On 5 July 1247, Pope Innocent wrote to the bishops of Germany and the Bishops of Gallia (France) that, because both ecclesiastical and lay persons were lawlessly plundering the property of the Jews, and falsely stating that at Eastertime they sacrificed and ate the heart of a little child, the bishops should see to it that the Jews not be attacked or molested because of these or other reasons.

The contrast of light en shadow enhances the dramatic effect. On the right there is a group of curious onlookers who appear to comment on the event. On the left, on the other hand, the people who appear are oblivious to what happens; there is a woman holding a little child in her arms and looking toward the viewer, putting a tender and delicate counterpoint to the cruelty that dominates the rest of the scene. Some critics have wanted to see an allegory of Charity in this figure.

As a little child Silas (Patrick Bach) was sold to a circus where he learned to pull stunts and tricks from early on. This comes in handy when he decides to rather live an adventurous life on his own than to be trained in the dangerous art of sword swallowing. Also being threatened by director Philipp (Diether Krebs) that the sinews of his feet would be cut just in order to prevent him from running away, it occurs to him it is now or never and off he goes. A farmer called Bartolin (Shmuel Rodensky) gives him shelter but underestimates the boy's skills and carelessly bets him his horse.
"555-2368" is the phone number used by Jim Rockford in the TV series The Rockford Files (as seen during the opening credits), in the TV series The Mod Squad (episode: "And a Little Child Shall Bleed Them") and the Ghostbusters (as seen during their TV commercial within the film). 555 numbers are mentioned directly in the 1993 action film Last Action Hero, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. "Danny Madigan" (played by Austin O'Brien) tries to convince Schwarzenegger's character that he is inside a movie by pointing out the 555 exchange provides at most 9,999 available telephone numbers, insufficient for all the phone users in Los Angeles.
Night is a poem that describes two contrasting places: Earth, where nature runs wild, and Heaven, where predation and violence are nonexistent. It is influenced by a passage from the Old Testament: Isaiah 11:6-8 "The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox." In the poem, the first stanza describes a landscape with "the sun descending," when the world is settling quietly into night.
Dr. Samuel Johnson was a prolific English writer who is attributed with many quotes on the character of man and drinking. His alcohol problem and ultimate need for abstinence was well documented and he was quoted as saying "I can't drink a little, child, therefore I never touch it". The Doctor Funk cocktail has more certainty as to its name and has been described as a Tiki drink precursor. Jeff Berry in Beachbum Berry Remixed states that unlike most Tiki drinks that were called Polynesian but "made up" in California that "the Doctor Funk, alone among "Polynesian" drinks, does in fact have Polynesian roots".
The use of the diminutive, as in extant Algonquian languages, may have had some semantic functions that varied between dialects. Although it is the general rule to use diminutive endings on small, young and little things, examples from other Algonquian languages such as Ojibwe indicate that it can be used as a term of endearment, such as n'nechan _emes_ (nuneechan _âmees_ ) , 'my little child,' but can also be used, in certain contexts, to mark something as inferior or degrading, such as keen wosketomp _ees_ (keeen waskeetôp _ees_ ) , 'you little man' but could have nuanced implied meanings of being weak, small in stature, inferior or unworthy dependent on context.
The funeral service for Little Miss Nobody was conducted at the Congregational Church in Prescott, Arizona, and was officiated by Dr. Charles Franklin Parker, with over 70 mourners in attendance. At this service, a placard was placed upon Little Miss Nobody's pale blue casket, with the inscription reading: "God's little child, date of birth unknown, date of death unknown." Her headstone is inscribed with a section of a quote from St. Matthew, which reads, "Blessed are the Pure in Heart." During the eulogy at the funeral of Little Miss Nobody, Dr. Parker recited a poem entitled "For a Little Girl Unknown"The Long Term Missing: Hope and Help for Families p.
She is a witch who demands from the children that they bring her the grass that sings, and the bird that is blue so that her own little child who is sick may be restored to health and happiness. Upon agreeing to find the bird, the fairy crowns Tyltyl with a magic cap set with a wonderful diamond, which has power to disclose the past and future, and to turn inanimate objects and animals into speaking creatures. Everything around the children begins to take life and voice: milk, sugar, light, bread, the fire, cat and dog. Suddenly the window opens and the children set off on their quest.
He was buried in Barnes Old Cemetery together with his father and aunt; his career is described in detail on his headstone. A brass tablet was placed in the inquest room of the Royal Free Hospital with the inscription "This tablet has been erected by the authorities of the Royal Free Hospital, Gray's-inn-road, and the medical staff to the memory of Samuel Rabbeth, M.B., M.R.C.S., Senior Resident Medical Officer of this hospital, who sacrificed his own life in the endeavour to save that of a little child, a patient under his care. Died 20th October, 1884; aged 26 years." A scholarship was named after him.
When Rolsø Church was torn down in 1908 various inventory, including a Roman baptismal font built in the 1100s by the roman master stonecutter, Holter, was transferred to the new church in Vrinners. Holters granite baptismal fonts are often made with a thick chiseled rope circling the basin holding the holy water.Religion.dk, Oversight over Kristne Symboler.dk The purpose of this ornamentation is based on the belief that the graphic magic of the unbroken band of rope prevents evil spirits crossing the rope and entering the holy water in the inner basin gaining access to the little child, according to the priest in Hammelev, Jette Seidelin Christensen.
Idolizing Kengo Kimura as a little child, and after graduating from high school, Otani moved out from his parents house after being heavily criticized by them for choosing a professional wrestling career, he left with 60.000 yen in his pocket. He went to Tokyo to start training in Animal Hamaguchi's gym. Otani's life was hard at the beginning, since he was homeless and his money only paid for a small tatami-like dwelling for 24,000 yen. However, thanks to Hamaguchi, Otani found himself working in a liquor store, where he gained a lot of money that paid his debts, and got him a better place to live, and at the same time he was training for his upcoming debut.
On Sunday 13 December the boat finally arrived, and he wrote to his wife: "Later then I will be seeing you, as I will see my little child who I hope is completely healthy..." But the girl had died one week before on 5 December. At dusk, a devastating letter arrived from his wife: "My beloved Arturo, our dear little angel is still not well; I feel my heart fainting from pain and you are not here to hold me... If it were possible for you to come, that would be my only comfort. Don't despair my wellbeing, think of your unhappy Carmela." Adding to Prat's desperation, the steamboat would not leave until the 18th.
Samuel Pedro attained to high clerical offices, while his brother Ahab-Felipe became a leader in the Cortes, and Isaac Fernando was assistant curator in the University of Saragossa. The youngest brother, Luis, who was baptized as a little child, was appointed tesorero, mayor, or chief treasurer, by Don Juan of Navarre. The sons of Isaac Fernando were engaged in farming the public taxes, and through their wealth secured high positions in the state. Pedro de la Caballeria negotiated the marriage of Queen Isabella I of Castile to Don Ferdinand II of Aragon, and had the honor of presenting to the royal bride a costly necklace, valued at 40,000 ducats, defraying part of the cost himself.
New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1911. 20 December 2019] A second medal, which bears the name of Gaudentianus on the obverse and Urbicus on the reverse, depicts seemingly on one face the sacrifice of Abraham; on the other apparently a shrine or altar, above which three candles are burning, towards which a tall figure carrying a chalice in one hand is conducting a little child. The scene appears to represent the consecration to God of the child as an oblate by his father before the shrine of some martyr, a custom for which there is a good deal of early evidence. Other medals are much more simple, bearing only the Chi Rho with a name or perhaps a cross.
The BBC banned "Disarm" from Top of the Pops because of the lyric "cut that little child", and it received little radio airplay in the United Kingdom.Virgin Carlsberg Rock Yearbook 94/95 By Tony Horkins That lyric along with lyrics like "what I choose is my choice" and "the killer in me is the killer in you" has also led to some controversy, as some read it as a reference to abortion. The band's front man Billy Corgan has stated that the song reflects the shaky relationship he had with his parents while growing up. Corgan revealed at a performance in 2019 that the song was written on the same day as "Today", which he called his "Suicidal Anthem".
She was unplaced in the 1995 Maltese final with "Just One Love" but managed third place in 1997 with "Lovers Play with Words". In September 2006, Mary announced that she hoped to participate in the Malta Song for Europe Festival in 2007, and submitted a number of songs, none of which were selected for the Maltese Song for Europe Festival. Mary tried again and she has successfully entered two songs which competed in Malta Song For Europe in 2008, but was unsuccessful in reaching the Eurovision. In 2014 it was announced that Mary Spiteri held the longest note for 13 seconds in Eurovision Song Contest history with her performance of Little Child in 1992.
Photograph 1 , Photograph 2 In the article that she wrote for a Russian newspaper she described how she saw a large crowd of Meskhetian Turks from Khojaly, who were led to captivity by the Armenian militants. She mentioned that she was hit by an Armenian soldier who took her for one of the captives, when she was helping a woman who was falling behind the crowd with four children, one of which was wounded, and the other one was newly born. The captives were later exchanged or released, and in 2011 Ivleva found in Azerbaijan that woman. Her little child grew up, but did not speak because of the shock she suffered in her childhood.
Kirkwood, Clerk of Convocat, a staid old married man, He'd like to do a lot for us but don't know if he can, In spite of his exterior so silent and so grim, The Saints all love him very much, in fact one married him. Inhabiting the Angel's Roost in quiet solitude, Economical of voice, Mr. Ashley is Subdued. His non-committal speeches of a humanistic tone Are usually heard in the front two rows alone. There's one professor on the staff of literary fame; Through writing modern novels he has made himself a name, And so as a result, a famous author he is styled Although-and not remarkable-he's but a little Child. Although Muscle of Love went to on the Billboard 200 and earned a gold certification, it was considered something of a commercial disappointment in light of its predecessor Billion Dollar Babies having reached and attaining platinum. Muscle of Loves songs have been rarities at Alice Cooper's subsequent concerts: apart from the title track (performed erratically in 1989, 1997 and since 2004)Alice Cooper Setlists; 'Muscle of Love' plus four performances of "Teenage Lament '74" in 1996 and 2004,Alice Cooper Setlist; 'Teenage Lament '74' nothing from Muscle of Love has been performed since 1974. "Never Been Sold Before", "Crazy Little Child", "Man with the Golden Gun" and "Woman Machine" have never been performed live.

And if a physician bind it up and the other testicle which is beside it be infected thereby, or take harm; or in a quarrel she injure the other testicle, they shall destroy both of her eyes." # "If a man bring his hand against the wife of a man, treating her like a little child, and they prove it against him, and convict him, one of his fingers they shall cut off.
Finally, there was a burnt cigarette butt at his feet, despite Clinton being a non-smoker. Tom surmises one of the six killed him where he sat, then dragged the body to one of the pillars and dropped a stone (mistakenly from the bottom of the column) on his head to make it seem like an accident. Next, Tom reveals that his card reads, "YOU are a HIT-AND-RUN KILLER". After getting everyone else to reveal their cards (the others are EX-CONVICT, INFORMANT and LITTLE CHILD MOLESTER), he confesses to having had an affair with Clinton, revealing himself to be the homosexual and suggesting that one of the secrets belongs to each of the others.
Sardar Makhan Singh and Bhaagan had six children before Jagga but none of them survived. At this, Makhan Singh went to a saint Inder Singh, in the nearby village of Sodhi Wala, who told him to buy a buck (male goat) before the birth of the next baby and told him that the buck should be touched by the newly born. The saint also told him not to name the baby starting with J. However, the child was born and finally survived with the subsequent death of the buck touched by him, but an uncle of the child insisted on naming the child as Jagat Singh which was against the directions of the saint. Jagga's father died when Jagga was a little child.
Ténénan entered the monastery directed by Saint Carantec in Hibernia (present-day Ireland); the latter cured him of leprosy by plunging him into a bath, "his skin became clear and white like that of a little child," and sent him to preach in Armorica. An angel appeared to him, telling him to go to the flock that Saint Paul Aurelian had shepherded. Under the protection of the lord of the place, he founded a small town (located on the territory of the present commune of Plouédern) eponymously called lann Tinidor, later to become Landerneau. In 615, on the death of Saint Goulven, bishop of Leon, Tenenan was elected to replace him and deputies went to Ploubennec to bring him the news.
Hush-a-bye, ma baby, slumbertime is comin' soon; Rest yo' head upon my breast while Mommy hums a tune; The sandman is callin' where shadows are fallin', While the soft breezes sigh as in days long gone by. Way down in Missouri where I heard this melody, When I was a little child upon my Mommy's knee; The old folks were hummin'; their banjos were strummin'; So sweet and low. Strum, strum, strum, GUM, strum, Seems I hear those banjos playin' once again, Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, That same old plaintive strain. Hear that mournful melody, It just haunts you the whole day long, And you wander in dreams back to Dixie, it seems, When you hear that old time song.
On January 1, 1979, Chinese Vice-premier Deng Xiaoping visited the United States for the first time and told American president Jimmy Carter: "The little child is getting naughty, it's time he got spanked." (original Chinese words: 小朋友不听话,该打打屁股了。). On February 15, the first day that China could have officially announced the termination of the 1950 Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship, Alliance and Mutual Assistance, Deng Xiaoping declared that China planned to conduct a limited attack on Vietnam. The reason cited for the attack was to support China's ally, the Khmer Rouge of Cambodia, in addition to the mistreatment of Vietnam's ethnic Chinese minority and the Vietnamese occupation of the Spratly Islands which were claimed by China.
Poems can be written entirely in catalectic lines, or entirely in acatalectic (complete) lines, or a mixture, as the following carol, composed by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1848: :Once in Royal David's city (8 syllables) : Stood a lowly cattle shed, (7 syllables) :Where a mother laid her Baby (8 syllables) : In a manger for His bed: (7 syllables) :Mary was that mother mild, (7 syllables) :Jesus Christ her little Child. (7 syllables) It has been argued that across a number of Indo-European languages, when the two types of line are mixed in this way, the shorter line tends to be used as a coda at the end of a period or stanza.West, M.L. (1982). "Three topics in Greek metre".
Offspring of an ancient Madrilenian bourgeois family, his parents died when he was a little child. However, his uncle, Saturnino Calleja, a well known publisher, paid for his education at the Royal College of San Anton in Madrid, which was an elite boarding school at the time. There, in response to his family's solidarity and revealing for the first time his future strength of spirit and responsibility, graduated with an excellent academic degree (currently in safe keeping at Cardinal Cisneros High School). His wish to become an Artillery officer was shattered by the military reforms of the Dictatorship of Primo de Rivera in 1927, which forced him to study at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, directed by General Francisco Franco, to obtain his qualifications.
Reindorf was born in Prampram, Gold Coast, a palm oil trading port He was the only son of Carl Christian Reindorf Hackenburg (1806–1865), a soldier of half-Danish heritage, and Hannah Anowah Ama Cudjoe Reindorf (1811 -1902), an ethnic Ga from Kinka, Dutch Accra. Carl Reindorf's father worked as a soldier at the Osu Danish garrison before he became a local agent for an English merchant, Joshua Ridley who eventually married the older Reindorf's sister, Anna. Reindorf's grandfather, Augustus Frederick Hackenburg was a Danish merchant who came to the Gold Coast in 1739 and later became the colonial Governor, leaving the position in 1748. As a little child, he lived in ritual servitude at a fetish shrine, Digbla of Gbugla of his mother's Ga- Dangme traditional religion.
But Naaman's servants advised him that if Elisha had directed him to do some difficult thing he would have done it, so how much more should he do what Elisha directed when he said merely to wash and be clean. So Naaman dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, and his flesh came back like the flesh of a little child. Naaman returned to Elisha, avowed that there is no God except in Israel, and asked Elisha to take a present, but Elisha declined. Naaman asked if he might take two mule loads of Israel's earth so that Naaman might make offerings to God, and he asked that God might pardon Naaman when had had to bow before the Aramean idol Rimmon when the king of Aram leaned on Naaman to bow before Rimmon.
This house was all alone on the point, almost off the land, with just enough land for a small garden. The high tides sometimes inundated the garden. Between the port of St. Sampson and the creek of Houmet Paradis rises a steep hill, surmounted by the block of towers covered with ivy, and known as Vale Castle, or the Château de l’Archange; so that, at St. Sampson, the Bû de la Rue was shut out from sight..." Moreover, this house had some very nasty inhabitants besides Gilliat, :"The country people told how, towards the close of the great Revolution, a woman, bringing with her a little child, came to live in Guernsey. She was an Englishwoman; at least, she was not French. She had a name which the Guernsey pronunciation and the country folks’ bad spelling had finally converted into 'Gilliatt.
"She was a magazine of feelings and they were of all kinds and of all shades of force; she was so volatile, as a little child, that sometimes the whole battery came into play in the short compass of a day," he wrote after her death. "She was full of life, full of activity, full of fire, her waking hours were a crowding and hurrying procession of enthusiasms ... Joy, sorrow, anger, remorse, storm, sunshine, rain, darkness -- they were all there: They came in a moment and they were gone as quickly. In all things she was intense: in her this characteristic was not a mere glow, dispensing warmth, but a consuming fire." He based the character of Joan of Arc in his book Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc on his eldest daughter as he remembered her at age seventeen.
In this passage, God prescribes a plant-based diet not just for humans, but for all land-based non-human animals. Christian vegetarians and vegans point out that it was this creation—where all creatures ate plants—that God then declared "very good" in verse 31. Moreover, that God's initial creation was a vegan creation suggests that this is how God intended all his creatures to live. This idea—that God intended for all his creatures to eat plants—is sometimes further supported by noting that the vision of the Peaceable Kingdom found in Isaiah suggests that God will one day restore creation to such a state. Isaiah 11:6–9 reads: > The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, > the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall > lead them.
Clear and vivid was her memory of that trip down the Hudson River taken with her father when she was three years old, and of their arrival at the small boarding school on then fashionable Bleeker Street. At six, she was back in Middlebury, browsing in her father's large and well chosen library —she could not remember the time when she did not know how to read—a library established in a newly built house four miles up the Otter from Middlebury village in a quarter of the town called Farmingdale, a house presided over by a new step-mother. Here, also she recited daily lessons to her father and did her daily "stent" of sewing or knitting. Dorr grew to womanhood in a home of culture and refinement, and it is here where she began writing as a little child.
The price of corn was very high in the years of famine from 1315 to 1321. Owing to the Scottish wars the payment of 40 marks from the abbey of Paisley ceased altogether, probably before 1305, and it was not until 1319 that the prior and convent were able by way of compensation for their loss to appropriate the church of Whissendine, worth 55 marks, for the expenses of clothing 40 canons and 200 women. Probably by reason of its position as the head house of a purely English order, Sempringham was in high favour with the three Edwards, who sent there wives and daughters of their chief enemies. Gwenllian, the daughter of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, the last Welsh-born Prince of Wales, was sent to Sempringham as a little child, after her father's death in 1283, and died a nun of the house 54 years later.
They all shared the name "Kana" (meaning little child) Whenever the father called one, they could all come and whenever he gave one child a present, they all quarreled declaring it was intended for them, So, he asked Ruhanga if they could be given names. Ruhanga agreed but he proposed two tests to help him select the boys names. In the first test, the boys had to select some items that were placed along a path. In the second test, the boys had to keep bowls of milk on their lap during a night until morning. For the first test, Potatoes, millet, leather thong/strap and a ox’s head were placed along the path, As the children walked, they found the things in the path, the eldest son picked up the potatoes and millet, the second pick up the leather thong and the youngest, picked the ox’s head.
Isaiah 35:9 casts a lion as metaphorically forbidden in the future paradise ("No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there"); yet, Isaiah 65:25 and 11:6–7, respectively reference such formerly ravenous beasts as becoming peaceable: "The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; but the serpent—its food shall be dust!"; "The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them." "In like a lion, out like a lamb" is a proverb having to do with March weather. It has been speculated that its origin is from astrological Leo (lion) being followed by Aries (ram).
In Australian Aboriginal languages, the distinction between adjectives and nouns is typically thought weak, and many of the languages only use nouns--or nouns with a limited set of adjective-deriving affixes--to modify other nouns. In languages that have a subtle adjective-noun distinction, one way to tell them apart is that a modifying adjective can come to stand in for an entire elided noun phrase, while a modifying noun cannot. For example, in Bardi, the adjective moorrooloo 'little' in the phrase moorrooloo baawa ‘little child’ can stand on its own to mean 'the little one,' while the attributive noun aamba 'man' in the phrase aamba baawa 'male child' cannot stand for the whole phrase to mean 'the male one.' In other languages, like Warlpiri, nouns and adjectives are lumped together beneath the nominal umbrella because of their shared syntactic distribution as arguments of predicates.
Florcita Motuda won the OTI Festival in 1998 This country won the contest in two occasions: the first one in 1984 with the singer-songwriter Fernando Ubiergo with his song "Agualuna" (Moonwater). The second Chilean victory came in 1998 with the strambotical rapper and comedian Florcita Motuda with his song "Fin de siglo, es hora de inflamarse deprimirse o transformarse" (End of century, It's time to get wild, to get depressed or to transform ourselves). Apart from their victories, the Chilean member stations got the second place in the festival with Alberto Plaza and his song "Canción contra la tristeza" (A song against sadness) in 1995. Chile also got three third places in 1976 with Alfredo Fuentes and his song "Era solo un chiquillo" ("I was just a little child"), in 1985 with Juan Carlos Duque and his song "Para poder vivir" (To be able to live) and in 1992 with Pablo Herrera and his song "Para poder vivir" (To be able to live).
Clarification in place, it is nonetheless necessary to briefly refer to the biography of Espinosa Medrano as it was composed in 1887/1890 by Clorinda Matto. For her biography is still the most influential source for Peruvian popular imagination of the author, as well as the most and only known outside of the academic world. According to Clorinda Matto, Juan de Espinosa Medrano was the offspring of an indigenous conjugal union, that of Agustín Espinosa and Paula Medrano, humble parents that raised their little child "in a shack at the joyous town". At seven, Juan started his education at the class for infants taught by the priest of Mollebamba, class where —besides being a remarkable student— Juan de Espinosa Medrano would also receive instruction to act as sacristan of the parish (the parish is, according to Clorinda Matto's biography, the place in which Espinosa Medrano discovered both the religious and literate vocation that would later flourish in him as time went by).
He has deserted the army since he couldn't obtain leave to complete his honeymoon. As “Army Ajith” returns home with many presents for his newly wed wife, Komala, she is with another man in her husband's room. At the same time, Gunawardane school master comes to a school with no roof and inhabited only by cows. As Army Ajith meets with an accident after his traumatic encounter with his newly wed, Pema, her lover runs naked across the village and covers his nudity with the red cloth of the village kovil. Looking at all this activity intently is a little child named “Ukkuva”, who had arrived just recently. Ukkuva, a child who witnessed his parents’ death and having lived as a refugee, he has been thrown off a truck as he was taken from one camp to the other. He has thus become a refugee for the second time at “Kalu Visa Pokuna” village. A prisoner who has escaped from the jail hides in “Heen Eki’s” house.
369–371 Wordsworth describes the moment of finishing the poem: > My friends will not deem it too trifling to relate that while walking to and > fro I composed the last stanza first, having begun with the last line. When > it was all but finished, I came in and recited it to Mr. Coleridge and my > Sister, and said, 'A prefatory stanza must be added, and I should sit down > to our little tea-meal with greater pleasure if my task were finished.' I > mentioned in substance what I wished to be expressed, and Coleridge > immediately threw off the stanza thus:- :'A little child, dear brother Jim,' > — I objected to the rhyme, 'dear brother Jim,' as being ludicrous, but we > all enjoyed the joke of hitching-in our friend, James T —'s name, who was > familiarly called Jim. He was brother of the dramatist, and this reminds me > of an anecdote which it may be worth while here to notice.
No writer made it clearer to her readers that the child who is dutiful within his family is blessed in the sight of God; or stressed more firmly that family bonds are but the earthly and visible end of a spiritual bond running up to the very throne of God."Cutt, 41; see also Vallone, 85 and Harper, 4. This is made clear in the Fairchild parents' description of their own authority: > Whilst you are a little child, you must tell your sins to me; and I will > shew [sic] you the way by which only you may hope to overcome them: when you > are bigger, and I and your papa are removed from you, then you must tell all > your sins to God.Sherwood, The Fairchild Family, 48. Children's literature scholar Patricia Demers has referred to this connection between the family and the divine as the Romantic element in Sherwood's writing, arguing that her "characters’ zeal in finding and defining an earthly home prompts their almost automatic longing for a heavenly home.
During an interview with Y100 Miami, Gervais explained about the record: "This is the first single off of my deal with Interscope Records which I'm very excited about [...] to be part of the team, [i]t's a great label and [...] it's featuring Ali Tamposi [...] she's an amazing song-writer." On the set of the music video, Tamposi explained the background and meaning of the song: "I wrote this song in ... one of those dark moments in a relationship with someone with somebody that I felt that would ... bring us, jolt us back together, it's a sensitive subject." She explained the concept of the video in the "Making of" video uploaded by Interscope Records, saying that she had the dream of the music video, seeing herself as a little child. Gervais also discussed his production of the song: “When I produce a song, the first thing that I look for is obviously the lyrics and meaning of the song, but what I was taken by was Ali’s voice in the song.
Bluefish TV was started in 1987 when Marty Mosley, the President of Bluefish TV, and his wife Jackie Mosley began writing and producing video-based Bible studies specifically for youth groups and young adults. The same general outline is followed by Thomas H. Bestul in Texts of the Passion: Latin Devotional Literature and Medieval Society (1996), in his entry on "Devotional and Mystical Literature" in Medieval Latin: An Introduction and Bibliographical Guide (1999), and in his chapter "Meditatio/Meditation" in The Cambridge Companion to Christian Mysticism (2012). A classic textual model for affective meditation is found in the De institutione inclusarum, or The Rule for Recluses, a text written by Aelred of Rievaulx for his sister, who was living as an anchoress (a female religious recluse). In the section of the text devoted to the Nativity of Jesus, Aelred wrote: :...follow her [the Virgin Mary] as she goes to Bethlehem, and turning away from the inn with her, help and humor her during the birth; and when the little child is placed in the manger, burst out words of exultation, crying out with Isaiah: A child is born to us, a son is given to us (Is. 9.6). :Embrace that sweet manger, let love conquer bashfulness, and emotion drive out fear so that you fix your lips on those most sacred feet and repeat the kisses.
Finding his flesh "restored like the flesh of a little child", the general was so impressed by this evidence of God's power, and by the disinterestedness of His Prophet, as to express his deep conviction that "there is no other God in all the earth, but only in Israel."2 Kings 5:15 Elisha allowed Naaman to continue in the service of the Syrian king and therefore be present in the worship of Rimmon in the Syrian temple. In the Christian tradition, Jesus referred to Naaman's healing when he said, "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian." A Famine in Samaria (illustration by Gustave Doré from the 1866 La Sainte Bible) Elisha's public political actions included repeatedly saving King Jehoram of Israel from the ambushes planned by Benhadad, ordering the elders to shut the door against the messenger of Israel's ungrateful king, bewildering with a strange blindness the soldiers of the Syrian king, making iron float to relieve from embarrassment a son of a prophet, confidently predicting the sudden flight of the enemy and the consequent cessation of the famine, and unmasking the treachery of Hazael.
With the first costume change, an "Interlude of the Gods" is presented, recreating in animation the story of the creation of universe according to the Pre-Columbian Andean traditions (specifically from the mythology of the Muisca civilization, who populated part of what is nowadays Colombian territory - this is the same people from whom arose the El Dorado legend), being narrated by an indigenous child, as excerpts of her 2008 single "Despedida" are heard. The little child finishes its tale with the story of the birth of the Mother Goddess, Bachué, who was in charge to populate the Earth. Shakira, as in a Bachué embodiment, returns to stage wearing a golden belly dancing attire with her back to the crowd and a mask on the back of her head; all costume pieces are designed by Laurel Dewitt. Right after this dance personification, she executes her signature belly dancing and sings the Sahara Mix of her 2001 smash hit "Whenever, Wherever" (that previously served as the encore act for her Tour of the Mongoose); in the halfway, one more belly dance break is done, this in a very similar way of the one happened during "Ojos Así" at her immediately previous tour.
