The plot revolves round the family of Shama Pradhan, a rural farmer, and his two sons, Baraju (played by Sarat Pujari) and Chakadi (played by Prashanta Nanda), and disagreements over the family home and land after his death. On his death, Shama Pradhan entrusts his elder son Baraju with the responsibility of looking after his younger son Chakadi, and entreats him to keep the family land and home together, and not split it between the two brothers. Baraju is a peace-loving person who commands respect from the villagers for his idealistic way of life, and Baraju's wife Harabou (played by Bhanumati Devi) is portrayed as an ideal housewife, who is very caring and affectionate towards Chakadi, his wife Netramani (played by Sujata Anand) and their two children. Chakadi, in contrast, is shown as carefree and irresponsible, happy to loaf around the village.

Liz and Jack are both torturing themselves, Liz because a conversation with Tracy has made her feel like she isn't exciting and spontaneous enough, and Jack over his mother's sarcastic and condescending final words, that she only wanted him to be "happy". The pair travel to Florida to settle his mother's estate, but receive a shock when her live-in nurse Martha (Lynda Gravatt) speaks of what a kind and loving person she was, something which contradicts everything Jack knew about her. Liz pokes around, only to discover that the pair had shared a bedroom, the walls of which are adorned with pictures of the two of them together, indicating that they were in a lesbian relationship. However, when she attempts to relay this to Jack, he refuses to believe her and dismisses their bed-sharing as being perfectly normal between two friends.

Veerappan wanted the scene to be deleted from the film as he felt that people would not want to see an actor like Rajinikanth getting beaten up. Rajinikanth offered to show a sneak preview of the film to Veerappan on 15 December 1994, and if Veerappan did not want the scene to be in the film, the scene would be re-shot, and Rajinikanth offered to bear the costs for re-shooting the scene himself. The shooting was stalled for five days after Krissna's meeting with Veerappan. Later, Krissna, Raju, the choreographer for the stunt sequence, and cameraman Prakash concluded that the scene would be tweaked in such a way that it would be as if Mother Nature is angry at the treatment being meted out to a peace-loving person like Manikkam; it was also planned that backlighting and a poignant background music would be used as well.

She was considered as a young and beautiful girl that when she started her singing career that she was given the nickname "Small Princess." From 1986 to 1991, she starred in many Hokkien soap operas, including 'No more wine for sale 酒矸通卖無', 'Sentiment of the Wind and Rain 风雨情', 'where are you 君在何处', 'love you in the bone 爱你入骨', 'neighbor relatives 隔壁亲家', 'Mother of God 顺天圣母', 'the story of eight faithful dogs 忠义八犬传', 'You are my most loving person 你是我最爱的人', 'little genius 小天才', 'mother 妈妈', 'little angry 冷冷的怒', 'Mother's day 三八亲母', 'Spring wind and autumn rain 春风秋雨', 'powerful prince 盖世皇太子' and 'Unmatched couple 菜鸟配凤凰'. During that period of time, she also recorded many music albums, mostly in Hokkien. In 1990, she released a series of Hokkien classical songs 歌坛小公主 (The Singing Princess), featuring her playing the piano or guitar as she was singing or dancing.
