Mahdist revolts continued to break out in Sudan until 1916. The fall of Darfur was decided when Ali Dinar declared loyalty to the Ottoman Empire in World War I. The British abolished the Fur Sultanate in 1916 after Dinar died in battle. In World War I Darfur made a bid for independence by allying with Turkey against the British.

Its home field was Capilano Stadium. Boehm made a bid for Indianapolis to be the host city at the PASO meeting in Mexico City in November 1984. Indianapolis had recent success in hosting national and international sporting events, with the most recent one being the 1982 National Sports Festival, and was the headquarters of the Amateur Athletic Union. Because of this, the city already had over $136 million worth of first- class sporting venues.

Roughly 15% of the Sabres' business comes from residents of the area of Ontario between Hamilton and Buffalo, and the Sabres or the Leafs could require "an enormous indemnification payment" to allow an additional team to be established within a 50-mile radius. An unnamed bidder made a bid for the Sabres in February 2011, offering $259 million for the team to move it out of Buffalo, which would either mean the team would relocate to Hamilton or it would clear the way for another team to make such a move. On 5 July 2013, new United manager David Moyes announced that Rooney was not for sale, after speculation that Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were among the clubs looking to sign him. On 17 July 2013, Chelsea confirmed that they had made a bid for Rooney the previous day, thought to be in the region of £20 million, however it had been rejected by Manchester United. He suffered a head gash in training on 31 August after a collision with Phil Jones which kept him out of the match against Liverpool. Also during the same year more extensions were added to the studios (which included a new car park), which were officially opened on 17 November 1978. On 22 November 1979 the Newcastle Broadcasting and Television Corporation officially became NBN Limited, after the station itself rebranded from Channel 3 to NBN Television around 1977. By the late 1970s, NBN was producing 20 hours a week of local and networked programming from its studios, which in turn led the station to purchase a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter for news coverage purposes.

According to historian Francis John Byrne the Ulaid 'possibly still ruled directly in Louth as far as the Boyne in the early seventh century'p. 113, Byrne, Francis John, Irish kings and high-kings, Batsford, 1987, when Congal Cáech made a bid for the kingship of Tara. In 637, the Battle of Moira, known archaically as the Battle of Magh Rath, was fought by the Gaelic High King of Ireland Domhnall II against his foster son King Congal Cáech of Ulster, supported by his ally Domhnall the Freckled (Domhnall Brecc) of Dalriada.

Leedy returned to Luray in March 1918 and was elected the following fall as an unopposed Democrat to the Senate of Virginia, representing Page, Warren, and Clarke counties. During this time, Leedy continued to be a strong advocate for the National Guard and he collaborated with James Hay in the development of the Hay Army Bill, giving new status to the National Guard. Leedy was also known, during his time in the Senate of Virginia in 1920, for his strong opposition to prohibition and Women's Suffrage. In that same year, Leedy unsuccessfully made a bid for the United States House of Representatives, running against Thomas W. Harrison, of Winchester, Virginia, for Virginia's 7th Congressional District.

In September 2005, Barcelona-based Gas Natural made a bid for Endesa, whose board unanimously immediately rejected a €23 billion (£16 billion) offer. On January 5, 2006, the Tribunal de Defensa de la Competencia (Competition Court, TDC) blocked the merger of Gas Natural and Endesa because of what it claimed would be irreversible negative impacts on competition. For most of 2006 and 2007, Endesa was the target of rival takeover bids by Germany's E.On and the Italian firm Enel. Despite Gas Natural being half the size of Endesa, its bid was championed by the then-Socialist government as an all-Spanish deal, but Gas Natural decided to withdraw its bid after the German firm E.On offered a higher bid for the company.

The Oceania Cooperative Union (OCU), an alliance of the nations of South Asia, South East Asia and Australia that was created in 2025, dispute this claim when the two superpowers colonized the island in 2065.

He scored on his debut against Notts County and finished the season as the club's top scorer with 14 goals in 51 games, including one in the 2001 Potteries derby. Paul Jewell's Wigan Athletic made a bid for McPhee that was accepted by his club (£300,000), however the deal fell through as the Scotsman's agent rejected Wigan's contract offer. The 2002–03 season was one largely devoid of goals for the striker, his strike against Oldham Athletic in October ended a run of 21 games without a goal, but only two goals followed in the remaining 34 matches.

In spite of his uncles warfare and attempts to push him out, Tirlough eventually outlived both uncles and grew to some importance in the turmoil of the later 16th century. Tirlough stood for election as The O'Neill in 1583 when it was thought that Turlough Luineach O'Neill, the reigning O'Neill, had died, and led sizeable groups of fighting men in 1575 and throughout the 1590s during the Nine Years' War. He is listed as having the ability to raise "50 Horse and 200 foot" soldiers out of his territories at 24 hours' notice to fight. Tirlough again made a bid for the lordship in the 1590s, but his cousin, Hugh O'Neill, 3rd Earl of Tyrone, bought him off with a gift of territory.

On October 10, 2002, Martin Frost was among the 81 House Democrats who voted in favor of authorizing the invasion of Iraq. He served two terms as the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus from 1999 to 2003, the number three post in the Democrats' House leadership after the minority leader and minority whip. As Democratic Caucus Chair, Frost was often at odds with another prominent Dallas-area Congressman, Dick Armey, who was the Republican House Majority Leader. Due to term limits as Democratic Caucus Chair, Frost made a bid for Minority Leader after Dick Gephardt resigned in the wake of losing four seats in the 2002 Congressional midterm elections, but Frost dropped out of the race and supported eventual winner Nancy Pelosi.

In late Cao Wei or early Jin times, the Southern Xiongnu nobles claimed that they had Han Dynasty ancestry as well—through marriage alliance (Heqin) which many princesses of Han dynasty married many chanyus (ruler of Xiongnu) throughout different period in Xiongnu history and therefore changed their family name to Liu, the same name as the Han imperial clan.

In the first part of 2018–19, while representing Erzeni, Goxha was utilised as a striker by coach Gentian Stojku, scoring an impressive 7 goals in 12 appearances in Albanian First Division. His performances attracted the attention of Tirana, who made a bid for the player in the winter transfer window. On 28 January 2019, Tirana announced the signing of Goxha on an 18-month contract. Angelo Palmones former representative of AGHAM Partylist made a bid for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to stop the proclamation of Ang Probinsyano on the grounds that it allegedly took undue advantage of naming themselves after Ang Probinsyano for name recall. Palmones argues that this gave the partylist, 1,210 minutes of indirect exposure from February 12 until April 5 (from the official start of the campaign season to the date when Palmones' petition was filed) and also took note the endorsement of two of the series' lead actors. The Section 9 of Comelec Resolution 10488 limits campaign advertisements for national candidates to 120 minutes for television which Palmones argues the partylist and ABS-CBN violated. Ang Probinsyano was among the 51 winning partylist groups proclaimed by the Comelec.

In June 2007, Berardo made a bid for 60% of Sport Lisboa e Benfica - Futebol, S.A.D.'s shares at €3.50 a share, a 30% premium to the recent share price. But the price was well below the €5 a share set at Benfica's IPO in May 2007, when after an initial flurry of optimism the shares fell steadily to below €3 apiece, hammered hard by the team's fourth-place finish in the Portuguese Liga and the failure to make any great gains in European competition. Berardo's bid was not hostile, as reports said the Benfica management had been informed in advance and was generally in favor of the offer. Overall, the bid was worth some €31.5 million and was conditional on Berardo netting 50% of the company plus one share, to ensure control.

The Gur-e-Amir in Samarqand, Uzbekistan Miran Shah's headstone (far left) in the Gur-e-Amir Timur had never unambiguously appointed an heir, so at the time of his death in February 1405, a succession dispute erupted among his surviving sons and grandsons. Miran Shah was Timur's eldest living son by this point, but was not considered an active contender to the throne and was passed over in favour of his own son, Khalil Sultan. The latter proclaimed himself emperor at Tashkent soon after his grandfather's death and seized the royal treasury, as well as Timur's imperial capital Samarqand. Sultan Husayn Tayichiud, a maternal grandson of Timur as well as Miran Shah's son-in-law, also made a bid for the throne before aligning himself with Khalil Sultan.

The Rāmtek Kevala Narasiṃha temple inscription is a key and unique record for the history of the Vākāṭaka kings and their interrelations with the Gupta dynasty. Like many eulogistic inscriptions it provides the genealogy of the donor's family, in this case a daughter of Prabhāvatīguptā, herself the daughter of Chandragupta II. Of particular significance is the fact that the inscription records the marriage of Prabhāvatīguptā's daughter to Ghaṭotkaca, the king of central India who made a bid for supremacy and who is mentioned in the Tumain inscription of Kumāragupta. BCE (owners of Bell Media and previous cable rightsholder TSN) made a bid for sole national rights to the NHL, and attempted to contact the CBC in regards to forming a partnership. However, CBC Sports' staff did not respond. In turn, Rogers Communications also made a bid of its own. On November 26, 2013, the NHL announced a 12-year deal with Rogers for exclusive Canadian television and digital media rights to all NHL broadcasts beginning in the 2014–15 season; the deal was valued at $5.2 billion, twice as much as what NBC paid for its own long-term contract with the league in 2011. As part of the deal, CBC sublicensed a package of games from Rogers, allowing the network to continue airing Hockey Night in Canada at least the first four seasons of the agreement (2014–15 thru 2017–18).

Quevega made a bid for a four-timer in the Mares Hurdle off a similar prolonged break as the previous two years, and again was rated a short priced favourite to do so. In the race she quickened to lead approaching the last to beat Kentford Grey Lady by four lengths. This year, the World Series Hurdle saw a clash between Quevega and her old rival Voler La Vedette, who had won the Hatton's Grace Hurdle that season and was fresh off an excellent second place to Big Buck's in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. The race boiled down to a duel between the two mares approaching the straight, but Quevega stayed on the best to defeat her opponent by over five lengths, with Mourad once again being placed. Trainer Willie Mullins described her as “a real good mare”.

Fox Sports Detroit traces its origins to 1996, when News Corporation purchased 50% of the Prime Network, a group of regional sports networks owned by Liberty Media, and immediately rebranded them under the "Fox Sports Net" banner. At the time of the purchase, Post-Newsweek Stations (owners of Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV-TV, channel 4) owned the Detroit-based Pro-Am Sports System (PASS Sports), which served the local affiliate of the Prime Network. News Corporation announced plans to launch a Fox Sports Net affiliate in Michigan by 1998, and made a surprise bid for, and won, the local cable television rights to NBA games involving the Detroit Pistons. When PASS Sports' respective National Hockey League and Major League Baseball broadcast rights to the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers franchises came up for renewal, Fox Sports Net made a bid for the contracts and won them both.

Despite this, practically all oil and gas revenues from production and exports activities in Aceh was appropriated by the central government either directly or through production sharing agreements with state oil company Pertamina. The final game of pre- season involved a Luton XI side playing against Arlesey Town in the Bedfordshire Premier Cup final on 9 August. Luton lost the game 2–1, with Danny Crow scoring. After the game, it was confirmed that trialists Nathan Elder and Matt Paterson would not be offered contracts. Luton made a bid for League Two side Oxford United's striker James Constable on 10 August, though this was rejected by the club. On 11 August, it was confirmed that Luton's first game of the season against AFC Telford United would be postponed due to stretched police resources in the wake of the 2011 England riots and a planned English Defence League march in Telford that same day. On 12 August, Luton loaned out young defenders Alex Lacey and JJ O'Donnell to Cambridge City for one month. In the second half Clemence made a magnificent save against Uli Stielike when the score was 1–1. Liverpool retained the European Cup in 1978 with a narrow 1–0 win over Club Brugge at Wembley, but conceded their League title to Nottingham Forest, to whom they also lost in the League Cup final.
