The plot revolves around the life of Elliot Sherman during the two weeks before his wedding, as he doggedly fights off the curse of his former Baxter role in relationships.

Le Grange explains to Yvonne, his girlfriend, that the captain gives him all of the maps showing the routes where English and American ships were sailing in New Orleans' waters. However, this time the captain informs Le Grange that he had something more valuable -- a casquette girl, Marietta, who was actually the Countess d'Altena, who has fled from France to escape a forced marriage with an aged Duke who she had left at the altar. Le Grange is pleased to hear this and asks where the captain has hidden her. When the captain states that Marietta had escaped from the ship and that he did not know where she was, Le Grange becomes furious and demands that she be searched for.

Niles and Daphne have a precarious courtship during season 8 after Mel forbids Niles from being seen in public with Daphne, and Donny retaliates with a lawsuit for the being left at the altar after Frasier confesses to Donny that he was the instigator of the breakup. Tensions arise, with Daphne blaming Niles for all their new relationship problems. Shortly thereafter, she gains sixty pounds (4 stone 4 pounds), but Niles is so blinded by love that he doesn't notice until Daphne falls to the floor and is too heavy to get up without the help of Frasier, Niles, and Martin (who remarks that "it took three Cranes to lift her"). The weight problem was written into the show to allow Leeves to continue working while pregnant.

Ted is the last to jump, and cheered on by his friends, makes the leap to the other building alongside them, and later accepts the professor job at the University. The episode ends with Ted, now Professor Mosby, in front of a class of students. Future Ted tells his children that despite being the year where he was left at the altar, knocked out by a crazed bartender, fired and attacked by a goat, it was the best year of his life. It was all worth it, because not only did it lead him into the best job he ever had but it also began him on the journey that would lead him to his future wife... as Future Ted reveals that she was one of the students in the class.

Vocalist Heidi Parviainen started working on Dark Sarah's debut album Behind the Black Veil after having made the decision to leave her former band Amberian Dawn. When writing her first lyrics for the song "Save Me", which is about a character named Sarah, who is left at the altar by her fiancé, and runs off into the woods in tears, she eventually decided to make a concept album which would be about the dark side of Sarah. It was also then that she came up with the name of her project. To bring her project to the attention of audience, she asked musicians Kasperi Heikkinen, Teemu Laitinen and Jukka Koskonen to record the first two songs "Save Me" and "Poison Apple" for what would turn out into Dark Sarah's debut album Behind the Black Veil.

Kim achieved mainstream stardom in 2002, with her Cinderella- esque leading role in Glass Slippers, about two sisters who were separated as children and unknowingly encounter each other as adults. Also starring Kim Ji- ho, Han Jae-suk and So Ji-sub, the drama was a hit with ratings of over 30%, and Kim received acting and popularity awards at the SBS Drama Awards. Glass Slippers was also successful in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam and with Kim's new pan-Asian popularity, she starred opposite Taiwanese actor/singer Vanness Wu in the martial arts movie Star Runner (2003). For Miss Kim's Million Dollar Quest (also known as Miss Kim's One Billion Won Project and Miss Kim's Adventures in Making a Million), she and Ji Jin-hee displayed their comedic chops as a girl left at the altar and a bankrupt playboy, respectively, who join forces in a moneymaking scheme.
