In the season of 2005-2006, he won the Stewards' Cup (HKG1). In fact it was his second victory over that illustrious pair as they had also had to watch him go in the HKG2 Cathay Pacific International Mile Trial.

The Detroit Free Press/ TCF Bank Marathon is a race run every October in Detroit, Michigan, United States and Windsor, Ontario, Canada since 1978. The marathon course is international and has featured the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel for all but two years of its existence. The current course crosses the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel between Detroit and Windsor. Due to its use of the tunnel, the race is able to boast that it has the only official underwater international mile in the world, as the tunnel runs underneath the Detroit River.

Returning to New Zealand after the Cox Plate, the mare's owners revealed that Sunline had been part of a bidding war from five different countries, including the powerful Godolphin stables in the United Arab Emirates. All bids were rejected, and the mare was prepared for another trip to the rich, pre-Christmas international meeting in Hong Kong. In her final lead-up, Sunline raced away with the Auckland Breeders' Stakes at Pukekohe. In Hong Kong, she led all the way to win the International Mile (1,600 metres), narrowly holding off local icon Fairy King Prawn, with five lengths back to Adam, from Australia, in third place.

The US survey foot is defined so that 1 metre is exactly 39.37 inches, making the international foot of 0.3048 metres exactly two parts per million shorter. This is a difference of just over 3.2 mm, or a little over one eighth of an inch per mile. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the survey foot will be obsolete as of January 1, 2023, and its use discouraged. The main units of length (inch, foot, yard and international mile) were the same in the US, though the US rarely uses some of the intermediate units today, such as the (surveyor's) chain (22 yards) and the furlong (220 yards).

In 2015 he won the British Indoor title over 1500 metres, which qualified him for the European Indoor Championships, where he came fifth in the 1500 metres final. He then won British U23 and Senior 1500 metres titles, before going to Beijing at the end of August to compete in the World Championships. He qualified automatically in the heats and the semi-finals, but then came ninth in the final. In 2016 Grice won the British Indoor 1500 metres title, was knocked out in the heats of the World Indoor Championships and competed at the Eugene Diamond League, winning the International Mile race and setting a PB by almost two seconds.

Board ran two mile races early in the 1970 campaign, partly to build up stamina for the 800 m and partly with the aim of becoming the first athlete to represent Britain at all distances, the 1500 m being the only one missing from her collection. After running a solid 4:55.7 on her miling debut, she was selected for an international mile race in Rome on 16 May. Here she improved her personal best to 4:44.6, finishing second to a former mile world record holder, Paola Pigni of Italy. Her time moved her to No 2 in the UK all-time lists for the women's mile, behind only another former world record holder at the distance, Anne Smith.

The US Geological Survey now employs the metre for official purposes but legacy data from its 1927 geodetic datum has meant that a separate US survey mile ( km) continues to see some use. While most countries replaced the mile with the kilometre when switching to the International System of Units, the international mile continues to be used in some countries, such as Liberia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and a number of countries with fewer than one million inhabitants, most of which are UK or US territories, or have close historical ties with the UK or US. The mile was usually abbreviated m. in the past in the USA but is now written as mi to avoid confusion with the SI metre. However, derived units, such as miles per hour or miles per gallon, continue to be abbreviated as mph and mpg, respectively.
