After the repeal in 1846, the press said of Villiers that he was "the most persevering and undaunted supporter of those principles within the house." David Ricardo, Chairman of the Free Traders in London, wished to raise money to give to Villiers in recognition of his work, Villiers declined this. Villiers was a corresponding member of the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, and he attended the World Anti-Slavery Convention in London in 1840.

Garuda, a fuel- efficient, aerodynamic car, was designed by the Mechanical engineering students. The car reportedly gives a mileage of 180 kilometers per litre of fuel. Project Garuda members were the only team from India to participate in the Shell Eco Marathon held at Rockingham Raceway, Corby, UK. Project Garuda was awarded the `Most Persevering Team' award, which is given to the best first-time participant every year. Eight students of the RV College of Engineering developed a vehicle consuming water as a fuel.

With his wife Hiatt set off in 1959 to do his primary, detailed ethnographic fieldwork for his doctorate in, and around, Maningrida, in the Northern Territory's Arnhem Land. His focus was on the Gidjingali community of the Burarra. From the late 1950s (at which time the Australian Aboriginal community of Maningrida was first being formed and gazetted as a township), Hiatt spent more than 45 years, off and on, researching, learning and recording the views, language, songs, stories, understandings, and practices of the Burarra- speaking Gidjingarli members. It was here at Maningrida that Les developed some of his deepest, most persevering research relationships, producing at least one film and a book in memory of Frank Gurrmanamana, one of the 'informants' with whom he worked most closely.

In 1796 Andrews succeeded Lord Lyttleton as Member of Parliament for Bewdley which he represented until his death in 1814.

El Gaucho took the Uriburus in several voyages across the South Atlantic ocean, the North Atlantic ocean, the Caribbean sea, the Mediterranean sea, the Ionian Sea, the Tyrrhenian sea, the Red sea and the Cantabrian sea. The Uriburus were awarded countless trophies, among which are the 1947 Blue Water Medal of the Cruising Club of America (CCA), the 1951 TransOceanic Pennant of the Cruising Club of America (CCA) and the 1956 John Parkinson Memorial Trophy, also from the Cruising Club of America (CCA). An interesting fact is that at a ceremony held at the City Island Yacht Club in New York, the Gaucho crew was given a personal flag of Sir Thomas Lipton, the most persevering challenger of the America Cup, as a symbol of sports friendship between the two countries. Sir Lipton's flag was hoisted at the top of the main pole of the Gaucho to celebrate the start of the races for this cup.
