Ahlbäck served over 44 years as archivist for Svenska Litteratursällskapet Finland, the Swedish Literature Society's folklore archive in Finland. She began her professional work in 1937, which included field work throughout Finland, and later, Sweden. In 1965 she moved to Malax where she founded the Kvarken Boat Museum with her husband.

Solomon Skuza (1954–1995), also known as Jah Solo was a Zimbabwean musician, one of the most popular to come out of Plumtree In addition to his native Kalanga, he wrote lyrics in Ndebele, Shona and English as well. Other popular Kalanga musicians include Nduna Malaba (Ndux Malax), Ndolwane Super Sounds, Mokis Connection and Solomon's brother Chase Skuza.

The road goes through the following municipalities: Turku – Raisio – Masku – Nousiainen – Mynämäki – Laitila – Pyhäranta – Rauma – Eurajoki – Luvia – Pori – Merikarvia – Kristinestad – Närpes – Malax – Korsholm (south) – Vaasa – Korsholm (north) – Vörå – Nykarleby – Pedersöre – Kronoby – Kokkola – Kalajoki – Pyhäjoki – Raahe – Siikajoki – Lumijoki – Liminka. In Vaasa and Korsholm, the road (as Porintie) merges with the Vaasa-Helsingby motorway in Vikby, continues along this road to a motorway exit into Yhdystie, which bypasses Vaasa city center from east, and again through an exit to the right (east) as Kokkolantie into Kokkola and beyond. A notable bypass is that of Nykarleby and Jakobstad, which lie some 9–10 km north of the road.

In Newfoundland, popular folklore maintains that a heavy crop of fruit means a hard or difficult winter. Similarly, in Finland and Sweden, the number of fruit on the trees was used as a predictor of the snow cover during winter, but here the belief was that the rowan "will not bear a heavy load of fruit and a heavy load of snow in the same year", that is, a heavy fruit crop predicted a winter with little snow. However, as fruit production for a given summer is related to weather conditions the previous summer, with warm, dry summers increasing the amount of stored sugars available for subsequent flower and fruit production, it has no predictive relationship to the weather of the next winter. In Malax, Finland the reverse was thought.

Karin Ahlbäck of Malax, Finland was a member of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement until the World Scout Conference in 2017. From 2008 to 2011, Ahlbäck served as Youth Advisor to the World Scout Committee representing the World Scout Youth Forum, serving in the Educational Methods Committee, Registration Fee Task Force and World Scout Youth Forum 2011 Planning Committee, and was elected to the World Scout Committee at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in January 2011, and again at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2014. Ahlbäck lives in Helsinki, works as a management consultant, and holds a Masters in Applied Mathematics and Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in Otaniemi, Finland. She studied abroad at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland.
