The Martand Sun Temple was built by the third ruler of the Karkota Dynasty, Lalitaditya Muktapida, in the 8th century CE. The temple was completely destroyed on the orders of the Muslim ruler Sikandar Butshikan in the early 15th century, with demolition lasting a year. He ruled from 1389 to 1413 and is remembered for his strenuous efforts to convert the Hindus of Kashmir to Islam. These efforts included the destruction of numerous old temples, such as Martand, prohibition of Hindu rites, rituals and festivals and even the wearing of clothes in the Hindu style.

In 1908 a party from the Yorkshire Ramblers Club descended the pitch and explored the way on for about before turning back when the route ahead became low and wet. The baton was not picked up for over 20 years, but in 1930 a party from the Gritstone Club finally reached the bottom after a long siege lasting a year and many trips, the key to their success being the lowering of water levels in The Long Crawl. Simpson Pot was explored through to Swinsto Cave in 1948 by members of the British Speleological Association.

The combination of beclometasone, formoterol, and glycopyrronium bromide has been shown to be effective at relieving symptoms of COPD in three main studies involving over 5,500 participants whose symptoms were not controlled well enough by either combinations of two other COPD medicines or by a muscarinic receptor antagonist alone. In the first study lasting a year, after 26 weeks of treatment the combination improved participants' FEV1 (the maximum volume of air a person can breathe out in one second) by 82 ml before a dose and 261 ml after a dose. By comparison, the FEV1 increased by 1 and 145 ml before and after dosing respectively in participants treated with a medicine containing only two of the active substances found in the combination (beclometasone plus formoterol).
