The Mehagian family (Mary Mehagian and Florence Mehagian-Guertmenian) of Phoenix, Arizona, relatives of Dr. Haigazian, donated capital through the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA)Projects, Armenian Missionary Association of America and worked hand in hand with Stephen Philibosian to get Haigazian College started. Dr. John Markarian, the first president of the University, served until June 1966. From 1966 to 1968, Dr. Joseph Spradley, chair of the division of sciences, served as acting president while on a 3-year leave of absence from Wheaton College in Illinois. During the years 1968 to 1971, Dr. Gilbert Bilezikian, also from Wheaton College, held the presidency; then Dr. Markarian returned to the post until his retirement in June 1982. Subsequently, the presidency was held by Dr. Verne H. Fletcher until February 1985.

On September 4, 2007, the WEBT started a new project: the GLAST-AGILE Support Program (GASP). Its aim is to provide observing support at longer wavelengths to the observations by the gamma-ray satellites GLAST (Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, later renamed Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope in honor of the famous Italian physicist Enrico Fermi), and AGILE (Astro-rivelatore Gamma a Immagini LEggero). The GASP strategy is a long-term monitoring of selected targets, with periodic data gathering and analysis. The list of the GASP monitored blazars includes 28 bright objects: 3C 66A, AO 0235+16, PKS 0420−01, PKS 0528+134, S5 0716+71, PKS 0735+17, OJ 248, OJ 49, 4C 71.07, OJ 287, S4 0954+65, Markarian 421, 4C 29.45, ON 231, 3C 273, 3C 279, PKS 1510−08, DA 406, 4C 38.41, 3C 345, Markarian 501, 4C 51.37, 3C 371, PKS 2155−304, BL Lacertae, CTA 102, 3C 454.3 and 1ES 2344+514.

Markarian 501 (or Mrk 501) is a galaxy with a spectrum extending to the highest energy gamma rays. It is a blazar or BL Lac object, which is an active galactic nucleus with a jet that is shooting towards the Earth. In the very- high-energy gamma ray region of the spectrum, at energies above 1011 eV (0.1 TeV), it is the brightest object in the sky. The object has a redshift of z = 0.034.

He then continued his education by enrolling in Fresno State College (later known as California State University, Fresno). Although Markarian was in the graduating class of 1953, he was able to complete his studies mid-term in 1952 and graduate early. Commissioned in the Air Force, he left Fresno for extended active duty; to continue his formal education later at George Washington University and receive his master's degree in Public Administration in 1964.

The Oh- My-God particles energy was estimated as , or . This is 20 million times more energetic than the highest energy measured in electromagnetic radiation emitted by an extragalactic object.The blazar Markarian 501, It had (100 quintillion) times the photon energy of visible light, equivalent to a baseball travelling at about . Assuming it was a proton, this particle traveled at % of the speed of light, its Lorentz factor was and its rapidity was .

The signal indicated that the universe is more transparent than previously thought based on data from optical and infrared telescopes. MAGIC did not observe cosmic rays resulting from dark matter decays in the dwarf galaxy Draco. This strengthens the known constraints on dark matter models. A much more controversial observation is an energy dependence in the speed of light of cosmic rays coming from a short burst of the blazar Markarian 501 on July 9, 2005.

There is no dwarf galaxy seen inside the streamers. It is featured in Arp's Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies as number 182, in the category "galaxies with narrow filaments". NGC 7674 has a powerful active nucleus of the kind known as a type 2 Seyfert that is perhaps fed by gas drawn into the center through the interactions with the companions. In 1975, observations of excess ultraviolet emission led to designation as Markarian 533 in Markarian's catalog.

APM is an ultra- luminous infrared galaxy (ULIRG). Its high redshift shifts the far-infrared spectrum into millimeter wavelengths where it can be observed from observatories on the ground. In 2008 and 2009 the intensities of its water vapor spectral lines were measured using the millimeter wave spectrometer Z-Spec at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. Comparing the spectrum to that of Markarian 231, another ULIRG, showed that it had 50 times the water vapor of that galaxy.

Zabel Yesayan, also born in Constantinople, bridged the gap with Eastern Armenian literature by settling in Soviet Armenia in 1933. The literary renaissance and its accompanying voice of protest also had its representatives in the East with poet Shushanik Kurghinian(1876–1927) of Aleksandrapol (today, Gyumri). Sylvia Kaputikyan and Maro Markarian are probably the best-known women poets from the Republic of Armenia of the 20th century, and continued the tradition of political speech through poetry.

Of Armenian descent, Markarian's family was one of the early Armenian settlers of the San Joaquin Valley. his paternal great-grandfather, Melkon Markarian was the first generation of the family to have previously moved to the United States from Armenia becoming U.S. citizen in 1865. He later went back to Armenia, married, raised a family and then resettled in America moving to Fresno in 1881. He was related to famous sculptor Varaz Samuelian through his maternal grandmother.

The Solar Tower Atmospheric Cherenkov Effect Experiment (STACEE), is a gamma ray detector located near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Observations with STACEE began in October 2001 and concluded in June 2007. Gamma rays were observed from objects such as the Crab Nebula, a supernova remnant, and Markarian 421, a blazar. STACEE uses the heliostats and space on the receiver tower of the National Solar Thermal Test Facility (NSTTF) operated by the Sandia National Laboratories on the grounds of the Kirtland Air Force Base.

Ronald states that his great-grandparents were among the pioneers of the fig industry in California; his father Theodore and mother Rose, were both born in Fresno. While the father, born in 1899, died in 1963. his mother who was born on May 21, 1909, died on March 15, 2010 at the age of 100. Ron Markarian also was born in Fresno, on June 27, 1931, attended local schools in North Fresno and graduated from Clovis High School in 1949.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation History Museum () is a museum in Yerevan, Armenia, that displays the history of the First Republic of Armenia and the ARF with its notable members. The museum initially opened in 1946 in Paris, France and throughout the years, accumulated as many as 3,000 artifacts. The Museum was inaugurated in Yerevan during an official ceremony on July 13, 2007 at the Kristapor Mikaelian Center. Dashnak leaders such as Hrant Markarian and supporters were present at the opening.

Markarian 335 is a Seyfert galaxy containing a supermassive black hole, located 324 million light-years away in the constellation of Pegasus. The central black hole in this active galaxy nucleus is notable for its corona's spinning rate (at about 20 percent the speed of light) and its change in brightness from 2007 to 2014. The geometry of the corona has been deduced from relativistic blurring of the reflection of the accretion disc. An x-ray flare in 2013 is interpreted as an aborted jet.

Modern Cherenkov telescope experiments like H.E.S.S., VERITAS, MAGIC, and CANGAROO III can detect the Crab Nebula in a few minutes. The most energetic photons (up to 16 TeV) observed from an extragalactic object originate from the blazar, Markarian 501 (Mrk 501). These measurements were done by the High-Energy- Gamma-Ray Astronomy (HEGRA) air Cherenkov telescopes. Gamma-ray astronomy observations are still limited by non-gamma-ray backgrounds at lower energies, and, at higher energy, by the number of photons that can be detected.

Traditional migrating antistatic agents include long-chain alkyl phenols, ethoxylated amines, and glycerol esters, such as glycerol monostearate. Migrating antistatic agents offer cost- effective protection for short-term applications, but other applications need longer-term protection or the lower resistivity required to prevent sparks and protect electronics from electrostatic dissipation. The son of an Armenian entrepreneur and a Greek mother, he was born as Bedros Markarian in Istanbul. He attended the St. George's Austrian High School in Istanbul and studied economics after his Abitur for some years in Vienna and in Stuttgart. The family moved to Athens in 1954, but Markaris did not settle permanently there until 1964. That year over 15,000 Greeks (Greek passport holders) were expelled from Istanbul and their properties were confiscated, a major blow for the city's millenarian Greek community.

To be able to select secondary muons in air showers there were the Muon 'Towers' with 16 m² area each. Seventeen of these detectors were installed on La Palma. There were two more types of detectors at the HEGRA site: the CRT (Cosmic Ray Tracking) and the CLUE (Cherenkov Light Ultraviolet Experiment). Schematic representation of cosmic ray shower detection A remarkable achievement of the instrument was the detection of the most energetic photons observed from an extragalactic object, at 16 TeV, originating from Markarian 501 (Mrk 501).

His son Iraj Danaeifard became the star of Taj and National team in the 70s and his daughter is a football coach. Fans call him Father of Esteghlal. Iraj scored the First ever Iranian goal during a World Cup Finals in 1978, with the equaliser against Scotland. Some of the best players of those years as follows: Boyuk Jeddikar, Aref Gholizadeh, Parviz Koozehkanani, Mahmoud Bayati, Mohammad Ranjbar, Mohammad Amir Khatami, Nader Afshar Alavinejad, George Markarian, Kambozia Jamali, Karam Nayyerloo, Hassan Habibi, Heshmat Mohajerani, Fariborz Esmaeili, Parviz Aboutaleb, Mohammad Reza Adelkhani and Ali Jabbari.

In Copa Chile 2008–09, he played in the starting lineup against the Santiago Wanderers in a 1–0 away loss in Estadio Regional Chiledeportes. After the resignation of Arturo Salah and the arrival of Sergio Markarian, Seymour had more continuity in the starting lineup, and a good season for both him and the team resulted in a victory in Torneo Apertura 2009. Then with the arrival of Jose Basualdo, Seymour was frequently in the starting lineup. In Clásico Universitario he scored a goal against Universidad Católica in a 3–2 home loss.

During that assignment, Markarian was selected to attend Command & General Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, and upon graduation was assigned to the Strategic Air Command headquarters with the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff (JSTPS) at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. They were engaged in the preparation of the United States Strategic Nuclear War Plan. Their job was to plan the basing, routing and targeting for all U.S. bombers, land and sea-based missiles. Markarians additional duties involved establishing the intelligence election requirements for the Pacific Command.

Markarián lived in Argentina during most of his childhood and adolescent years, from 7 to 18 years of age. He played football as a left center back defender until he was 17 years of age. Never making it to professional football, he entered into university studies and started working in a large fuel distribution company in Uruguay, eventually reaching the post of general manager. It was the Uruguay loss against Holland in the 1974 FIFA World Cup which spurred Markarian to realise that coaching football was his vocation.

His first coaching experience was at Unión Huaral, leading the team in the 1995 regular season. The following year he joined Sporting Cristal where he managed a few games as interim coach. He was assistant to Sergio Markarian in the direction of Cristal for two years, winning the Campeonato Descentralizado in 1996 and finishing as runner-up in the 1997 Copa Libertadores. The following years he led a series of provincial teams in Peru, said its passage by Coronel Bolognesi between 2002 and 2004 which were their best seasons in which they qualified for their first international cup competition.

Forkner eventually planted some 600,000 fig trees, of which 9 in 10 were edible figs and the remainder ornamental figs. The figs came out of an adjacent nursery stocked in part with cuttings obtained from Markarian, and landowners were permitted to choose among different varieties. In 2011, Yotun's impressive performances for Sporting Cristal convinced the new Peru national team coach Sergio Markarian to call him up for the 2011 edition of Kirin Cup. Against Japan, he made his national team debut substituting Jesus Rabanal in the 62nd minute. Though on 9 September 2013 against Uruguay for the fight for 5th place in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualification group, Yotun's performance was heavily criticized by Peruvians because of his expulsion during the game, which many argued had cost Peru's qualification into the tournament. In 2015, Yotun was part of the team that finished 3rd in Copa América.

He was part of the Peru U-20 team in the 2009 South American Youth Championship, being eliminated quickly by losing four games. On 2 February 2009, he was called to the senior team by the then current coach Jose 'Chemo' del Solar to play a friendly against El Salvador losing 1–0. In June 2011, the new Peruvian national team coach Sergio Markarian decided to give Corzo a chance to play in a friendly against Senegal. The friendly took place on 28 June 2011 in Lima, and it was the last friendly before the start of the Copa América.

The debt arrangements have been personally negotiated by (then) Defense Minister (and later President) Serge Sarkisian, initially Kocharyan's closest political associate. Other top government officials, including former Prime Minister Andranik Markarian, had little say on the issue. Furthermore, all of the controversial agreements have been announced after Sarkisian's frequent trips to Moscow, without prior public discussion. Finally, while Armenia is not the only ex-Soviet state that has incurred multi-million-dollar debts to Russia over the past decades, it is the only state to have so far given up such a large share of its economic infrastructure to Russia.

Twelve more papers with objects from the First Byurakan Survey brought the list up to 1500 galaxies. A list titled "First Byurakan Survey" circulated in 1986, including the original 1500 galaxies and 32 extras numbered from 9001 to 9032. In 1989 an extended list numbering up to 1515 was published. In 2005, the "Second Byurakan Survey" (SBS, SBSSS, BSS, MrkII, Markarian II) was carried out, extending the MrkI survey to fainter objects, making a catalogue of 3563 objects of 1863 galaxies (SBSG) and 1700 stars (SBSS); 761 of the galaxies are AGN (155 Seyferts, 596 quasars, 10 blazars).

He started his career with Cruz Azul Hidalgo and in 2006 he joined the first team Cruz Azul. On January 27, 2007 he made his official debut in the maximum circuit, the Primera División (First Division), now Liga MX, against Atlante F.C. in a 1-0 loss. He scored his first goal on October 14, 2007, at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc against Puebla FC. In the Clausura 2008, under command of Sergio Markarian, Lugo had more opportunities to play. Cruz Azul was the runner-up of the Clausura 2008 tournament and Lugo scored four goals in that season.

The IACT was pioneered by the Whipple collaboration and led to the discovery of TeV emission from the Crab Nebula in 1989. The Whipple 10m telescope also discovered the first extra-galactic source of TeV emission with the detection of very-high-energy gamma-ray emission from the active galaxy Markarian 421. The HEGRA telescope array was the first system to use multiple telescopes, a technique known as stereoscopy. The MAGIC system at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory in La Palma began with one 17 m telescope in 2004, to which a second 17 m telescope was added in 2009.

However, the Nestbuilders and their symbiotic species, the Slugs, reveal that while she was travelling at high relativistic velocities, the Greenfly terraformers were unleashed around the star Ross 128 (the same star that Diadem orbits in "Glacial"), and have since malfunctioned, destroying the planets there and turning them into trillions of orbiting bio-domes filled with vegetation. The inhabitants of the star system failed to stop them and were apparently killed in the process. Irravel says that she cannot provide any information that would help the Nestbuilders/Slugs, and leaves on the trail of Markarian again.

During the feast later that evening, she tries to tell them that she truly is the same person depicted in the Islanders' play, but they disbelieve her, as many Irravels make such insistences with no particular claim to legitimacy. She leaves the next morning, still in pursuit of Markarian. Eventually, she catches up with the Hideyoshi in AD 9730, by which point the Greenflies have wiped out most of human civilisation. The two ships view this under the effects of heavy time dilation from high above the Galactic Plane (Galactic North), and the two captains discuss the situation.

Controversy existed over whether Seyfert redshifts were of cosmological origin. Confirming estimates of the distance to Seyfert galaxies and their age were limited since their nuclei vary in brightness over a time scale of a few years; therefore arguments involving distance to such galaxies and the constant speed of light cannot always be used to determine their age. In the same time period, research had been undertaken to survey, identify and catalogue galaxies, including Seyferts. Beginning in 1967, Benjamin Markarian published lists containing a few hundred galaxies distinguished by their very strong ultraviolet emission, with measurements on the position of some of them being improved in 1973 by other researchers.

It began in May, 2002, with the meeting of Personal Representatives of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister Tatoul Markarian and Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov at Stirin, outside Prague, under the Chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group. A second session talks was held in late July. The Prague Talks, as announced by the US State Department in September, 2002, would serve as a vehicle for continued communications between the parties as both Armenia and Azerbaijan hold presidential elections in 2003. The process was later continued by Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Vartan Oskanian and Elmar Mammadyarov who had their first meeting in Prague in April 2004.

The Markarian 231 galaxy is now undergoing an energetic starburst. A nuclear ring of active star formation has been found in the center with a rate of formation greater than 100 solar masses per year. It is one of the most ultraluminous infrared galaxies with power derived from an accreting black hole in the center, and the closest known quasar. A 2015 study suggested that the central black hole, estimated to be 150 million times the mass of our Sun, may have a black hole companion weighing in at 4 million solar masses, and that the duo completed an orbit around each other every 1.2 years.

In the summer of 2000, President Giorgos Vardinogiannis resigned from his duties with complaints for the refereeing situation in Greece and passed his shares to his nephew Giannis Vardinogiannis, who changed the style of the club's management. Angelos Anastasiadis was initially appointed coach of the team and later the ex-player Giannis Kyrastas. With the arrival of coach Sergio Markarian, Panathinaikos reached the quarter-finals of the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League, being eliminated by Barcelona. Panathinaikos had passed the first group stage as the top club against Arsenal, Mallorca and Schalke 04, and the second group stage as second against Real Madrid, Porto and Sparta Prague.

She awakens aboard the mostly abandoned Hirondelle some time later, having no memory of the interrogation. She discovers that almost all of the colonists have been taken, while the handful that were left behind have been cut to pieces in order to acquire their tissues and implants; the valuable Greenfly machines they were transporting have also been stolen by Seven. She finds that the pirates' interrogator, Mirsky, has been abandoned with her, while Markarian has been taken. Irravel does not trust her, but Mirsky demonstrates her independence by violently removing the implanted mind-control device that Run Seven had been using to recruit and maintain his crew.

It had taken tens of thousands of years for the light from the relativistic lighthuggers' C Drives to reach and be detected by the galactic plane, and thousands more for their message to arrive at the two ships. The message simply consists of Remontoire begging them for help. Irravel meets the Conjoiners in AD 40,000 on Hope, a hollowed out asteroid the Conjoiners have ejected from the Galaxy. They explore the Hideyoshi and find it abandoned, learning that Markarian has been physically absorbed by the medicines sustaining him in his old age, and exists now only as a collection of software servers which simulate his behaviour.

They collect the remaining colonists (whom Markarian has stored as alpha-level neural scans plus complete genetic archives) and prepare to leave the galaxy to re-establish a new civilisation elsewhere, fleeing just ahead of an immense nebular swarm of Greenfly machines which had homed in on Hope as it fled the galactic plane. The novel Absolution Gap contains a reference to entities in a parallel universe (or at least claiming to be from one) facing attack from an agent very similar to the Greenfly. In their world, the Greenfly gradually consume the entire universe, rendering it uninhabitable. There are references that may imply the alternate universe entities are actually the extreme far future of humanity.

In 2009 the two MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov) telescopes detected that among gamma-ray photons arriving from the blazar Markarian 501, some photons at different energy levels arrived at different times, suggesting that some of the photons had moved more slowly and thus contradicting the theory of general relativity's notion of the speed of light being constant, a discrepancy which could be explained by the irregularity of quantum foam. More recent experiments were, however, unable to confirm the supposed variation on the speed of light due to graininess of space. Other experiments involving the polarization of light from distant gamma ray bursts have also produced contradictory results.Integral challenges physics beyond Einstein / Space Science / Our Activities / ESA More Earth-based experiments are ongoing or proposed.

Markarian reveals that they both were involved in a betrayal during that fateful encounter: he gave Run Seven the codes to the colonists' reefersleep caskets when Seven forced him to watch her undergo torture, while she, under the influence of torture, provided Seven and his crew with the Greenflies and their activation codes. They wonder between them if anybody could have survived within the swarm of machine-tended bio-domes. Eventually they detect a message emanating from the swarm, parsed in an ancient human format, tight-beamed directly at them. The message is from Remontoire, who has managed to survive with a small group of Conjoiners orbiting a pulsar (the Greenflies do not attack pulsars, which lack the light to sustain vegetation and usually the mass to build domes).

On 15 July 2010 Cruzado joined Peruvian club Juan Aurich in the middle of the 2010 Torneo Descentralizado season. His choice to return to Peru was mainly due to his desire to be called up by new coach Sergio Markarian to the Peru national football team. Cruzado made his official debut for Juan Aurich on 21 August 2010 in a league match away to José Gálvez FBC. The manager Juan Reynoso put Rinaldo in the 79th minute to secure the 1–0 victory. The following match he made his home debut at the Estadio Elías Aguirre against Colegio Nacional Iquitos, which he played the entire match as it finished in a 1–1 draw. Cruzado quickly won a starting role in the center of midfield and managed to play in all but one of the remaining matches of the 2010 Descentralizado season.

This story starts in the year 2303, when Captain Irravel Veda of the lighthugger Hirondelle, her second-in-command Markarian, and some fraction of their Ultranaut crew are ambushed by pirates while engaged in an unexpected repair stopover in a cloud of rocks and cometary matter in the charted but uninhabited star system Luyten 726-8. She briefly considers activating the "Greenfly" terraforming Von Neumann machines being transported onboard, which she believes would easily be able to swarm and dismantle the pirate vessel and probably aid in repair as well. She rejects this option, however, and their ship is captured by the infamous terroristic pirate Run Seven. She is tortured to reveal the codes to the security protecting her ship's cargo – twenty thousand colonists' cryopreserved bodies – but refuses due to intense psychological conditioning that makes her view the cargo as her children and do anything to protect them.
