Bell Island is an island located off the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in Conception Bay. Measuring in length and in width, it has an area of . The subsurface is composed of Ordovician sandstone and shale with red hematite. It was once the site of large iron ore mines.
The leaves are in length and 8–30 mm in width. The inflorescences are specialised structures called pseudanthia, also known simply as flower heads, containing hundred of reduced flowers, called florets. The involucral bracts are coloured dull carmine, flushed with green. It is monoecious, with both sexes occurring in each floret.
Submerged leaves can grow 4 to 10 mm in length whereas floating leaves may only reach 2 mm in length. Submerged leaves are typically thin but may be wider in some cases making it harder to differentiate them from their floating counterparts which may grow 5 to 8 mm in width.
The morphology of the plant consists of a herb and its flower. The herb is erect, and the flowers have yellow sepals and multiple carpals. The herb has a green, oblong leaf with pinnate venation. These leaves are about 5–7 cm in length and 4–6 cm in width.

Dun Vulan is an Iron Age (c. 150–50 BC) broch located on the southern edge of the promontory; it is now protected as a sea wall. Excavations revealed an oval-shaped broch with a maximum diameter of 19.5 metres, with walls surviving to 4.5 metres in height and 4 metres in width.

The leaves are thin and needle-like, linear, flattened, smooth in texture and arranged pointing upwards on the stem. They are in length, 2 - 3mm in width, and terminate in a soft black acuminate point. They are glabrous and glaucous-green in colour. The petiolar region only tapers slightly into the leaf blade.
A single senjafuda measures 1.6 Sun (58mm) in width and 4.8 Sun (173mm) in height. This gives the senjafuda a ratio of 1:3. A frame is drawn inside this space which contains the lettering or pictures. In 1887 a measurement for this frame was also established as 48mm wide and 144mm tall.
Sewol was a RoPax ferry that was built by the Japanese company Hayashikane Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. () in 1994.
