During these konpa, the members involved have certain roles that demonstrate a hierarchy and a distribution of power among the participants. For instance, a kohai is a junior: anyone who is younger than or less progressed in something, while everyone that is higher level is a senpai. With these roles in mind, each individual acts accordingly. In this case, the kohai accepts all drinking gestures bestowed by the senpai, and the senpai has the authority to offer as many drinks they like to the kohai.

Kohai (who?), Koau (I, me), mo (and) Momo (crumb) were in the Tongan mythology the first human beings created on earth. They came forth from the uanga (maggots, fruitfly larvae; apparently also in Tonga seen as a source of generatio spontanea). Their being-first status has elevated them from mere mortals into the realm of divinity, and added mystical significance to their names. According to one informant Kohai was a woman, Momo a man, and the third one was forgotten.

It is a possibility that these uanga people refer to the ancestral homeland of the Tongan people, known as Pulotu. Nevertheless, it is still customary for poets nowadays to recite or invent dynasties for the chiefs they want to please, going back to Kohai, Koau & Momo.

As Kushida focused in his confrontation with Ray Ohara, Chie then formed a tag team with the new HUSTLE Army recruit, her kohai KG. However, during a tag match, KG accidentally kicked Chie in the head, causing the team to lose. At the next show, the two were teaming up again when suddenly Chie turned on her and mercilessly attacked KG, causing the two to feud. Chie won their first match and badmouthed her after the bout, but one month later, KG retaliated by beating her in the rematch. Chie, impressed with her effort, reconciled with her and the two hugged in an emotional moment.

Momo (meaning: crumb) was the 10th Tui Tonga, a dynasty of mighty kings in Tonga, and lived somewhere in the 11th, maybe 12th century CE. He was named after one of the original gods of Tonga, a trio known as Kohai, Koau, mo Momo. It was under his reign that the Tui Tonga maritime empire started to blossom. King Momo had his court in Heketā, near the village of Niutōua (doubly planted coconuttrees), so named because a red and a white palm grew from the same hole. His people were known as the Haa-mene-uli (dirty bottoms tribe), because in order to honour him they had to keep their head lower than his, and thus shuffled around on their bottoms instead of their feet.
