In 2010, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists allegedly ransacked Vibgyor High School in Mumbai, protesting against the expulsion of a female student at the Goregaon school, reportedly because her mother had led morchas against the fee hike effected by the school.

Qamar Alam Kazmi became the president of All India Muslim Majlis. In 1992 Qamar Alam Kazmi raised his voice against the demolition of Babri Masjid. He started Karwane Insaf (Nyay Yatra) against the Ram Rath Yatra of Advani. He did several of Dharnas, Morchas etc.

He became a satyagrahi, following Vinoba Bhave, Navale, Vasantdada and V.S.Paage. For this he was jailed by the British government. In jail, he came under the influence of Babasaheb Kher, Sardar Patel and others. He was influenced by Netaji Subhashchandra Bose, and believed that neither satyagraha, morchas nor people's movements alone would get freedom.

To counter the Maratha Kranti Morcha, a consolidation of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Dalits splinter groups have forged an alliance and decided to organize silent morchas across Maharashtra with the aim of defending their reservation quotas and demanding that the reservation norms not be tampered with or that the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 not be amended.

Govind Das Shroff Govindbhai Shroff, also known as the freedom fighter, led a movement to fight against the Nizam of Hyderabad during the Hyderabad Campaign of 1948. As a result, the Marathwada region was liberated from the Hyderabad State on 17 September 1948. In 1966, people responded to the call of Shroff by taking part in hunger strikes, morchas, rail rokos, bandhs and other form of protests to press for a broad track gauge.

Talwandi was born at Chak No. 52, Lyallpur District (now in Pakistan) on 24 June 1929. His father, Jathedar Chhanga Singh, was a landlord in Mullanpur village in Lyallpur district. Chhanga Singh had actively participated in all Sikh morchas , including those of Guru Kal Bagh, Gangsar, Jaitu Nabha, Nankana Sahib, and Duska. As he was a member of the Lyallpur District Board at the time, his lambardar, which entitled him to a free land holding of 25 acres, was forfeited because of his actions.

After independence, Chhanga Singh settled at Talwandi village in Ludhiana district, and was unanimously elected the sarpanch in 1955 for a decade. He earned the title of for his role in early years of Akali politics followed by arrests in all Punjabi Suba morchas, along with his brother Master Dev Raj Singh. He was arrested on 9 July 1975 for being a part of the first jatha against the Emergency and spent 19 months in jail. In 1960 and 1965 he was chosen as a member of the SGPC.

The National Council is the highest policy making body of the party. It is also responsible for rectification of any amendment, alteration and addition to the party constitution by National Executive in the following Plenary Session or Special Session. The National Council along with the State Council also elects the President every three year. The National Council consists of members that are elected by the State Councils, 10% of the parliamentary party, former national Presidents, leaders of state legislative assemblies and state legislative councils, members nominated by the national president, all members of the National Executive, presidents of Morchas and Cells.
