The Golden Arena awards were established in 1955 as the Yugoslav national film awards presented annually at the Pula Film Festival in Pula, Croatia, with the Big Golden Arena for Best Film its main prize. Almost all the stories from the collection were translated into foreign languages and included in anthologies of short prose around the world including Germany, USA, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, India, Great Britain, France, etc.

Edwin Leo Thomas (born 11 June 1987) is an English actor who works in theatre, TV and film. Thomas studied French and Portuguese at Wadham College, Oxford, before studying acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the Laurence Olivier Bursary Main Prize, and the Mary Selway Bursary. Thomas worked as an actor for one year after graduating, appearing on screen in BBC's 'Restless' (2012), ITV's Inspector Lewis (2013), and as John Colville in ITV's Churchill: 100 Days That Saved Britain. A feature film titled Mancs (released internationally as Paw) was released in late 2014, after several years of delay. The film, which alternates between live action and animation, was only loosely based on the life of Mancs. It was directed by Róbert Adrián Pejó and wasn't well received in Hungary; critics especially disliked that the film, aiming to be family friendly, downplayed tragic events such as earthquakes, and was set in a time period impossible to determine, with some scenes and elements reminding the viewer of the 1980s, some of them of the 1990s and some of the 2000s. In 1894, Pierre Giffard, editor of Le Petit Journal, organised the world's first motoring competition from Paris to Rouen to publicise his newspaper, to stimulate interest in motoring and to develop French motor manufacturing. Sporting events were a tried and tested form of publicity stunt and circulation booster. The paper promoted it as "Le Petit Journal Competition for Horseless Carriages" (Le Petit Journal Concours des Voitures sans Chevaux) that were "not dangerous, easy to drive, and cheap during the journey", the main prize being for "the competitor whose car comes closest to the ideal". The first competitive 'city to city' motoring event had been the 1894 Paris–Rouen where the Count Jules- Albert de Dion was first into Rouen but steam-powered vehicles were ineligible for the main prize. Likewise, in 1895 the nascent Automobile Club de France) (ACF) organised its first event, the Paris–Bordeaux–Paris race, but excluded two-seater cars such that their official winner, a four-seater, finished 11 hours after Émile Levassor. Edison Studio is a collective of composers and an electroacoustic music ensemble. It was founded in Rome in 1993 by the composers Mauro Cardi, Luigi Ceccarelli, Fabio Cifariello Ciardi e Alessandro Cipriani. Since more than 20 years Edison Studio is active in the electroacoustic music scene, thanks to the awards and prizes it has received for its compositions (International Computer Music Conference1993–1995, 1997, 1999–2003, 2008, Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges 1996–1998, Main Prize Musica Nova 1996, Prague, Prix Ars Electronica 1997, 1998, etc.). Edison Studio has realized music productions for Venice Biennale (2000 and 2001), Ravenna Festival (1999, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2016, 2017), RomaEuropa Festival 2016, 2017, Moscow Autumn Festival 2012, REDCAT Disney/California Institute of the Arts Theater Los Angeles 2005, etc.

Prizefighter 3 took place on 24 October 2008 back at the York Hall and featured a different weight class to the previous two events with welterweights competing for the main prize. Fighters taking part in the competition were former European champion Ted Bami; English champions Nigel Wright and Ross Minter; Former ABA champion Michael Lomax; Commonwealth challenger Craig Dickson; Midlands Area champion Mark Lloyd; Former IBO light middleweight champion Steven Conway, and Andrew Ferrans. The main prize of the International Competition had different names throughout the history of the festival, but in 2004 it was definitely changed to Ástor in honor of the Argentine musician Ástor Piazzolla. The twenty-second Mar del Plata Film Festival, held in March of 2007, introduced a new competition specifically for Latin American film- makers. Now days, the festival helds four main competitions organised in various sections of the official selection: International Competition, Latin American Competition, Argentine Competition and, the more experimental one, Altered States Competition. Currently, the awards given by the jury at the International Competition are: Golden Ástor for Best Film, Silver Ástor for Best Director, Silver Ástor for Best Actress, Silver Ástor for Best Actor, Silver Ástor for Best Script, and a Special Jury Award.

Something Different () is a 1963 Czechoslovak film directed by Věra Chytilová. The film intersperses two separate narratives: one following Vera, a fictional housewife living in Czechoslovakia, and another following Eva, an Olympic gymnast played by real-life Olympic gold medalist Eva Bosáková. Chytilová's first feature-length film, it is regarded as one of the breakout films of the Czech New Wave, as well as an early example of women's cinema in the Eastern Bloc. While not as well known as some of Chytilová's other films such as Daisies and Fruit of Paradise, it won the main prize at the 1963 Mannheim Film Festival, and has been praised by both contemporary critics and 21st century retrospectives, in addition to receiving a fair amount of attention in academic film literature.

Winners of the major prize have included Makinti Napanangka in 2008, and Danie Mellor in 2009. In 2008, the Art Gallery of Western Australia established the Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards, which include the country's most valuable indigenous art cash prize of A$50,000, as well as a A$10,000 prize for the top Western Australian artist, and a A$5000 People's Choice Award, all selected from the field of finalists, which includes 15 individuals and one collaborative group. The 2009 winner of the main prize was Ricardo Idagi, while the People's Choice award was won by Shane Pickett. Wayne Quilliam was awarded the 2009 NAIDOC Artist of the Year for his many years of work on the local and international scene working with indigenous groups throughout the world.

The group was formed in Minsk by Vitaly Artist in 1998. Having started with folk songs in Belarusian, by 2004, the band moved on to a more complex electronic and indie rock style. beZ bileta have won the Rock Coronation Belarusian Music Award on several occasions, including in 2000 as "Discovery of the Year", "Song of the Year" in 2001 for their hit "My Motherland Belarus", and in 2009, where they received the main prize, the "Rock Crown", as well as prizes in the categories "Album of the Year" and "Video of the Year". The band has performed at numerous festivals, both at home and abroad, including at Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk (Belarus), Basovišča (Poland), Fiesta Borealis (Poland - together with Hair Peace Salon and Jitters), Spirit of Woodstock (Italy), and Good-By (Germany).

Vladimir Menshov also appeared in it as a co-author of the script. In 1979 he received "The Seahorse" (Konik Morski) award for the sculpture "Shipyard", then in 2000 the main prize in the National Competition for the Protection of the Natural Environment, and two years later – again the first prize in the same competition. He was repeatedly invited to participate in exhibitions at the Centro Dantesco dei Frati Minori Conventuali museum in Ravenna, Italy, where he won numerous awards. Many of his works of art have been bought by Polish and international museums, including the sculpture: “Collection” – bought during the Inter Art exhibition in Poznań, or the sculpture: "Pegasus for sale" – purchased by the National Museum in Bratislava. "The Steps to the White House" was sold to the President of the United States, and the Madrid Museum of Sport (Museo del Deporte) presents the sculpture: "The Sports Fan".

All new art forms come into light by processes of experimentation: either by crossing, altering and pushing traditional boundaries or by merging classic conceptions/practices with new technologies/techniques. moves11 investigated the importance of these fusions in screen-based art, and tried to highlight connections that look at multicultural and interdisciplinary creation, as well as new forms of representation that question conventions and move towards the creation of new genres and disciplines. moves is committed to showcase the best experimental works exploring "movement on screen" from around the world and so far has showcased works from artists such as Gina Czarnecki, Goran Vejvoda, Simon Fildes, Alex Reuben, Sergio Cruz, or Telenoika, guests included Donald Glowinski, Judy Gladstone, Jamie Watton. The moves11 award - the main prize of the 2011 edition of the festival - was awarded to "Spin" by Max Hattler.

The main programme of the 4th London Russian Film Festival included the controversial One War by Vera Glagoleva, a moving relook at crime and punishment during the Second World War, and Svetlana Proscurina's latest thought provoking film The Truce, an unsettling portrayal of provincial Russia laced with humour and lyricism which won Russia's Kinotavr’s main prize. Also amongst the main programme's feature films were the applauded Gastarbeiter by Yusup Razykov and Reverse Motion by Andrey Stempkovsky. The documentary programme looked back at last decade in Russia, offering a window into the real Russia, with screenings of the ten finest Russian documentary films, one for each year. Garri Bardin’s The Ugly Duckling, a children's stop-motion animated film with Orwellian overtones deemed so politically subversive it was banned from showing on Russian television, was the opening night film.

In addition, the festival was not held at all in 1948 and 1950, while in 1968 no awards were given as the festival was called off mid-way due to the May 1968 events in France. Also, the jury vote was tied and prize was shared by two directors on seven occasions (1955, 1969, 1975, 1983, 2001, 2002 and 2016). The winner of Best Director Award rarely wins the Palme d'Or, the main prize at the festival (note that the Palme d'Or is awarded to the film's director as well; the only exception is the case of Blue Is the Warmest Colour, where the actresses were also awarded with the director). Upon winning the top award in the Israeli Docaviv film festival, Israel's Culture Minister Miri Regev attacked the film and “the choice to make a movie focusing on a lawyer who represents, supports and speaks in the name of many who undermine the State of Israel’s existence, use terrorism against its soldiers and people, and win legal and public support from Tsemel.” Right-wing activists and organizations, including Im Tirtzu, picketed Mifal HaPayis, Israel's national lottery company and the sponsor of Docaviv's main prize, which shortly after announced it would pull funding for future Docaviv festival awards due to pressure from right-wing activists. The decision caused a media uproar, and in response, hundreds of Israeli filmmakers, as well as academics and public figures signed an open letter in support of the film. The Cultural Institutions Forum and multiple creative and artists associations mounted a protest before the organization's offices.

The Gift of the Gods Championship was a professional wrestling championship promoted by Lucha Underground. Unlike most traditional professional wrestling championships, the Gift of the Gods Championship is promoted by what it grants the champion instead of being the main prize in itself; holding the Gift of the Gods Championship entitles the champion to a match for the Lucha Underground Championship at a time of their choosing, provided they give a one-week notice to properly promote such a high-profile match. The concept is similar to the WWE Money in the Bank contract that also grants a title match at the winner's option, but unlike Money in the Bank, it does not allow for an immediate championship match. If the Gift of the Gods champion redeems the championship for a Lucha Underground Championship match, the medallions are removed and redistributed to determine the competitors for the now vacant title.

Thus it blurred the distinctions between a reliability trial, a general event and a race, but the main prize was for the first across the finish line in Rouen. 102 people paid the 10 franc entrance fee. On 22 July 1894, 69 cars started the 50 km selection event that would show which entrants would be allowed to start the main event, the 127 km race from Paris to Rouen.

Over the years he also participated in some other song festivals: three times at the Benidorm International Song Festival (1973, 1975 and 1981); at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 1979, where he got the main prize; or at the Yamaha Music Festival in 1982. Janssens promptly obeyed and the movements of his troops threw a scare into the Allies. At 5:00 am on 5 March, Guard cavalry divisions under Pierre David de Colbert-Chabanais and Louis Marie Levesque de Laferrière surprised and captured Reims and its Allied garrison. Prior to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, ARD broadcast the 45-minute-documentary “Flying High in the Middle Kingdom: Doping in China”, which Hajo Seppelt produced with Jo Goll. The Daniel Guggenheim Aerospace Engineering Building at Georgia Tech During the war, Daniel's son Harry Guggenheim became a pilot and both became avid supporters of aviation technology. In the 1920s they established the Daniel Guggenheim Medal for achievement in aeronautics and provided grants via the Daniel Guggenheim Fund for the Promotion of Aeronautics for aeronautics research at California Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University, Northwestern University, Stanford University, Syracuse University, the University of Akron, the University of Michigan, and the University of Washington. In 1927 he offered a $100,000 main prize and five $10,000 prizes for the "Guggenheim Safe Aircraft Competition", which required entered aircraft to be stable in rough air, land in 500 feet and take off in 300 feet, both over a 35-foot obstacle and be able to sustain flight at 35 mph, and 38 mph with the power off. 15 aircraft were entered of which only two, the American Curtiss Tanager and the British Handley Page Gugnunc met the requirements.

The Manchester Writing School launched the second Manchester Fiction Prize in January 2011 with Nicholas Royle once again acting as Head Judge. The number of judges was increased from three to four in 2011, with short story writers Heather Beck, John Burnside and Alison MacLeod joining Royle on the panel. While the main prize remained at £10,000, and the competition was still open to anyone aged 16 or over, the Young Writer of the Year element was dropped as the rise in UK university tuition fees made it financially unfeasible to offer a bursary. The 2011 Prize received a record number of entries - almost 1,900 from over 45 countries - and the judges were so impressed with the overall quality that they asked to increase the short- list from six to eight, and to commend an additional 31 stories ; the international nature of the competition was reflected in the make-up of the short-list, with four finalists from the UK, three from the USA and one from Canada.

Even though the Iceland project never came to pass, and Jack Steward eventually ceased to exist in 1994, Maciej Jędrzejko invited Paweł Konieczny, Aleksander Kleszcz and Karol Wierzbicki of the ex- Jack Steward's line-up to help form a new group, which, since 1994, already as an a cappella quartet, adopted the name of Banana Boat. Thus formed, Banana Boat made its debut on the stage of the 1994 Tratwa Festival in Katowice and, subsequently, it gained its early recognition by winning (among others) the Commander Zbyszek Sowiński Award (Tratwa'94), the Main Prize of the 1994 edition of the Prosiak Festival and, importantly, an honorary mention of the jury of the 1996 edition of the prestigious Shanties Festival in Cracow, Poland. In the years 1996-1998, the group - whose members, by then, had commenced their university education - suspended its activity, only to return to the maritime stages of Poland by the end of 1998. At this stage, Banana Boat made its name as an a cappella quintet, which - reinforced by the former bass singer of the famous Polish group North Cape, Piotr "Qdyś" Wiśniewski - transformed into the present-day sextet at the turn of 2008 and 2009.
