Jumar, fullname Jumar José da Costa Júnior (born April 28, 1986), is a Brazilian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He was born in Bandeirantes, Paraná.

To prevent a jumar from accidentally coming off the rope, a locking carabiner is used. The Jumar is first attached to the climber's harness by a piece of webbing or sling, and then the Jumar is clipped onto the rope and locked. Two ascenders are normally used to climb a fixed rope. For climbing a fixed rope attached to snow anchors on a steep slope, only one Jumar is used as the other hand is used for holding the ice axe.

One such ascender device is a jumar, named for its manufacturer Jümar Pangit, a company in turn named after jumar inventors Adolph Jüsi and Walter Marti. The first iteration of the tool was sold in 1958. The device's name also engendered the verb "to jumar" for the process of using such a device. In jumaring, the second climber (the one who belays the lead climber on the route) uses ascenders to climb the rope instead of climbing directly on the rock.

Left and right hand ascenders Ascenders are mechanical devices for ascending on a rope. They are also called Jumars, after a popular brand. Jumars perform the same functionality as friction knots but less effort is needed to use them. A Jumar employs a cam which allows the device to slide freely in one direction but tightly grip the rope when pulled on in the opposite direction.

So, that night, Whillans was alone at Camp VII with no food after the others had descended. Estcourt was alone at Camp V and so Bonington went up there to help him support the lead team. The climb from there to Camp VI was even more tiring and Bonington scarcely managed the jumar climb near the top. However, he managed and even took the time on his way down to relocate the dangling rope and place further pitons on this pitch of the climb.

As she did so, something went wrong. As Wickwire explains: Wickwire looked back at the fixed rope and saw Hoey's open climbing waist harness still attached via a jumar. He couldn't compute at first what had happened, but later realized that her harness strap had not held, because Hoey hadn't threaded "the end of her belt back through the buckle (the only way to assure it would not come loose)". Retracing the route down, Wickwire found one of her crampons, but her body was lost below in the mountain's bergschrund.

The move generated excitement in the local community and brought many more high quality players to the squad. In addition, the Revs Reserves were formed to play in the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League as a way to develop talent in the local area. During the 2018 season, the Revs Senior Team's home matches were played at Warhawks Stadium at Henry County High School. This was the first time the team played in a stadium and also live streamed all home games. The team returned to the playoffs for only the third time and made club history by winning its first playoff game 3–2 over the New Orleans Jesters with goals by Ehjayson Henry, Jumar Oakley and Isaac Promise. In 2019, the club won its first trophy in its history. The 2018/2019 ADASL season saw the Georgia Revolution Reverves win the division 1 championship, winning the trophy and the entry into the 2019-2020 US Open Cup qualifiers. The team competed in the 2019 NPSL summer season, where the club finished 3-1-6 and 5th in the southeast conference, just missing out on the playoffs.
