The group became known from the YouTube video "SMC Hoodrats". It was filmed for a movie called Skatemaniacs, but also uploaded on YouTube in 2009. On the video, artists rap about good old times and hoods. It was directed by Pablo Films.

Women in gang culture are often in environments where sexual assault is common and considered to be a norm. Women who attend social gatherings and parties with heavy drug and alcohol use are particularly likely to be assaulted. A girl who becomes intoxicated and flirts with men is often seen as "asking for it" and is written off as a "hoe" by men and women. "Hoodrats" and girls associated with rival gangs have lower status at these social events, and are victimized when members view them as fair game and other women rationalize assault against them.

In the summer of 2009, he also released his own EP Kettoteippi In 2009, he became part of the four-member hip hop band SMC Lähiörotat alongside Avionin Prinssi, Erä-Koira and Thono Slowknow. The band had immediate success particularly with the 2009 hit / music video "SMC Hoodrats". In 2007, T-T signed to Xtra Mile Recordings and in 2008 his sixth album Capital was released, preceded by the 'This Gun Is Not A Gun' EP. With larger-scale production than his previous work, it included appearances from Andy Burrows (ex Razorlight drummer), Phil Sumner (British Sea Power cornettist), Jim Bob (Carter USM), Jon Boden (Bellowhead and Spiers & Boden fiddler) and Emmy The Great. Two further singles, 'A-Z' and '(We Are) The King of England' were also released. T-T recruited a stable band line-up, Hoodrats, including Ben Murray (ex Le Frange) on drums, Johny Lamb (Thirty Pounds of Bone, Lynched Recordings) on bass and long-term collaborator Jen Macro (Graham Coxon, My Bloody Valentine, Robyn Hitchcock) on lead guitar. Through 2008 and 2009 T-T toured Capital in the UK, US and Europe.
