The concept for what was to become WhereverTV was created by Mark Cavicchia while he was living in Shanghai, China after becoming frustrated with the complexities of trying to stream the 2005 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship tournament live on AOL by connecting his laptop to a big-screen television. He vowed to create an easy to use, portable channel guide that would work across devices and geographies and allow users to organize and watch TV online anywhere in the world. Upon returning to the United States in 2006, he wrote the patent application for WhereverTV's core technology - the Global Interactive Program Guide.

Thomson SmartVision includes all the features of Thales SmartVision, including support for on-demand and live video, video recording and time shifting, an interactive program guide with integrated search and scheduled recording. SmartVision allows operators to create and manage TV channel bouquets and pay- per-view services. The end-user can select a program or a channel through an electronic program guide or through a mosaic, and watch multimedia content on various devices: TV sets, PC, mobile phone and portable Video Players. SmartVision incorporates facilities to encrypt videos and interfaces with all major Conditional Access Systems to manage users’ licenses for live and pay- per-view services.

Luger says of the work, "I didn't do this alone, I did it on the shoulders of giants with a pile of bones under each foot." He emphasizes the collaborative process, "It took hundreds of people to make it." He organized the Lazy Stitch exhibition at the Ent Center for Contemporary Art, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, Galleries of Contemporary Art in 2018. In 2019, his work was presented in a one-person exhibition and performance piece, A Frayed Knot/Afraid Not, and an interactive program, Something to Hold Onto, addressing personal stories in relation to migration and border patrol issues at the southwest U.S. border.

The goal is to create a common hardware/software standard for digital cable television within the U.S., hence promoting competition among licensed device manufacturers, while at the same time making it improbable that any one software company dominates digital television. Tru2way is the brand name for interactive digital cable services delivered over the cable video network, for example interactive program guides, interactive ads, games, chat, web browsing, and t-commerce. The brand also appears as "" and is used to market cable services, applications, and devices that support the tru2way cable architecture. Tru2way is the successor, consumer-focused, name for technology known as OpenCable.

In 1982, Verostko developed an interactive program which produced a computer-generated light show called the "Magic Hand of Chance". It was a mere 32 kb in size and was written in the computer language BASIC on a first-generation IBM PC. The "Magic Hand" was capable of running for days without repeating itself. He went on to create his Hodos software, an integrated program of routines that, to his mind, attempted to mime some of the procedures he had used in his pre-algorist years. His first pen plotter, a Houston Instruments DMP-52, with 14 pen stalls, provided a rich palette of inks for his drawing routines.

Oculus Story Studio was an original animated virtual-reality film studio that was a division of Oculus VR. The studio was started by Oculus VR to pioneer animated virtual reality filmmaking and educate, inspire, and foster community for filmmakers interested in VR. Story Studio was founded in 2014 by Pixar veterans Saschka Unseld and Max Planck, as well as producer Edward Saatchi. The studio was publicly announced and premiered its first film, Lost, at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. In 2016 the studio's second film, Henry, won the Emmy for Outstanding Original Interactive Program. Oculus announced in May 2017 that the studio had been closed.

They are also commonly featured in digital video recorders such as TiVo and MythTV. Higher-end receivers for digital broadcast radio and digital satellite radio commonly feature built-in IPGs as well. Demand for non-interactive electronic television program guides – television channels displaying listings for currently airing and upcoming programming – has been nearly eliminated by the widespread availability of interactive program guides for television; TV Guide Network, the largest of these services, eventually abandoned its original purpose as a non-interactive EPG service and became a traditional general entertainment cable channel, eventually rebranding as Pop in January 2015. Television-based IPGs provide the same information as EPGs, but faster and often in much more detail.

In 1994 Zuckermann collaborated with Eric Britton, with whom he had worked much earlier on the Sundance Festival, to create an interactive program under The Commons for something they called "Consumer Holiday – The one day a year we turn off the economy and think about it". Shortly however they became aware of a well financed Canadian program with many of the same objectives, Buy Nothing Day, and decided to convert their collaborative project into an international support site that looked at a broader range of problems, ideas, paths and solutions, which would help to amplify and compete the Canadian project. Thus the International Buy Nothing Day program was born and continues to this day. Zuckermann moved to France around 1995.

The 12th of August, Origen made a special appearance on the award-winning news program Al Rojo Vivo hosted by María Celeste, which also airs on Telemundo. September 4, the band made its first appearance on Galavisión's Acceso Máximo; a live interactive program where viewers choose their favorite music videos and artists by text messaging or online voting.

The program—designed to meet California K-12 education standards for history-social studies—teaches children about the original inhabitants of the ranch, the Patwin Indians, on a recreated Patwin village located on the ranch. The interactive program is divided into six stations, each focused on a facet of Patwin culture and daily life. At these stations, RREC docents use replicated tools and materials to demonstrate the ways in which the Patwins were able to thrive and ensure generational survival using seasonally available resources and by employing sustainable harvesting and natural resource conservation. Another public part of the marsh is Grizzly Island Wildlife Area which is managed primarily for waterfowl, although over 230 species of birds have been seen here as well as many mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and fish.

ISP's Holiday Language Program (HLP) offers courses in French and English on a weekly basis during the month of July to all students from ISP and elsewhere from ages 3 to 18. Its mission is to motivate students to learn French or English with a fun and interactive program. Sessions are project-based in order to focus the various activities and fieldtrips around a common theme, which will promote meaningful language acquisition. On January 5, 2009, Lionsgate announced its intent to purchase TV Guide Network and TV Guide Online for $255 million in cash. Lionsgate closed the transaction on March 2, 2009.
