Soon after that, the architect Melandri and the barkeeper Necchi join him at the retirement home and take part with him in playing pranks to the other elders.
Ray Byrne (born 16 July 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton, Collingwood and Geelong during his eleven-year career in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Byrne will be remembered as one of the most unfortunate players in the history of VFL/AFL football, as he turned out for two clubs in four Grand Finals, only to be on the losing side in each one of them (Carlton 1973, Collingwood 1979, 1980, 1981). At the time of his retirement Ray had played in 22 finals which at the time was the 6th most finals games in VFL History.
Donna Bowman of The A.V. Club gave the episode a B−. Max Nicholson of IGN said the episode explores some intriguing territory between Ted and Barney, while delivering a so-so story, and in the end he gave the episode a 6.7 out of 10. TV.com's Bill Kuchman said the episode was one of the "buzzkill episodes at the most unfortunate times" by pointing out recycled plot hooks from earlier in the season. Alan Sepinwall of Hitfix.com critiqued the episode as a "sampling" of problems that have appeared in the season at the expense of off-the-mark jokes.
There followed one season in Division 1 Södra in 1999 where the club finished in ninth position and were most unfortunate to be relegated at the end of the campaign as a result of league re-structuring. The club's confidence dipped in Division 2 Södra Götaland and a further relegation followed at the end of the 2001 season. However the club were promoted from Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland in 2002 after finishing in second place. Over the rest of the decade the club has played in Division 1 Södra and Division 2 Södra Götaland where they currently reside.
In the 2009 Vendée Globe, he lost his mast the day after a collision that occurred during the rescue of Jean Le Cam, whose boat had capsized. In the 2016 Vendée Globe, he sailed at a decent speed completing with front boats fitted with hydrofoils, but after 15 days 11 hours 58 minutes of racing and completing 27% of the whole race, he was forced to retire after another collision with a UFO. The almos exact same incident had happened to Vincent in the 2012 Vendée Globe with that he is easily one of the most unfortunate sailors of the Vendée Globe.
The Queensland Woollen Manufacturing Company was involved in this movement. In 1942 employee displeasure brimmed over into a major worker's strike in the woollen mill. To strike in the midst of a world war that enveloped all Australia was not seen in a favourable light by the general public, and the media sentiment at the time regarding the strike at the Queensland Woollen Manufacturing Company reflects this; rhetoric such as "War work held up" and "a most unfortunate stoppage in the supplies for the army" was used. The Queensland Woollen Manufacturing Company continued to have industrial disputes in 1943 and 1945.
In 1926, Legge was the Oxford captain and was top of the averages again, but his season was disrupted first by the General Strike, which caused matches to be abandoned, and then by his involvement in a car accident in which he injured his hand: "A most unfortunate affair," Wisden wrote. Legge had a taste for fast cars and was a member of the Oxford motor racing team, which was how the accident happened. He was recovered in time to lead his team in the University Match which was a low-scoring game won narrowly by Cambridge; Legge scored 14 and 16.
Williams owned a yacht named "Nomad" and after sailing around Europe, he returned to New Zealand and sold it to a man by the name of Curtis. As Curtis could not pay up front for the boat, Williams loaned him the money, with the boat being used as security for the loan. The choice of Curtis however turned out to be most unfortunate, as he was a drug smuggler who later became renowned as one of New Zealand's most infamous criminals. In 1979, soon after the sale, Curtis beached the yacht near Westport whilst smuggling drugs into the country.
Bauer did not handle the press accusations well, keeping silent when the press exposed his membership on the board of a Barmat company, and issuing a denial of any involvement in the affair in January 1925, after the arrest of the Barmat brothers. In particular, he denied any benefit by way of financial remuneration. This was a most unfortunate public statement for Bauer, because his opponents had specific documentary evidence that it was a lie. The first climax of the Prussian investigating commission took place in late January 1925, with Bauer, a prominent Social Democrat, giving evidence.
Other backers included downtown businessmen such as Isaac W. Lord and John Hollenbeck, who owned property near the terminus of the line at Second and Spring Streets. A beer garden resort, called City Park, was developed at the northeast corner of First and Lakeshore in order to draw more passengers to the line. In January, 1888, James McLaughlin paid $130,000 for the line and the beer garden, something which turned out to be a most unfortunate decision. By the spring of 1888 demand for lots had fallen off, but by then the Improvement Company had sold all but 52 of its lots.
Only Heber J. Grant, president of both the LDS church and Utah-Idaho, voted against this price increase. The company began charging 28 cents per pound by May 1, 1920, even though Utah's only other sugar company, Amalgamated Sugar Company, was charging the 13 cents per pound rate established by Palmer. One resident told Smoot this was "the most unfortunate occurrence that has ever happened in Utah affecting the faith of the Mormon people." Floyd T. Jackson of the Department of Justice filed a complaint, charging the Utah-Idaho company of profiteering, and obtaining "undue, exorbitant, immoderate, excessive and monstrous" profits on sugar.
That he chose not to do this is most unfortunate and > most disappointing. In May 2009, however, Sevele questioned the purpose of Fiji's suspension from the Forum (which had taken place on May 2) and suggested it was "pointless" to "ostracise" Fiji. TVNZ described Tonga's position as "a crack [...] in the hard line being taken against Fiji" by the Forum. In February 2011, Sevele's successor, Lord Tuʻivakanō, stated that Australia and New Zealand's pressure on Fiji was counter-productive and that the more they "bother[ed]" Bainimarama, the more likely he might be to do the opposite of what they sought.
This picture shows the time of execution of criminals Facundo Luna and Carlos Bejarano in the Preventive Jail, Correctional and Penitentiary Prison of Montevideo in 1892, later called the Prison of Miguelete. The executions were performed in presence of public in attendance and inmates in the prison yard. On the wall can be seen a Plato's quote: "The most unfortunate among all men is the one who does not know how to bear misfortunes". Capital punishment in Uruguay was abolished from its legal system in 1907 by Law N° 3238 passed during the government of president Claudio Williman and later removed from the constitutional system in 1918.
In Belgium the 15-year-old socialist Jean- Baptiste Sipido, a young tinsmith's apprentice, attempted to assassinate the Prince of Wales then passing through Brussels. The Manchester Guardian, Thursday April 5, 1900 He accused the Prince of causing the slaughter of thousands during the Boer War. Remarkably, in the following trial the Belgian jury found Sipido not guilty, despite the facts of the case being clear,Summarized by Speyer in "The Legal Aspects of the Sipido Case", Journal of the Society of Comparative Legislation 1900, p. 436. which the Leader of the British House of Commons called "a grave and most unfortunate miscarriage of justice"Speyer, p. 438.
The quarter-finals provided a shock as Yellow Printer went out in the most unfortunate circumstances when being knocked over at the third bend. The first semi-final saw Shady Parachute win in 28.62, five lengths clear of Winning Hope and Shady Begonia and become favourite for the event. The second semi-final produced drama at the third and fourth bends when the leading greyhounds slowed due to fighting which allowed Witches Smoke and El Campo to come from behind and take final places. Not Flashing, trained by Irishman Frank Cavlan, finished third relegating the royal dog Camira Flash to fourth and out of the competition.
Leader of Opposition in Loksabha, Sushma Swaraj condemned the attacks and termed it to be shocking and most unfortunate. Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that the Maoist-Naxalites had no faith whatsoever in the political system, democracy, electoral politics and constitutional values and all the talk of tribal welfare for them is a sham and is an excuse, and an alibi for perpetrating the violent overthrow of a democratic system. He said that Government shall "intensify" the development works in the 20–25 most affected districts. He also ruled out the possibility of talk with the Maoists stating that it was not the time to talk with them.
Fans of Aaliyah were reportedly grieving in New York City, where the singer had spent the first five years of her life before relocating to Detroit. Quincy Jones told the Associated Press that he was devastated by her death. Tourism minister Turnquest stated: "We find it devastating and most unfortunate that after having this world-famous star Aaliyah and her crew select the Bahamas as their choice location for her latest video, the project has climaxed on such a tragic note." Two days after she died, on August 27, 2001, fans gathered near her former high school to remember her in a candlelight vigil.
Falkland continued throughout his life to cultivate his literary tastes. An epitaph by him on Elizabeth, countess of Huntingdon, is given in Wilford's ‘Memorials.’ Among his papers was found ‘The History of the most unfortunate Prince, King Edward II, with choice political observations on him and his unhappy favourites, Gaveston and Spencer,’ which was published with a preface attributed to Sir James Harrington in 1680. Falkland was in the habit of ingeniously concealing the year of his age in a knot flourished beneath his name, a device by which he is said to have detected a forger who had failed to recognise its significance.
Critics of Roosevelt's actions believe they were motivated in part by racism.Greg Robinson, By Order of the President: FDR and the Internment of Japanese Ameericans (Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, 2001) In 1925 Roosevelt had written about Japanese immigration: "Californians have properly objected on the sound basic grounds that Japanese immigrants are not capable of assimilation into the American population... Anyone who has traveled in the Far East knows that the mingling of Asiatic blood with European and American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results". In 1944, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the legality of the executive order in the Korematsu v. United States case.
A product of the tour was a book by Fred Lillywhite, who travelled as scorer, entitled The English Cricketers' Trip to Canada and the United States and published in 1860. A reprint of the book was published in 1980 with an introduction by Robin Marlar, including biographies of all of the players. For the general growth of cricket in the United States, it was most unfortunate that this pioneering tour occurred only 18 months before the American Civil War began. If the war had not broken out, it is highly likely that two or three follow-up tours might have been arranged in the early 1860s, thus building on the interest created by the initial trip.
At the 1924 Paris Games, Seligman (57 years of age) was captain for a third time. In the first three rounds of the competition in the individual foil event, he won 12 of 13 matches and easily advanced to the finals. Unfortunately, according to the Olympic Games of 1924 British Report: "in the final pool of the individual foil event, he [Seligman] slipped in the course of his second fight and strained his leg, with the result that he was compelled to retire – a most unfortunate happening, since he had previously won his fight against Roger Ducret of France, the eventual Olympic winner." In Paris Seligman also managed to compete in the individual sabre and team foil events.
With the escalation of the Vietnam War, the Ohio Guard was again called upon to engage in combat upon foreign shores. Both the Ohio Army and Air National Guards deployed units to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. The mission to support state authorities still continued during this time with the Ohio Guard playing a key role in quelling a full- scale riot at the Ohio Penitentiary in 1968 and in helping to curb the violence associated with the trucker's strike in 1970. It was subsequent to this latter event that the Ohio Guard was involved in one of the most unfortunate events in its long history, the Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970.
Professor A., a human rights activist said that, one may not necessarily agree with the contents posted by the website but the blocking the website is unacceptable. The affected individuals are free to take legal action separately. P. Sundarajan, a lawyer opined that, this is most unfortunate, and the particular Judge should refrain himself from hearing the case because he was also written about by the website and this order is nothing but a mockery of justice. Citizens for Freedom of Expression, an organisation comprising senior advocates and activists said that they will prosecute in the case on behalf of the website and said that, the court order is a serious threat to freedom of expression.
In a proportional division, the value of each partner is at least 1/n of the total. In particular, the value of the least fortunate agent (which is called the egalitarian welfare of the division) is at least 1/n. This means that in an egalitarian-optimal division, the egalitarian welfare is at least 1/n, and so an egalitarian-optimal division is always proportional. Hence, the egalitarian price of proportionality (EPOP) is 1: ::::EPOP = 1 Similar considerations apply to the egalitarian price of equitability (EPOQ): ::::EPOQ = 1 The egalitarian price of envy-freeness is much larger: ::::EPOV = n/2 This is an interesting result, as it implies that insistence on the criterion of envy- freeness increases the social gaps and harms the most unfortunate citizens.
Daryani studied computer science at Azad University, emerging from school with a B.A. in software engineering. She started approaching photography as a self-taught photographer in 2012, after independent studies on cinematography. In fall 2019, she received The Alexandra Boulat Grant in remembrance of the late, prize winning French photographer, who was a member and co-founder of VII Photo Agency, to study at DMJX. In 2017, she received the Magnum Foundation Grant for a call themed “On Religion” and in 2015, she received the IdeasTap and Magnum Photos Grant while working on the long-term project "The Eyes of Earth", an investigation into the environmental and human impact of the drying of Lake Urmia, one of the most unfortunate environmental disasters of Iran.
The SAAFL had ceased to run a regular competition from 1942-1945 due to World War II. In 1946, when life was returning to normal again, the Amateur League recommenced its competition with two grades, Al and A2. The Club was represented in both these grades and performed quite well in the years immediately after the War. Although Premierships eluded ‘the Blacks’ in these years, the Al side played in the Finals in all but one season and was most unfortunate to be disqualified in 1947 when a Premiership looked a possibility. On the administrative side, 1949 saw the retirement of Dr. N.S. Gunning from the Club Presidency after a long association with the Club that dated back to the early 1920s.
In June, social services appealed the sheriff's ruling but the appeal was overturned and an official inquiry was established in August 1991, which after 9 months' investigation at a cost of £6 million, published its report in October 1992. It described the dismissal of the first judgment as "most unfortunate" and criticized all those involved, including the social workers, the police, and the Orkney Islands Council. Social workers' training, methods, and judgment were given special condemnation, and the report stated that the concept of "ritual abuse" was "not only unwarrantable at present but may affect the objectivity of practitioners and parents". A 1994 government report based on three years of research found that there was no foundation to any of the Satanic abuse claims.
International federation Secretary General Bekele Geleta states that "Albinism is one of the most unfortunate vulnerabilities… and needs to be addressed immediately at international level." This is a cry for international exposure and help to ensure that people suffering from albinism can be protected from inhumane killings and to be sheltered from the merciless hunters of albino body parts for their potions and spiritual medicine. "The main issues that should be addressed include skin cancer prevention education, stigma and discrimination denouncement, and swift prosecution of albino hunters and their sponsors." Therefore, it is clear that albinos are facing many issues in their lives, and must be protected on the basis of human rights even if they look different and unlike any other race on earth.
" Newspaper editor and activist William Monroe Trotter led a demonstration against the film, which resulted in a riot. Jane Addams, an American social worker and social reformer, and the founder of Hull House, voiced her reaction to the film in an interview published by the New York Post on March 13, 1915, just ten days after the film was released.. She stated that "One of the most unfortunate things about this film is that it appeals to race prejudice upon the basis of conditions of half a century ago, which have nothing to do with the facts we have to consider to- day. Even then it does not tell the whole truth. It is claimed that the play is historical: but history is easy to misuse.
The 1927–73 team was: D. Jacobson, L Handleman, EJ Deering, B. White, B. Caldwell, F. McDermot, B. Jacobson, A. Davidson, A. Dargan, A Obernik (Capt), M. Bloom, B. Winn, J. Caplin, J. Phillips, W. Grodkin, M. Samuels, C. Wojner, N. Carey – at that time David White chaired a hard working committee and received plenty of support from PS White, Max Fine, Robert White, Arnold Lewis, Bernard White. Stuart Barling, a long-standing player, became a senior referee, the only Carlisle member to do so. In 1978 a disagreement over club policy led to a most unfortunate split within the rugby section resulting in the loss of several “seasoned” players. Some older members rallied around but playing strength was reduced.
Article 301 states that "a person who publicly insults the Turkish nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey, or the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, shall be punishable by imprisonment of between six months and two years" and also that "expressions of thought intended to criticise shall not constitute a crime." The EU was especially critical of this law during the September 2005 trial of novelist Orhan Pamuk over comments that recognised the deaths of thirty thousand Kurds and a million Armenians. Enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn and members of the European Parliament called the case "regrettable", "most unfortunate", and "unacceptable". After the case was dropped three months later, Turkey's Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül indicated that Turkey may abandon or modify Article 301, stating that "there may be need for a new law".
These developments have been widely criticised by several filmmakers and politicians alike. Backing Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth stated, Leela Samson, chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, condemned the allegations of the film being anti-Islamic stating that: Shah Rukh Khan, who also faced obstructions during the release of Billu Barber (2009) and My Name is Khan (2010) and whose Red Chillies VFX was responsible for Vishwaroopam's visual effects, expressed sympathies for Haasan's situation, stating that a ban is "the most unfortunate thing to happen to a film". The banning of Vishwaroopam was deemed "unfair" by Prakash Raj, who stated that "cultural terrorism should stop". The film's ban was decried by Ajith Kumar who questioned whether India was "a secular nation or being played on the basis of vote bank politics".
Sun Hao (243 – January or February 284), courtesy name Yuanzong, originally named Sun Pengzu with the courtesy name Haozong, was the fourth and last emperor of the state of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period of China. He was the son of Sun He, a one-time heir apparent of the founding emperor Sun Quan. He ascended the throne in 264 after the death of his uncle, Sun Xiu (Emperor Jing), in light of the desire of the people to have an older emperor, considering the recent destruction of Wu's ally state Shu Han. However, he turned out to be a most unfortunate choice, as his cruelty, extravagance and inability to handle domestic matters doomed Wu, which was eventually conquered by the Jin dynasty in 280, ending the Three Kingdoms period.
The inconsistency was noticed several years later by the librarian to the Surgeon General, but for reasons which are not entirely clear, the symbol was not changed. Considerable light is shed on this confusion by an anonymous letter republished by Emerson, a historian of United States Army insignia and uniforms. He indicates that the April 1924 issue of The Military Surgeon printed a review of an earlier article that appeared in the Presse Médicale in which the author stated "There is nothing in history to justify the use of the caduceus as the emblem of the physician [...] it is most unfortunate that the 'confusion' exists." In an anonymous rebuttal contained in a letter to the editor published three months later in The Military Surgeon it was claimed that the late Col.
After a five-year hiatus, Brett Gurewitz reunited with Greg Graffin in 1999 to write and record the song "Believe It" for the next Bad Religion album, The New America (2000). After embarking on multiple worldwide tours in support of The New America during 2000 and 2001, Gurewitz decided to rejoin Bad Religion permanently, and after fulfilling their contract with Atlantic Records, the band decided to re- sign with Epitaph. In June 2001, it was announced that former drummer Bobby Schayer had "experienced a most unfortunate career-ending injury" and could no longer drum, which forced him to leave the band. Without a new drummer, Bad Religion had booked a few weeks of rehearsal studio time in Los Angeles to record their next album, with an October 2001 release planned.
Furrball (vocal effects provided by Frank Welker; on the episodes "Cinemaniacs" and "Buster and the Wolverine", Rob Paulsen provides his voice) is a young, blue male cat with a hole on his right ear and a bandage on his tail. Furrball is usually depicted as living in a cardboard box in an alleyway, although other times he is shown as one of Elmyra's pets and briefly had a home with Mary Melody. He is often a quite peaceful and innocent character, but he is also one of the most unfortunate characters in the show, since he is almost always chased, abused or bullied, often by being squashed. For example, during the intro credits, he gets flattened by a falling upright piano to the lyric of "Furrball is unlucky" while sniffing a flower peacefully.
Judge Nicholson writes in paragraph 210 of his judgement: > The timing of the indictment [of Zuma] by Mr Mpshe on 28 December 2007, > after the President suffered a political defeat at Polokwane was most > unfortunate. This factor, together with the suspension of Mr Pikoli, who was > supposed to be independent and immune from executive interference, persuade > me that the most plausible inference is that the baleful political influence > was continuing. In paragraph 220 of the Judgement Judge Nicholson went on to write: > There is a distressing pattern in the behaviour which I have set out above > indicative of political interference, pressure or influence. It commences > with the "political leadership" given by Minister Maduna to Mr Ngcuka, when > he declined to prosecute the applicant, to his communications and meetings > with Thint representatives and the other matters to which I have alluded.
As related by Prince, John IV Copleston murdered his godson, possibly an illegitimate son, which "most unfortunate occurrence in this place of Tamerton...in all probability hastened the extinction of the name and family here and at Copleston also". The godson had been sent abroad for his education and when he returned home to England overheard his godfather's private conversation and reported it amongst his circle of friends, which action soon found its way by gossip back to his godfather, whose indignation was "exceedingly enkindled" and who exclaimed: "Must boys observe and discant on the actions of men and of their betters?", and thenceforth resolved and sought all opportunities to be revenged upon him. The two next met at Tamerton Foliot church during the Sunday service, and the youth fled before the end of the service, having noticed his godfather's angry look.
C'est pour les démasquer que je vous dédie mon ouvrage; vous ne serez pas insensibles à mes tourments, vous les ferez cesser dès qu'ils vous seront connus. ::TO ALL THE EMPERORS, KINGS, PRINCES, AND SOVEREIGNS OF THE FOUR PARTS OF THE WORLD ::Milords, ::Fathers of nations, you who represent the heavenly God of peace and consolation on earth, unite your efforts to my own to destroy the power of Demons, Witches, and Imps, that devastate the unhappy dwellers of your countries. You see at your feet the most unfortunate of men; the torments with which I have struggled for these twenty-five years are the best titles that I can bear before your paternal gaze. ::Ah! The diabolical persecutions of the Imps would have long since been ended on Earth, had one of your subjects had the courage to reveal them to you.
Claudius agreed to this, but Verginius grabbed a knife and, at the Shrine of Venus Cloacina, he stabbed Verginia, the only way he felt he could uphold her freedom. Verginius and Icilius were arrested, and their supporters returned to attack the lictors and destroy their fasces. This led to the overthrow of the decemviri and the re-establishment of the Roman Republic. Livy compared this story to the rape of Lucretia and the overthrow of the monarchy in 509 BC. The tale is retold, with varying fidelity, in several works of Western literature, including Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Physician's Tale" in his Canterbury Tales, in Thomas Babington Macaulay's Lays of Ancient Rome, and in the play Appius and Virginia by John Webster and Thomas Heywood, which includes the following lines: :Two ladies fair, but most unfortunate :Have in their ruins rais'd declining Rome, :Lucretia and Virginia, both renowned :For chastity.
Minnesota's eugenics law of 1925, targeting the institutionalized intellectually disabled and insane, sought to stop the births of children who might become public dependents. Eitel lobbied the Minnesota legislature in January 1925; his letter on Eitel Hospital stationery called the "feeble minded, epileptic or insane" a "most unfortunate and very expensive class of citizens...." Mildred Thomson supervised the Minnesota Department for the Feebleminded and Epileptic and was in large measure the administrator responsible for the sterilization process, that in Minnesota was a complicated affair in which the subject or guardian must give consent. Eitel became vice president (1925–1926) of the Minnesota Eugenics Society formed by Charles Fremont Dight who promoted eugenics for most of his later life. Molly Ladd- Taylor writes that "the responsibilities of the [other] medical men were more professional and longer-lasting," noting that of course "a surgeon was necessary to perform" the sterilizations.
Like Heller before him, Celan hoped for a word of explanation... but returned empty-handed. (Many members of Heller's family, as in the case of Celan's family, perished in Nazi concentration camps.) with its well-known topos of suffocation at what Celan calls Krudes (an instance of smuttiness). This turn of events must needs be adjudged a most unfortunate one, given that much of Heller's best thought can be viewed as a continuation in one sense or another of Heidegger's preoccupation with Being; certainly Heidegger's Sein und Zeit, in its original edition, was a prized possession and remained part of Heller's personal library to his last day (surviving the substantial paring down of his collection upon his moving into a retirement home in the final stages of his life). It is possible, and indeed probable, that if the outcome of his meeting with Heidegger, which might have taken place c.
Furniture's chief success was in the UK but they also enjoyed a following throughout Eastern Europe where they toured in 1987 and 1988. Since the break-up of the band, Furniture has retained a certain cult appeal, partly due to a continuing high reputation for songwriting and partly due to the nature of the band's career. Noted for the bad luck and practical frustration that prevented them from making a long term-breakthrough, Furniture have been described as "one of the most unfortunate of bands, and a salutory lesson for any young hopefuls being courted by minor labels."Article on Furniture (written by Neil Nixon) in The Rough Guide to Rock (3rd edition, 2003 – editor: Peter Buckley) After the band's break-up, Whelan and Lee went on to form Transglobal Underground (which rapidly eclipsed their prior band in terms of success and recognition), while Irvin and Still became high-profile British music journalists (as well as continuing their work in music, predominantly as songwriters).
In the December following that Wembley victory, Moore was asked to take over from Jack Love as manager of Walsall who had been going through a difficult time and were in deep trouble at the foot of Third Division South. In no time at all he rallied the players, re-election was averted, the Fourth Division title was won in 1960 and 12 months later promotion gained to the Second Division. After Walsall slipped back into the Third Division in 1963, in the most unfortunate of circumstances, being reduced to nine men in the final game of the season from which they needed a point but ended up going down by two goals to one against Charlton Athletic, Moore left Fellows Park early the following season to take up a scouting position with Fulham. He returned to Fellows Park in February 1969, to succeed Ron Lewin, and over the next three years developed players such as Phil Parkes and Ray Train.
The film was very successful at the box office, being one of the twelve most popular British movies of the year, despite sometimes hostile reviews and earned rentals of $3.5 million worldwide. Kinematograph Weekly listed it as being "in the money" at the British box office in 1958. The novelisation of the script sold over two million copies and has been described as "arguably the most successful piece of merchandise ever licensed by Hammer."Marcus Hearn, The Hammer Vault, Titan Books, 2011 p19 The chairman of the Motion Pictures Producers' Association of Japan, Shiro Kido, who was also the president of Japanese film studio Shochiku, wrote to Columbia Pictures who were distributing the film worldwide to request that the film be banned in the United States as it hurt US-Japanese relationships stating that "It is most unfortunate that a certain country still maintains a hostile feeling toward Japan and cannot forget the nightmare of the Japanese army." and bemoaning the film's advertising.
Foxman was supportive of Rosenthal's appointment; in a statement issued by the Anti-Defamation League, Foxman wrote: "We look forward to working with Hannah Rosenthal [...]" Foxman has also criticized Rosenthal for organizing and accompanying a trip by eight American imams and Muslim leaders to the Dachau and Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, saying that the involvement of the State Department in an intercommunal affair was unwarranted. He explained that "having Muslims speaking out about anti- Semitism, that's our job" and not that of the State Department. However, since then, Foxman and Rosenthal settled their differences, and Foxman has praised Rosenthal for her work, as well as for establishing a mandatory course on antisemitism for diplomats. In December 2009 Rosenthal criticized Israel's ambassador to the United States Michael Oren for his "most unfortunate" remarks regarding J Street, namely, that they support positions that "impair Israel’s interest" and that they are "fooling around with the lives of 7 million people."U.
Cary wrote "there was not doubt of the legality of the catch", Jack Fingleton called it "one of the most unfortunate decisions in the history of the Tests."p77, Jack Fingleton, Brown and Company, The Tour in Australia, Collins, 1951 and most English pressmen shared their view. However, E.W. Swanton reported "The Don waited for the decision, confident that it was a bump ball, and the umpire Borwick, ruled 'not out'".p60, Swanton In the Australian dressing rooms the players were divided as to whether he was out or not.p39, Lindwall When Bradman returned at the end of the session he said he had played down on a yorker and to Ray Lindwall there was no doubt as to his sincerity.p39 Lindwall In the end the batsman was given the benefit of the doubt, but it had repercussions. Bradman recovered his form and hit 159 runs in 160 minutes before he was out for 187, which set up Australia's victory in the First Test by an innings and 332 runs.
From right to left: Wajid Ali Shah along with his son Birjis Qadr and wife Begum Hazrat Mahal Wajid Ali Shah succeeded to the throne of Awadh when the kingdom was well past its heyday. The British had annexed much of the kingdom under the treaty of 1801, and had impoverished Awadh by imposing a hugely expensive, British-run army and repeated demands for loans. The independence of Awadh in name was tolerated by the British only because they still needed a buffer state between their presence in the east and south, and the remnants of the Mughal Empire to the north. Wajid Ali Shah was most unfortunate to have ascended the throne of Oudh at a time when the British East India Company was determined to grab the coveted throne of prosperous Awadh, which was "the garden, granary, and queen- province of India"- the royal predecessors and successors of Awadh were one of the major threats to the Mughal Empire before Britain's attempt at usurping full political control in India.
Notating the social relations of some of the Native American people, he wrote: "Women, when captured, are taken as wives by those who capture them, but they are treated by the Indian wives of the capturers as slaves, and made to carry wood and water; if they chance to be pretty, or receive too much attention from their lords and masters, they are, in the absence of the latter, unmercifully beaten and otherwise maltreated. The most unfortunate thing which can befall a captive woman is to be claimed by two persons. In this case, she is either shot or delivered up for indiscriminate violence."[2] His multi-volume boundary survey published as the Report of the United States and Mexican Boundary Commission, Made Under the Direction of the Secretary of the Interior, 2 vols (Washington, GPO, 1857–1859, reprint Austin:Texas Historical Association, 1987) was not only a contribution to understanding the geography of the region but was a long- standing scientific contribution to the natural history of the region.
A bench consisting of Justices G. S. Singhvi and Asok Kumar Ganguly pointed out that laws enacted for achieving the goals set out in the Preamble to the Constitution were inadequate; the benefits of welfare measures embodied in the legislation had not reached millions of poor people, and efforts to bridge the gap between rich and poor did not yield the desired results. Singhvi wrote, in a case concerning sewage workers: “The most unfortunate part of the scenario is that whenever one of the three constituents of the state i.e., the judiciary issues directions for ensuring that the right to equality, life, and liberty no longer remains illusory for those who suffer from the handicap of poverty, illiteracy and ignorance, and directions are given for implementation of the laws enacted by the legislature for the benefit of the have-nots, a theoretical debate is started by raising the bogey of judicial activism or overreach”. The bench clarified that it was necessary to erase the impression on some that the superior courts, by entertaining PIL petitions for the poor who could not seek protection of their rights, exceeded the unwritten boundaries of their jurisdiction.
Pyrrhonism denies that the existence and value of phronesis has been demonstrated. The Pyrrhonist philosopher Sextus Empiricus explained the problem of phronesis as follows: > Thus, insofar as it is up to his phronesis, the wise man does not acquire > self-control, or if he does, he is the most unfortunate of all, so that the > art of living has brought him no benefit but the greatest perturbation. And > we have shown previously that the person who supposes that he possesses the > art of living and that through it he can recognize which things are good by > nature and which evil, is very much perturbed both when be has good things > and when evil. It must be said, then, that if the existence of things good, > bad, and indifferent is not agreed upon, and perhaps the art of life, too, > is nonexistent, and that even if it should provisionally be granted to > exist, it will provide no benefit to those possessing it, but on the > contrary will cause them very great perturbations, the Dogmatists would seem > to be idly pretentious in what is termed the "ethics" part of their so- > called "philosophy".
