William B. Cassel (born September 20, 1955) is a judge of the Nebraska Supreme Court, representing Nebraska's Third Judicial District. Cassel was appointed to the court on April 26, 2012 by Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman, filling a position made vacant by the appointment of John M. Gerrard to the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Prior to his appointment, Cassel was in private practice in Ainsworth, Nebraska from 1979 to 1992, worked for twelve years as a district judge, and served on the Nebraska Court of Appeals from 2003 to 2012. He is a fellow of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation and of the American Bar Foundation.

In 1934, Sanders was elected to the United States House of Representatives for the Baton Rouge-based Sixth District, a seat also held by his father from 1917 to 1921, and made vacant by the death of incumbent Bolivar E. Kemp. Sanders first ran in a "revolt election" in December 1933 protesting a hurriedly called special election won by Kemp's widow, Esther, known as "Lallie" Kemp. The House refused to seat either Sanders or Lallie Kemp. Wilson, an ally of Long and the father of Cajun humorist Justin Wilson.

As Pence was barred by Indiana law from simultaneously running for both offices, he subsequently withdrew from the gubernatorial election. Pence went on to become Vice President of the United States. He was replaced on the ballot for Governor by his former running mate, incumbent Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb, who was selected by the Indiana Republican State Committee as the nominee on July 26, 2016. Holcomb later selected State Auditor Suzanne Crouch on August 1, 2016, to be his running mate as the nomination for Lieutenant Governor was made vacant by the decision of Holcomb to seek the gubernatorial nomination; she was confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Indiana Republican State Committee later that day.

Barnes resigned his chairmanship of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway but remained a director and major shareholder after becoming a Liberal MP for Bolton in the election of 1852. He held the seat until 1857, then tried unsuccessfully to win the Bury constituency in the 1859 election. Having regained unopposed the Bolton seat made vacant by the resignation of Joseph Crook in 1861, he retained it in 1865 but lost again in the 1868 general election, when the two available seats were won by John Hick and William Gray. He chose not to stand in the 1874 general election but was invited to do so, once again for Bolton, in that of 1880.

In 1907 Stephenson sought the U.S. Senate seat made vacant by the resignation of John C. Spooner and, after a brief deadlock, was elected by the Progressive- controlled state legislature. In 1908 he ran for renomination in the Republican primary, was opposed by La Follette, but despite this opposition won the nomination through the aid of the state chairman of the Republican party William D. Connor and lavish use of his personal wealth, and was re- elected by the legislature in 1909. Months later, he stood for the hereditary peers' vacancy to the 90-elected such seats in the House of Lords, following the death of Hugh Mackay, 14th Lord Reay, when Lord Borwick was elected.www.parliament.uk On 12 October 2015, he was created a life peer as Baron Hailsham of Kettlethorpe, of Kettlethorpe in the County of Lincolnshire, enabling him to sit in the House of Lords.

Kirsch grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her mother, a painter, and her father, an inventor and MIT professor. Because of dyslexia, Kirsch struggled through school and was told she was not a candidate for her first-choice college, Tufts University. However, her tenacity and drive, which she described in a letter to the admissions office, was enough to gain her admittance to the University, where she served as a Tufts Community Union Senator and student member of the Board of Trustees. Kirsch is the wife of Alan Khazei, founder of City Year and Be the Change and former candidate in the Massachusetts 2009 special election to fill the Class 1 seat in the United States Senate made vacant by the death of Senator Ted Kennedy.

Forrest in 1909. On 30 December 1900, Forrest accepted the position of Postmaster-General in Edmund Barton's federal caretaker government. Two days later, he received news that he had been made a GCMG "in recognition of services in connection with the Federation of Australian Colonies and the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia". Forrest was postmaster-general for only 17 days: he resigned to take up the defence portfolio, which had been made vacant by the death of Sir James Robert Dickson. On 13 February 1901, he resigned as premier of Western Australia and as member for Bunbury. In the March 1901 federal election, the first one ever, Forrest was elected, unopposed, on a moderate Protectionist platform to the federal House of Representatives seat of Swan.

McCallum was born at Langhorne's Creek a son of John McCallum of "Ballindown", and was educated at Glenelg Grammar School for a year, then under a private tutor at McGrath's Flat. He lived in the Meningie district since childhood, and his holding at McGraths Flat was one of the biggest in the district, with a frontage along the Coorong, carrying 6,000 sheep and many cattle. He was in 1888 elected a foundation member of the District Council of Meningie, and was associated with the council ever since, and for many years was chairman. He joined the Liberal Union when it was formed around 1912, and was in 1920 selected to stand for the Southern district seat of the Legislative Council, made vacant by the resignation (and subsequent death) of Joseph Botterill.

Mulcair promised to seek a mandate for Senate abolition during the 2015 Canadian federal election even though the Supreme Court had ruled in 2014 that abolition would require the consent of all ten provinces. Born in rural Lincoln County, Missouri near Whiteside, he was educated at Culver-Stockton College and the University of Missouri. After holding various local offices in Bowling Green and Pike County, Long was elected to the Missouri State Senate, where he served from 1945 to 1955; he was elected majority floor leader in 1952 and President pro tempore in 1955. In his first statewide race, he was elected the Lieutenant Governor of Missouri in 1956, serving from 1957 until his appointment in 1960 by Governor James T. Blair, Jr. to the Senate seat made vacant by the death of Thomas C. Hennings, Jr.. He won election to the Senate in his own right in 1962, but lost a primary challenge to Thomas Eagleton in 1968, and resigned his seat on December 27 of that year, resuming his law practice in Missouri. Long voted in favor of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968, as well as the 24th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the confirmation of Thurgood Marshall to the U.S. Supreme Court.

When Steve Austin won the Royal Rumble in 1998 Mr. McMahon made it quite clear he was not happy with a rebellious, foul-mouthed beer drinker as the potential representative for his company should he win the WWF Championship at WrestleMania XIV.
