Godfrey's initial return to television occurred in a TV special centered on his gratitude to have survived what was by 1959 standards, an almost-certain death sentence. He sang, danced, did commercials and announced that he'd make greater use of the new videotape technology for the future. In 2004, Mayo Clinic's self-funded health plan increased cost sharing for its employees and their dependents for specialty care visits and other services such as imaging, testing and outpatient procedures. In general, Phạm Văn Đồng was considered a staunch communist and a great nationalist leader, one of the most faithful disciples of Ho Chi Minh and a major figure in Vietnam's fight for independence and unity. He was known as a politician who tried to maintain a neutral position in the various conflicts within the party, particularly after the establishment of the Vietnamese Socialist Republic in 1976. Although retired from public office, he served as an Adviser to the Party Central Committee from December 1986 to 1997. He often urged the party to make greater efforts to stop corruption, which is still a widespread problem in Vietnam today.

Open clamshell doors of an EC145 The French Sécurité Civile (Civil Guard), French Gendarmerie and the Landespolizei (State Police) of Hesse, Germany became the first operators of the EC145 upon receipt of the initial deliveries in April 2002. The Sécurité Civile procured the type as a replacement for its aging Aérospatiale Alouette III fleet, winning out against the Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin. In November 2006, the Sécurité Civile were planning to make greater use of the EC145's IFR capabilities for operations within bad weather and at night time. In 2008, the Gendarmerie reportedly stated that the EC145 has a per aircraft availability rate of roughly 90 percent.

It advocated expelling of 2,675,000 people from Greater Serbia, including 1,000,000 Croats and 500,000 Germans. A total of 1,310,000 Serbs would be brought to Greater Serbia from outside its boundaries, of which 300,000 would be Serbs from Croatia. Greater Serbia would not be entirely Serb, however, as about 200,000 Croats would be allowed to stay within its borders.

Some ideas which were considered included a switch to electric buses (which would make Greater Sudbury Transit one of the first transit agencies in Canada to do so), improvements to cycling-transit integration, adoption of "smart" fare card technology, and a renewal of the existing diesel bus fleet. In February 2019, major changes were announced for the service to be supported by the $99 million fund, which would see the creation of a new bus route, more frequent service (especially on Sundays), more early morning service, fare reductions, and a restructuring of the entire local transit system around three major hubs, rather than the single downtown terminal. These hubs would include the existing terminal as well as one in New Sudbury and another at the south end of the city.

Lendering's biography of Alexander the Great (Alexander de Grote) attempted to make greater use than earlier scholars of Persian and Babylonian sources. Melcher wrote there was an element of self-interest to Guindon's strategy since Satan's Choice was the largest club and his strategy for peace by mutual respect for each other's territories enshrined the dominance of his club by preventing challenges. Melcher further noted that as a business strategy, Guindon's peace strategy was quite rational as the lack of a police crackdown allowed Satan's Choice to make greater profits than would be the case if the police were cracking down. Guindon was described as extremely charismatic and was idolised by his followers. In 1970, Satan's Choice had about 300 members in 12 chapters, making Satan's Choice second largest outlaw biker club in the world, being exceeded only by the Hells Angels.

Taiwan-born Xie Jishi became a first Foreign Minister of Manchukuo. The political climate in Japan was also undergoing changes during this time.

By 2010, while renovations on the Main Branch were ongoing, the New York Public Library had cut back its staff and budget in other branches following the Great Recession of 2008. In 2012, a Central Library Plan was announced, in which the nearby Mid-Manhattan Library and Science, Industry and Business Library would be closed, and that the Main Branch would be turned into a circulating library. As part of the plan, over a million books would have been put into storage in the Research Collections and Preservation Consortium (ReCAP) warehouse in New Jersey, shared with Princeton University and Columbia University. Although some critics praised the plan as a move that would allow visitors to make greater use of the Main Branch's research facilities, a majority spoke out against it, with one editorial deriding it as "cultural vandalism".

Legislation passed in 2014Acts of 2014, Chapter 149: AN ACT RELATIVE TO NATURAL GAS LEAKS requires gas suppliers to make greater efforts to control some of the 20,000 documented leaks in the US state of Massachusetts. The new law requires grade 1 and 2 leaks to be repaired if the street above a gas pipe is dug up, and requires priority be given to leaks near schools. It provides a mechanism for increased revenue from ratepayers (up to 1.5% without further approval) to cover the cost of repairs and replacement of leak-prone materials (like cast iron and non-cathodically protected steel) on an accelerated basis. The law sets a target of 20 years for replacement of pipes made from leak-prone materials if feasible given the revenue cap; , Columbia Gas of Massachusetts (formerly named "Bay State Gas"), Berkshire Gas, Liberty Utilities, National Grid, and Unitil say they will meet this target, but NSTAR says it will take 25 years to complete.

Extending for six months the mandate of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, the Security Council today welcomed recent progress in the talks between representatives of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides, and called on the parties to use that momentum to make greater strides towards "full-fledged negotiations". Unanimously adopting resolution 1818 (2008) to extend through 15 December the world body's 43-year- old Mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the Council welcomed the opening just two months ago of the Ledra Street crossing, "which has helped foster greater trust and interaction between the two communities". It also reaffirmed the importance of continued crossings of the Green Line by Cypriots, and encouraged the opening of other crossing points. The resolution also welcomed the agreement between Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders of 21 March, and the 23 May Joint Statement, which, among other things, demonstrated a renewed political willingness to support and engage fully and in good faith with the United Nations efforts; reaffirmed the commitment of the leaders to a bicommunal, bizonal federation with political equality, as set out in the relevant Security Council resolutions; and to consider further civilian and military confidence-building measures.
