Proprietary formats are typically controlled by a company or organization for its own benefits, and the restriction of its use by others is ensured through patents or as trade secrets. It is thus intended to give the license holder exclusive control of the technology to the (current or future) exclusion of others. Typically such restrictions attempt to prevent reverse engineering, though reverse engineering of file formats for the purposes of interoperability is generally believed to be legal by those who practice it. Legal positions differ according to each country's laws related to, among other things, software patents.

The Czech Republic is unusual in comparison to other EU countries in that the vast majority of gun owners (240,000 out of 300,000) possess their firearms for purposes of protection of life and property. Furthermore, Czech Republic has a shall-issue concealed carry permit system, whereby every self-defense license holder may carry up to two concealed firearms ready for immediate use (bullet-in-chamber). The Czech Republic had a higher rate of concealed carry licenses per capita than the US up to 2010, despite a relatively lower gun-ownership rate. Gun licenses may be obtained by passing a gun proficiency exam, medical examination and having a clean criminal record.
Not invented here (NIH) is the tendency to avoid using or buying products, research, standards, or knowledge from external origins. It is usually adopted by social, corporate, or institutional cultures. Research illustrates a strong bias against ideas from the outside. The reasons for not wanting to use the work of others are varied, but can include a desire to support a local economy instead of paying royalties to a foreign license-holder, fear of patent infringement, lack of understanding of the foreign work, an unwillingness to acknowledge or value the work of others, jealousy, belief perseverance, or forming part of a wider turf war.

In addition, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted the MRHS a new coast station license with the callsign KSM, as well as the amateur radio club callsign K6KPH for communicating with radio hams on amateur frequencies. K6KPH is unusually strong and well-equipped for an amateur station, with its professional grade transmitters, antennas and operators. Operating in amateur radio mode means following a different set of rules (using different frequencies and lower transmitter power levels), but amateurs are not limited in their choice of equipment as long as they stick to these rules.
On the other hand, Collectibles, as used in the toy show context, may or may not refer to purely childhood items. Antique political campaign buttons, greeting cards, post cards and license plates all accurately fall under the 'collectibles' umbrella, and none of them were ever designed or manufactured to be "things for children to play with." Dealers that offer collectibles often specialize in a particular area of interest, so it would not be uncommon for a toy show dealer to collect, and sell, items related to a particular manufacturer – of say, soft drinks – or to particular industry – petroleum products collectors specialize in petroliana – or even to a particular 'license holder' – those that collect Walt Disney character related (and other) items are involved in the area of Disneyana.
In 1960, the National Football League approved a franchise for Dallas, and Murchison, along with Bedford Wynne, was the franchisee or license holder. A motivating factor in the NFL's decision to award a license for Dallas was the establishment of the American Football League (AFL) by Lamar Hunt, another Dallas area businessman. Hunt, in helping create the AFL, established a professional football presence in Dallas, and the NFL realized the urgency with which they needed to address a potential market gain by the upstart league and a loss for the established organization. For the most part, Murchison was a hands-off owner, delegating a great deal of operational control of the Cowboys to general manager Tex Schramm, head coach Tom Landry and scouting/personnel director Gil Brandt.
This was a lawsuit in the United States Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, considering the ability of a copyright holder to control the future distribution and modification of their work where they allow it to be free for public use. Jacobsen made code available for public download under an open source public license, Artistic License 1.0, which Katzer copied into their own commercial software products without recognition of the source of the code. Jacobsen argued that the terms of the license defined the scope what the code could be used for and that any use outside of these restrictions would be a copyright infringement. The license holder here expressly stated the terms upon which the right to modify and distribute the material depended.

The Biological Innovation for Open Society (BiOS) project implemented a patentleft system to encourage re-contribution and collaborative innovation of their technology. BiOS holds a patented technology for transferring genes in plants, and licenses the technology under the terms that, if a license holder improves the gene transfer tool and patents the improvement, then their improvement must be made available to all the other license holders.John T. However, concealed carry license holders who are in the parking lot of a prohibited location (except a nuclear facility) are allowed to carry a concealed firearm when they are in their vehicle, and to store their gun locked in their vehicle and out of plain view. On February 1, 2018, the Illinois Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the state's ban on possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a public park was unconstitutional. On June 14, 2018, the Illinois Appellate Court ruled the law banning carrying firearms within 1,000 feet of a school to be unconstitutional. When a license holder is carrying a concealed handgun, and is asked by a police officer if they are carrying, there is a duty to inform the officer that they are.

In order to survive the remainder of the Depression, the company manufactured industrial powerplants based on their motorcycle engines. They also designed and built a three-wheeled delivery vehicle called the Servi-Car, which remained in production until 1973. Harley- Davidson UL In the mid-1930s, Alfred Rich Child opened a production line in Japan with the VL. The Japanese license-holder, Sankyo Seiyaku Corporation, severed its business relations with Harley-Davidson in 1936 and continued manufacturing the VL under the Rikuo name.
The vacant allotment sat without an actual broadcast station occupying its place from 1984 until 1995, when Mississippi College, license holder of WHJT 93.5 FM, petitioned the FCC to have the allotment removed from the Table. The college intended to upgrade the facilities of WHJT in nearby Clinton from 3,000 watts to 6,000 watts, something that could not have been accomplished with interference from a potential station on 93.7 FM in Yazoo City. After some public interest in the retaining the allotment at Yazoo City, the FCC developed an alternate solution that could accommodate all parties. The FCC moved the vacant allotment from 93.7 FM to 93.1 FM and granted the WHJT upgrade. After making the frequency change in 1995, the FCC solicited interest from parties intent on building a radio station on 93.1 FM in Yazoo City.
This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on October 9, 1979. The new station was assigned the KJAV call sign by the FCC on January 14, 1980. KJAV received its license to cover from the FCC on October 23, 1980. In August 1986, license holder Lonnie M. Horton reached an agreement to sell this station to Paulino Bernal. The deal was approved by the FCC on October 10, 1986, and the transaction was consummated on May 4, 1987. In October 2004, La Radio Cristiana Network Inc. (Paulino Bernal Jr., president) reached an agreement to sell this station to BMP Radio through their BMP RGV License Company, LP, subsidiary holding company for a reported $7 million. The deal was approved by the FCC on December 14, 2004, and the transaction was consummated on January 16, 2005.
The bill established three major provisions: # It would set up a non-profit governing agency that would create a database related to the owners of the mechanical license of musical works - the copyright that covers the composition and lyrics of a song; the actual performance and recording of the song is typically held under a different license. This musical works database would be completed with help of the major music publishers. The new agency would establish blanket royalty rates that would be used to pay the composers and songwriters when used by streaming services using this database, eliminating the difficulty previously faced by streaming services to properly identify the mechanical license holder. These royalties would be paid to the non-profit agency as a compulsory license, not requiring the mechanical license holder's permission; the agency would then be responsible for distributing the royalties.
The company owned two other resorts the vacation license holder could alternate their vacation weeks with: one in St. Croix and one in St. Thomas; both in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands properties began their timeshare sales in 1973. The contract was simple and straightforward: The company, CIC, promised to maintain and provide the specified accommodation type (a studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom unit) for use by the "license owner" for a period of 25 years (from 1974 to 1999, for example) in the specified season and number of weeks agreed upon, with only two extra charges: a $15.00 per diem (per night) rate, frozen at that cost for the life of the contract. The contract had a $25.00 switching fee, should the licensee decide to use their time at one of the other resorts.
Eventually, in an unusual arrangement for a commercial broadcast license, the station was briefly operated by Alexander County and overseen by the county commissioners before the final license holder, Stratemeyer Media, based in nearby Metropolis, Illinois, took over operations and programming of the station. For much of its existence, WKRO broadcast a "block format" featuring different genres of music throughout the day and evening – such as country, adult contemporary and urban – interspersed with frequent news and information segments. The most notable were the longstanding "10 O'Clock Local News", broadcast every morning at 10:00 a.m.; "In Memoriam", a daily report of local obituaries; "Moments with the Master", a daily devotional with local pastor Dr. Larry Potts; and, "The Ilmoky Phone Quiz", a daily quiz show where listeners were called at random and asked to answer a trivia question for cash prizes.
To make the new service possible, the big three affiliate underwent a technical transformation. It carved out a new digital, high-definition-ready master control room from space previously used for storage. WTAP also installed an entirely digital production room. Despite the market gaining its own Fox affiliate, WVAH and WTTE continue to be offered on area cable systems. WOVA was born out of then-license holder Wood Investments LLC's sale of two low- power station licenses on channel 22 (previously holding the callsign WVEX-LP) and another station on UHF channel 47 (then using the callsign WWVX-LP) to Gray Television on April 10, 2012 for $66,000. Gray filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to change the callsign of WVEX-LP to WOVA-LP on July 18, 2012, and changed its city of license from Marietta to Parkersburg.
SEMT Pielstick has also been involved in a number of export programs, such as the Saudi F 3000 S frigates (Sawari II program) and the Sigma class frigates for the Moroccan Navy (2 x 20 PA6B STC). Thanks to Fairbanks Morse Engines, license holder in the United States, SEMT Pielstick engines have also been chosen by the US Navy, the largest and most demanding customer in the sector. The 16-cylinder PC2.5 STC engine has been selected by the US Navy for its San Antonio-class LPD 17 troop transporters, which are each equipped with four engines and can carry up to 800 marines. The PA and PC engines have enjoyed considerable success in countries around the world (including China, Canada, India, Britain, South Korea, Indonesia and Russia, along with the Japanese maritime safety agency) and are used by 60 navies to power their ships.
In mid-2008, WPGG's FM sister station became WPPG and adopted both the country music programming and the "Power Pig" branding. This precipitated the AM station's flip to a syndicated talk radio format including hosts Jerry Doyle, Michael Savage, Rusty Humphries, and Phil Hendrie. On November 11, 2010, license holder Star Broadcasting, Inc., filed an application with the FCC to transfer control of the station's broadcast license to Omni Broadcasting, LLC. Both the original corporation and successor limited liability company are owned 20% by Jennifer F. Hale, 40% by Ronald E. Hale, Jr., and 40% by James F. Hale. The FCC approved the transaction on November 23, 2010, and the transaction was consummated on November 29, 2010. The station was assigned the WEVG call letters on July 12, 2011. The call sign change was made to eliminate confusion with WPPG (101.1 FM) in nearby Repton, Alabama.
The team's head coach is Mark Hodson of EVO Soccer Programs and formerly the Sand and Surf Soccer Club, based in Manhattan Beach, CA. Hodson is an NSCAA Premier License holder and has been a professional coach since 1999. Ben Holden of Bradford, UK, became the team's assistant coach in May 2012 to help manage the team at the 2012 Viva World Cup in Iraq/Kurdistan. The 27-year-old worked as a coach in Los Angeles in 2006 for a year; head coach Mark Hodson (whom he met whilst coaching in the US) called him and asked him how he felt about assisting him coaching Darfur United in June's Viva World Cup 2012. The 16 players who made up Darfur United’s squad were all former Sudanese refugees who, having escaped the war-torn area, got the chance to represent Darfur abroad in a global competition.
The license holder must produce a state form (DL-123) to prove they have insurance, requiring the signature of an insurance agent, in addition to a ten dollar fee, in order to convert the fleet license to a full license. Some states require that proof of insurance be carried in the car at all times, while others do not. For example, North Carolina does not specify that proof of insurance must be carried in the vehicle; it does, however, require that a driver have that information to trade with another driver in the event of an accident. Some states allow for an electronic insurance card to be produced on a smartphone Arizona Department of Transportation Research Project Manager John Semmens has recommended that car insurers issue license plates and be held responsible for the full cost of injuries and property damage caused by their licensees under the Disneyland model.
Other states have decided in case law that if efforts were made in good faith to conform to the statutes, the sign carries the force of law even if it fails to meet current specification. Still others have such lax descriptions of what is a valid sign that virtually any sign that can be interpreted as "no guns allowed" is binding on the license holder. Note that virtually all jurisdictions allow some form of oral communication by the lawful owner or controller of the property that a person is not welcome and should leave. This notice can be given to anyone for any reason (except for statuses that are protected by the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other CRAs, such as race), including due to the carrying of firearms by that person, and refusal to heed such a request to leave may constitute trespassing.
Stations such as KSFM, a predominate leader in the market as an CHR, were not on the new Hip Hop wave, creating the void KBMB filled. Reflecting the market's demographics, 7% of the Sacramento radio market is African American, so although KBMB was the only Black-owned station (Diamond Broadcasting, the original license holder) at the time, it relied primarily on white females 18–34 for its ratings and commercial appeal. While it was marketed as a Rhythmic/CHR in 1998 as a way to target beyond the core audience and to attract more mainstream advertisers to the station, it managed to maintain an unofficial urban format through its ABC Network affiliation and its own music selection. It was the home of the syndicated Doug Banks Morning Show, making KBMB one of few urban stations in the West Coast to carry a syndicated morning show.
The station was assigned the call sign KZTU on August 23, 1991. On August 12, 2004, the station changed its call sign to the current KXOR. On December 30, 2009, KXOR went off the air citing "substantial decreases in its revenue flow" over the past three years. In its application to the FCC for special temporary authority to remain silent, the station's license holder claimed that "losses have reached the point that the station no longer generates sufficient funds to pay operating expenses" and that the company is seeking to either sell the station or refinance and return to operation. The FCC granted the station authority to remain silent on March 4, 2010. Former branding Until going dark on December 30, 2009, KXOR broadcast a mixed Regional Mexican music and Spanish-language talk radio format branded as "La X 660" to the Eugene, Oregon, area.
During a series of inspections conducted by FCC agents from March 2001 to November 2001, they found that KWYZ had failed to "have operational Emergency Alert System (EAS) equipment" and "to conduct required monthly and weekly EAS tests" and had failed to "post the ASR number on or near the base of" its broadcast tower in violation of FCC rules as well as finding similar violations by sister station KSUH. After a January 2002 notice of these violations, licensee Jean J. Suh told the FCC that the station had modified its EAS equipment for automatic operation and that she did not own the KSUH tower but was leasing it from the station's previous license holder. The FCC issued a "notice of apparent liability" against Suh for violations by KWYZ and KSUH on August 28, 2002, for a combined total of $22,000. After determining that Suh did not in fact own the KSUH tower, they reduced the penalty to $10,000 in late August 2003.
In 1989, station manager Stefan Caunter, who had started in 1985 on the staff of the station, felt that the time had come to re-acquire a license, to provide real radio transmission to Glendon using mostly existing carrier current equipment. In 1990, CKRG was given approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to broadcast at AM 800 kHz with the transmitter power of 25 watts. Note that the company which was to be incorporated, Bayview Avenue Non-Profit Student Radio, was incorporated by Caunter in 1990, and was the license holder for the FM 89.9 license. In 1991, station manager Derek Allerton began to rebuild the station and put forth a serious effort to re-acquire an FM license, to broadcast at 200 watts on 106.3 MHz, to replace the existing AM carrier-current license (the signal was transmitted through the campus electrical system, rather than through the air) the station ran on.
The effect of the clause is that Clause V will not affect the statutory rights that belong to publishers under foreign regional arrangements. It was also held by the Court that copyright law is territorial in nature and while US might disallow restrictions on the resale of books, the laws of US may not abrogate the effects of laws in the place where those books have been imported. Thus the importer will be forced to comply with the laws of the country to which he imports and he cannot defeat the rights of the exclusive license holder. 2\. It was contended by the plaintiff that the importation of American Editions for the purpose of resale is an infringement of copyright. Importation: The court held that ‘Importation is forbidden unless a license has been given.’ The court said that the above idea needs to be respected as if it is not, then the purpose of granting exclusive licenses would be defeated, as would the idea of the national division of copyright which has been provided for in the International Copyright Convention.
During a series of inspections by agents from the FCC's Seattle office carried out over the period from March 2001 to November 2001, they found that KSUH had failed to "have operational Emergency Alert System (EAS) equipment" and "to conduct required monthly and weekly EAS tests", failed to "post the ASR number on or near the base of" its broadcast tower, and failed to paint or maintain the tower to ensure "good visibility" in violation of FCC rules. After a January 2002 notice of these violations, licensee Jean J. Suh told the FCC that the station had modified its EAS equipment for automatic operation and that she did not own the KSUH tower but was leasing it from the station's previous license holder. The FCC issued a "notice of apparent liability" against Suh for violations by KSUH and sister station KWYZ on August 28, 2002, for a combined total of $22,000. After determining that Suh did not own the KSUH tower, they reduced the penalty to $10,000 in late August 2003.
This station originally went on the air on July 30, 1957 as a daytime-only station with a power of 1,000 watts, using the call letters KHFH (Historic Fort Huachuca). This station was the first radio station in Sierra Vista and the third radio station in Cochise County. The first, KSUN in Bisbee, (now defunct) went on the air in 1933, and the second, KAWT (now KDAP) in Douglas, came to air in 1947. All three stations were owned by Carleton Morris and KHFH was the most powerful of the three. The studio was located at the intersection of Carmichael Avenue and DePalma St. (now 700 Carmichael Ave.) and the transmitter was located in an undeveloped area in the southeast part of town, now 2300 Busby Drive. In August 1958, the license holder requested permission from the FCC to operate at night for one night only in order to broadcast election result; the FCC denied the request. The station was finally granted nighttime operations on September 5, 1962 with a power of 500 watts with a directional pattern. At the same time that nighttime operations began, the studios were relocated to the transmitter site.
WXGZ's license to operate was put back into use in June 1994. License holder Ace TV, Inc., a corporation solely owned by Shirley A. Martin FCC Oks Journal Green Bay Duopoly With $2 Million WACY-TV Purchase, put WXGZ back on the air with the help of WGBA and its then-owner Aries Telecommunications, who arranged to put WACY on solid financial footing through the entrance of a local marketing agreement with Ace TV, allowing WGBA to operate and program WXGZ through its studios and sell advertising time for the station. At the outset, programming on WXGZ (whose logo was an ace of spades as a nod to its owner) consisted of second-run airings of off-network reruns (including such series as Gunsmoke, St. Elsewhere and Newhart), along with select airings of Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Milwaukee Bucks basketball games (which WGBA previously aired but no longer had room to run due to its own commitments with Fox). By the fall of 1994, first-run syndicated programming would be included on WXGZ's schedule, including Family Feud and programming from the Prime Time Entertainment Network syndication service.
In March 1992, license holder Hyden Broadcasting Company reached an agreement to transfer the license and assets of WJPH to Mayflower Broadcasting Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. On April 17, 1992, the station reported the involuntary transfer of control of Hyden Broadcasting from Jack P. Hyden Jr. to Opal R. Raines. The FCC approved the license transfer to Mayflower Broadcasting on May 7, 1992, and the transaction was formally consummated on June 8, 1992. Mayflower Broadcasting soon after became Webster Broadcasting. The new owners applied to the FCC to increase the station's effective radiated power to 25,000 watts and relocate the broadcast transmitter to a new site on Old Pinhook Road in Wacissa, Florida, in June 1993. The FCC accepted the application for filing on July 14, 1993 and granted the new construction permit on March 3, 1994. In the meantime, Webster Broadcasting owner Charles R. Webster died on July 1, 1993, and control of the station passed to Mary S. Webster as the executor of his estate. She immediately reached an agreement to transfer WJPH's license and assets to PCG of Tallahassee, Inc. An informal objection was filed by W.W. Gunnels, Jr., in August 1993 but denied in January 1994.
MyNetworkTV was previously the only major channel (network or programming service) that wasn't available directly from Joplin. KMYT-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma was the de facto MyNetworkTV affiliate in the western half of the Joplin market, while the eastern part of the market relied on Fox affiliate KRBK in nearby Springfield, Missouri, and before that, KWBM in Harrison, Arkansas from 2006 to 2009 and KSFX-TV (now KOZL-TV) from 2009 to 2011 for MyNetworkTV programming, but MyNetworkTV programming on KRBK was run out of pattern since 2011 when Fox programming moved to that station. The CW, on the other hand, was only accessible via cable television through cable-exclusive CW Plus affiliate “KSXF,” one of the many cable-only CW Plus and original WB 100+ affiliates with faux call letters. In August 2018, KFJX launched CW+ on digital channel 14.2, although some cable companies choose to stay with the same programming as “KSXF” (via a non-local nationwide feed of the network) and it is currently not carried on satellite. In Spring 2015, the station's original licensee, Pittsburgh/Joplin TV, LLC, has sold the station outright to DTV America, thereby making DTV America the sole license holder of the station.
WGBH radio studios in Boston (on Market Street, within the WGBH Guest Street studio complex) WGBH (89.7 MHz; branded as GBH without the "W") is a public radio station located in Boston, Massachusetts. WGBH is a member station of National Public Radio (NPR) and affiliate of Public Radio International (PRI), which itself is owned by the WGBH Educational Foundation, and American Public Media (APM). The license-holder is WGBH Educational Foundation, which also owns company flagship WGBH-TV and WGBX-TV, along with WGBY-TV in Springfield. The station, dubbed Boston Public Radio in 2009, renamed Boston's Local NPR, broadcasts a news-and-information format during the daytime (including NPR News programs and PRI's The World, which is a co-production of WGBH, PRI, and the BBC World Service), and jazz music during the nighttime. Prior to December 1, 2009, the station had a mixed news and entertainment format, featuring local jazz and blues programs, with the station tagline being ‘’Boston’s NPR Arts & Culture Station’’, to differentiate it from all news WBUR-FM, also located in Boston and known at the time as “Boston’s NPR News Station.” Following the rebranding, many of the station’s culture related programming was dropped in favor of nationally syndicated NPR, PRI, and APM programs.
