The BBC interviewed 27 former captives held in Bagram in June 2009. The BBC Report featured Noor Habib making a drawing of a man shackled to the ceiling, while the narrator said he described being chained to the ceiling with his feet suspended in freezing cold water.

A village is growing by the shore, and on the summit of a hill a rude temple has been erected, from which the smoke of sacrifice is now ascending. In the fore-ground, on the left, is seated an old man, who, by describing lines in the sand, seems to have made some geometrical discovery. On the right of the picture, is a female with a distaff, about to cross a rude stone bridge. On the stone is a boy, who appears, to be making a drawing of a man with a sword, and ascending the road, a soldier is partly seen.

Louis Dupré (Versailles 9 January 1789 - 12 October 1837 Paris) was a French painter, especially noted for his travels in Greece and other regions within the Ottoman Empire and of his numerous paintings with Orientalist and Philhellene themes. Louis Dupré had been a student of Jacques-Louis David, and had later become a painter for Jérôme Bonaparte, receiving commissions from the court. Dupré had studied in Italy and had also received commissions during his travels there.

He was the first Spanish architect to gain first hand knowledge of the ruins of the Parthenon of Athens, making a drawing of their plans. In 1853 Jerónimo de la Gándara became a teacher in the Madrid School of Architecture, where he became a Professor in 1855 and held academic positions until 1873. Gándara was a member of the commission that investigated Spanish monuments and reported their findings in the major illustrated book Monumentos arquitectonicos de Espana published by the state in 1859, with text in Spanish and French. In this role, he was involved in excavations, exploring ruins in central Spain that predated the Al-Andalus period, some from the time of the emperor Justinian I and his successors.

The miniatures are attributed by inscriptions to at least twenty artists, most of them apparently Hindus, though the main artist, Khvaja Abd-al Samad, is Muslim.Brend, 66 One miniature, of Khusraw hunting, is the latest known work of Abd al-Samad, former head of the imperial workshop and one of the artists Humayun had brought from Persia some forty-five years earlier, at the start of the Mughal tradition.Titley, 193 The single scribe was Abd al-Rahim ('Abd al-Rahim 'Ambarin Qalam), a leading calligrapher of the day. Unusually, when the manuscript was inherited by Akbar's son Jahangir, an extra miniature was added by order of the new emperor with a double portrait showing the scribe at work facing Dawlat, the artist of the new miniature, making a drawing of him.
