Its most notable feature was St. Peter's Church which eventually fell into disrepair and was pulled down in the late 18th century, the foundations currently marked out in the ground at the site. Along with the lane and a no through road (Flawforth Ave), the placename variations live on in the names of present-day nearby farms.

Aike measuring approximately by , is a hamlet, locally known as a village, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The hamlet is centred around its single developed street, which lies to the east of the Yorkshire Wolds. Aike is approximately north of Beverley and on the west bank of the River Hull. It is approached by a lane which is a no-through road, as when exiting the village, the lane stops at the river where there is no bridge.

North Stoke is a village in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It is just over north of Arundel and south of Amberley railway station, and is at the end of a no through road from the station. St. Mary the Virgin parish church, whose dedication was rediscovered in 2007 The village is on a spur of slightly higher ground on the east bank of a loop of the River Arun, surrounded by water meadows. It is in the middle of the gap eroded through the South Downs by the River Arun.

The last short section of today's river, the Kanderschlucht or Kander canyon, is artificial, having been created as a result of the Kander Correction (see below). At the end of the canyon, the river flows into Lake Thun. Between Mülenen and Kandersteg, the river is followed by the Lötschberg railway line on its climb to the northern portal of the Lötschberg tunnel, which passes under the Gastertal on its way to Brig and the Rhone Valley. A road also follows the valley to Kandersteg and beyond into the Gastertal, but unlike the railway this is a dead-end, with no through road route across the mountains.

Curiously, the parish boundary runs along both these roads meaning the majority of the houses in the parish are at its very edge. After years in planning, a village sign was unveiled near Shingle Hill Corner on 27 September 2008. The Street is one of over 100 roads so named in Suffolk, typically reserved for the main thoroughfare through a 'street village'. The Street in Denham is unusual in that it is now a no-through road, though it is reasonable to suggest that at one time it was the main street for Denham, and presumably led somewhere, perhaps to Redlingfield to the south.

Park Drain was not considered, as there was no obvious population for it to serve. The site was located by a level crossing on the no-through road running from Idle Stop, a remote location on the north bank of the River Idle, to the Haxey to Blaxton Road. The tracks ran along the south bank of a Warping Drain, which was joined by the Snow Sewer to the east of the site. The line here ran in an east to west direction, and by 1886 there was a trailing siding to the east of the crossing, on the south side of the tracks, and another to the west on the north side of the tracks.
