Kristen Heather Gilbert (born Kristen Heather Strickland, November 13, 1967) is a former nurse and an American serial killer who was convicted of four murders and two attempted murders of patients admitted to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Northampton, Massachusetts. She induced cardiac arrest in patients by injecting their intravenous therapy bags with massive doses of epinephrine, an untraceable heart stimulant. She would then respond to the coded emergency, often resuscitating the patients herself. Gilbert's known victims are Stanley Jagodowski, Henry Hudon, Kenneth Cutting, and Edward Skwira.

High doses of ascorbic acid administered by intravenous infusion have been shown to increase the absorption of iron. However, in individuals with hemochromatosis (a genetic disorder where the body takes up and stores too much iron), intravenous ascorbic acid is contraindicated as high dosages of ascorbic acid may result in iron overloading and therefore, lead to life-threatening complications such as heart disease, diabetes, or tissue damage. The leakage can occur through brittle veins in the elderly, through previous venipuncture access, or through direct leakage from wrongly positioned venous access devices. When the leakage is not of harmful consequence it is known as infiltration. V-Set: Multiple line IV injection site whereby several lines can be used at the same time for administering drugs to the patient. In intravenous therapy a Y-Set, T-Set and V-Sets are Y, T and V shaped three-way connector sets made of connecting plastic tubes used for delivering intravenous drugs into the body from multiple fluid sources. As Y-Sets are the most common shaped sets, Y-Set is a name that is sometimes used to represent the family of connector sets (sometimes called Y-tubes). The majority of these infusion sets have a left and right hand line that deliver fluid and drugs (often via a valve) to a short common limb attached to the female fitting on the intravenous cannulae.

The cell line has been licensed to NantKwest, Inc. and is currently being developed in the clinic for intravenous therapy in hematological malignancies and solid tumors, for local intra-tumor injection, as effector cells for antibody-mediated killing via CD16 modified cells and as effector cells for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific killing. Fielding its strongest team ever yet still with almost no competitive experience in the international softball game, the U.S. Team this time consisted of three professionally ranked WPSA hardball players, including captain Bill Kaplan, David Boyum, and Stewart Grodman, former #1 player at StonyBrook College. Unfortunately, Stew Grodman sustained heat exhaustion in an early round match in the 100+ degree courts and had to be taken to a hospital for intravenous therapy. South Africa again prevailed over the U.S. in the finals, leaving the U.S. with another hard fought Silver Medal.
