Le Dernier Cri is a Marseille based publishing house focused on publishing books, prints, silkscreens, posters and original art of visual artists that produce underground art. Pakito Bolino and Caroline Sury started the organisation in 1992. Besides publishing art le Dernier Cri also sets up other activities such as film screening, and expositions. They have published works of Matthias Lehmann, Mike Diana, Fredox, Marcel Ruijters, Pakito Bolino, Caroline Sury, Henriette Valium, Ichiba Daisuke, Matti Hagelberg, Stu Mead, Blexbolex, Quentin Faucompré, Moolinex, Charles Burns, Keiti Ota, Reinhard Scheibner, Frédéric Poincelet, Nuvish, Les Frères Guedin, Atak, Jonathon Rosen, Rémi, Kerozen, Laetitia Brochier, Stéphane Blanquet, Francis Masse, Manuel Ocampo, Andy Bolus, Dave 2000, Sven Baslev .... In 2014 the organisation organised a big exhibition called Mangaro about 40 years of underground manga in La Friche.

Entertainment available in the city includes Exhibitour, Concerts on the Square, Market Place Thursdays, Screen on the Green and the Hmong New Year. The only local daily newspaper is the Wausau Daily Herald, with a daily circulation of 21,400 during the week and 27,500 on Sunday. City Pages is a free weekly newspaper. Le Dernier Cri is a monthly newspaper that reports on local business.

In spring 2007, L'Association from France plan to publish a complete anthology of his comics. Another French collective, Le Dernier Cri, are working on a box set that will include the book from L'Association, an audio cd, and an anthology of all his drawings and paintings. Valium's web site was finalized in February 2007. In March 2013, some of Valium's art pieces were exposed at Espace Robert Poulin in Montreal.

A further revival and expansion came in the 1990s with several small independent publishers emerging, such as L'Association (established in 1990), Le Dernier Cri, Amok, Fréon (the latter two later merged into Frémok), and Ego comme X. These books are often more artistic, graphically and narratively, than the usual products of the big companies. Dupuy and Berberian, Lewis Trondheim, Joann Sfar, Marjane Satrapi, Christophe Blain, Stéphane Blanquet, Edmond Baudoin, David B, Emmanuel Larcenet all started their careers with publications at these publishers and would later on gain fame with comics such as Donjon (Trondheim & Sfar), Isaac the Pirate (Blain), Professeur Bell (Sfar).

He began showing his paintings and sculptures in the 1980s, and has exhibited at The LAB, Show and Tell Gallery, San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, Z Gallerie, and the Endeavor House in London, England. Rinne's graphics and articles have appeared in San Francisco Bay Area publications Frank, Processed World, Filth, Weekly Weird News, Flatter, and the Anderson Valley Advertiser, as well as Le Dernier Cri in Marseilles, France. In 1985, Rinne co-founded the sound performance group National Disgrace, and later the Bringdownz. These groups performed at Artists' Television Access, the Great American Music Hall and other Bay Area venues.

In 1989 Konture returned to Lozère. There he drew a few comics and continued Ivan Morve (a pun on "Mort-vivant," "living dead"). Ivan Morve is a series of half- autobiographical stories published in the pages of Psykopat. During the same period Konture started "Jambon blindé," an improvised comix commissioned by his friend Stéphane Blanquet. This new way of telling stories drove Konture to draw a series of "comix" edited by L’Association in the collection Mimolette. "Autopsie d’un mort vivant" ("Autopsy of a living dead") is a dark retelling of Konture's life. In these books all his characters reappear: Galopu, Mister VrO, and Ivan Morve — each of them represents the author’s mood. Mattt often draws with artist friends, publishing works such as Galopinot (L'Association) drawn with Lewis Trondheim, and, more recently, L'Abbé Noir (Arbitraire) drawn with Lilas and Willy Ténia, La Comète à 4 pattes (L'Association), drawn with Lilas, Willy Ténia and Freaky Nasa, and Borrut Popotte (Marseilles based silkscreen and publishing house Le Dernier Cri), drawn with Lilas.
