But despite this abiding and seemingly all-consuming interest in cars, Gunnar Sjögren developed a profound and expert interest in many other fields. He was a nature lover who made it a habit to learn the Latin names of plants and flora and fauna that came his way - all of which he could depict in characteristic line drawings with great accuracy. He painted nature scenes and even dared to do so in oils. Since 1975 he was also a true philatelist who mounted his collection artistically and with informative explanations on sheets of his own design.

The park was named after Nisene Marks, a passionate nature lover and the mother of a Salinas farming family that purchased the land from lumber companies (and others) in the hopes of finding oil. After drilling efforts failed to find any oil, Marks' children donated the original of land in her memory to the state of California (with the help of the Nature Conservancy) in 1963. The California State Parks department, with additional help from the Save the Redwoods League, expanded the park to . The park is on land that was clearcut during a forty-year period of logging (1883–1923) by the Loma Prieta Lumber Company.

Her most popular feature was "Round the Year with Enid Blyton", which consisted of forty-eight articles covering aspects of natural history such as weather, pond life, how to plant a school garden and how to make a bird table. Among Blyton's other nature projects was her monthly "Country Letter" feature that appeared in The Nature Lover magazine in 1935. Sunny Stories was renamed Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories in January 1937, and served as a vehicle for the serialisation of Blyton's books. Her first Naughty Amelia Jane story, about an anti-heroine based on a doll owned by her daughter Gillian, was published in the magazine.

He feels the bank owes him for years of loyal and underpaid service and he decides to get even by robbing the safety deposit box of a mean-spirited local millionaire, Charles Merchant (Cleese). Merchant, who got rich from making infomercials and selling videotapes on how to get rich quickly on the real estate market, is the person that shot Jason's duck's mother, therefore making easier Jason's decision to rob Merchant's safety deposit box.

In the years 2003-2005 he was secretary general of the international governing body of the Nature Lover and responsible for the coordination of the networking process of 50 Members and partner alliances with 500.000 members worldwide. He was also involved at the conversion of the projects Landschaft des Jahres Lebuser Land in the German-Polish border region at Frankfurt (or) and Landschaft des Jahres Jura in the French-Swiss-border region Jura. In this capacity he was a member in the European Director-board at GREEN 9- the 9th biggest environment-movement in Europe: Greenpeace, WWF, Birdlife, Climate Action Network, Europäisches Umweltbüro, Epha Environment Network, Friends of the Earth, European Federation for Transport and Environment and Naturfreunde.

Her short Bara ett barn (Just a Child, 1980) depicts a young, unemployed woman, evoking her frequently repeated theme of women's work and their desire for creative fulfilment. Her collaboration with the photographer Lisa Hagstrand began in 1985 with Mötet med Flory describing the novelist Elin Wägner's encounter with the 82-year-old nature lover, Flory Gate. The Finnish artist Helene Schjerfbeck was the subject of the short documentary Nästa söndag ska jag måla en svart prick bättre (1987). Olofson was a board member of the film department of the Swedish Theatre Association (Teaterförbundet) from 1980 ti 1983 and a member of the Swedish Film Institute's feature film board from 1984 to 1987.

Also in the 1920s, as his fortunes grew, he created and financed the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research in Yonkers, New York (now at Cornell University in Ithaca), and the Boyce Thompson Arboretum on the property of the Picket Post House, west of Superior, Arizona. Boyce Thompson wrote: “I have in mind far more than mere botanical propagation. I hope to benefit the State and the Southwest by the addition of new products. A plant collection will be assembled which will be of interest not only to the nature lover and the plant student, but which will stress the practical side, as well to see if we cannot make these mesas, hillsides, and canyons far more productive and of more benefit to mankind.

Thereafter, Timmy never had another steady chum on the show though classmate Wilhelmina "Willy" Brewster (Linda Wrather, 1957–1961, daughter of the show's producers Jack Wrather and Bonita Granville Wrather), made several appearances. In 1959, veteran actor and comedian Andy Clyde was cast in the show's "grandfatherly" role of Cully Wilson, an eccentric farmer, nature lover, and Martin family neighbor. Timmy and Cully were scripted into many adventures together, and Cully became one of Timmy's several adult friends that included Fire Chief Ed Washburne (Dick Foran), veterinarian Doc Weaver (Arthur Space), telephone operator Jenny (Florence Lake), and Sheriff Miller (Robert Foulk). Cully was a hit and, as a result, producers curtailed Paul's presence in the series, fearing two adult males on the show would overwhelm the audience.

Fairhaven Bay Fairhaven Bay is a lake located within the Sudbury river in Concord, Massachusetts, United States (US). It was frequented by Henry David Thoreau who, together with Edward Hoar, accidentally set fire to the woods near the bay in April 1844, as later described in Thoreau's journal. In 1895, George Bradford Bartlett, ”well-known in connection with the Manse boathouse”, wrote of the cliffs near Fairhaven Bay on the Sudbury River: "For more than a hundred years these cliffs have been a favorite resort for the nature lover, and the climax of many a Sunday walk or autumnal holiday trip, as no better view can be had of the waving tree-tops and gentle river". To the North, the Bay is bordered by Wright Woods, owned by the Concord Land Conservation Trust.

Clyde was featured several times on Rory Calhoun's CBS western series The Texan, including the part of Wild Jack Hastings in "The Troubled Town" and in additional segments as the character Andy Miles. Clyde further guest-starred in such westerns as Wagon Train, Tales of the Texas Rangers, The Restless Gun, Jefferson Drum, Buckskin, Fury, Shotgun Slade, The Man from Blackhawk, and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp (as Billy Buckett). On Lassie, Clyde played the eccentric farmer and nature lover, Cully Wilson, the friend to Timmy Martin, portrayed by child actor Jon Provost, in much the same fashion as Burt Mustin was cast as Gus the fireman for Jerry Mathers in Leave It to Beaver. In The Real McCoys, Clyde performed as the foil for another veteran character actor, Walter Brennan.

The 2006 exhibition Nature Lover at the Katherine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects was initially shown under the title Sexual/Nature at Maison de la Culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal in Montréal, Québec in 2005. Partially inspired by Paul Vasey, a professor of psychology at the University of Lethbridge whose field of research includes animal homosexuality, the exhibition depicts a range of found photography of animals in nature from National Geographic magazines, lesbian pornography from On Our Backs, the first woman run pornographic magazine, and film stills from notable Hollywood movies during the Hays Code era. These images were cropped, combined, and reproduced as paintings in the series. One intention of the series is to call to attention how reductive scientific and societal understandings of sexual diversity are, as Anweiler says: > “[On sexual diversity]...because it didn’t fit into the nice paradigm of > evolutionary theory and heterosexual reproductive strategies they ignored > it, or they called it unnatural.” Also prevalent in the exhibition is a sense of nostalgia through the imagery itself and for the imagery of the 50s invoked through the films.

She was a frequent correspondent with the notable Australian writer and critic A. G. Stephens and contributed to his publications. She often wrote about the natural environment and Australian flora and fauna, and maintained a column, 'Bush Calendar,' for Stephens' magazine The Bookfellow between 1921 and 1922. She was described in 1930 as ‘a prominent nature lover.’ David G. Stead ‘The Merola or Currawong’ Sydney Mail 22 October 1930 p. 19 In 1920 she submitted her novel In Mulga Town for consideration in the Australian literary competition launched by C. J. De Garis. The Bookfellow claimed in 1920 that the book had been ‘picked’ in the competition,‘News and Notes’ The Bookfellow 15 February 1921, 5.The original misspells this name as ‘Wolla Miranda’ but it was not amongst the three prizewinners, and nor was it published by the C. J. De Garis Publishing House. Pavots de la Nuit was her first published novel, issued in French by the Parisian firm of Editions Sansot in 1922 and prepared in collaboration with Iann Karmor. Reviewing the book favourably, one columnist suggested that while its setting was undeniably Australian, ‘the characters, psychology and atmosphere remain Parisian’.‘Shorter Notices’ Daily Telegraph 26 May 1923 p. 14 The book appeared in English in 1930 as Poppies of the Night.
