A subtype of Tudor architecture includes Elizabethan architecture from about 1560 to 1600. In the much more slow-moving styles of vernacular architecture, "Tudor" has become a designation for half- timbered buildings, although the truth is there are cruck and frame houses with half timbering that predate 1485 by quite a bit and the style bleeds early into the Jacobean era and a closer examination is required to determine the edifice's age. After a few initial failures, Sayf al-Dawla quickly established his supremacy: in 953, he heavily defeated Bardas near Marash. Expeditions led by Bardas in the next two years were also defeated, allowing Sayf al-Dawla to refortify his frontier zone and strengthen it against further Byzantine attacks..
