Rockfalls is a historic house at 7441 Rockfalls Drive in Richmond, Virginia. Built in 1936-37, it is a locally prominent early example of International architecture, based on designs by Edward Durell Stone published in Collier's. Its exterior is primarily granite and glass, the former probably quarried from a site on the grounds. It exhibits classical International elements including a lack of adornment, emphasis on horizontality, and clean lines with some rounded surfaces.

Sasabune is a Japanese sushi restaurant located at 401 East 73rd Street (between First Avenue and York Avenue) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. The décor of the tiny, simple, Spartan, bright restaurant consists of white walls that, as The New York Times put it, have "an almost severe lack of adornment". The restaurant has six seats at the blond sushi bar, 14 seats at nearby tables, and 12 in a back room. The sound level is quiet to moderate.

These elements of design were unlike the Russian styles seen up until this point. The Russian history scholar James Cracraft suggests that the clearest example of Dutch architecture designed under Peter's rule was his Summer Palace in St. Petersburg which was referred to as "Monplaisir" or "Little Dutch House". In a 1724 letter to the architectural student Ivan Korobov, Peter discusses his preference for the ornamentation of Dutch Baroque. In this same letter, Peter conveys his disinterest for the architectural styles of the French and Italian due to its lack of adornment and use of stone rather than brick.
