Without Alvarado in Game 1, the Rhum Masters won and defeated Purefoods in Games 2 and 3 to sweep the series.

In 2004, that player turned out to be James Yap, who was drafted second overall by the team in the 2004 draft. Unlike Caguioa when he entered the league, Yap was already a well-known player, being a superstar in the collegiate and amateur ranks. He also appeared to be the perfect replacement for Patrimonio – he was popular, equally good-looking, and had the wholesome persona that the Hotdogs were looking for. Yap's popularity surged even more when he tied the knot with celebrity actress Kris Aquino and found himself being adored by the masses, including the non-basketball watchers.

The rivalry somehow wavered in the early to mid-90s as Purefoods, led by the then dominant Patrimonio, went on to win several championships while Ginebra struggled and found themselves languishing in the bottom of the team standings. It is no surprise that it was during this time that Purefoods recorded the largest winning margin of the rivalry; the Hotdogs trampling the Gins, 157–118, on March 10, 1992. In a span of nearly two years, Ginebra also went winless against Purefoods, which strung together eight consecutive victories against their rivals. Still, there were some note-worthy encounters between the two ballclubs during that period.

Muffler installed in a car (view from rear of muffler) The original equipment mufflers typically reduce the noise level from the tailpipe by bouncing sound waves off of the back, front, and sides of the muffler. They are designed to meet the maximum allowable noise level required by government regulations, however some original equipment mufflers are a significant source of back pressure. Glasspack mufflers (also called 'cannons' or 'hotdogs') are straight-through design mufflers which consist of an inner perforated tube, an outer solid tube and fibreglass sound insulation between the two tubes. They often have less back pressure than original equipment mufflers, but are relatively ineffective at reducing sound levels.
For only the second time in PBA history, the best-of-seven finals went into a full route. San Miguel Beermen came back from a 2-3 deficit and won the final series against Purefoods, denying the Hotdogs a championship in their first try. Initially, he had planned on naming the eatery the Granville Barbecue, but changed his mind instead taking the advice of a friend who suggested he call it White Spot in honour of a restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California—in part because the name sounded spotless and clean. That White Spot restaurant in Los Angeles has long since closed.

Later in the summer of 2003, Cooke returned to play in the Rucker Park Summer League. Cory Edwards sought to parody fast food in this episode, and described Big Dogs as "the dumbest, most hideous idea" he could think of. He felt that real fast food restaurants make poor attempts at variety, and parodied this with the disgusting toppings offered at Big Dogs. After completing the episode, he regretted that he did not include a long menu featuring all of the topping ideas that he had come up with.

Lucia Realtors as a rookie in 1993 by playing 60 minutes in a triple OT victory against SMB. Ironically, Jaworski owns the PBA record for playing the shortest time in a PBA game, at one second. In a game against the Alaska Milkmen in 1996 and behind by two points with one second in that game, the Big J fielded himself to handle the inbound. While the inbound was successful, the team failed to convert this into a basket and lost the game. Father and son go to a football match and eat hotdogs from their private box at Old Trafford, where an old school friend turned newspaper reporter enters the box and the two chat awkwardly for a few moments, the friend declaring that he would never leave his grass roots, talking of London and the people who "get bogged down with a lot of false values" – a sentence that is clearly aimed towards the boy who done good. The film then sharply cuts to scenes outside the stadium where Charlie is suddenly looking for the boy.
Echoing a time in the 50s and 60s when fast food culture "was just taking hold," Wells' approach to the major food groups of hamburgers, hotdogs, and diner fare such as pie, fries and soda pop transforms the "ordinary into the extraordinary". Wells' Urban Fruit Tree (2007) also contains these elements, but she has created gigantic variations in such pieces as the five-foot long Mustard Only (2007), the prolific Hamburger series(2008–2012), multiple iterations of Hot Dog (2007–2012), Donut (2010), Strawberry Cupcake (2010), Cherry Pie (2011), and drinks such as Corona (2008), 7 Up (2009), and Coke (2008–2012). In 2010, Wells did a series of food items that looked as if they had been enlarged and then dipped in gold or silver. Silver Cake, Silver Burger on Tray and Gold Burger are all included in this series.

Their native cuisine had less of an emphasis on meat, as evidenced by dishes they introduced like pasta e fagioli and minestrone, but the dishes they created in America often piled it on as a sign of wealth and newfound prosperity since for the first time even cheap cuts of it were affordable: the American recipe for lasagna is proof of this, as mostly it is derived from the Neapolitan version of the dish with large amounts of meat and cheese.
