The first game of the regular season came and it brought a loss which seemed to confirm the fans fears that the team was not as good as the ones in the previous season. The 2013–14 season had only 14 teams after CSS Giurgiu give up his place and CSM Bucuresti merge with new promoted team Steaua Bucharest resulting Steaua CSM EximBank Bucharest. Because of this situation no team will be relegated at the end of the season. Regarding the international competition SCM U Craiova will play in Balkan League (BIBL). CS Gaz Metan Medias, BC Mures and CSM Oradea would play in the EuroChallenge, and CSU Asesoft Ploiesti would play in the Eurocup.

The DVB-T transmitters were shut down since 1 September 2016, so only the DVB-T2 network remains on air. As of 1 October 2016, 85% of the population and 78% of the Romanian territory (as stated by the broadcaster) are covered by DVB-T2 signal. The 9 TV channels that are broadcast at the moment are produced by the national television: TVR HD + 8 SD channels TVR1, TVR2, TVR3, TVR Cluj, TVR Craiova, TVR Iasi, TVR Timișoara, TVR Tg Mures.

Bela Soos (, born Târgu Mureș, 6 March 1930died Frankfurt, 12 September 2007) was a Romanian chess player who was awarded the title of International Master in 1967. As a youth, he was a keen football player, representing Dinamo Bucharest during his military service.Gh. The Scottish Parliament is responsible for devolved matters such as education, health and justice, while reserved matters are dealt with by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The territory of what became Neilston anciently formed part of the Kingdom of Strathclyde. It has lain within the county boundaries of Renfrewshire from a very early time. Neilston emerged as a parish and administrative unit in 1170, and was for many years under the lordship of the Mures of Caldwell whose tombs are at the parish church.

Cantacuzino was, according to Horia Sima's later recollection, one of the most virulent speakers to appear before the congress. In 1936, Cantacuzino left with the legionary team led by General Gheorghe Cantacuzino-Grănicerul to fight in the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Franco-led Nationalist faction. He was later decorated with the "Red Cross" by Franco for his participation. On 17 May 1937, Cantacuzino was sentenced to one year in prison due to his role at the Târgu Mures Student Congress.

At the time of the Scottish Reformation, the Hospitallers' lands were surrendered to the Crown, but were returned by Mary, Queen of Scots to Sir James Sandilands, the last preceptor of the Hospitallers in Scotland. Capelrig was later acquired by the Mure family of Caldwell. The Mures sided with the Covenanters during the religious conflicts of the 17th century, and Capelrig was briefly taken by the Royalist General Tam Dalyell of the Binns. The family regained their lands upon the Glorious Revolution of 1688.

The Clock Tower of Sighișoara (, ) is the main entry point to the citadel, opposite guarded by Tailors' Tower. With its 64 meters of height, the tower is visible from almost every corner of the city from Mures County, its purpose was to defend the main gate of the citadel and also served as the town hall until 1556. Now It's considered one of the most expressive clock tower in the whole Transylvania.

Atanas Petrov () (born February 8, 1977 in Bulgaria) is a professional volleyball coach, who guided the professional volleyball women's team CSKA Sofia to many successes in the period 2003–2010 ( 5 titles, 3 national cups and many tournaments). At the same time he was coach of Junior's national team of Bulgaria for 7 years. He was the basis of the growth of the best volleyball generation of Bulgaria in recent 15 years. In the period 2010–2014 he was coach of the best teams in Romania (Dinamo Romprest, CSM Bucharest, CSU Targu Mures) and coach of Romanian woman's national team.

Buricea-Mlinarcic and Anca Rotescu), the first Romanian interdisciplinary magazine dedicated to the alternative theatrical movement, ultimaT (Targu Mures, from 1999–2000). Then, as a part of an independent theatrical group in Cluj, Teatrul Imposibil, she became the editor in chief of Man.In.Fest: Performing Culture Magazine, who became in 2006 an independent publication. Buricea-Mlinarcic - a complex group project, reuniting field research, anthropological analysis and theatre and film creation: the Everyday Life Drama Program.

M. Párducz (1956) and Z. Visy (1971) reported a concentration of Dacian-style finds in the Cris-Mures-Tisza region and in the Danube bend area near Budapest. These maps of finds remain valid today, but they have been complemented with additional finds that cover a wider area, particularly the interfluvial region between the Danube and Tisza. However, this interpretation has been invalidated by late 20th-century archaeology, which has discovered Sarmatian settlements and burial sites all over the Hungarian Plain on both sides of the Tisza e.g. Gyoma in south- eastern Hungary and Nyiregyhaza in north-eastern Hungary.

In September 2019, UMFST opened its first medical faculty in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld, Germany the form of University Targu Mures Medical Campus Hamburg (UMCH). Since 2019 a 6-year study program of human medicine has been offered on the campus in Hamburg, leading to an approbable degree. Since UMCH is a branch of a state-run Romanian university, admission is independent of school grades – contrary to other German universities. Theoretical lessons on the Hamburg campus are held in English. For the practical part from the 3rd academic year onwards, students go to one of UMCH’s teaching hospitals in Germany.

The chief investigator of this archaeological site is Dr. Cristian Popa of the 1 Decembrie 1918 University, Alba Iulia. The artefact collection from this site are housed at the university in Alba Iulia. This site is significant as it is the first flint mine or quarry found so far in the Transylvanian basin. Petrographic analysis of the flint materials found at this site link it to artifacts found at prehistoric sites from throughout the Mures Valley leading researchers to believe that this site may have served an important role in the commerce of the Chalcolithic and Bronze Age.

Son of a forester and a housewife from Bilbor, Harghita, Nuțiu attended the primary school from Cașva village, Mures county in 1938. In 1940, following the Dictate from Wien, he takes refuge in Blaj and settles in Reghin, in 1941, where he graduated the Pedagogical High School 'Petru Maior' in the end of the 40s. From 1951 to 1957, he studied at the Fine Arts Institute 'Ion Andreescu' in Cluj, with the professors Petru Feier and Teodor Harsia. Leon Vreme, Paul Sima, Mircea Balau, Vasile Pop Szilagy, Alexandru Cristea, Edwin Solomon and Sofia Kryzanowska were among his colleagues.

Blatt, King Michael I, and Queen Helen at Foisor Palace in Sinaia, 1940s After returning home, Blatt opened a private practice in Târgu Mureș. Marta Scheiner wife of Nicolae Blatt in 1930 In 1930 he married Marta Scheiner (1904–1972), a photographer and journalist, originally from Timișoara. In Tirgu Mures, Blatt performed a successful emergency retinal detachment surgery on a member of the Greek Royal family, a close relative of Queen Helen of Romania. As a result, in 1931 he was invited to move to Bucharest to serve as official ophthalmologist to the Romanian royal court.

The county has a total area of 7,754 km², representing 3.6% of national Romanian territory. The terrain of Arad County is divided into two distinct units that cover almost half of the county each. The eastern side of the county has a hilly to low mountainous terrain (Dealurile Lipovei, Munții Zărandului, Munții Codru Moma) and on the western side it's a plain zone consisting of the Arad Plain, Low Mures Plain, and The High Vinga Plain. Taking altitude into account we notice that it follows a stepped pattern as it drops as we go from the east to the west of the county from 1489 m to below 100 m.

Nearly all the birds living in The Mures Floodplain Natural Park are included in the annexes of the Bern Convention and the EU's Habitats Directive. Among them is the lesser spotted eagle (Aquila pomarina), whose numbers within the park are low, but which was chosen as symbol of the natural park. Approximately 200 species of birds live or pass through the park every year. Among these are: great cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo), black-crowned night-heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), grey heron (Ardea cinerea), mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus), Eurasian coot (Fulica atra), little bittern (Ixobrychus minutus), little grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis), water rail (Rallus aquaticus), European bee-eater (Merops apiaster).

As for the technique, it is noted that the bracelet from Targu Mures show a control of three-dimensional modeling, with silver inlays. There are two other bracelets of a similar type in the Transylvania Museum, though they are known to be discovered in Transylvania the original site is unknown. The religious meaning of the sacred horn had been lost over time, the circlets keeping this shape can only be described as decorative ornamentation. The bracelet found in 1817 at Vad–Fagaras (Brasov County) terminating with horse heads depicted as wearing a bridle, is part of the general trend of bracelets replacing the sacred horn as a motif.

The Cluj Derby began two decades before the two teams met in the format they are today. The regions known as Transylvania (including Crisana and Maramures) and Banat, on either side of the Mures river, were part of the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The first match in the town of Cluj(then named Kolozsvar, because Transylvania was part of Austria-Hungary) was between Kolozsvar Athletic Club (KAC) which established a football section in 1904 and KKAS (the Kolozsvar Commercial Academy Students' Sporting Circle, founded in 1905). They vied for the Eastern regional championship, the champion would play in a final against the winner in the Budapest group which had 11 teams.

The third time Breiðablik qualified to the European Women's Cup the name of the Competition had been changed to UEFA Women's Champion League and the season was 2010–11. Breiðablik came in as a second Icelandic team to the competition and had to play in the Qualifying round, group 4 along with FCF Juvisy Essonne from France, FC Targu Mures from Romania and FC Levadia Tallinn from Estonia. Breiðablik came in second in the qualifying round with 7 points like FCF Juvisy and was one of two teams to qualify to the main round of 32 teams.

The first evidence of Slavic assimilation by Proto-Romanians appeared with the 4th century. The settlements dated to the second half of the 1st millennium were concentrated in the northern part of Mures River, among them the one from Vladimirescu-Schanzen, dated in the 8th and 9th centuries, according to the examinations from archaeological discoveries. In the 10th century the Hungarians began their expansion in Transylvania, one of the main access routes being the valley of Mureş. Ruler Glad, under the threat of the Hungarian land-taking, built a fortress at Vladimirescu-Schanzen which was conquered and destroyed by the Hungarians in the middle of the tenth century. Another ruler, Achtum, rebuilt it but the fortress was once again destroyed in 1028 by another Hungarian attack.

In the course of the Second Dacian War (105-106 AD) Trajan also occupied the areas north of Mureș and incorporated them into the new province of Dacia Superior. On the territory of today's Cetate, the Roman army built a fort, which at first was probably occupied by a legionary exile. A civil settlement (vicus or canabae) soon developed in the vicinity of the fort, whose ancient name was passed down as Morisena ("Castrum iuxta Morisium" = fort on the Mures). The fort and settlement probably existed until the early 3rd century AD. The auxiliary cohort, probably stationed here later, was responsible for monitoring and securing the road connection from Micia to Partiscum, which ran northwest along the southern bank of the river Mureș.

He has worked with orchestras such as Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Philharmonisches Orchester Dortmund, Vlaams Radio Orkest, Lisboa Radio Orchestra, Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Vestjysk Symfoniorkester, Slovenian Philharmonic, Warsaw Radio Symphony Orchestra, Cadaques Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Tirgu Mures, Mikkelin Kaupungin Orkesteri, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, and Wiener Akademie. Since 2001, Zsolt Hamar has been the conductor of the Hungarian State Opera House. Hamar is constantly guest at international opera houses, as recently at the Teatro National de Sao Carlo in Lisbon with La traviata and at the Teatro Treviso with Don Giovanni.

According to local tales, the Târgu Mures statue was not officially destroyed – it simply disappeared overnight, without indication of where it went or what was done with it. All this occurred against a background of significant political upheaval, including the start and end of the Magyar Autonomous Region, De-Stalinization in Romania, and Romania's gradual distancing from the Warsaw pact. The event has entered public folklore, and to this day continues to be a subject of conversation and the source of several urban myths – for example, the popular idea that the state was originally meant to contain a library in its base (which is also a myth related to the Bucharest statue), or that the library was actually constructed, still currently exists. Some claim the statue is still stored inside.

In December 1989, Béla Markó became a founding member and vice-president of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania, from Mures, being elected as a member of the HDUR’s Presidium (1990-1991). For his dedication, professionalism, and medical achievements, he has been internationally endorsed, receiving teacher degree from the ISSO (International School of Surgical Oncology). For his extraordinary merits in liver surgery and organ transplants, he has been awarded with the "Romanian Star" (a prize of national distinction), the title of High Ranking Officer, the Romanian Academy's "Iuliu Hatieganu" Award (for his work on CD “Minimally- invasive Surgery. Advanced Techniques” made with C. Dragomirescu), a Merit Diploma from Health Ministry, and the Physicists College of Romania's 2001 Award for Outstanding Achievement for scientific activity in the field of surgical specialties.

The high hopes that were put into this team were in most part confirmed, performing very well in the domestic league. BC Mures qualified for the first time in the Final-Four of the Romanian Cup which was held in their home arena but they failed to use this advantage finishing 4th. Although the wins rolled in the team showcased some weaknesses which resulted in a few unexpected losses that put them in the 5th seed at the end of the regular season. Not securing the home court advantage came as a blow to the team as they simply could not gather the necessary energy and motivation to win a single game in a five-game series in the first round of the playoffs in front of the newly promoted CSA Steaua Turabo Bucuresti, therefore prematurely ending a season in which the fans and also the ownership were sure they would at least go past the first round of the playoffs.

Back to Europe again from the Chinese experience Wingate joined UJAP Quimper 29 a team playing in the French Basketball 2nd League. He only played 5 games here and averaged a career low 17 minutes, 6.6 points, 2.6 rebounds. Good things were about to happen for Wingate while visiting his wife who was playing volley-ball in Târgu Mureş, Romania, Wingate caught the attention of the local team's coach and soon from the crowd Wingate joined the action on the floor for BC Mureş a team in the Romanian Basketball Division A. Wingate played 19 games for Mures, with a career high average of 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, shooting 57.9% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. He fitted in well in the defensive oriented team and rapidly became the home crowds favorite because of his high-flying style of play which kept the crowd on the edge of their feet.

In the domestic league, Astra managed to impress. Despite having a poor start which included a severe 1–5 defeat from vice-champions ASA Targu Mures, the Astralii managed to finish the regular seasons champions. During this time, however, manager Marius Șumudică was convicted of betting on domestic matches, prompting his suspension by Romanian FA for the remainder of the season. On appeal, Șumudică managed to reduce his suspension to two months, and also begin to apply at the start of the 2016–17 Liga I. On 1 May 2016, after a draw between FC Steaua and Pandurii Tg. Jiu, Astra Giurgiu won the 2015–16 Liga I. This was Șumudică's first domestic title, and also made Giurgiu the 13th Romanian city to have won a national title, after Bucharest, Timișoara, Ploiești, Arad, Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Pitești, Oradea, Brașov, Reșița, Urziceni and Galați. Astra also later won the 2016 Supercup against CFR Cluj.

Although the previous season ended in disappointment it was still the best performance in the club's history until that point so the core players and coach Deri Csaba were brought back and a few important names were added such as Romanian big guy Virgil Stanescu. The successful acquisitions gave the ownership enough confidence to set the objective for the 2011–12 season to reaching the finals. The players no doubt put together a group that was one of the best in the league but they never quite managed to play as a team which led to a few disappointing losses, overall even though the players were better the team performed worse than the previous season which determined the ownership to fire coach Deri Csaba mid season and bring in Serbian Srecko Sekulovic. The coach change proved to be an inspired one as the team's play improved significantly, Sekulovic leading BC Mures to a number of firsts in the club's history and winning some games, notably away games, that not a lot of people expected.
