A draw may be rejected either verbally or by making a move (the offer is nullified if the opponent makes a move). The actual offer of a draw may be made by asking directly "Would you like a draw?" or similar, but players frequently agree to draws by merely nodding their heads . In international chess, the French word remis is an offer of a draw. A draw by agreement after only a few moves (usually before much battle has been done) is called a "grandmaster draw".

Icing is not enforced for a team that is short-handed. If the goaltender makes a move from his net to play the puck, the icing is immediately waved off (in contrast to minor league and international hockey, where the goaltender must play the puck for it to be waved off). Icing can also be waved off if, in the officials' opinion, the defending team had a viable opportunity to play the puck before crossing the goal line. After an icing, a TV timeout cannot be called.

A player is not allowed to give perpetual check. This is not a rule in itself, but arises from the repetition rule.

Alec Wilder wrote of the song, "It is a smooth, direct, slightly rhythmic ballad of no great range and unmistakably a song of its time, the late thirties. It makes a move in the second half of the B section (the design is A-B-A-C/A) into the key of A major from the parent key of F major, which adds that dash of color needed in a song of so direct and unpushy a nature. It is a song with both sophistication and a flavor of the past."Wilder, Alec.

'The Doctor' has now been demoted from the lead of the race to fifth position in just half a lap. James Toseland makes a move at Starkey's Straight for sixth position as Pedrosa has a moment and runs wide upon entry of The Esses (Turn 9). This allows fourth place Dovizioso to try and take him around the outside but he rides upon a damp kerb and loses traction, not allowing him to make the move. At the Melbourne Hairpin Rossi lunges down the inside of Dovizioso and with Pedrosa avoiding the Italian, he passes both and moves up into third spot.
Stoner has lost another position on the previous lap, being overtaken by Gábor Talmácsi and now lingering at the bottom in sixteenth position, only ahead of his teammate - also on rain tyres - which is Nicky Hayden. Elías in fifth now has a gap of +1.707 seconds over sixth place Toseland. Lorenzo has opened up a gap to Pedrosa, who himself is now coming under pressure from Dovizioso, Rossi and Elías - who has closed the gap to the Italian.

Ratings fell sharply beginning in 1988 (as documented in the Sacramento Bee) as KWOD fell into third place in a three-way battle with cross-town competitors KSFM and KROY. Even after KROY changed to The Eagle as a classic rock station, the ratings remained dismal leading to a change of format in May 1991 to a Top 40/modern rock music hybrid which evolved into a modern rock music format by June 1993."KWOD makes a move to modern rock format", The Sacramento Bee, May 11, 1991.

Inside that group, Hayden is also opening up a slight gap to Roberts Jr, with Pedrosa harassing him all throughout the lap. At the Sachsen Kurve (Turn 13), Rossi makes a move on Hopkins for sixth by diving down his inside. A similar move is also done by Hayden on both Roberts Jr. and Pedrosa at the same corner, making a very late lunge and taking the lead on the exit of the corner. On lap two, both Tamada and Melandri pass Roberts Jr. at the beginning and exit of the Coca-Cola Kurve, promoting both to third and fourth place.

Virtually all board games involve "turn-based" play; one player contemplates and then makes a move, then the next player does the same, and a player can only act on their turn. This is opposed to "real-time" play as is found in some card games, most sports and most video games. Some games, such as chess and Go, are entirely deterministic, relying only on the strategy element for their interest. Such games are usually described as having "perfect information"; the only unknown is the exact thought processes of one's opponent, not the outcome of any unknown event inherent in the game (such as a card draw or die roll).
Exiting Turn 9, Jacque has a big moment, almost causing him to crash but somehow holds on and doesn't lose a place. At the end of the long straight before Turn 14, Hopkins passes the now fading Elías for fourth place, Jacque then trying to do the same but running wide, allowing the Spaniard to reclaim fifth place. Just as it looks like Jacque makes a move to take fifth place again, Elías goes straight on into the pits to take his jumpstart penalty, promoting the Frenchman up to fifth without much effort. Lap seven has started and Rossi now sets the fastest lap of the race.

Maria falls out with Audrey when she refuses to give her any independence at work, and eventually, a heated argument leads to Maria quitting her job at the salon.
A piece can be promoted when it makes a move that starts and/or ends at the aforementioned promotion zone (i.e. when it moves either into, out of, or wholly within the zone). However, if the piece in question is dropped (see drops), it can only be dropped in its unpromoted state (regardless of where it is dropped and whether it was captured as promoted or not); it can then be promoted on subsequent turns as per above. This means that, unlike standard chess where promotions are relatively uncommon, in shogi they occur multiple times in a single game and can play a crucial role in tactics and strategies.
A particularly popular variant is blitz chess, in which each player is given a short time, such as five minutes, on the clock in which to play the entire game. The players may take more or less time over any individual move. The opening moves in chess are often played quickly due to their familiarity, which leaves the players more time to consider more complex and unfamiliar positions later. It is not unusual in slow chess games for a player to leave the table, but the clock of the absent player continues to run if it is their turn, or starts to run if their opponent makes a move.
Barros then makes a move at the unnamed right hand corner before Strubben and is back up to second, with Kocinski going slightly wide at the banked corner, allowing Barros some breathing room. This fighting allows Crivillé to build up a small gap to the two. It looked like Barros had secured second place, but coming out of Duikersloot he had a big moment, allowing Kocinski to catch right up to him, passing him at the Meeuwenmeer in the process. All this was enough for Crivillé to build up big enough of a gap and cross the line to win his first ever 500cc race in his premier-class rookie season.
She is physically the strongest human in the series and fights by using her fists that are powerful enough to punch through multiple floors at once. It was revealed that as an exchange for her immense strength, she was given a condition to never step on the earth. Unlike Meme, Deishū, and Gaen, she works for free which means that she only hunts and kills oddities because that is what she truly wanted. Yozuru says that she is fond of Koyomi as an individual, however if Koyomi makes a move that is going against her sense of justice, she will not hesitate to kill him.
Schiller also developed a method of philosophy intended to mix elements of both naturalism and abstract metaphysics in a way that allows us to avoid the twin scepticisms each method collapses into when followed on its own. However, Schiller does not assume that this is enough to justify his humanism over the other two methods. He accepts the possibility that both scepticism and pessimism are true. To justify his attempt to occupy the middle ground between naturalism and abstract metaphysics, Schiller makes a move that anticipates James' The Will to Believe: > And in action especially we are often forced to act upon slight > possibilities.
"Pick and Roll" is an offensive play in which a player stops to screen (block) a defender for the teammate handling the ball and then slips behind the defender to accept a pass as the handler makes a move towards the basket. In the NBA, John Stockton and Karl Malone were a quintessential pick and roll tandem and used this play to great effect in the 1990s. Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire proved to be extremely effective at the pick and roll throughout the 2000s. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James and Blake Griffin and Chris Paul were considered among the best contemporary pick and roll tandems.

On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, God's Favorite Customer has an average score of 83 based on 29 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Reviewing the album for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine stated that, "Compared to Pure Comedy... God's Favorite Customer feels light and breezy. That's intentional, of course. Father John Misty never makes a move that isn't considered, and God's Favorite Customer is designed to be the digestif after a multi-course feast: a palette cleanser that riffs upon the flavors lingering on the tongue." In The A.V. Club, Matt Williams wrote that the album's "intimacy and honesty results in some of Tillman’s most stunning songwriting".
Can be upgraded to game misconduct or match penalty depending on severity. ; Too many men on the ice : Having more than the allowable number of players (six, including the goaltender, if not already short handed) on the ice involved in the play at any given time. "Involved in the play" is key; players that are entering the ice as substitutes for players coming off (line changing) may enter the ice once the player returning to the bench is less than five feet from his team's bench (Rule 74.1); at that point the returning player is considered out of the play, even if the play passes in front of the bench, unless he actively makes a move for the puck.

"Three's Company History" In 1976, she starred alongside John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt in the second pilot for Three's Company on ABC. Lanier, who served as the original choice by the producers to portray the newly created character Chrissy Snow, replaced Susanne Zenor in the cast when the characters, that were directly based from the original British sitcom Man About The House were done away with, but Lanier herself was then replaced by Suzanne Somers.
When a player makes a move, such that the opponent's sole remaining emperor or prince could be captured on the following move, the move is said to give check to the emperor or prince; the emperor or prince is said to be in check. If a player's last emperor or prince is in check and no legal move by that player will get it out of check, the checking move is also mate, and effectively wins the game. Unlike Western chess, a player need not move out of check, and indeed may even move into check. Although obviously not often a good idea, a player with more than one royal (emperor or prince) may occasionally sacrifice one of these pieces as part of a gambit.

At the Honda Corner (Turn 4), Gibernau makes a lunge up the inside of Capirossi and takes the lead as Rossi tries to go around the outside of Bayliss but gets blocked off and has to stay behind. Further back, Biaggi - who had overtaken Tamada before - also makes a move down Edward's inside to take sixth position. Exiting the hairpin, Gibernau immediately starts to open up a gap to Capirossi as Rossi hounds Bayliss through Siberia (Turn 6) but almost loses fourth himself to Barros behind him at the entry of the fast unnamed Turn 7.
Like standard shogi, the majority of shogi variants have similar rules for promotion, where all but a few pieces have the ability to promote, but only to one type of piece each. In most (but not all) variants, the player's promotion zone is likewise bounded by the position of the opponent's pawns at the start of the game. There are, however, some differences, especially in variants larger than shogi itself. For example, in the historical variants chu shogi and dai shogi, among others, the option of promotion is more restrictive than in the standard game: a piece can promote normally as it enters the promotion zone, but if it makes a move out of or wholly within the zone, it can only promote if it also captures another piece.
Too many men on the ice and/or starting the wrong lineup can also simply be called a substitution infraction. ; Too many men on the ice : Having more than six players (including the goalie) on the ice involved in the play at any given time. "Involved in the play" is key; players that are entering the ice as substitutes for players coming off may enter the ice once the player returning to the bench is less than five (5) feet from his team's bench (Rule 74.1); at that point the returning player is considered out of the play, even if the play passes in front of the bench, unless he actively makes a move for the puck. Players entering the ice are part of the play as soon as their skates touch the ice.

Upon releasing the weight however, its altered programming would allow it to simply let the weight drop, since it would have played no further active part in the resulting injury. The music video depicts, in between the band playing the song, a chess game played by two hooded beings. One is dressed in white and represents Life and all Mankind's accomplishments (a baby developing in a womb and a Moon landing (Apollo 11 ?) is seen in two clippings), while the other wears black and is meant to represent Death and Destruction (as seen by clips of a military landing (war) and a nuclear explosion). The pieces in the chess set are characters from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. At the end of the video, the chess piece that is the rook, on the side of the figure in white, makes a move across the board to the king piece of the figure in black; putting him into either check or checkmate, as the camera zooms out and the black figure pauses, before the video fades out.
