He began work on creating a structure for the piece, as well as deciding how best to score and integrate the turntable parts into the well established orchestral traditions. The piece was finished in early 2004. It was played as part of orchestral readings events by the APO and NZSO but didn't receive its premiere performance until May 2005.

There is a high frequency of songs with lyrics that are demeaning, or depict sexual violence or sexual assault towards women. Videos often portray idealized female bodies and depict women as being the object of male pleasure. The misrepresentation of women, primarily woman of color, as objects rather than other human beings and the presence of male dominance in hip hop extends back to the birth of the genre. However, many female artists have also emerged in shedding light on both their personal issues and the misrepresentations of women in hip-hip and culture.

An especially notable artist is the genre's own pioneer Juan Atkins who released what is generally accepted as the first American techno record, "Clear" in 1984 (later sampled by Missy Elliott). These early electro records laid down the foundations that later Detroit techno artists such as Derrick May built upon.

The song helped popularized the dab dance, the origins of which have been disputed. Atlanta hip-hip artists frequently mentioned as possible pioneers have included Migos, Skippa da Flippa, Peewee Longway, Soulja Boy and Rich The Kid. However, the origins of the "dab" actually date back decades, to the "henshin" pose/sequence in Japanese popular culture, where it has commonly appeared in tokusatsu superhero shows such as Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (later adapted into Power Rangers) since the 1970s, as well as anime shows such as Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z (e.g. Ginyu Force, Great Saiyaman, fusion dance) since at least the 1990s.
It is traditional, among English-speakers, that at a birthday party, the song "Happy Birthday to You" be sung to the birthday person by the other guests celebrating the birthday, often when presented with a birthday cake. In the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, immediately after "Happy Birthday" has been sung, it is traditional for one of the guests to lead with "Hip hip ..." and then for all of the other guests to join in and say "... hooray!" This is normally repeated three times.

Chrisye was accused of plagiarism on two occasions: first in 1985 with "Hip Hip Hura" (said to plagiarise to Kenny Loggins's 1984 song "Footloose"), then in 1988 with "Jumpa Pertama" (said to plagiarise Sheena Easton's 1980 song "9 to 5"). This list includes song titles and their literal English translations, if applicable; song titles that do not need translation but have a possibly unclear meaning have notes after the title. Unless otherwise noted, all songs are in Indonesian.

The rappers provide the "cool, hip" factor while the corporations deliver the product, advertising, and financial assets. Tommy Hilfiger, one of the first mainstream designers to actively court rappers as a way of promoting his street wear, serves a prototypical example of the hip hip/fashion collaborations: Artists now use brands as a means of supplemental income to their music or are creating and expanding their own brands that become their primary source of income.
P.S. Krøyer: Hip, Hip, Hurrah! (1888) depicting the group's festivities Michael Ancher: A Stroll on the Beach (1896) The Skagen Painters () were a group of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the village of Skagen, the northernmost part of Denmark, from the late 1870s until the turn of the century. Skagen was a summer destination whose scenic nature, local milieu and social community attracted northern artists to paint en plein air, emulating the French Impressionists—though members of the Skagen colony were also influenced by Realist movements such as the Barbizon school. They broke away from the rather rigid traditions of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, espousing the latest trends that they had learned in Paris.
The work shows various members of what Krøyer referred to as the "guild" of Skagen Painters: a group of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish artists who formed a loose community in Skagen at the northern tip of Jutland in the 1880s and early 1890s. Hip, Hip, Hurrah! is typical of the work produced by the Skagen Painters; very much in the style of the French Impressionists and Naturalists, it celebrates the play of light in the scene (and in composition and subject draws obvious comparisons to Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party),Berman p. 135. but at the same time it harks back to the freundschaftbild tradition of artists of the Danish Golden Age such as Ditlev Blunck and Wilhelm Bendz in depicting artistic communities spontaneously drawing together.
