, at a February 1970 gig in Copenhagen, the band were billed as "the Nobs" as the result of a legal threat from aristocrat Eva von Zeppelin (a relative of the creator of the Zeppelin aircraft). Von Zeppelin, upon seeing the logo of the Hindenburg crashing in flames, threatened legal action over the concert taking place.

Around 18 November 1851, dead drunk, he fell into the fire in his hut and suffered fatal injuries. News of the discovery was published on 21 June in Adelaide newspapers, and the site was soon named The Monster Mine. A Special Survey of of August 1845 on the Burra Creek was drawn up, and which was expected to encompass any potential mine sites. Two parties tendered for the mineral rights: the Association and the Princess Royal Company (dubbed the "Nobs", these were much wealthier individuals), whose members were George F. Aston, George Frederick Aston (c. 1792 – 12 January 1875) returned to England around 1855, died at his home in St James's.

Prior to the 1850s, Nob Hill was called California Hill (after California Street, which climbs its steep eastern face), but was renamed after the Central Pacific Railroad's Big Four – known as the Nobs – who built their mansions on the hill. The area was settled in the rapid urbanization happening in the city in the late 19th century. Because of the views and its central position, it became an exclusive enclave of the rich and famous on the west coast who built large mansions in the neighborhood. Claude Nobs managed the recording trip, and is referred to as "Funky Claude" in "Smoke on the Water" "Highway Star" was written by Deep Purple while they were on a coach travelling to their opening UK tour date in Portsmouth on 13 September 1971. The band's management had arranged for them to travel to the gig with a group of music journalists, who could interview the band at their leisure. One of the journalists asked Blackmore how he wrote songs, upon which he said, "like this", picked up the guitar and played the song's opening riff. Gillan improvised a set of lyrics around: "We're on the road, we're a rock'n'roll band".

She spent the next few years trying to stop her new peers from killing her mortal boyfriend, Billy Zone, lead man for the Nobs, and winning the grudging respect of the European Council of vampires. Chastity returned to America in 1980, again traveling to Manhattan, where she became part of the burgeoning Goth scene. That Halloween she was surprised to see Jackie Slade enter a club she was in and murder apparently innocent musicians. Afterwards she went to the New York Public Library to do some research, and discovered that ever since he died in 1976, his ghost was reported to return each Halloween to slaughter musicians.

Stauffacher Stauffacher is a tram junction (lines 2, 3, 8, 9, 14) in Aussersihl, Zurich, next to the St. Jakob church, situated along the Badenerstrasse between the Bäcker and the Stauffacher streets. The tram stop was named after the street, which had been named for Werner Stauffacher in 1893. Stauffacher is officially just the name of the tram stop, not the square, and there was formerly a Stauffacherplatz some 200 m farther along the street towards the Sihl (named in 1898). Since the name of the tram stop induced common usage to associate Stauffacherplatz with the tram stop, leading to confusion with the actual Stauffacherplatz, the latter was renamed to Ernst-Nobs-Platz in 2003.

In 2010, Vollenweider gave concerts in Eastern and Western Europe. In June, he undertook a special concert project, which he titled The Watercourse Way, at the Shanghai Centre in Shanghai, China, as part of Expo 2010. A "Dream Concert" of the extended AVAF followed in August, as did the "Dancing With The Lion Orchestra" concert on the shore of Lake Zurich; it featured a gathering of Vollenweider's musical friends from all corners of the world. In 2011, three decades after his first concert, he accepted the invitation of Montreux Jazz Festival founder Claude Nobs to perform an exclusive jubilee concert, on 7 July, at the 45th such Festival, titled "30 Years Andreas Vollenweider & Friends".

Formed by the confluence of the Barkly River East Branch that drains a state forestry area of the Great Dividing Range from an elevation of near The Nobs Spur; and the Barkly River West Branch that drains Mount McDonald within the Alpine National Park at an elevation of , the Barkly River rises in remote country east of the Mount Skene Scenic Reserve, below Mount McKinty. The Popkomm Congress was an event where important industry issues were discussed, new developments were introduced and information was presented by international representatives of the business. For trade visitors there were panels with prominent figures and keynote speakers from the highest tiers of the music business. Figures such as Feargal Sharkey, former lead singer of the Undertones and chairman of the UK’s Live Music Forum, Gilberto Gil, world-famous musician and Minister of Culture of Popkomm’s partner country Brazil, Claude Nobs, founder of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival, and boy group impresario Lou Pearlman were all present at Popkomm 2006. In 2007 the main topics were digital music, live music, mobile entertainment and the creative industries.

The band was only able to lay down backing tracks for one song (based on Blackmore's riff and temporarily named "Title No.1"), before local police shut them down. He may have been the John Grainger who arrived in SA in September 1841 aboard the Lady Emma from Launceston. He was a significant buyer of land in South Australia, particularly in the Mitcham and Goolwa areas. He was, with Edward Stephens, C. H. Bagot, G. Tinline, G. F. Aston and others, investors ("The Nobs") in the "Princess Royal mine" of Burra, South Australia, which was never profitable, by contrast with the adjoining "Monster Mine" of the South Australian Mining Association ("Snobs") that repaid its investors handsomely. He purchased sections 1004 and 1287 in the Brownhill Creek region close to the old Mount Barker Road, where a small but profitable silver/lead/bismuth mine "Grainger Wheal" (or "Wheal Grainger") was established in 1848.

In 1994, Marc and Fernando Von Arb re- formed the band, and a Reunion Tour commenced with a reformed "One Vice At A Time " formation, but with Mané Maurer replacing Chris Von Rohr on bass, since he was busy producing Swiss Rockers Gotthard at that time. The turn-out for their Concerts was satisfying, so in 1995, Krokus released another studio album, To Rock or Not to Be. It went Gold. The year 2002 saw Krokus, with an altered line-up to that of the 1988 hiatus and 1994 return (basically with the DC World -AC/DC Tribute- line-up plus Fernando & Marc) releasing "Rock The Block". This was followed by one of their most extensive Tours of Europe so far, playing Swedenrock Festival and, on the personal invitation of the late great Claude Nobs (the same "funky Claude" in Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water":) the prestigious "Montreux Jazz Festival" too.

In 2007, he created and launched ShContemporary in Shanghai – the first internationally competitive contemporary top art fair in Asia, which was an important bridge between the Chinese / Asian and the Western art world, bringing together (leading) artists, galleries, collectors and curators from both sides, creating the necessary juxtaposition, cross-over and exchange between the two hemispheres; the fair was a crucial catalyst and booster for the Chinese and the Asian art market. In 2010 he founded Art Stage Singapore, Southeast Asia’s first international art fair which gave special importance to the region’s self-contained national art scenes, connected them, boosted the exchange between them and created a new Southeast Asian awareness and understanding; as a consequence new professional galleries, museums, private / corporate collections, art fairs, etc. emerged all over the region; the fair was Southeast Asia’s flagship event, opening for its artists, galleries, collectors and curators the door to the international art world and art market.
