The Atlantic States Racing Association, Central States Auto Racing Association, Gulf States Automobile Association, International Stock Car Racing Association, and Motor Internationale Association all sanctioned events at the track.
Prior to racing in the IMSA Continental Tire Series, Levine learned road racing driving skills at the Skip Barber Racing School. While there, he drove many types of cars, including stock cars and Midgets. While at Skip Barber, he also raced in the MAZDASPEED Challenge Series, logging four wins.
Three Tuthill sisters, Cynthia, Lucretia and Asenath, were midgets and accomplished seamstresses. In the mid-19th century, their brother Rufus built them a house with reduced dimensions; it still stands on Village Lane. Their diminutive and shy nephew, Addison, declined P. T. Many consider the round-arch Midgets with chrome bumpers produced for model years 1972-1974 to be the most desirable. These round-arch cars started leaving the Abingdon factory in late 1971. Between 1966 and the 1969 face lift, 22,415 were made, and a further 77,831 up to 1974.
Scelzi sold his Focus Midget at the end of 2006 and moved up to standard midgets with Dodge powerplants, with sponsorship from his Funny Car sponsors. After the 2008 season, Scelzi retired from driving his Fuel Funny Car to focus on Scelzi Enterprises. He was succeeded by #2 points finisher in 2010, Matt Hagan, who now drives the DieHard Dodge Charger for Don Schumacher Racing. In his spare time he has raced midgets for fun, even competing in the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK, competing in a 2003 "celebrity" race against fellow drag racer Ron Capps and dirt trackers Danny Lasoski, Scott Bloomquist, Dave Darland, J. J. Yeley, and Tony Stewart.
Other divisions that race on selected nights include Super Late Models, Super Trucks, Super Stocks, Ford Focus, Midgets, and Bandoleros. The track held Super Late Model races as its premiere class until 2008; the limited late model class became the premiere class in 2009 when it began being called late models.
New Smyrna Speedway is a 1/2-mile asphalt oval racetrack located near New Smyrna Beach, Florida, that races the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series every Saturday night. It also has a smaller track, known as "Little New Smyrna Speedway" in the infield. This track races Quarter midgets on Friday nights.

African American auto racing pioneer Benny Scott Benny Scott (February 4, 1945 in Los Angeles, California – September 25, 2009), was a second-generation African American race car driver, a rarity in the motor racing industry. Scott's father, Bill “Bullet” Scott, inspired his son racing midgets in Southern California in the 1930s.
Davey Jay Hamilton Jr. (born March 15, 1997) is an American racing driver from Idaho. Hamilton Jr. is the son of former Indy 500 competitor Davey Hamilton. Hamilton has raced mainly midgets and sprint cars and made his Indy Lights debut in 2016. He has also raced in the Stadium Super Trucks.
In the post-WWII era, through the early 1960s, open wheel race cars were almost exclusively front-engined "roadsters". The primary ladder series included sprints and midgets. By the end of the 1960s, the cars evolved into rear-engine formula-style machines. Likewise, the feeder series began to follow the same mold.

Philadelphia's "Venango Midgets" were renamed "Frank Palumbo's Clickets". They took on the newly formed, and thus "undefeated", "Frank Sinatra's Cyclones" in a game heavily promoted by the Philadelphia Daily News.
His biography at the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame Carter is the half- brother of Johnny Parsons. His full brother, Dana Carter, also raced in USAC midgets, sprints and Silver Crown. He died of a heart attack in the early 1980s. Carter is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach.
Michael James Lewis is an American race car driver born on December 24, 1990 in Laguna Beach, California to parents Steve Lewis (Owner of the famed Nine Racing Midget Team & former owner of Performance Racing Industry) and Loretta Lewis. As a young, up-and-coming Race Car Driver, Michael has competed in a diverse number of racing vehicles including Formula 3, Formula BMW, Ford Focus Midgets, Touring Cars, Late Model Stock Cars, Quarter Midgets, & Go-Karts. Michael also officially tested a Formula One car for Scuderia Ferrari F1 in the F60 chassis on November 15, 2011 (as a result from his accomplishments in Formula 3 Italia). Michael's passion for racing is paramount and he enjoys every aspect of his racing career.

Marv Acton (born February 3, 1944 in Porterville, California) is a former NASCAR driver. He made 14 Winston Cup starts in his career. He had a best finish of 11th place. Among the racing Acton did before NASCAR was racing Stock Cars at Kearney Bowl Speedway in Fresno, California and Midgets in Southern California.

The Carb Night Classic is scheduled for Friday night, and a revival of the Night Before the 500 race is scheduled for Saturday, with both sprints and midgets running races.
The one mile (1.6 km) dirt Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack in Springfield has had a long and varied past. Since before the inception of USAC, there have been Midgets, Sprints, and Silver Crown races at the "Monster Mile." The first incarnation of the track ran east–west. It now is raced north–south orientation.

Toiling Midgets is a rock band from San Francisco, California formed in 1979 by members of San Francisco punk bands Sleepers and Negative Trend. They have been active on-and-off since 1979, with their early 1990s lineup getting most attention due to the involvement of Mark Eitzel of American Music Club. They reunited in 2007.

After the war ended, he returned to successfully race midget cars. He stopped racing midgets in favor of late model stock cars so he could race more frequently.

They played their farewell show a few months later at Paperfest in Kimberly. Sorenson's career started at age six when he began racing quarter-midgets. He won the national championship in 1997. He moved up to legends cars the following year, winning 13 out of 25 races, southeastern championships and breaking track records in the process. In 1999 he won 30 out of the 50 races in which he competed.

She entered the Limited Late Model championship in 1979 and took ten feature race victories, including six trophy dash wins and two heat race victories. McCall won the series' rookie of the year accolade.
Not long after Merrick's last examination with Frederick Treves, the police closed down Norman's shop on Whitechapel Road, and Merrick's Leicester managers withdrew him from Norman's care. In 1885, Merrick went on the road with Sam Roper's travelling fair. He befriended two other performers, "Roper's Midgets"—Bertram Dooley and Harry Bramley—who on occasion defended Merrick from public harassment.
The OHL's predecessor, the OHA, had a midget and juvenile draft dating back to the 50s, until voted out in 1962. In 1966 it was resumed, though not publicized. Starting in the 70s the draft went through several changes. Originally the draft was for 17-year-old midgets not already associated with teams through their sponsored youth programs.

In 2003 a Chilean photographer Roberto Edwards invited Jim Amaral to participate in his non-profit project Taller experimental. Cuerpos pintados (painted bodies). Amaral decided to work with midgets from the community of Santiago de Chile. The artist painted the bodies of his models and characterised them as if they were angels, demons and cupids spreading love.

The park consists of two tracks: a -mile tri-oval and a -mile oval. Originally the -mile oval was a -mile oval and the -mile was added later. The last roadster to complete the full race distance was in 1965, when Gordon Johncock finished fifth in the Wienberger Homes Watson car. The last roadster to make the race was built and driven by Jim Hurtubise in the 1968 race and dropped out early. Some pavement midgets roadsters were built and raced into the early 1970s but never were dominant.
International sports car racing star Phil Walters, who raced modifieds and midgets under the name "Ted Tappett", won the season championship. The United Stock Car Racing Club events drew 6,000–8,000 fans every Saturday night. In the early 1970s "the Park" drew more than 50 modifieds each Saturday night. Four heat races would each qualify eight drivers into one of two "semi" features.

North Daviess Junior Senior High School is a high school located near Elnora, Indiana. Its athletic nickname is the "Cougars", and it participates in the Southwestern Indiana Conference. In the 2008-2009 ISTEP ranking, North Daviess placed 60th in the state. It was established in 1968 as a consolidation of the Elnora Owls, Odon Bulldogs, Raglesville Rockets, Plainville Midgets and the Epsom Salts.
There were no Mk 4 Sprites assembled in Australia. If a Mk4 Sprite in seen in Australia, it has either been imported, or is a Midget that has been re-badged to look like a Sprite. (There were no 1500 or Rubber Nose Midgets assembled in Australia either). Sales of the Mk3 Midget took over from where the Mk3A Sprite finished.
Its competition, mostly superannuated MG Midgets were no match for it, though it faced more competition from Bandinis. The miniature marvel dominated circuit, hillclimb, and open road events. Nardi himself raced the monoposto in the Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti 'climb, winning in both 1947 and 1948. There were also three entered in the 1952 Targa Florio; all failed to finish.
Springfield, Missouri, has hosted professional baseball teams since as early as 1905, when the Springfield Highlanders began play. For nearly 30 years, the team was variously called the Highlanders, Jobbers, Midgets, and Merchants. There were several years where no team existed at all. In 1931, the St. Louis Cardinals purchased a minor league team, renamed it the Cardinals, and relocated it in Springfield.

A baseball card featruing Hetling Hetling spent most of his baseball career, totaling 14 years, in the minor leagues. He played for the Springfield Midgets (1904, 1906), Springfield Highlanders (1906), Wichita Jobbers (1907–08), Kansas City Blues (1909), and Spokane Indians (1910). In 1906, he had 30 doubles, 12 triples and three home runs in 140 games for Wichita. In 1908, he hit .
Borkowski grew up in the small town of Middlebury, Connecticut and began racing Quarter Midgets at the Silver City Quarter Midget Club in Meriden, Connecticut - the same club as race car drivers Jeff Simmons, Erin Crocker, Joey Logano, and renowned Indycar engineer Chris Simmons. Borkowski competed in Quarter Midgets from 1981 to 1988, winning four New England States Championships in the process. At age 16, Borkowski made the transition to full size cars competing in the 1989 Spenard David School and 1990 Bertil Roos School Racing Series, winning three out of seven races, two pole positions, and finishing on the podium five times. In 1990 he also competed in the SCCA's New England States Road Racing and North Atlantic Road Racing Championships, dominating both Championships with seven wins, two track records, seven pole positions, and eight fastest race laps.

Wonderful Beef was released in the United States on November 18, 1997; the album has 13 songs, including "The Song of the Seven Inch Cowboy". Coby started racing in quarter midgets before moving up to pro stocks, late models and SK modifieds. He won two Whelen All-American Series championships at his home track, Stafford Motor Speedway. He has also dabbled in open-wheel midget racing. In 2002, Coby debuted in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Stafford and ran part-time in the series for a number of years.

Michael R. Greenlay (born September 15, 1968 in Vitória, Brazil and raised in Calgary, Alberta) is a former National Hockey League player. Greenlay made a couple of appearances for the Edmonton Oilers in 1989–90. He was a successful amateur player who spent most of his pro career in the minors. Greenlay was selected 189th overall by Edmonton in 1986 out of the Calgary AAA Midgets.
That stock car experiment at Lonsdale proved to be right on. Stock cars soon replaced Midgets at Lonsdale for good in the late 40s or early 50s. The stock cars (also called Jalopies or Modifieds) were a godsend to the track operators. The cars were cheap, provided lots of racing thrills and most importantly, the drivers and fans could not get enough of these stock cars.
Since 2005, Seekonk has featured an exclusively open-wheel program on one Wednesday of the summer. The event features racing from the NEMA Lights and Midgets, as well as the 100 lap $10,000 to win Tri Track Modified Series race. The two NEMA races are the most prestigious races for each series, as Open Wheel Wednesday headlines as the Boston Louie Memorial for NEMA.

Singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk visited Aurora High in January 2000. She sang the song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" with Aurora band the Amazing Circus Midgets and spoke about her career. John-Michael Scapin, winner of CBC's Triple Sensation, attended this school.

The greedy owner of the circus noticed that the unicorn (Sinukuan) could fetch her more money, so she decided to make it into a dancing unicorn and forced it to perform a dance in front of the crowd. The Southwest Washington League was a Class-D Minor League Baseball circuit based in the southwest region of Washington state that played three seasons from 1903 to 1906. Teams in the league included the Aberdeen Pippins, Centralia Midgets, Hoquiam Loggers, Montesano Farmers and Olympia Senators. The first league president was John P. Fink of Olympia, Washington. He was succeed in 1904 by Colonel Fox of Aberdeen, Washington.
The Stratford Kroehlers were a junior ice hockey team that played in the Ontario Hockey Association. The Kroehlers were named for the Kroehler Furniture Company, a local manufacturer and team sponsor. The team played at the Stratford Arena, now known as the William Allman Memorial Arena, in Stratford, Ontario. Before 1942, the team was known as the Stratford Midgets, and briefly as the Stratford Kist.

It's given by a wealthy woman whose husband is running for office. Meanwhile a couple of criminals have set up two midgets to come to the party as babies.

Browning populated the movie with actual carnival sideshow performers including "midgets, dwarfs, hermaphrodites, Siamese twins, and, most awful, the armless and legless man billed as the 'living torso'".Doherty, pg. 313.

Midget Sprint Car Midget cars are smaller versions of a full size sprint car, normally non-wing only. Midgets date back to the 1930s as a very common form of sprint car racing, still very popular today and also sanctioned by USAC. They are powered by 4-cylinder engines developing around 350 horsepower (260 kW), but are otherwise very similar to their larger cousins.
The Magic Midgets were a number of record-breaking 750cc "midget" MG cars of the 1930s. They were most notably, but not always, driven by George Eyston. Although of small engine capacity, they were frequently supercharged to increase performance. Never as fast as the aero-engined land speed record behemoths driven by the likes of Henry Segrave, they set numerous speed records for their engine capacity class.
Thompson started racing in quarter midgets at age five at his local Oaklane Speedway in Trumbauersville, Pennsylvania. In 2008 the young driver won the Quarter Midget Association World Formula championship. After graduating the Skip Barber Racing School in 2009 Thompson raced in the Formula Skip Barber and Bertil Roos Racing Series. In the Bertil Roos Racing Series Thompson won his first race at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
Before breaking into NASCAR, racing was a hobby for Fontaine. He raced quarter midgets, Mini Cup cars, late models, and drove a few races in the K&N; Pro Series East. In 2016, Fontaine made his Camping World Truck Series debut at Martinsville Speedway, driving the No. 22 Toyota for AM Racing. After starting 28th, he finished 26th, five laps behind race winner Johnny Sauter.
The track began in 1965 as Hangtown Speedway. On November 20, 2019, the speedway held the Elk Grove Ford Hangtown 100, a 100-lap, $20,000-to-win USAC National Midget Series race which was won by Kyle Larson. It was the first time that the National Midgets raced at the track. That same year, the World of Outlaws sprint cars made their first appearance at the track in approximately twenty years.

Tony Stewart's Sprint Car Racing is a sprint car simulation where players can race three different types of sprint cars through 24 fantasy tracks. In career mode, players start in the All-Star TQ Midgets and have to race their way up to the 410 Winged Sprint Cars in the All Star Circuit of Champions. There is also a 24-player online mode and an offline split-screen mode for multiplayer.
Venditti had his own vision for the future of auto racing in the United States, and he used his track to promote that vision to the world. In 1980, the track was expanded to a 1/3 mile oval, and paved with asphalt. Midgets and modifieds dominated racing at Seekonk Speedway, until the predecessors to the now late models were introduced. The track has not only hosted stock car racing, however.

Vukovich was known for racing midgets powered by Drake engines. The Drake was a Harley V-twin with specially built Drake water cooled heads. His last Drake powered midget was a Kurtis-Kraft that was built by Ed and Zeke Justice, the Justice Brothers, in their shop in Glendale from a Kurtis kit. Muzzin played his early minor hockey in the Woodstock Minor Hockey Association before moving on to play AAA in Brantford, Ontario. He had previously played both soccer and hockey but at the age of 13 he committed to hockey. Muzzin was the first pick, 11th overall, by Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection Draft from the Brantford 99'ers Minor Midgets.

The was a Small, 2-man, midget submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy of 20 ton that was based on the Type A midget submarine that was used in the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. All five of the Type A midget submarines used were captured (1) or destroyed (4). Midgets also attacked in Sydney (all four lost) and Madagascar in June 1942.

He joined the USAC National Midget Tour in 1999 and was the Rookie of the Year. Fike finished a career-best second in USAC Midget points in 2001 with two victories at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas and at the Belleville Midget Nationals, also in Kansas.

He played for Dundee United as a trialist in December 1933, scoring two goals in a 4–4 draw with Arbroath, and was subsequently signed by the club. The following season, he was joined in the United attack by Arthur Milne. Their successful partnership and diminutive stature led to the pair being nicknamed the "Mighty Midgets".
The inaugural 1987 event consisted of 52 midgets competing in the 2-day event. The event now consists of five days of qualifiers for the Saturday night A-main event, with over 341 cars entered for the 2020 race. In 2018, Logan Seavey won the USAC National Midget Championship and that made him just the third series rookie to win the USAC National Midget championship, joining Danny Caruthers in 1971 and Christopher Bell in 2013.

Stender grew up racing ATV's, motorcycles and snowmobiles in his teens and early twenties. He then made the jump into the big leagues and began racing Badger and USAC Midgets. He continued his racing career as an Outlaw sprint car Driver at race tracks across the country. After a series of spectacular crashes that resulted in numerous broken bones and concussions, he retired from Oval Racing in the early 1990s.
Kyle Krisiloff (born March 3, 1986) is an American professional racing driver. He is the son of former Champ Car racer, Steve Krisiloff, the nephew of Tony George, and the grandson of Mari Hulman George. He became the youngest BMX rider in the United States, when he began racing BMX bicycles at just three years old. He raced quarter midgets from 1995 to 1999, winning over 320 features and nine Grand National Championships.

Ogata started motocross racing in Japan in 1987, winning 30 feature races. He eventually switched to dirt track racing, racing quarter midgets, and won at Twin Ring Motegi. In 2003, Ogata started racing in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock, and has participated in races at Concord Motorsports Park. In 2009, Ogata signed a deal with ENEOS to sponsor his Whelen All-American Series ride, the company's first NASCAR sponsorship.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Mooney played drums for a number of San Francisco punk and rock bands for The Sleepers (San Francisco band), Toiling Midgets, Negative Trend, and many others. Mooney became a member of American Music Club in 1991. His last album with the band was Love Songs for Patriots (2004), which he also produced and engineered. In 1998, Tim married Jude Mooney and had his only child, Dixie Mooney in 2000.

After the breakup of The Sleepers, he joined Toiling Midgets as vocalist from 1981 until 1983. Towards the end of his life, Williams lived with his mother in Mountain View, CA, where they would drink and watch TV all day. His mother was run over and killed, and a year and two months later Williams himself was dead. At the time of his death, he was remastering his recorded work for re- release.
Plott began racing at an early age, doing so in quarter midgets. He spent the 2018 racing season in the Southern Super Series and CARS Tour. After he retired from riding Solos in the early 1980s, Boulger raced somewhat successfully in Speedcars (Midgets) from the mid-1980s until the mid-1990s. Boulger won a record nine South Australian Championships (a record jointly held with 1951 and 1952 World Champion Jack Young) as well as two Australian Solo Championships during his career.
Aside from his work on television, Coleman worked in film, debuting with the film On the Right Track (1981). His other notable films include starring in Jimmy the Kid (1982), The Kid with the Broken Halo (1982), Church Ball (2006), An American Carol (2008), and Midgets vs. Mascots (2009). He also made appearances in music videos, and he starred in the video games The Curse of Monkey Island (1997) as Kenny Falmouth and Postal 2 (2003) as himself.

Hocevar began competing in quarter midgets at the age of 7, winning 79 feature races and 15 national championships. He started racing at Berlin Raceway in 2015 as a 12 year old and won the track's Outlaw Late Model championship. He won his first Super Late Model race at the track in 2016, but NASCAR stopped all drivers under 14 from competing from sanctioned tracks. Hocevar returned in 2017 and won the track's Super Late Model championship.
The USAC Stock Car division was the stock car racing class sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC). The division raced nationally; drivers from USAC's open wheel classes like Indy cars, Silver Crown, sprints, and midgets frequently competed in races and won championships. Several NASCAR drivers raced in USAC Stock Cars at various points in their careers. In the late 1950s, USAC Stock Cars rivaled NASCAR stock cars with races throughout the Midwestern and Northeastern United States.

The Coney Island Velodrome was a mid-sized sports arena in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City. Designed as a bicycle racing venue, the drome featured a wooden oval track with 45° banked corners and seating for 10,000. It also hosted outboard midgets into 1939. Located next to the Culver Depot, the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation's rail terminal at Neptune Avenue & West 12th Street, the venue played host to sports ranging from motorcycle races to boxing and football.

Don Thomas (1957) was the inaugural modified champion with Art Pratt being a three time titlest (1958 - 1959 - 1960). Rip Erikson took the honors in the 1961 season that was split between Balboa Stadium and Cajon Speedway. Also holding events at Balboa Stadium during the 1950s were occasional visits by the URA midgets and the NASCAR Pacific Coast Late Models. During the 1950s it was not unusual for more than 10,000 fans to attend a weekly show at Balboa.
Brandon Wagner (born April 3, 1987) is an American racing driver from Lafayette, Indiana. He is a graduate of Central Catholic High School and is currently enrolled at Purdue University. Beginning in karting in 1999, he moved to USAC Midgets in 2004, competing for his father John's team. The family purchased a Firestone Indy Lights Series Dallara chassis in mid-2008 and he made his debut in the final race of the season at Chicagoland Speedway.
The 1921 Memorial Cup final was the third junior ice hockey championship of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. The George Richardson Memorial Trophy champions Stratford Midgets of the Ontario Hockey Association in Eastern Canada competed against the Abbott Cup champions Winnipeg Falcons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in Western Canada. In a two-game, total goal series, held at the Arena Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Winnipeg won their 1st Memorial Cup, defeating Stratford 11 goals to 9.
Today, Mercer Raceway Park is one of the region's top dirt tracks running Saturday nights beginning late March and continuing into early October. Regular racing divisions included the 410 Sprints, 358 Modifieds, Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Mod Lites, Stock Cars and Mini Stocks. Touring series that visit the track include the: UFO Late Models, Auto Racers for Kids Charities, All Star Sprint Circuit of Champions, All-American Sprint Nationals Pulling, BRP Modified Tour, and ARDC Sprint Midgets.

He won his first Grand National championship in Denver, Colorado; scored 52 victories and set eight track records; and won the Pacific Northwest Indoor championships.
John Wayne Parsons1975 Indianapolis 500 Radio Broadcast - Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network (May 25, 1975) (born August 26, 1944 in Van Nuys, California) is an American race car driver. He is the son of 1950 Indianapolis 500 winner Johnnie Parsons and Arza Parsons (née Mitchell). His parents divorced, and Johnny was raised with half-brothers Dana and Pancho Carter, the product of Arza's marriage with Duane Carter. The Carters grew up racing quarter-midgets in Indianapolis.

Miller grew up in the Lakeville, Minnesota, area. He began racing quarter midgets at the age of 12 and eventually ran various hobby stock series races, winning many races. He had 22 starts in the American Speed Association with three top tens. He also competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series scoring five wins in his rookie year with Country Joe Racing, easily clinching 2005 Rookie of the Year, but finished second to Frank Kimmel for the championship.
In her first year of competition she was the first girl ever to be named Rookie of the Year. For five consecutive years she was state and regional champion, and was one of the top ten drivers nationally. She later switched to racing the heavier, faster, half-midgets. At 18 she dropped out of college, bought her first sprint car, and began racing at Skagit Speedway in Mount Vernon, Washington, where she was the first woman sprint car driver.
Macon Speedway remained in the Webb family for many years. Wayne Webb and his brother Lloyd ran Macon under the promotional name of Webb Enterprises, which also held other events at other venues, such as demolition derbies at county fairs in the surrounding area. The Webbs hosted the most varied programs in the track's 60+ year history. Almost every kind of motor-vehicle race, from USAC Midgets and Sprints, to unsanctioned Outlaw Late Model races, were held there.

William Alfred Merchant (31 July 1919 – 26 May 2001), was an English dwarf clown who performed under the name of "Little Billy" Merchant. Born in a workhouse in Barton Hill, Bristol, Merchant was abandoned by his parents as a young child and brought up in an orphanage in Bristol. As an adult, he was only tall. Merchant was fascinated by his local variety theatre, the Bristol Empire, where a chance encounter in 1937 resulted in his recruitment into John Lester's troupe of midgets.
Growing up in a racing family, Moffitt cut his teeth in go-karts at age fourteen and later moved up to quarter midgets and limited late models, running at tracks like Caraway Speedway and Ace Speedway. Speaking about having racers in the family, he said that advice will be given upon request but also that older relatives wanted him to develop without help. Moffitt was the 2016 Southeast Limited Late Model champion, and won his first late model race earlier that year.

Mosport Speedway was a oval speedway located on the northwest corner of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The track featured straightaways, 6-degree banked corners and two grandstands with seating for 8,500. Mosport Speedway The oval was constructed in 1989 as a dirt track originally called Mosport's Ascot North, named after the famous Ascot Park track in Gardena, California. The first event was scheduled in July 1989 and was to feature USAC Midgets and Sprint Cars and the World of Outlaws.
Several unique things occurred at this tricky track during its short life span. Built for Midget racing, the asphalt race track hosted the quick open-wheeled machines during its inaugural season, within its inaugural 1947 season, Midget racing was king with Bill Schindler and his #2 taking down a season-high 4 features. Other winners that year were Lloyd Christopher, Joe Sostillio and Ted Tappet. Running mostly on Wednesday nights, the midgets also ran twice on Sundays and one Friday back in '47.

Admission to see these curiosities or exhibits required an extra fee. Some sideshows featured a single exhibit, but some had multiple acts or exhibits under one tent (slang term: Ten-in-One). Human acts may include people with multiple arms or legs, midgets, extremely tall people, obese people, people born with facial or other deformities, and tattooed people.
"Sleepy" was born Ronald James Tripp to parents Barbara and Gerald Tripp, August 13, 1953, and he was raised with his older brother, Bob and younger sister, Karen in Costa Mesa, California. Growing up in a racing family had the boys racing at a very young age, winning their way into the record books. The boys raced in Quarter midgets, winning numerous trophies along the way. They then tried their hand in motorcycles, before jumping up to the full-size midget cars.

Coughlin started his career in drag racing, competing in the National Hot Rod Association's Jr. Drag Racing League, but eventually switched to oval track racing. He began in USAC quarter midgets, winning five races in 2009. The following year, he switched to Late models, and joined the JEGS/CRA All-Stars in 2011. In eleven races, Coughlin finished in the top ten in all but one, while also recording four top-five finishes with a best finish of second at Rockford Speedway.

As a youth, Campbell played in the 2005 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Detroit Little Caesars minor ice hockey team. He eventually graduated to the Detroit Honeybaked midgets from which he was drafted 108th overall in the 2008 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Despite his selection, Campbell joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) in 2008. In his second season within the North American Hockey League (NAHL), Campbell received the Dave Peterson Goalie of the Year Award.

Throughout the 1980s, Schild consistently raced hard on various other circuits including Midgets and Sprint cars (Texas Super Sprinters) on various dirt tracks in Texas. Afterward, he returned to asphalt, including another trip down Victory lane at the Lubri Lon Grand Prix at Texas World Speedway in the TIDA (Texas International Driver's Association). Schild competed in various Late Model Stock Car events in this decade.

Ronald B. Duman (February 12, 1929 - June 9, 1968), was an American racing driver who competed in the USAC Championship Car series and the Indianapolis 500. Duman was an accomplished driver in sprints and midgets, and won the prestigious Little 500 at Anderson Speedway in 1959 and 1960. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, Duman later moved to Speedway, Indiana and lived practically across the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He drove in the USAC Championship Car series from 1961 to 1968.
The United States Auto Club (USAC) is one of the sanctioning bodies of auto racing in the United States. From 1956 to 1979, USAC sanctioned the United States National Championship, and from 1956 to 1997 the organization sanctioned the Indianapolis 500. Today, USAC serves as the sanctioning body for a number of racing series, including the Silver Crown Series, National Sprint Cars, National Midgets, Speed2 Midget Series, .25 Midget Series, Stadium Super Trucks, TORC: The Off-Road Championship, and Pirelli World Challenge.
Ricky Williams (October 4, 1956 – November 21, 1992), also known as Ricky Tractor, was an American musician based in San Francisco. He is best known as a vocalist and lyricist, but also played drums and guitar. He was the second drummer for Crime (1976–77), the original singer for Flipper (1979) and The Sleepers (1977–81), and vocalist for Toiling Midgets (1981–83). He has been credited with giving Flipper their band name, although he was fired before they made any recordings.
Terry Labonte was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1956. He was introduced to racing through his father, who had worked on race cars as a hobby for his friends. He started racing quarter midgets when he was seven and won a national championship at nine before moving onto the local short tracks in a stock car as a teenager. Driving on both dirt and asphalt, he won track championships in his hometown, in Houston, and in San Antonio from 1975 to 1977.
The 1930s gave birth to noted teams such as the Oshawa Generals, St. Michael's Majors and the Toronto Marlboros. Other notable teams of that era were the Toronto Young Rangers, Toronto Native Sons, and the Stratford Midgets. The 1940s welcomed new communities to the limelight such as the Barrie Flyers, Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters, Stratford Kroehlers and the St. Catharines Teepees. The first version of the Windsor Spitfires also appeared in the 1940s only to fade away in the early 1950s.
Lyle Ross Jr. started his basketball career as co-captain of the Ateneo Midgets who held a record of 24-1. From 1963-1967 he was a member of the Ateneo Juniors, as co-captain they won the NCAA Championship with an undefeated record. In 1966 and 1967 he was a part of the NCAA Juniors Mythical Five. During his college years he was a member of the senior Blue Eagle team for his four years at Ateneo de Manila University.
John Andretti was born on March 12, 1963 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to "Corky" and Aldo Andretti. As a member of the famous Andretti racing family he was predestined for a racing career. Starting with karts at a young age, he graduated in time to junior stock cars and USAC midgets. Andretti graduated from Moravian College with a degree in business management and later reflected he would have been an investment banker or stock broker if he had not started racing.
The Terriers were founded in 2004, by former National Hockey League player Chris O'Sullivan and his brother Kevin. Since 2004, the Terriers have also competed in the Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF) having more than 20 age groups from the mite level to midgets. In 2009, the Terrier teams located out of Rockland, Massachusetts changed their name to the Boston Little Rangers before changing back to the Terriers in 2011. In June 2011, current General Manager Brian Yandle joined the Terriers.
Growing up on the west coast of America, Ankrum started racing quarter midgets and later moved up to late models. He won his first late model race at Caraway Speedway at age 14. Ankrum continues to run super late model races around the country, winning Hickory Motor Speedway's Fall Brawl in 2015 and finishing third in the 2018 Rattler 250. He switched to the super late model in late 2015 after one year running the CARS Tour in the Late Model Stock division.
For a time, some Midget models were used as promotional models for Mobil Gas, and recognizable by their red and white boxes. These were packaged similar to regular Midgets but called "Mobil Midget Models" and displaying a Mobil gas pump on boxes and instruction sheet (Fun Ho! webpage No date.) Some dies later arrived in Australia and were produced under the name Message Models. These were apparently the Jaguar Mk 10, Ford Thames Ute, Holden HR Ute, Holden HR sedan, and Chevrolet Bel Air (Johnson 1998, 80).

In a driving career that spanned almost 40 years, Craig Hill raced and won in almost every type of racing car, from midgets and super-modified stock cars to sports cars and sophisticated open- wheel formula cars. He was Canadian Formula B champion in 1969 and 1970, driving a Formula Ford he modified to formula B spec. He co-drove with Ludwig Heimrath to win the Sundown Grand Prix in 1973 and 1974. He was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 1996.
In 1969 Heveron began racing at the Syracuse Geddes Microd Track at the New York State Fairgrounds when he was 8 years old. When he was 13 years old, Heveron started racing quarter midgets. When he was attending Liverpool High School, he spent time helping regionally known racer Jim Shampine at Shampine Auto Parts. He entered the supermodified ranks in 1978 in one of Shampine's cars known as the "8 ball". Heveron used the car to become the youngest winner at Oswego Speedway in the Alean 75.

Sir John Arthur Brabham, (2 April 1926 – 19 May 2014) was an Australian racing driver who was Formula One World Champion in , , and . He was a founder of the Brabham racing team and race car constructor that bore his name. Brabham was a Royal Australian Air Force flight mechanic and ran a small engineering workshop before he started racing midget cars in 1948. His successes with midgets in Australian and New Zealand road racing events led to his going to Britain to further his racing career.
The park featured regular outdoor concerts, and it had a roller rink. The park hosted burlesque shows, and performers like Annette Kellerman, Bill Cody and Sophie Tucker performed at the park regularly. Daredevil aeronautic shows of performers like Horace Wild were also common at the park. Midget City was a popular exhibit that featured 50 men and women who all had dwarfism; at the time, the word used to describe them was 'midgets,' and working the carnival circuit was one of the few jobs open to them.
Desjardins grew up in the small town of Lively, Ontario, and played his minor hockey for the Onaping Falls Huskies (NOHA) until the bantam level in the 2001–02 season. After that year, he was selected in the 15th round, 295th overall, of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)'s 2002 Priority Selection by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He spent the following 2002–03 season playing for the Rayside-Balfour SabreCats Midgets of the Great North Midget League (NOHA) before making the Greyhounds roster the following year.
On August 9, 1908 Gene Packard pitched a perfect game for the Independence Jewelers against the Bartlesville Boosters, with 10 strikeouts. On July 2, 1930, Independence pitcher Colonel Bob House had nineteen strikeouts against the Springfield Midgets, which was a Western Association league record for strikeouts in a single game. Four days later the Producers had eight home runs in a game against the Muskogee Chiefs setting a league record. The Independence Yankees were formed in 1947 as an expansion team in the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League.
For 1979, a one-time doubleheader of two separate Midget racing events were scheduled for the same day (Saturday May 26). The first event was held at Indianapolis Raceway Park, a doubleheader of the USAC Midgets and the Formula Super Vee-based Mini Indy Series. The management at IRP decided to move their event to the daytime due to the rising cost of lighting the track. The event was billed as the Volkswagen's Day Before the 500, as the Formula Super Vee cars used Volkswagen engines.
Chater, Dela Cruz and Fabay also took the DJ show around Australia, calling themselves the Magic Midgets. Brains was a monthly club-night held outdoors behind the tiny Melbourne bar St Jeromes', and featured regular DJ sets from the Avalanches' Chater, Seltmann and Di Blasi. St Jeromes' was shut down in March 2009. Their Brains' performances were usually soca-inspired DJ sets, but included anything from the Highlife guitar music of West Africa to unusual re-edits of 1980s acid house tracks, and sometimes new Avalanches material.
Barty was a noted activist for the promotion of rights for others with dwarfism. He was disappointed with contemporary Hervé Villechaize's insistence that they were "midgets" instead of actors with dwarfism. Barty founded the Little People of America organization to help people with dwarfism in 1957 when he called upon people of short stature to join him in a get-together in Reno, Nevada. That original meeting of 21 people grew into Little People of America, a group which as of 2010 has more than 6,800 members.
During the mid-1960s, at the time of the State Fair in September, the speedway hosted a special "Triple Header" event. A 50 lap modified-sportsman race and two 25 lap races, one for URC Sprint Cars and one for ARDC Midgets was staged. These were some of the most exciting races for local drivers to compete on the 1 mile asphalt track. The likes of the colorful drivers of the era were named "Jiggs" Peters, "Gig" Stephens, "Wiggles" Johnson and "Pee Wee" Griffin.

He declared bankruptcy in 1947, stating assets of $146 (equal to about $ today) He returned to vaudeville; he appeared at the Anderson Free Fair in 1949 alongside Singer's Midgets. He became a friend of heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali in the 1960s, converting to the Nation of Islam shortly before. After 1953, Perry appeared in cameos in the made-for-television movie Cutter (1972) and the feature films Amazing Grace (1974) and Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood (1976).Clark, Champ (2005).
Gannis started racing in quarter midgets in 1999; from 1999–2003, she recorded 15 top fives in 18 races. In 2005, she started Legends car racing, and two years later, began racing super late models. At Tucson Raceway Park, she was the youngest female driver to race at the track. From 2009–2011, Gannis was named a member of NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program. In 2010, she ran a USAR Pro Cup Series race at Langley Speedway, suffering mechanical problems and failing to complete a lap.
John purchased two Quarter Midget cars from Paul Stornetta of Napa, California for US$450, and brought them home to Gordon's surprise. Although Carol was not pleased at first, John convinced her that Quarter Midgets are safer, and she later drove with her son on a makeshift track John created at the Solano County Fairgrounds. Gordon's first car, which was black, was known as the "fuzz car." In this car, Gordon ran over an estimated 2,000 laps around a flat surface at the fairgrounds.
The Arkley is an English automobile that was manufactured by John Britten Garages workshops at Arkley in the London Borough of Barnet. The first model was a two-seater called Arkley SS, designed by John Britten in 1970 (not to be confused with the famous New Zealand motorcycle designer, John Britten). The retro "bug-eyed" design was inspired by a mixture of the Morgan and the original Austin-Healey Sprite. The main purpose was recycling old rusty or damaged Austin-Healey Sprites or MG Midgets.
Tony Stewart got his first competitive go kart in Westport, Indiana in 1979. In 1980, he won his first championship. He grew up racing go karts and was successful very early, winning a World Karting Association championship in 1987. He moved up to the United Midget Racing Association (UMRA) where he raced TQ (three quarter) midgets until 1991, when he again moved up this time to the United States Auto Club (USAC) series with help from one of his karting sponsors and friend Mark Dismore.
Martin's career began in quarter midgets when he just was seven years old. His racing experience also includes Bandoleros, Legend cars, the FASTRUCK Series, and the FASCAR Pro Truck Series. He received the nickname "Little Intimidator" due to his driving style. In 2003, Martin was signed to a driver development contract with the Ford Motor Company, making him the youngest member of the Ford racing family. By 2004 at age 13, Martin had five wins in the FastKids division of the FASTRUCK Series, a series for youths aged 12 to 17.
The Frankford Athletic Association not only fielded the Yellow Jackets football team, but also the Yellow Jackets' Band and the Frankford Legion Post 211 Drum & Bugle Corps. The Association also sponsored bus and train trips for fans to travel along to games in such places as Pottsville and New York City, where even the host teams' sportswriters took notice of their enthusiasm. The club occasionally sponsored half-time exhibitions by the Frankford Midgets, as well as a women's football team. The latter is the first evidence of women playing organized football (in 1926).
Peterborough Speedway is a 1/3 mile semi-banked short track motor racing oval, located west of the city of Peterborough, in Cavan, Ontario, Canada. The Speedway’s weekly Saturday night racing program runs from May to October each year, featuring Bone Stocks, Mini Stocks, Renegade Trucks, Legends, Super Stock and Late Models. The track regularly features touring series including the APC United Late Model Series, OSCAAR Modifieds and Hot Rods, Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models, Can-Am Midgets and their season finishes with the annual Autumn Colours Classic weekend.
After the war Ed joined Zeke at Kurtis- Kraft where they helped build many of the now legendary Kurtis-Kraft midget, Indy cars, and sports cars. During their time at Kurtis-Kraft, Ed and Zeke opened a separate shop in Glendale, California where they would do race car fabrication and repair. This was filling the need caused by the tremendous demand at the time and also Kurtis-Kraft's lack of time to address repairs due to the production of new cars. Kurtis-Kraft midgets were available in completed form or also in "kit" form.
She was born Margaret Williams in Tuscumbia, Alabama, U.S. When she was helping a relative in a potato chip booth at the Tennessee State Fair, a group of little people came by and asked if she wanted to join their show, Henry Kramer's Midgets. "At that time I didn't think I was a midget," says Pellegrini (who then stood about ). In the film, Pellegrini played a "sleepyhead" flower pot and Munchkin villager. After the film, she married Willie Pellegrini (an average-sized ex-fighter) and had two children.
He exhibited this prowess in the sumo ring in the third movie. Fat Bastard is noted for his foul temper, his emotional monologues that culminate in flatulence, his vulgar, crude manners, and his unusual diet. These go as far as to include a cannibalistic taste for human infants and midgets, whom he gluttonously calls, "The other, other white meat". In 1937, The Showground was claimed to the fastest speedway in the world by the tracks promoters. The egg shaped track was also the site of some spectacular crashes, some unfortunate deaths and a lot of spectacular racing. Although solos were first to race at the showground on 21 July 1926, they were soon joined by sidecars and Speedcars (also known as Midgets but called Speedcars in Australia). In the 1950s stock cars began to appear joined much later by demolition derbies and jumping motorcycles over buses and the Royale would attract huge spectator attendance.
After starting racing with quarter midgets at age five, Miller spent his formative years racing on Michigan short tracks, some being the same as Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers Brad Keselowski and Erik Jones. He focused on Owosso Speedway, driving late models. Miller also competed in super late models, Pro All Stars Series, New Smyrna Speedway's Speedweeks and the 602 Tour. In 2015, he signed with Wauters Motorsports to run super late models in the CARS Super Series, PASS Late Model Series and the Southern Super Series.
To complicate matters further, both Steve and Jack are deeply in love with Weescoosa, who has spent eternity searching for her one true love. Sadly, whenever it looks like she has found him, he dies. The defeat of the Atomic Shopping Carts leads to another problem for Vileness Flats – the Bell Boys, a gang of midgets who live in the desert on the other side of the bridge. They disguise themselves as meat in order to cross the now-safe bridge, to steal the real meat from the village.
The 1947 Little League World Series took place from August 21 through August 23, when the first Little League Baseball championship tournament was played at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Maynard Midgets of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, defeated the Lock Haven All Stars of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, 16–7 to win the championship. The event was called the National Little League Tournament, as the "World Series" naming was not adopted until . In 1947, the board of directors for the original Little League decided to organize a tournament for the 17 known Little League programs.
Kerlabo. In Australia and in the United States, there are the dirt track racing, close to rallycross but with two big differences, the vehicles are sprint cars, late models, modifieds and midgets instead and they usually run in oval dirt tracks. In Great Britain, they have the British autocross where the pioneers of the rallycross started. In other Europeans countries there is the autocross, similar to british one but with the cars starting the race at the same time, like the rallycross. Also there is the crosskart racing.
Comstock started driving race cars in the 1930s and drove to the late 1960s. Comstock was a multi-talented driver who drove midgets, sprint cars, super- modify and stock cars. He had many wins on the short tracks around the country and was considered by many to be one of the top drivers from his area. In his career spanning from 1950 to 1955, Gene racked up one top-five position, six top-ten positions, 3038.6 miles of racing experience, and $2,549 ($ when adjusted for inflation) in take home pay.
When the students arrive all tutor groups welcomes the ruslings with the infamous Marbjergmark show- usually a display of wacky sketches such as naked people playing chess, smashing rotten eggs at bystanders or themselves or guys chasing midgets with a butcher's knife (to name a few examples). During the two-week period the tutor group teach and introduce the new students to life at campus. Both the social and educational aspects. As it is with the preparation period, festive activities take place after 4 PM, and educational activities are held during the day.
After his major league career ended, Schmidt continued to play in the minor leagues for another 15 years, including stints with the Providence Grays (1912), Mobile Sea Gulls (1913-1916), Vernon Tigers (1916), Memphis Chickasaws (1917), Sioux City Indians (1919), Tulsa Oilers (1919), Fort Smith Twins (1920-1921), Atlanta Crackers (1921-1922), Springfield Midgets (1924), and Kalamazoo Celery Pickers (1926). He served as a player-manager at Mobile (1915-1916), Sioux City (1917, 1919), Fort Smith (1920-1921), Springfield (1924), and Kalamazoo (1926). He also managed the Quincy Red Birds in 1927.
Irwin grew up in Indianapolis and was the third youngest of four children. He began racing quarter-midgets before he was in the second grade. He graduated from Lawrence North High School in 1988 where he played varsity soccer, while continuing his career as a driver. Between 1988 and 1991, he earned his SCCA competition license and competed in the GT1 category, driving a turbocharged Buick Grand National, then raced for his father in the IMSA American Challenge (road racing) stock car series, all while he was still a teenager.
The Oakland Speedway was the first motor racing track near Oakland, California, a one-mile, banked dirt oval track built in 1931, which operated throughout the Great Depression and postwar years. The track featured AAA National Championship races with Indy cars and drivers from 1931 until 1936, when the AAA pulled out of the West Coast. Thereafter the track still featured racing by members of the Bay Cities Racing Association, in roadsters and motorcycles, as well as Big Cars, stock cars, and midgets. It was known as the "fastest dirt track in the Nation".

Gordon won all 25 races he entered in his first year of karting competition, and won all 12 races he entered in his second year. Between 1981 to 1982, Gordon won three California State Monza Championships; he also won his second Grand National championship in Sunnyvale during the latter year. By the age of twelve, Gordon had won over two hundred races in Quarter Midgets and go-karts. One of Gordon's fondest go-kart memories was competing against former Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) in Corona, California.
His younger cousin, James Bickford, currently competes in the K&N; Pro Series West. Gordon attended Tri-West Hendricks High School in Lizton, Indiana and was on the school's cross country team; he graduated in 1989. When he was four years old, Gordon rode a BMX bike that his stepfather bought for him and began racing quarter midgets at the age of five. The Roy Hayer Memorial Race Track (previously the Cracker Jack Track) in Rio Linda, California is noted as the first track Gordon ever competed on.
In 1971 the league first allowed "underage" midgets to be picked in the first three rounds. In 1972 disagreements about the Toronto team's rights to its "Marlie" players (and Greg Neeld) and claims to American player Mark Howe led to a revised system. In 1973 each team was permitted to protect 8 midget area players (Toronto was allowed to protect 10 players from its midget sponsored teams). In 1975 the league phased out the area protections, and the 1976 OHA midget draft was the first in which all midget players were eligible.
Air Base Speedway, originally named (and interchangeably called) Textile Speedway or Greenville Textile Speedway and often confused with Greenville Pickens Speedway, was a motorsports half-mile and quarter-mile dirt track facility located south of Greenville, South Carolina. It was located south of Donaldson Air Force Base, which was active during the same time period as the track. This track eventually featured several types of racing, including motorcycles, midgets, and stock cars. Air Base Speedway, as it was then officially named, hosted one NASCAR Grand National Division race, on August 25, 1951.
On 24 May 2008, the official UK golden anniversary of the introduction of the Austin Healey Sprite, "Spridget 50The Big Party" was held at the British Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire. Up to 1000 Sprites, Midgets and derivatives were in attendancea record number. The event was jointly organised and promoted by the UK's Midget and Sprite Club, Healey Drivers Club, MG Owners Club, Austin Healey Club and MG Car Clubthe first time an event of this size has been supported by all of the marque-representing clubs.
James Florentine (born August 18, 1964) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, author and television personality. He is best known for co-hosting That Metal Show on VH1 Classic and voicing several characters on Crank Yankers, including Special Ed and Bobby Fletcher. He hosts Metal Midgets on Sirius XM Satellite Radio and a podcast called Everybody Is Awful (Except You). He has released six albums of stand-up comedy, two comedy specials, six installments in the Terrorizing Telemarketers prank call compilation, and three installments of the Meet the Creeps hidden camera show.
Outside of New York, London, and Cleveland, San Francisco probably had the earliest punk scene, at least as far back as 1976. The scene was aided by San Francisco's famously laid back attitude towards alternative lifestyles, and the legendary record label Alternative Tentacles. Crime and the Nuns were first, followed by Chrome, the Mutants, the Units, the Contractions, Angst, the Sleepers, Pop-O-Pies, Frightwig, Crucifix, Negative Trend, the Avengers, Toiling Midgets, Flipper and Romeo Void. The most influential San Francisco hardcore band was Dead Kennedys, whose frontman, Jello Biafra, became a noted social activist.

Her extensive spinal surgery was a focus in this show. In 2015 she appeared on two major UK television shows, both on BBC: The John Bishop Show and Live at the Apollo.
He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1980, and named a "Cleveland Brown Legend" by the team in 2006. He serves as a color commentator on Browns radio broadcasts. Bob Tattersall (1924–1971) was known as the "King of Midget Car Racing" in the 1950s and 1960s in both the US and Australia. Tattersall had a long list of victories, including the 1960, 1962, 1966 and 1969 Australian Speedcar Grand Prix (Midgets are known as Speedcars in Australia), while his crowning achievement was when he won the 1969 USAC National Midget Series.
Wallace Andrew "Wally" Hebert (August 21, 1907 – December 8, 1999) was a sidearming left-handed Major League Baseball starting pitcher who played from 1931 to 1933 for the St. Louis Browns and in 1943 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. His professional career began in 1930. Hebert played for the Springfield Midgets in 1930, going 15–16 in 36 games. He rose to the big leagues quickly, making his debut on May 1, 1931, with the Browns. That season, Hebert went 6–7 with a 5.07 ERA in 23 games (13 starts).
Hapka had his first credited role in James Franco's 2007 feature film Good Time Max, but is best known for his starring role as the spirit 'Zach' in 2007 and 2008 in the television series Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side and Ghost Whisperer. He won the role when producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander chose him as a 'fresh face' with an 'It Guy' quality. Following this, he appeared in the television series Greek and had a minor role on Days of Our Lives as an older Johnny DiMera. In 2009, he appeared in the films Second Sight and Midgets Vs. Mascots.
Before World War II, Byron raced in the AAA Indy series, mainly in Sprint Cars and Midgets. He achieved his first Stock Car victory in July, 1941, while on a two-day liberty from training with the USAAF, and with the war intervening, did not return to racing for five years. When he returned from the war, Byron, limp and all, returned to racing, and with the help of race engineer Red Vogt was still successful. He won his first race following the war at Seminole Speedway, near Orlando, in 1946, beating Roy Hall and Bill France.
Rockford Speedway hosted two ARCA Racing Series events between 1987 and 1988. The track holds events in the ARCA Midwest Tour Series, Must-See Xtemem Sprint Car Series, Mid American Stock Car Series events, Big 8 Limited Late Model Touring Series, Midwest Dash 4 cylinder touring series, monster trucks, and enduros. Series that held races at the track include: NASCAR Midwest Series, the Wisconsin Challenge Series, ASA Late Model Series Northern Division, and USAC National Midgets. In 2016 the speedway hosted the World of Outlaws sprint cars and late models in an event called the Outlaw Clay Classic.
At first Schonberg drove the homemade device, powered by a modified JAP motorcycle engine built by Brabham in his workshop. In 1948, Schonberg's wife persuaded him to stop racing and on his suggestion Brabham took over. He almost immediately found that he had a knack for the sport, winning on his third night's racing. From there he was a regular competitor and winner in Midgets (known as Speedcars in Australia) at tracks such Sydney's Cumberland Speedway, the Sydney Showground, and the Sydney Sports Ground, as well as interstate tracks such as Adelaide's Kilburn and Rowley Park speedways and the Ekka in Brisbane.
Doell grew up in Saskatoon playing his last year of minor hockey for the AAA Saskatoon Blazers Midgets of the SMHL. He then moved onto play for the Melfort Mustangs Jr.A. team of the SJHL. Undrafted, Doell played for the University of Denver Pioneers, where he was an All-WCHA selection in 2003. After completing his collegiate career Doell was invited to the Atlanta Thrashers training camp on September 12, 2003. Reassigned from the Thrashers training camp to AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, Doell signed a one-year contract at the start of the 2003–04 season.
The track has been flooded at least once for boat races to take place within the walls of the track. Modifieds and midgets were a track staple until 1987, when they were completely phased out of weekly racing. Along with the modifieds were a division that lasted from 1982 to 1987, called the mini modifieds. Dominic Venditti had introduced the division formerly known as the all-pro division after a visit to the mid-west, where he received inspiration for a series similar to modern-day super late models, with the intent of replacing the modifieds.
In the 1970s, modern Sprint Car racing and Late Models were the weekly divisions along with Midgets, Street Stocks and Limited Late Models making routine appearances throughout the decade. In 1972, 4 July weekend Jim Adams won both features of a double header in a Late Model Friday night and another win Saturday night at Selinsgrove for three feature wins in 24 hours. By 1970, Jack Gunn was in his 3rd year of promoting the speedway. He was instrumental in bringing the best talent to the area to race each week, many who decided to stay and call Central Pennsylvania home.
The NASCAR Modified Division was formed as part of NASCAR's creation in December 1947. NASCAR held a modified race as its first sanctioned event, on February 15, 1948, on the beach course at Daytona Beach, Florida. Red Byron won the event and 11 more races that year, and won the first NASCAR Modified Championship. (The Strictly Stock Division, which evolved into today's premier Cup Series, did not race until 1949.) Post-World War II modifieds were a form of "stock car" (contrasted against purpose-built AAA championship cars, sprints, and midgets) which allowed some modification, typically substitution of stronger truck parts.
Lilliput is an Indian comedy actor and writer for the TV series Vikram Vetaal and Bollywood films. His real name is M. M. Faruqui. He adopted the screen name taking a cue from Lilliput and Blefuscu, two island nations in Jonathan Swift's novel Gulliver's Travels where Gulliver lands onto an island peopled by midgets. He is best known for writing Doordarshan's popular science fiction series Indradhanush and films such as Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Saagar (1985), and popular 90s sitcoms like Dekh Bhai Dekh , Natkhat and Mr. Funtoosh, and for starring in Woh (1998) as Woh.
He was born on June 12, 1927 in Tucson, Arizona. Cheesbourg started racing jalopies in Tucson and successfully moved into midgets racing all over Arizona after World War II. He drove in the USAC Championship Car series, racing in the 1956-1962 and 1964-1966 seasons with 31 starts, including the Indianapolis 500 races in 1957-1959, 1961, 1964, and 1965. He finished in the top ten 8 times, with his best finish in 7th position in 1959 at Daytona and in 1966 at Fuji. Cheesbourg returned to the local dirt short track racing scene after his Indy Car career was finished.
In fall 1927, Lewiston was hired as the assistant to Arthur Hoffman of the Morris and Castle carnival. He prepared the opening of Singer's Midgets show at the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport, Iowa, where he also talked up the show on the midway and sold tickets. It was at this time that he met his future wife Rose Adelstein, who was working with Morris and Castle as a mentalist/fortuneteller under the name "Lady Zindra." Lewiston stayed on with Morris and Castle the following year, and was named the manager of the "Broadway review" show.
While this was a booming period of increasing popularity both nationwide and worldwide, the dwindling number of American-born competitors was a point of contention for some fans and owners. In addition, the feeder series and "ladder" for arriving at Indy evolved from USAC sprints and midgets to predominantly formula-style road racing. Many of the top drivers on the circuit were now moving up from such disciplines as Can-Am, SCCA Super Vee, Atlantics, Indy Lights, and IMSA. Rick Mears won the Indy 500 four times (1979, 1984, 1988, 1991) during the CART era, all for Penske Racing.
Terry as Toto with Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz (1939) In the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, Toto was played by a female brindle Cairn Terrier named Terry. She was paid a $125 salary each week, which was more than some of the human actors (the Singer Midgets who played the Munchkins reportedly received $50 to $100 a week). Terry/Toto's memorial at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery During production, Terry's foot was broken when one of the Winkie guards accidentally stepped on it. A second dog had to be used while she healed.
Harlan "Hod" Preston (1917 – 1995) was an American automobile racer inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1936, Preston started racing jalopies and gradually raced roadsters, stock cars, and midgets. Preston raced with the Hurricane Hot Rod Club from Chicago, led by Andy Granatelli; with them he raced in Cincinnati, Ohio, Springfield, Illinois, Saint Louis, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Crown Point, Indiana, and Soldier Field in Chicago. In addition, Preston ran some outlaw races running at Dayton, Fremont, Ohio, Toledo, Ohio, Windsor, Ontario, New Castle, Indiana, Winchester, Indiana; Tampa, Florida and Orlando, Florida.
In the spring of 1945, it became obvious that Communist and pro-Soviet government of Poland would not refrain from using terror as a method of fighting the so-called Cursed soldiers. Apart from mass arrests and repressions, a widespread propaganda operation was carried out, in which soldiers of the former Home Army were presented as "imperialists" and "drivelling midgets of reaction". With the help from Soviet forces, thousands of World War II heroes ended up in prisons across Poland. Northern Lesser Poland, with the cities of Kielce and Radom, was one of main centers of anticommunist resistance.
The term "midget" came into prominence in the mid-19th century after Harriet Beecher Stowe used it in her novels Sunny Memories of Foreign Lands and Old Town Folks where she described children and an extremely short man, respectively. P. T. Barnum indirectly helped popularize the term "midget" when he began featuring General Tom Thumb, Lavinia Warren and Commodore Nutt in his circus. "Midget" became linked to referencing short people put on public display for curiosity and sport. Barnum's midgets, however, were elevated to a position of high society, given fantasy military titles, introduced to dignitaries and royalty, and showered with gifts.
Constructed in the late 1920s as a flat half-mile dirt oval, the Jenners Fairgrounds, as the speedway was then known, played host to ‘big car’ racing (forerunners to the sprint cars of today) during the 1930s. Among the leading local drivers of that era were Butch Gardner and the ‘Pennsylvania coal miner’, Mike (Little) Serokman. Following World War II a smaller, lighted dirt quarter mile track was built in the infield in 1953. Laird Brunner became the first weekly promoter to present stock car racing, which had replaced the midgets as the post-war entertainment craze sweeping the nation.
The earlier model is easily identified with the vertical chrome bar radiator grill and was assembled between November 1967 and March 1970. The later model, with the black pressed metal radiator grill and slim bumper bars was assembled between April 1970 and December 1971. As there had not been any earlier Midget models assembled in Australia prior to these, these cars are sometimes referred to as Australian Mark 1 and Mark 2 Midgets. The earlier model had a chassis prefix of YGGN4 or YGN4, while the later model had a prefix of YGN5 and is commonly referred to as the "facelift" model.
In 1949 Briggs Cunningham met Phil Walters, who raced Midgets and Stock cars under the nom de course "Ted Tappet". Walters began driving for Cunningham, taking the wheel of the latter's Cadillac-powered Healey Silverstone the following year. Walters was also a partner with Bill Frick in Frick-Tappet Motors, which had started out as a Volkswagen and Porsche dealership but had begun building auto conversions called "Fordillacs" by installing new Cadillac V8 engines into 1949 Ford chassis. Cunningham bought a Fordillac after seeing one at a hill-climb, planning to enter it in the 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Skulhedface starts to drink the Jizmoglobin, when a transmission from Cardinal Syn comes in - he will "be arriving in the next movie" (which he does) to collect Jizmoglobin and subjugate the planet (which he attempts to do, but fails). Meanwhile, the telethon is still going well, and Gwar feasts their imminent departure from the planet. Beefcake the Mighty, however, spots Flopsy, who has come to lure him into a trap. Skulhedface removes his face, dons it herself, and tells Gwar of midgets in the basement (with which they could sate their sexual appetite one last time before leaving).
Tom Norman Tom Norman, born Thomas Noakes, (7 May 1860 – 24 August 1930), was an English businessman, showman and the last exhibitor of Joseph Merrick who was otherwise known as the "Elephant Man". Among his later exhibits were a troupe of midgets, a "Man in a Trance", "John Chambers the armless Carpenter", and the "World's Ugliest Woman". Norman started his working life as a butcher in Sussex before moving to London at the age of 14 where he sought a career on the music hall stage. There, he became interested in freak shows which he attended in his spare time.
Over the next few years, Norman's travelling exhibitions featured Eliza Jenkins, the "Skeleton Woman", a "Balloon Headed Baby" and a woman who bit off the heads of live rats—the "most gruesome" act Norman claimed to have seen. Other acts included fleas, fat ladies, giants, dwarves and retired white seamen, painted black and speaking in an invented language, billed "savage Zulus". He displayed a "family of midgets" which in reality was composed of two men and a borrowed baby. He operated a number of shops in London and Nottingham, and exhibited travelling shows throughout the country.
Dewey Gatson, better known as Rajo Jack or his pseudonym Jack DeSoto, (July 28, 1905 - February 27, 1956) was an American racecar driver. He is known as one of the first African American racers in America.Biography at the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame, written 2003, Retrieved November 8, 2007 He won races up and down the West Coast of the United States in stock cars, midgets, big cars and motorcycles. Rajo Jack was inducted in the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame in 2003 and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2007.
Van Riemsdyk attended Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey, before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for his junior year to play for the USA Hockey's National Team Development Program (NTDP). Prior to that, he played from Mite to his first year of Midgets for the Brick Hockey Club in Brick. Van Riemsdyk also played for the Eagles in Wall, New Jersey. Van Riemsdyk was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, following fellow American Patrick Kane, marking the first time in NHL history that Americans were chosen first and second overall in the same draft.
The New Zealand Speedway Grand Prix is a motorcycle speedway race part of the Speedway Grand Prix. The event is held at the Western Springs Stadium in Auckland. Western Springs is a permanent speedway venue which generally caters to car racing such as Sprintcars and Midgets, though it has also hosted Motorcycle speedway on many occasions, including 15 times as host of the New Zealand Individual Speedway Championship. At in length, Western Springs, which hosted the opening round of the SGP from 2012–2014, was one of the longest tracks used in the 25-year history of the series.
In October 1883 young men of the town were trying to establish a football club, although some years previous the town had cricket and football clubs which, was said, to have gained a good reputation. During the 1880s the game was played by a number of sides including the St Ives Midgets. These local sides ultimately merged towards the end of the decade, and on 12 October 1889, St Ives Rugby Football Club was officially formed. Early games were played at Lower Carnstabba and then Hellesvean before the club moved to its first proper ground at Higher Tregenna in 1899.
As many players complained about the forgettable story for the first game. Burch strived to make the narrative compelling and unique by subverting players' expectations and including a plotline so ridiculous that it cannot be found in any other triple-A games. Despite the script being seven times longer than the original's, the story was not too overbearing on players as the team believed that the essence of the game was about "finding progressively more ridiculous guns to blow up psychotic midgets" instead of the story. To achieve this, the team minimised the use of cutscenes and focused on environmental storytelling.
When he was seven years old, he began racing quarter midgets and began advancing into go-karts. At the age of 11, Leicht was participating in the Go Kart Nationals, when he collided with the flag stand and was sent flying from his racecar. He suffered a burst spleen as a result of the accident, and was kept out of racing for six months. At the age of 12, he began racing stock cars and got his GED to focus full-time on racing, and was named Motorsports Magazines Rising Star of the Year in 2000.
Aldershot Stadium was located in Oxenden Road, Tongham and staged Stock Car racing for the first time on 30 October 1954. Together with other short- circuit formulae (including Superstox, Hot Rods, Bangers and Midgets) racing was held regularly (every Thursday evening, every Boxing Day afternoon and later on Saturdays). The racing took place initially on a loose shale track inside the greyhound track; after Motorcycle speedway racing at the venue ceased the shale track was replaced with a hard tarmaced surface. The track was home to the Aldershot Knights for National League team racing in 1966 and again in 1971 and 1972.
It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and as many other components from existing cars as possible to keep costs down. When the Mk. II Sprite was introduced in 1961 it was joined by a badge-engineered MG version, the Midget, reviving a model name used by MG from the late 1920s through to the mid 1950s. Enthusiasts often refer to these later Sprites and Midgets collectively as "Spridgets." The MG- badged version of the car continued in production for several years after the Austin-Healey brand ceased to exist.
While acting as a manager, Giroux occasionally also wrestled as Dink, twice on Pay Per View. Dink's first PPV appearance was on March 20, 1994 at WrestleMania X, teaming with Doink to face Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon in a losing effort. Dink's second PPV appearance came at the 1994 Survivor Series where he was joined by fellow "Mini Clowns" Pink and Wink to make up the team Clowns'R'Us to face Jerry Lawler and his three "Mini Kings" – Sleazy, Cheesy and Queasy. After losing the match, all six midgets attacked Jerry Lawler and chased him from the ring.
MG racing driver and garage owner Dick Jacobs persuaded Abingdon to build a pair of special lightweight Midgets with a GT body shape inspired by the Aston Martin DB4. The roof used the front part of the standard Midget hardtop, while the rear portion and the windshield were custom. A quick release fuel filler was placed beneath the rear windshield to the right. The nose was redesigned by Syd Enever to improve the aerodynamic efficiency—wind tunnel tests showed that the new body required 13 hp less to achieve 100 mph than the standard body shape.
Love began racing at age five. Early in his career, he drove in the Quarter Midgets of America Series, where he won multiple races and championships before turning ten years old. He then went on to win championships in three different divisions of USAC in the same year, becoming the first driver to accomplish that. At age 13, Love, competing for Naake-Klauer Motorsports, was granted an age waiver to compete in the RPM Pro Late Model Series by Madera Speedway track promoter Kenny Shepherd due to his talent in the 51Fifty Energy Drink Jr. Late Model Series the prior year (in which he won another championship).
Ventura Raceway is located at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California. The 1/5 mile, high banked clay oval is owned and operated by Jim Naylor, who is also the track announcer. Ventura Raceway is also home to Cory Kruseman's Sprint Car Driving School and the VRA sprint cars. Since 2016, it has served as the home of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. A 1/2 mile dirt oval operated at the fairgrounds from July 28, 1924 through around 1927 (this track had run motorcycles from 1910 through 1923). A 1/5 mile dirt oval was used for midgets on November 11, 1934.
He survived the Sinestro Corps War without major injuries, and he continues to hold on to his position as keeper of the Book of Oa. He is kept out of the loop in some instances by the Guardians who neglected to tell him their plans to create the Alpha Lanterns. He is seen getting into an argument with Guy Gardner over a bar he wishes to open. Salaak quickly disapproves, which leads Guy to use his ring to make a miniaturized version of Salaak mocking him for "hanging out with midgets". Salaak is seen in Final Crisis #5 as part of the trial of Hal Jordan.
The speedway originally opened in 1969 as a 1/4 mile dirt track but was paved prior to the start of the 1971 season. The tracks weekly racing program features United 8's for eight cylinder late model cars, Combined 4's for four cylinder cars and Junior Late Models. The track also regularly features touring series including the APC United Late Model Series, Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup, OSCAAR Modifieds, Hot Rods and Pro Sprints, the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series, Can-Am Midgets and Legends car racing. The track was purchased in 2017 by local business owner Paul Gresel and NASCAR Pinty's Series driver Mark Dilley.

The final shot of the video reveals that the retirement home was specifically designated for the deaf, the joke being if they weren't impaired they would have left as soon as they noticed the band. The video is introduced by "Pat Minfield" (portrayed by Pop), a parody of Matt Pinfield, the host of MTV's music video show 120 Minutes (which is presented in the video as 120 Midgets). The intro sees Pop's Minfield, in a fashion similar to Pinfield, trying to make a connection between Alex Karras, Blazing Saddles, Mel Brooks, Anne Bancroft, The Graduate, Simon & Garfunkel, Diana Ross, The Wiz and Michael Jackson.

Some wrestlers may have their own specific "mini me", like Mascarita Sagrada, Alebrije has Quije, etc. There are also cases in which midgets can become valets for a wrestler, and even get physically involved in matches, like Alushe, who often accompanies Tinieblas, or KeMonito, who is portrayed as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre's mascot and is also a valet for Mistico. Dave Finlay was often aided in his matches by a midget known mainly as Hornswoggle while in WWE, who hid under the ring and gave a shillelagh to Finlay to use on his opponent. Finlay also occasionally threw him at his opponent(s).
Soon after the death of Tony Hulman in 1977, and the loss of several key USAC officials in a 1978 plane crash, several key team owners banded together and formed CART in late 1978 to sanction the sport of Indy car racing. The Indianapolis 500 itself, however, remained under the sanctioning control of USAC. It became the lone top-level race the body still sanctioned, as it ultimately dropped all other Indy car races (as well as their stock car division) to concentrate on sprints and midgets. For the next three years, the race was not officially recognized on the CART calendar, but the CART teams and drivers comprised the field.
Davis grew up in Colesville, Maryland as the son of an F-1 boat racer. He began competing in BMX, achieving US-2 and Gold Cup #1 rankings. It became the arbiter of rules, car design, and other matters for what it termed championship auto racing, the highest level of USAC racing. For a while there was a separate series of specifications for championship cars designed to be run on dirt, rather than paved, tracks. USAC's long history as an open-wheel racing sanctioning body continues today with the Silver Crown Series, National Sprint Car Series, National Midget Series, Ignite Ethanol Fuel Series, Quarter Midgets, and TORC Series. NASCAR drivers including Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, and Kasey Kahne honed their skills and captured championships while competing in various USAC series.
Nobuo Fujita with a plane of the type he flew over Sydney on 17 February 1942. The seaplanes aboard I-29 and I-21 were of the same type. The Japanese Navy used five Ko-hyoteki-class midget submarines in an unsuccessful operation against US battleships during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The navy hoped that upgrades to the submarines, intensified crew training, and the selection of a less well defended target would lead to better results and an increased chance of the crews of the midgets to return alive from their mission. Therefore, on 16 December 1941, the navy initiated plans for a second midget submarine operation.
Connerty was unable to put a deal together for Gordon to race in the upcoming 1991 season, citing the Gulf War and an uncertain economic future. Gordon remained grateful for the partnership, which he remembered as an "opportunity of a lifetime" in his 2003 memoir Racing Back to the Front. The 1990 season also marked his introduction to Ray Evernham—a man who would later play a central role in Gordon's NASCAR career—but for now the two would part ways, as Evernham returned to his home in New Jersey. Gordon returned to Indiana and continued to race midgets and sprints during NASCAR's off-season.
Originally an unpaved horse track, in 1954 Jimmie Collier convinced Snohomish County officials to allow him to convert the track for use in racing his Ford Model T roadster. The track was paved in the early 1960s and in 1967 the original bleachers were demolished and the current grandstands built. Through the years the track played host to a wide variety of racing events including Sprint Cars, Roadsters, Midgets, Figure Eights, Foreign Stock, Modified, Hobby Stocks, Jalopies, Limited Sportsmen, Demolition, Grand National, Winston West, NASCAR Northwest Tour, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Stinger-8, Hornets and Bombers. Evergreen Speedway also hosted the "500," the richest and most prestigious race in the west.
Originally from Decatur, Illinois, Landrith from age 10 to 14 played for the "Firemen's Midgets" team in the Detroit Amateur Baseball Federation. From 15 to 18, he played with a Class D advanced simon-pure group and as a catcher for Northwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan. At 15, he also would go to Briggs Stadium and help warmup starting pitchers for the Detroit Tigers and help to get Hank Greenberg into shape after Hank returned from military service. Landrith was discovered by the Cincinnati Reds after leading his Detroit team to a second-place finish in the 1948 National Junior Amateur Federation Tournament.

Defectors reported the existence of "collective camps for midgets", whose inmates were forbidden from having children.
In 2009, Coleman and his ex-wife were involved in a domestic dispute, after which Price was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, and both parties were cited for disorderly conduct. When Seth Meyers pointed out in one segment that the term "midget" was politically incorrect, Stefon corrected himself and referred to them as "fun-sized"; in a 2018 guest appearance alongside Colin Jost and Michael Che, Stefon brought his lawyer Shy (John Mulaney) to the segment to advise him the correct term was "little people". Some of the gangs that made up the original South Brooklyn Boys were the South Brooklyn Devils, the Garfield Boys, the SB Angels, SB Diablos, the Wanderers, the Degraw St boys, the Sackett St Boys, the Butler Gents, the Gowanus Boys, the Kane St. Midgets, The Savages, The Testors, The Senators, The Little Gents, and the Young Savages. The label South Brooklyn Boys represented the loosely connected affiliation that all of these neighborhood gangs associated under. In practice, these gangs often had bitter disputes and fought with each other. The main body, simply referred to as "South Brooklyn" by many, was located in and around the Red Hook Projects, which back in the 1950s was predominately Italian.

Type 97 Special torpedo, run aground at Garden Island, Sydney The Type 97 was a diameter torpedo used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Intended for use with Japan's Kō-hyōteki-class midget submarines, the torpedo was based on the 24-inch diameter Type 93 "Long Lance" used by Japanese surface vessels, but redesigned to meet the smaller 18-inch physical dimensions of the midgets' two torpedo tubes. Larger Japanese submarines were armed with the 21-inch Type 95 torpedo. It was not a great success. Its first operational use was in the attack on Pearl Harbor, after which it was modified as the Type 97 Special, sometimes known as the Type 98.
Norman remained a travelling showman for another 10 years following his encounter with Joseph Merrick, and exhibited, among others, a troupe of midgets, a 'Man in a Trance', John Chambers the armless Carpenter and the 'World's Ugliest Woman'. In 1893, he announced that he was leaving for Chicago and advertised his goods for sale, but in the end, he never went. Starting at Pikes Peak in 2005, he piloted the No. 4 GEICO Dodge for the Biagi Brothers Racing team, scoring several top fifteen finishes, and was rumored to be in the car full- time for the 2006 season, but was released in late November 2005, replaced by Mark Green when team owner Fred Biagi declined to renew his relationship with Chip Ganassi Racing. He remains under a driver development program contract with Chip Ganassi Racing. Hamlin's driving career starting in the Pacific Northwest at the age of 3, racing dirt ovals on a 50cc 3-wheeler. By the age of 6, he had moved up to Quarter midgets where he won 8 regional and 1 national championship.
Theodore "Ted" Christopher (June 5, 1958 – September 16, 2017) was an American professional racing driver and business owner who raced and won in many different types of race cars, including Modifieds, SK Modifieds, ISMA, Camping World East Series, Late Models, Pro Stocks, and Midgets. He also raced in NASCAR's now named Monster Energy Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Camping World Truck Series. He is best known for competing in NASCAR's Whelen Modified Tour, where he has over 40 victories and a championship in 2008. He was also well known for his success on the 1.058 mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway where Christopher has won five Camping World East Series events and 5 Whelen Modified Tour events.
For many years, the entry fee for the Indianapolis 500 provided a garage stall to the competitors not just for the month of May, but for the entire offseason as well. It was a valuable asset to some teams, especially small-budget teams without a race shop, and it would serve as their year-round headquarters. It was not uncommon for teams to even house other types of race cars there (sprints, midgets, stock cars) as they competed in the Indiana short track circuits during the summer. Even larger, more established teams still might use the garage stall for storage or as a staging location for cross-country trips to other races.
His awards are numerous; he is a three-time winner of the Western World Championship for sprint cars (1978, 1993, 1995) and he won the 1991 Chili Bowl midget car event. He also entered and won the Belleville Midget National Championships on the high banks in 1992. As well as racing in the United States, McSpadden was a frequent visitor to Australia, where he made guest appearances at "Australia vs the USA" nights at Parramatta City Raceway. He also won the 1995 Australian Speedcar Grand Prix (Midgets are called Speedcars in Australia), joining other American winners of the event including Cal Niday, Bob Tattersall, Jimmy Davies, Dave Strickland, A. J. Foyt, Ron "Sleepy" Tripp, Steve Kinser and Johnny Pearson.
In 1932, Fleming joined MGM and directed some of the studio's most prestigious films. Red Dust (1932), Bombshell (1933), and Reckless (1935) showcasing Jean Harlow, while Treasure Island (1934) and Captains Courageous (1937) brought a touch of literary distinction to boy's-own adventure stories. His two most famous films came in 1939, when The Wizard of Oz was closely followed by Gone with the Wind. The Lawley shipyard was the primary design yard and their drawings were shared by 9 other U.S. shipyards all building LCI(L) for the war effort. Lawley's Neponset shipyard was also asked by the U.S. Navy to pioneer the design and development of Landing Craft Support ships. The LCS(L)3 ships, ("Mighty Midgets") used the same hull and propulsion systems as the LCI(L), but had no facilities for landing troops on the beach. These well armed ships were requested by the US Navy in response to a need for a shallow draft ship that could approach the beaches and give substantial direct naval gunfire support (NGFS) to the newly landed troops.
The original commentators were primarily Bob Jenkins and Larry Nuber, who covered many diverse types of competition. Ultimately, by 1987, SpeedWorld's coverage encompassed not only Formula One, IndyCar, NASCAR Winston Cup (and its feeder series such as Busch Grand National, ASA, and ARCA), and IMSA Sportscar Racing, but also racing less familiar to the average person, such as NHRA drag racing, USAC sprints and midgets, rallying, motorcycle racing, monster trucks and more. So many types of racing that were vastly different meant that specialization in broadcasting teams was necessary, so while Jenkins and Nuber continued with Winston Cup coverage, newer faces such as Paul Page and Bob Varsha began to take their places for broadcasts of other racing.

He later won the Whelen All-American Series state championship in Ohio. He raced super late models in 2013 and 2014, winning the ARCA/CRA Super Series championship both of those years. Braden made his ARCA Menards Series debut in 2015, and won his first start in the series, passing William Byron near the end of the race at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Cameron continued to work as an entertainer throughout the 1930s and 1940s. He performed in the role of Gonzorgo in Babes in Toyland for two seasons, 1930 and 1931, with the Aborn Opera Company and Singer's Midgets, at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway. In 1934, he reunited with Leo Lee, from Tramp and Sidekicks, to star in a new show, Broadway to Withersville. It was a flop. Toward the end of the 1930s, Cameron launched his “drunk” nightclub act, There Is a Tavern in the Town, at the Old Fashioned Cafe in Boston, MA. Cameron could be heard on WPRO (AM) radio as the “Singing Salesman” and appeared on the WBZ television show, You’re On. Cameron retired from show business in 1947.
In the following years Crime changed their line-up several times. Ricky Tractor was fired (later appearing in groups such as Flipper, Toiling Midgets and The Sleepers) and was succeeded by Brittley Black (Larry Black) in 1977. After releasing one single, another double A-side, "Frustration" and "Murder by Guitar", Black was replaced by Hank Rank (Henry Rosenthal) that same year. In 1979, Greco left the band and was replaced by Joey D'Kaye (Joey Swails) on bass, who had been the band's sound engineer.Damage magazine, (1980) Issue No. 8Ugly Things Magazine, (1999) Issue No. 14 Greco and Black both returned for Crime's last release, the single "Maserati/Gangster Funk" in 1981, while D'Kaye moved to synthesizers and produced the recording.
Antoski played minor hockey for the Don Mills Flyers Midgets of the MTHL in 1986-87 and was drafted in the fourth round (59th overall) of the 1987 OHL priority selection. Antoski played his junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the North Bay Centennials, and was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round (18th overall) of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, just ahead of future superstars Keith Tkachuk and Martin Brodeur. Although his role was primarily that of an enforcer, Antoski was noted for his skating ability, which was exceptional for a player of his size. While his offensive ability was very limited, his speed and size made him a fearsome forechecker and a heavy bodychecker.
The track opened as a half mile dirt track in 1957 in West Salem, Wisconsin as part of the relocation of the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds from the site of Veterans' Memorial Stadium on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus. It originally ran a single annual International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) event and it was known as the La Crosse Inter-State Fairgrounds. The event featured IMCA "Big Car" (now known as sprint cars), midgets, and "New Model" stock cars (similar to stock cars raced by USAC cars and NASCAR's Grand National Series). The event ran until 1966, and numerous notable drivers competed in these events, including Johnny Beauchamp, Jim Hurtubise, Dick Hutcherson, Ramo Stott, Parnelli Jones, Johnny Rutherford, and Tom Bigelow.
It also distributed leaflets for various causes such as "anti-apartheid" and "anti-vivisection", music and politics being interlinked at the time. It had a roster of several bands on its own label, such as the insane picnic (sic), ,tanding Ovation and Spasmodic Caress, as well as cassettes and some vinyl it distributed for other D.I.Y cassette labels including Cause for Concern, Subway, Adventures in Reality, Music for Midgets, Third Mind and Colortapes. Many notable bands were distributed by Falling A, including The Cleaners from Venus featuring Martin Newell, the Modern Art, Attrition, The Pastels, The Membranes and Wavis O'Shave (also known as Foffo Spearjig). Some exclusive material was recorded for Falling A by The Cleaners from Venus and Foffo Spearjig among others.
Cayuga in 2008, one of his six wins that year en route to the title Allgaier was born in Spaulding, Illinois and raised in Riverton, Illinois, and began his racing career at the age of five in quarter midgets, winning over one hundred races and five championships. He began stock car racing at thirteen in the UMP Late Model Series, where he competed for three seasons. At the age of sixteen, he made his debut in the ARCA Re/Max Series at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack, driving the No. 99 Hoosier Tire Midwest/Law Automotive Chevrolet for Ken Schrader; he qualified twenty-ninth and finished seventeenth. He ran two additional races for Kerry Scherer and Bob Schacht, with a best finish of eleventh.
Addison Foster Brennan (July 18, 1887 – January 7, 1962) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. Brennan began his professional career in 1908 with the Springfield Midgets. He played in 1909 with the Wichita Jobbers, and had a win-loss record of 18-16 with them that season. After the season, the Cincinnati Reds purchased his contract without having seen him pitch. Clifton Ambrose Marr (November 23, 1891 - August 1, 1981, in Grove, Oklahoma, United States) was a baseball figure who spent many years playing, managing and scouting at the minor and major league levels. Marr played in the minor leagues from 1912 to 1916, from 1918 to 1928, from 1931 to 1932 and in 1937, a total of 19 seasons. Despite playing so long, he never reached the major leagues. His statistical record is incomplete, however it is known that he collected at least 1,939 hits, of which at least 361 were doubles, 85 were triples and 88 were home runs. He hit at least ten home runs four years in a row (1921-1924), with a career-high of 19 in 1924. Perhaps his best season was 1922, when he hit .347 with 44 doubles, 14 triples and 17 home runs for the Norfolk Elk Horns and Sioux City Packers.BR Minors Marr managed in at least part of 15 seasons.
