Around 1960 the Ogden-based Browning Arms Company found the need for a rural test-firing facility. They purchased a Mountain Green farm in 1961, and by 1968 Browning had relocated its executive offices, research and development, sales and data processing to the Morgan County location. Mountain Green Fire District A volunteer fire department called the Mountain Green Fire District was established here in July 1971. It was started due to a perceived need for faster response times than the county fire station some away in Morgan could provide.

Enterprise is located in the western part of Morgan Valley, along Interstate 84. Peterson is just to the west, across I-84 and the Weber River. Mountain Green is about to the northwest, and Morgan, the county seat, is some southeast. Most of the homes in Enterprise are clustered along the main street, Old Highway Road (part of the former Highway 30), which roughly parallels I-84 to the north on the benchland between Morgan and Mountain Green.

The settlement was named Mountain Green due to its abundant green grass. In 1877 the population was about 150, but a number of families left in fear of conflict with the Indians, and the 1880 census showed only 75 residents.

When Mormon pioneers began to arrive in Morgan County in the 1850s, they found a man named Ben Simon already in possession of the land in the Mountain Green area. The Mexican government had granted Simon the use of this land for grazing cattle, sometime before the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. He and his brother James had apparently been trading with the Shoshone in the vicinity for some 20 years. Such early settlers as George W. Higley and Gordon Beckstead moved to Mountain Green in the 1850s with permission from the Simons and the Native Americans.

The old Trappers Loop Road from the former Utah State Route 5 in Mountain Green to SR-39 near Huntsville was designated State Route 85 in 1935, and decommissioned in 1945. SR-167 was created in 1985 along the same road, from I-84 near Mountain Green to SR-39 south of Huntsville. At the same time, the Utah State Legislature allocated funding for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to reconstruct the route to state highway standards. Based on the preliminary studies prior to construction, it was decided that the new route alignment would be located one-half to one mile (1.6 km) west of the old road.

Mountain Green lies in Morgan Valley at the east end of lower Weber Canyon, just north of I-84 at the interchange with Utah State Route 167 (Trappers Loop). The community is located in the northwest corner of Morgan County, and includes the lowest point in the county.

As an unincorporated community, Mountain Green lacks official boundaries, so population estimates vary. An informal estimate in 2003 gave the population as 4,000, approximately half the total Morgan County population. As of the census of 2010, there were 2,309 people living in the CDP. There were 688 housing units.

Most of the area is covered by forest. In higher locations there are mountain green-fields and varied flora. Originally broadleaved and fir forests have been recently substituted by the spruce monoculture. Bare spots above the line of forests (about 1330 m) are overgrown with grass and locally with man-planted dwarf pines.

On the edge of the Arabia Mountain green space is the Arabia Mountain High School Academy of Engineering Medicine and Environmental Studies, opened August 2009. The Academy is a LEED-certified building and uses the "Environment as an Integrating Context for learning" (EIC) curriculum. The high school is connected to the nature preserve via a spur bicycle path.

The following spring, Weber's brigade traveled throughout extreme southeastern Idaho and northern Utah. A portion of the brigade, under the leadership of Johnson Gardner, confronted Peter Skene Ogden, the leader of Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) Snake Country Expedition near present-day Mountain Green, Utah. Gardner insisted that they were in United States territory. Ogden countered that the area in contention was under joint occupation.

In 1987, the route was realigned to this location, where the new road was under construction. The old road would continue to be operated and maintained by UDOT until 1989, when the new road had been completed and UDOT relinquished the road back to Morgan and Weber counties. In 1990, the route was extended from its southern terminus, westward to the eastbound Mountain Green Interchange off-ramp on I-84.

It has been used since antiquity as a pigment, and it is still used as such in artist paints, sometimes called verditer, green bice, or mountain green. Through his fence he meets a mysterious Mountain Green Bone, who gives Bero a submachine gun and tells him to use it to shoot up the gentleman's club Lan frequents. Lan accidentally takes an overdose of shine while visiting the club, and when Bero attacks him he falls into the sea and drowns. When Shae hears about his death she immediately goes to the bank where her jade is kept and puts it all back on. Hilo is now Pillar and she persuades him to strike back by reclaiming some disputed territory rather than launching an all-out attack on the Mountain.

In 1825, near the present-day community of Mountain Green, trappers of the British Hudson's Bay Company Snake Country Expedition, under the leadership of Peter Skene Ogden, had a confrontation with competing American trappers, under the leadership of Johnson Gardner. Gardner insisted that the British group was trespassing in United States Territory. Ogden kept the situation from becoming an international incident, although some of his men, including Canadian Antoine Godin, left his group to join Gardner. Emigrants travelling to California, including the Hudspeth, Bryant-Russell, and Young and Harlan parties, took the first wagons through Weber Canyon in 1846.

At 5:00 p.m. on September 19, a family traveling on a mountain road in Mountain Green, Utah (approximately from Sunset) stopped their vehicle at a turnout close to Trapper's Loop Road to let their children play at a nearby stream and throw rocks into the water. Close to a pile of brush, the children observed what they initially believed was a doll, partly covered in shrubbery floating at the edge of the stream. On closer inspection, the children realized the doll was actually the nude body of a female toddler with her hands bound behind her back.

Southbound SR-167, looking towards Mount Ogden The route begins at the interchange with I-84 just west of Mountain Green in Morgan County, and travels east for about , roughly parallel to I-84. At this point, the route makes a turn to the north, becoming Trappers Loop Road, which begins to climb into the mountains separating Weber Canyon and the Ogden Valley. After climbing for and peaking at in elevation, the route crosses into Weber County and passes SR-226, the primary access road for Snowbasin ski resort. From here, the route winds its way back downhill, to the north, making its way towards the Ogden Valley area.

Topography of the area around Greenside Mine, showing geological dykes and faults The entire production of the Greenside Mine came from a single mineral vein, which filled a north-south oriented fault running through the east ridge of the Green Side mountain. Green Side is composed of andesite rock, part of the Borrowdale Volcanic Group, formed during the Ordovician Period, roughly 450 million years ago. This rests on shales of the older Skiddaw Group, which were encountered in the lowest levels of the mine. A small dyke of porphyritic microgranite which has "a dog's-leg shape" in plan was intruded into these rocks during the Devonian Period; this formed a plane of weakness which controlled the position of the fault.

The present-day site of Mountain Green was the location of a historic meeting of three groups of mountain men in May 1825. Peter Skene Ogden, leading 58 trappers from the British Hudson's Bay Company, camped here on May 22, 1825. The next day, 25 American Rocky Mountain Fur Company trappers belonging to John Henry Weber's brigade arrived under the command of Johnson Gardner. Étienne Provost was also encamped in the area, with his own company of 15. On May 24, 1825 John Gray, a half-Iroquois leader of the freemen trappers who were dissatisfied with the conditions and pay under the Hudson’s Bay Company, declared their intention to leave Ogden’s brigade.
