"Udea and her Seven Brothers" is a Northern African fairy tale collected by Hans von Stumme in Märchen und Gedichte aus der Stadt Tripolis. Scottish novelist Andrew Lang included it in The Grey Fairy Book. It is Aarne-Thompson type 451.

The Strohner Märchen The Strohner Maarchen (also Strohner MärchenOn maps also called Dürres Maar, but this is not the Dürres Maar near Holzmaar) is a dry maar near the village of Strohn in the Volcanic Eifel region of Germany. Its bowl forms an elongated oval and has a diameter of about 210 x 140 metres. Its name ("maarchen" means "little maar") stems from the fact that it is small for a maar. Together with the Pulvermaar to the north and the adjacent hill of Römerberg the Strohner Maarchen lies within the nature reserve of Pulvermaar mit Römerberg und Strohner Märchen.

Märchen Mädchen is written by Tomohiro Matsu and StoryWorks with illustrations by Kantoku. Shueisha published the first volume on February 24, 2017 under their Dash X Bunko imprint; four volumes have been released as of April 2018. It has been announced that the fourth volume is the series' climax.
A memorial service was held on May 8, where special attention was made to acknowledge not only Matsu, but his work as well, including through anime artwork. Matsu had completed the draft for his last work titled Märchen Mädchen and was published on 2016 with story finalized by StoryWorks.

Strange News from Another Star is a collection of eight short stories written by the German author Hermann Hesse between 1913 and 1918. It was first published as Märchen in German in 1919 and was translated to English by Denver Lindley in 1972. The first English publication was in 1972.

Preußisches Märchen (Prussian Legend) is a 1952 opera buffa with simultaneous ballet by Boris Blacher to a libretto by Heinz von Cramer based on the real life con-man Captain of Köpenick and Zuckmayer's play of the same title. The opera was the composer's first comic opera, premiered in West Berlin 23 September 1952.

The Golden Pot: A Modern Fairytale (Der goldne Topf. Ein Märchen aus der neuen Zeit) is a novella by E. T. A. Hoffmann, first published in 1814. Hoffmann regarded it as his best story (Kaiser 1988, 37), and there is wide agreement among literary scholars that it is a masterpiece of romantic literature (Feldges & Stadler 1986, 64).
The tale was published by the Brothers Grimm in the first edition of Kinder- und Hausmärchen in 1812. A somewhat different version appeared a few months earlier Johann Gustav Büsching's Volks-Sagen, Märchen und Legenden (1812). Their source was the version published by the painter Philipp Otto Runge (1777–1810) in the journal Zeitung für Einsiedler in 1808.

"The Hazel-nut Child" is a Bukowinaer fairy tale collected by the Polish- German scholar Heinrich von Wlislocki (1856-1907) in Märchen Und Sagen Der Bukowinaer Und Siebenbûrger Armenier (1891, Hamburg: Verlagsanstalt und Druckerei Actien-Gesellschaft). Andrew Lang included it in The Yellow Fairy Book (1894) and Ruth Manning-Sanders included it in A Book of Dwarfs (1964).
It has been claimed that Das Märchen was born out of Goethe's reading of The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz and that it is full of esoteric symbolism. Elke Neidhardt was born in Stuttgart. She graduated from the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, and later directed operas in Zurich, Amsterdam, Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg and Vienna. Elke also made two films in Germany Der Schatten: Ein Märchen für Erwachsene (1963) and the Jerry Cotton thriller Mordnacht in Manhattan (1965). She married an Australian and moved to Melbourne.

Gustav Manker (March 29, 1913 - July 7, 1988 in Vienna) was an Austrian theatre and TV film director and stage designer. From 1968 to 1979 he was the director of the Volkstheater in Vienna. The essay "On Fairy-Stories" is an attempt to explain and defend the genre of fairy tales or Märchen.
The framework of the story is borrowed from a popular Märchen. The young knight lives in exile away from home and takes service at the court of a just king. He is paid in wise saws instead of current coin. He also receives a loaf, which contains coins but is accompanied by instructions not to cut it until the knight has returned home.

When the girl returns, the mother sends her lazy daughter down the well to work for Mother Hulda to be showered in gold as well. But the lazy daughter refuses to help in the chores her stepsister did and justly is punished by being forever covered with pitch. While Märchen considers it the cutest revenge he orchestrated, Elise amusingly calls it a fate worse than death.

The version of "Schippeitaro" in Andrew Lang's The Violet Fairy Book (1901) was taken from Japanische Märchen und Sagen collected by Professor (Leipzig, 1885). The tale was published by the Brothers Grimm in the first edition of Kinder- und Hausmärchen in 1812 as tale no. 19. Their source was the German painter Philipp Otto Runge (1777–1810), from whom the Grimms obtained a manuscript of the tale in 1809. Johann Gustav Büsching published another version of Runge's manuscript a few months earlier in 1812 in Volkssagen, Märchen und Legenden, with some discrepancies with Grimm's version.

Many scholars have theorized about the possible origins of the tale. In 1994, a German historian named Eckhard Sander published Schneewittchen: Märchen oder Wahrheit? (Snow White: Fairy Tale or Truth?), claiming he had uncovered an account that may have inspired the story that first appeared in Grimm’s Fairy Tales. According to Sander, the character of Snow White was based on the life of Margaretha von Waldeck, a German countess born to Philip IV in 1533.

Then Yanagita popularized the use of mukashi-banashi "tales of long ago", as mentioned before. Although some Japanese ghost stories or kaidan such as the story of the Yuki-onna ("snow woman") might be considered examples of folktales, but even though some overlaps may exist, they are usually treated as another genre.

Linde made sketches based on Goethe's Märchen von der Grünen Schlange und der Schönen Lilie (tale of "The Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily"). After seeing the sketches, Steiner suggested that they be done in conjunction with scenes from Steiner's modern mystery play, The Portal of Initiation. Linde would work on the murals and other projects there for many years to follow. He died six months after the First Goetheanum was destroyed by an arson fire.
The song "Aschenbrödel" is based on the theme music from the popular Christmas film Drei Haselnüsse für Achenbrödel, and Kabelitz wrote that it was cynical to release it as a Christmas single. Kabelitz wrote that the promises of early Faun albums like Zaubersprüche and Licht here have been simplified into cheesy and inauthentic "pagan schlager". One of his first publications was a translation of Artemidoros' of Daldis Interpretation of Dreams was cited in Sigmund Freud's book The Interpretation of Dreams. He began his career as a folklorist and ethnologist. In 1884–85, Krauss received funding from the Crown Prince Rudolf to gather folklore and ballads of the Guslar singers in Bosnia, Croatia and Herzegovina. The Child who came from an Egg or The Egg-Born Princess () is an Estonian fairy tale, collected by Dr. Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald in Eestirahwa Ennemuistesed jutud. William Forsell Kirby included a synopsis of it in The Hero of Esthonia as "The Egg-Born Princess." Andrew Lang included it as "The Child who came from an Egg" in The Violet Fairy Book; he listed his source as Ehstnische Märchen, which was the German translation of Kreutzwald's work, by F. Löwe.
But the Queen learned of the hunter's ruse, the Queen succeeds in killing Snow White with poisoned apple. Coming across the glass coffin by chance, noting she is not dead, Märchen bids the sleeping Snow White to wait for her fated love and the chance to take revenge. Time passes, and Prince Charming travels through the land before seeing Snow White in her glass coffin. Falling in love at first sight, the prince takes the coffin with the dwarves handing the body over.
Having listen to the princess's story, Märchen assures her that her prince will come. Years later, having heard the tale of the Wild Rose Princess, a prince comes across the tower covered in roses and reaches the chamber where the Princess lies asleep on the bed. Upon being revived by the prince's kiss, the princess orders for Alterose's banishment from the kingdom. But as her final revenge, Alterose leaves the princess with a curse to abandon her children in the forest.
The "Nibelungenhalle" at the Drachenfels was opened in 1913 on the occasion of Richard Wagner's centenary. It contains twelve paintings by Hendrich with scenes from Der Ring des Nibelungen. Eckhard Sander, in his book Schneewittchen: Märchen oder Wahrheit? (Snow White: Is It a Fairy Tale?), alleged that Margaretha's life was inspiration for the tale of Snow White. Since, however, her father's second wife died in 1546 and he only remarried again in October 1554, her stepmother was not a suspect in the alleged poisoning case. Margaretha's father owned several copper mines; a majority of workers were children, and the legendary reference to the seven dwarfs is suggested to be related to child labor in the mine.
"Sagan af Hríngi kóngssyni" ("the story of Hríngur, the king's son") is one of the Icelandic folktales that appeared in Jón Árnason's anthology, Íslenzkar Þjóðsögur og Æfintýri Vol. 2 (1862–64). It was later translated as "Ring, der Königssohn" by in Isländische Märchen (1884),, and subsequently by Adeline Rittershaus as "Snati-Snati" (1902), as provided by the bibiographical endnote in Hans Naumann's edition. The German translation by Hans and Ida Naumann in turn was entitled "Der Königssohn Ring und der Hund Snati-Snati" (1922).

Märchen Awakens Romance, officially abbreviated as , is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Anzai, serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday from January 2003 to July 2006. MÄR follows 14-year-old junior high student Ginta Toramizu who is transported into a fantasy-based world known as MÄR-Heaven. As Ginta ventures in the world of MÄR-Heaven, he encounters allies and antagonists. An anime television series adaptation titled MÄR Heaven was broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 2005 to March 2007.
Final Blaster was released for the PC- Engine by Namco in Japan on September 28, 1990. Development was originally being handled by Namco subsidiary N.H. System, who previously developed the arcade game Märchen Maze, however development was later transferred to Japanese studio Nova after N.H. System was dissolved earlier in 1990. Aisystem Tokyo, a "group company" of Aisystem, assisted with programming. It is the third and final entry in Namco's Bosconian series, taking place after the events of the 1989 arcade game Blast Off.
From 2000 he was professor extraordinarius for German and literature studies in Essen. Since 2010, Uther has been the head of the Enzyklopädie des Märchens until the end of the project at the end of 2015. Rudi Schuricke (born Erhard Rudolf Hans Schuricke; 16 March 1913, Brandenburg an der Havel – 28 December 1973) was a popular German singer and film star. Especially well known in the 1930s through the early 1950s, his 1949 recording of "Capri-Fischer" was a "smash hit" in Germany. Even as late as the mid-1950s, he was still a successful musical artist. In 1954 alone, his song "Moulin Rouge" was the 74th most purchased single on the German year-end chart and another of his songs "Das Märchen unserer Liebe" appeared on the German Top50 chart.
Some folklorists prefer to use the German term Märchen or "wonder tale" to refer to the genre rather than fairy tale, a practice given weight by the definition of Thompson in his 1977 [1946] edition of The Folktale: "a tale of some length involving a succession of motifs or episodes. It moves in an unreal world without definite locality or definite creatures and is filled with the marvellous. In 1994, the German historian Eckhard Sander published Schneewittchen: Märchen oder Wahrheit? (Snow White: Fairy Tale or True Story?), claiming he had uncovered an account that may have inspired the story that first appeared in Grimm’s Fairy Tales. According to Sander, the character of Snow White was based on the life of Margaretha von Waldeck, daughter of Philip IV, Count of Waldeck- Wildungen (1493–1574) and his first wife, Margaret Cirksena (1500–1537), daughter of Edzard I, Count of East Frisia. According to Bad Wildungen city documents, she was famous for her beauty.

In 1998, they sold about 300,000 copies of the album Viva los tioz within the first 48 hours after release. In 2000 they released Ein böses Märchen, their first album under their new record label (rule23 Recordings) and produced their first music video for the single "Dunkler Ort", which was broadcast on MTV. Later, an MTV Masters special about the Onkelz was made (which the band disliked).
Alexander described his own writings as based on myth, but written with his personal life experience or "micromythology". C.W. Sullivan, a professor of Northern European mythology at East Carolina University, stated that Alexander took the structure of a fairy tale, or märchen, and added Welsh details. Brian Attebery wrote that The Book of Three was "no more than a clever imitation of Tolkien," but noted that Taran, written by an American, finds his identity in the future, not the past. Attebury described Alexander's mythopoeism as a "modest" success, bringing his own creativity to Welsh mythology.

Henning Wulf, or von Wulfen, of Wewelsfleth in Holstein sided with Count Gerhard in 1472 and was banished by King Christian I of Denmark. In a folk tale, the king had him shoot an apple off his son's head, and a window in the Wewelsfleth church depicted the boy with an apple on his head, pierced through by the arrow, while Henning's bow was undrawn but there was another arrow between his teeth. Schulte appeared as a guest at the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro La Fenice, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others. He performed at the Bayreuth Festival, beginning in 1988 as the Heerrufer (The King's Herald) in Lohengrin, from 1992 as Wolfram von Eschenbach in Tannhäuser, and in 1998 he stepped in as Gunther in Götterdämmerung, singing but not acting. Throughout his career, he took part in contemporary opera, including premieres. In 1969, he sang in the premiere of Giselher Klebe's Das Märchen von der schönen Lilie at the Schwetzingen Festival in the Schlosstheater Schwetzingen.

In: Die Welt, 30 May 2010 A clinical trial of isolated omega-3 fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) or docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in patients who have had a myocardial infarction previously showed no significant difference in cardiovascular effects compared to a placebo. The exact pathological effects of furan fatty acids have not yet been clarified in detail and are the subject of current research. In addition to the antioxidant effect, anti-tumor (against malignant tumors) and antithrombotic effects (anti-thrombosis) are also suspected.
Two books of travel, Aus Venetien (Düsseldorf, 1864) and Aus Paris (Stuttgart, 1865), were followed by some volumes of critical studies, written in a light, satirical vein, which at once made him famous. Frau Gauden, also known as Frau Gode, Frau Gaur, Fru Goden, Frau Wohl, and Mutter Gauerken, is a being from the folklore of Mecklenburg. She is said to be cursed because she expressed to prefer eternally hunt rather than go to Heaven, and her daughters, who expressed the same desire, were transformed into small dogs who either pull her wagon or sled, or serve as hunting dogs. She visits the homes of humans during the Twelve Nights of Christmas and punishes the lazy while sometimes rewarding the virtuous or those who help her.Karl Bartsch: Sagen, Märchen und Gebräuche aus Meklenburg.
The German linguist and professor at the University of Graz, Gustav Meyer, published in 1884 fourteen Albanian tales in Albanische Märchen (Albanian Tales), and a selection of Tosk tales in the 1888 Albanian grammar (1888). His folklore material was republished in his Albanesische Studien (Albanian Studies). Danish Indo-Europeanist and professor at the University of Copenhagen, Holger Pedersen, visited Albania in 1893 to learn the language and to gather linguistic material. He recorded thirty-five Albanian folk tales from Albania and Corfu and published them in the 1895 Albanesische Texte mit Glossar (Albanian Texts with Glossary).
A note to the press by the publisher Universal Editio (UE), probably from the end of 1927 and entitled ' (A cycle of one-acters) announces that Ernst Krenek composed three one-act operas after the success of Jonny spielt auf, to be premiered together at the Festspiele Wiesbaden of 1928. Das geheime Königreich is listed as the second of the three, and described as a satirical fairy-tale (Satirisches Märchen). The premiere of the three operas was part of the Mai-Festwoche at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden on 6 May 1928. It was the first festival after 1914.

In this last version, the role of both the mirror and the dwarfs is played by the Moon, which tells the elder sisters that the youngest, called Ziricochel, is the prettiest, and later hides her in his palace.
But after the marriage, Marigo's stepmother asks the king to get rid of the princess, but instead of killing her the king just abandons her daughter in the woods. Marigo finds a castle inhabited by forty dragons instead of giants, that take her in as their surrogate sister. An anime adaptation by Shaft was announced in May 2016, which was later confirmed to be an original video animation series adaptation of the novel series' first volume in August 2016. The anime series spans 8 episodes across 8 home video release volumes, which were released between October 26, 2016 and September 27, 2017. The series is directed by Yuki Yase and Akiyuki Shinbo, and written by Yukito Kizawa and Munemasa Nakamoto, featuring character designs by Akio Watanabe and music by Yuki Kajiura. The opening theme song is "Cobalt World" by Sangatsu no Phantasia, and the ending theme song is "Märchen" by Kalafina.
The reactions of adults and children were immediately noticeable - they flipped through the book, read and interpreted the book and laughed. She believed that the book should be given to all Arabic-speaking children in their own language as a welcome gift. She hoped that Sweden would also become a kind of Sunnanäng for those children. In Germany, in Marburg, the book was used for the event Deutsche und arabische Kinder lesen ein Märchen von Astrid Lindgren (German and Arab children read a fairy tale by Astrid Lindgren), in which, among other things, contact between German and Arab children was established.

Of his publications the most popular and the most valuable were the Deutsche Volksbücher, of which fifty-five were printed between 1839 and 1867. His best contribution to scholarship was his Handbuch der deutschen Mythologie (1853–1855). At an early stage of his career Simrock gained high standing among students of Shakespeare for his Quellen des Shakespeare in Novellen, Märchen und Sagen (1831); afterwards he translated Shakespeare's poems and a considerable number of his dramas. The large number of editions through which Simrock's translations from the Middle High German have passed (more than 53 of Das Nibelungenlied) bear witness to their popularity.
The monastery was taken down soon after she took her vows, and so she decided to return home to find the answer behind her mother's actions. Finding the deranged old woman her mother became, the nun offers her a piece of bread, that the old woman greedily devoured. But when the nun asks if she knew her, the old woman killed the nun out of madness for more of the bread, and crucified her daughter's body on an inverted cross. Finding his first "princess", Märchen decides to use two children to give irony to the nun's revenge on her mother.
A German monograph (M.A. Steinbauer, Das Märchen vom Volksmärchen: Jean-François Bladé..., Frankfurt am M., 1988) has shown, however, that many of these stories are Bladé's own invention. His information about his oral sources is confused and unconvincing (the chief of them, le vieux Cazaux, appears to be a fictional creation) and much of his collection betrays a nineteenth-century writer much indebted to the European tradition of high literature; 'La Reine châtiée', for example, one of his finest stories, is based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. To this one may add that Bladé's most perfect stories (most notably his wonderful 'Chatiments et vengeances' section in vol.
The German Fairy Tale Route passes through various scenic regions, which include eight nature parks including the Hessian Spessart Nature Park, Hoher Vogelsberg Nature Park, Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park, Meißner-Kaufungen Forest Nature Park, Habichtswald Nature Park and the Weser Uplands Nature Park. The towns and cities associated with the Brothers Grimm and located along the route are Hanau, Steinau, Marburg and Kassel. The original Children’s and Household Tales (German: Kinder- und Hausmärchen), edited and published by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1812 and known today as Grimm’s Fairy Tales (German: Grimms Märchen), can be found in Kassel. In 2005, this collection was added to the UNESCO World Document Heritage List.
Since 1966, Trauth has been working as an independent painter and designer in his studio in Siegen. In 1972 he designed and built his private house. From 1967 to 1983 his works include sketches, graphics and sculptures for internationally famous art galleries such as Artes - Kunst unserer Welt 1982-1989, ars mundi - die Welt der Kunst 1982/1983 (release of the sculpture “Du” (You) both in a bronze and a marble version as well as posters and oil paintings. Trauth published two illustrated books entitled Verschollene Gärten (Forgotten Gardens) and Mein Herz ist ein Stern - Bilder wie Träume und Märchen (My heart is a star).

Orchestral concert works by Brüll include the Im Walde and Macbeth overtures, a symphony and three serenades, a violin concerto, and the two piano concertos, as well as three other piano concertante pieces. His chamber and instrumental music includes a suite and three sonatas for piano and violin, a trio, a cello sonata, a sonata for two pianos and various other piano pieces.

MacCulloch, The Childhood of Fiction," London, 1905, p. 411 Krappe concludes, "The lay of Yonec is but a Christian and courtly version of the Irish myth of Balor in the form in which it was still current in Ireland at the time of the Norman conquest. But it was adapted to the civilisation of Mediaeval France and England and at the same time contaminated with the Märchen of the Jealous Stepmother.
The Enchanted Pig (Porcul cel fermecat) is a Romanian fairy tale, collected in Rumanische Märchen and also by Petre Ispirescu in Legende sau basmele românilor. This also stands for "civil trade and morality" whereas Dutch-Mike depicts the unbridled "profit seeking of the commercial in this first third of the nineteenth century." In the book Märchen und Sagen aus Hannover the Low German story "Dicke fette Pannekauken, blief stahn, eck will di fräten!" has an identical plot, however at the end the "Pannkauken" (pancake) will meet hungry orphan children and so it lets itself be eaten. The name of the tale was later shortened to Low German "De dicke fette Pannkoken" and Standard German "Der dicke fette Pfannkuchen", which both can be translated to "The thick fat pancake". In the books the pancake is often depicted with little feet contrary to pictures in other variants of the fairy tale. The end of the German tale differs from the Ukrainian.

Folk tales of the runaway food type are found in Germany, the British Isles, and Eastern Europe, as well as the United States. In Slavic lands, a traditional character known as Kolobok () is a ball of bread dough who avoids being eaten by various animals (collected by Konstantin Ushinsky in Native Word (Rodnoye slovo) in 1864). "The Pancake" ("Pannekaken") was collected by Peter Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe and published in Norske Folkeeventyr (1842-1844), and, ten years later, the German brothers Carl and Theodor Colshorn collected "The Big, Fat Pancake" ("Vom dicken fetten Pfannekuchen") from the Salzdahlum region and published the tale in Märchen und Sagen, no. 57, (1854).
While in her third year of training, she received a notification that the she had been accepted into the I'm Enterprise talent agency; she then debuted as a voice actress in 2016. Among her earliest roles was as the character Li Xuelan in the 2018 anime series Märchen Mädchen. Later that year, she was cast in her first main role as the character Akari Amano in the anime series Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood. The following year, she was cast as Rū Hitoma in the anime series Over Drive Girl 1/6 and Rin Namiki in the multimedia franchise Kandagawa Jet Girls.
Perrault's "La Belle au bois dormant" (Sleeping Beauty), illustration by Gustave Doré Literary fairy tales were not unknown in the Roman era: Apuleius included several in The Golden Ass. Giambattista Basile retold many fairy tales in the Pentamerone, an aristocratic frame story and aristocratic retellings. From there, the literary fairy tale was taken up by the French 'salon' writers of 17th century Paris (Madame d'Aulnoy, Charles Perrault, etc.) and other writers who took up the folktales of their time and developed them into literary forms. The Grimm brothers, despite their intentions being to restore the tales they collected, also transformed the Märchen they collected into Kunstmärchen.
Märchen Adventure Cotton 100% was released on the Super Famicom in early 1994. It is perhaps best described as something of a reinterpretation of the original Cotton – the enemy graphics and behaviors, the gameplay mechanics, some of the stages and bosses, as well as the plot itself are virtually identical to the first game. However, in addition to many unique stages and enemies, the theme and colors in Marchen Adventure Cotton 100% are much brighter, and the actual level mapping is significantly different from the first game. Marchen Adventure Cotton 100% also came with a free mini-audio CD which featured music and dialogue based on the game.
After the war, Mühringer settled in Salzburg, where she made a living translating from English, and taking on secretarial work and proof reading for publishing houses. She met the writer Hans Weigel, who persuaded her to move to Vienna, and became her mentor. In 1954, he published some of her poems in his collection, Stimmen der Gegenwart (Voices from the Present). In 1976, she published her own rather different version of the fairy tale "Der Wolf und die sieben Geißlein" ("The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids") by the Brothers Grimm, as part of the children's book Neues vom Rumpelstilzchen und andere Haus-Märchen von 43 Autoren, compiled by Hans- Joachim Gelberg.
Laura Gonzenbach (1842–1878) was a Swiss fairy tale collector, active in Messina, who collected fairy tales in a number of Sicilian dialects. Gonzenbach was born in a Swiss-German community of Sicily, to a German- speaking mercantile family. (Her sister, Magdelena, began a school in Messina.) She became well educated and gained renown for the stories she gathered from a diverse range of sources, often other women. After the prompting of Otto Hartwig for material to append to a historical survey of the country,Aus Sicilien: Cultur- und Geschichtsbilder, Cassel und Göttingen (1867-1869) she produced what would become an important two volume collection, Sicilianische Märchen (Sicilian folk-tales), published in 1870.

"The Stone-cutter" is a supposed Japanese folk-tale published by Andrew Lang in The Crimson Fairy Book (1903), taken from 's Japanische Märchen (1885). Peter goes to the "wrong father", Dutch-Mike, because he has no trust in his industry (see Erikson's stages of psychosocial development § Competence: Industry vs. Inferiority). The name Peter was chosen because it used to be very common, allowing everyone to identify with him.
A tale of greed that begins with a somewhat dim country girl born in a poor farming village before it was invaded by General Gefenbauer. Like the other girls in her village who were sold away, she came to work for the aged and enigmatic landlady of the Black Fox Inn known for its famous liver dish. But what she did not know is that the landlady obtained her livers from human corpses rather than buy them to maintain her expensive lifestyle, eventually hanging the servant girl to use her liver when the number of corpses begin to run low. Expressing regret that the country girl served as an unwitting accomplice, Märchen reanimates her so she can take revenge by taking the greedy landlady's liver as compensation.
Märchen Maze, notably the PC-Engine release, received mostly mixed reviews — while critics praised its graphics and controls, many would criticize its difficulty for drastically spiking up later on and for its unimpressive boss fights. The Brothers Grimm collected and retold the fairy tale in Das Märchen vom Schlaraffenland ("The Tale About the Land of Cockaigne").

In 1913, after returning from a study visit in Paris, she married a physician, Dr. Ernst Steinitz. With the outbreak of war in 1914, her husband joined the army as a military physician. In 1917, he was called to the front, and in 1918 the Steinitz family, which now included daughters Ilse and Lotti, relocated to Hanover. A third daughter, Beate, was born in 1920.
