The first Ford vehicle to feature this engine was the 2007 Lincoln MKR concept vehicle under the name TwinForce. The engine was designed to deliver power and torque output equivalent to a typical 6.0 L or larger-displacement V8 while achieving at least 15% better fuel efficiency and reduced greenhouse emissions. The fuel charging and delivery systems can attain high fuel pressures up to 2150 psi, necessary for efficient operation of the direct fuel injection system. The F-series EcoBoost 3.5L V6 uses two BorgWarner K03 turbochargers which can spin up to 170,000 rpm and provide up to 15 psi of boost.

After winning the MKR series Sweden ICA karting series in 1995 and 1996, Haglöf switched to touring cars, entering in the Volvo S40 Junior Touring Car Cup in 1997. He raced in the series for 5 seasons, winning it in 2001 and finishing 2nd the year before. Reports had said there would be no reference in the game to Dawn of the Dead (because the 2004 version ends with the survivors winding up in a zombie- ridden island), one of the more popular films in the Dead Series due to copyright issues with the MKR Group who hold the rights to the film.

Celebrity chefs and co-hosts Pete Evans and Manu Feildel have appeared in every season in the show. They have been responsible for all challenges and judging across the series, with Colin Fassnidge acting as a judge in the challenge and as a mentor in the kitchen. The series is produced by the team who created the Seven reality show My Restaurant Rules, and was put into production based on the success of Network 10's MasterChef Australia.

Due to the combination of a thin-walled rimfire case with a high-pressure powder charge, the cartridge needed good external support so the MKR rifle was designed to use locked breech, gas-operated action with a vertically tilting bolt rather than straight blow back operation. This ensured the bolt only opened once cartridge pressure had reduced to safe levels. The rifle and carbine, which differed only in barrel length, were fired from the open bolt position to prevent cook-off ignition of the thin walled cartridges. Thus construction of the MKR in its original form was abandoned at New Beckenham, and a sharp kink to the west was introduced to take trains to a revised terminus at Addiscombe, near Croydon. This opened in 1864, and branches at Elmers End (to Hayes) and Woodside (to connect with the Oxted Line at Sanderstead, opening in 1885) were added. The branch from Woodside to Sanderstead was relatively unsuccessful and was finally closed by British Rail on 13 May 1983. The branch to Hayes became the main route, with the service between Elmers End and Addiscombe reduced to a shuttle service (although with some through services at peak hours).

Using engines considered to be available in a reasonable timespan, 95% of the vehicle's initial mass would have to be propellant. Evans also hosted the show A Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking, airing on PBS in the United States, which was nominated in 2014 for a Daytime Emmy Award. The show first aired in 2013, in which "Evans takes viewers on a faced-paced trip, serving pop-up feasts in a multitude of settings across America". In 2017, Evans produced and narrated a Netflix documentary called The Magic Pill, which promotes the ketogenic diet, and claims that it can help manage autism, asthma and cancer.

The 4.5x26 MKR was claimed to be on par with a 5.56×45mm NATO M-193 bullet at up to 300 meters while one could carry 3.5 times as many of the lighter cartridges. Its slender 4.5mm projectile could penetrate a steel helmet up to 300m out to which range it had a similar ballistic curve to the 5.56x45NATO with M-193 projectile. This was due to a combination of slightly higher velocity, a similar Ingalls ballistic coefficient to the M-193 bullet (0.245 vs 0.265), and the superior penetrating ability of solid cold-rolled copper bullets vs jacketed lead bullets given an equal sectional density. It was potentially lethal (80 Joules) up to 750m and its tendency to tumble on impact was twice that of the 5.56 M-193 bullet, thus ensuring more effective transfer of its diminutive energy to its target, especially as its tip tended to bend.
