During the War of the Fourth Coalition, he was known as one of the Russian army's bravest generals. On 26 December 1806, during the Battle of Pułtusk, he protected the river Narew. For this heroic act he was given the Order of Saint George, 3rd class.

Ben, it turns out, has become an intern at the same hospital. A patient is pronounced dead prematurely by a Dr. Graham, but is resuscitated by Emily, who exhausts herself for hours in the process. Bahaa Abu el-Atta was a senior commander of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine. He and his wife were killed by an Israeli airstrike on November 12, 2019. Aged 42, Abu el-Atta was undergoing what some described as a "heroic act" at the time of his assassination. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the attack saying that Abu el-Atta was a "ticking bomb" who had been culpable for previous attacks against Israel.

Negan saves Judith and at her request, the dog too and carries her to shelter for the remainder of the storm. The next day, a recovering Negan is visited in the infirmary by a grateful Michonne. Negan calls Judith a spitfire and tells Michonne that she has been through enough. The two exchange friendly banter back and forth, Michonne having lost her hostility towards Negan after his heroic act of saving her daughter.

The first part of the work follows the original. The two works differ significantly after the failed marriage proposal. In Paris et Vienne two lovers eloped and attempted to make an escape, but after a while the girl is captured by people of her father and Paris travels in the East. The heroic act that contributes to the pair's reunion in the original is the release of the king from captivity, after he was arrested in an abortive crusade.

Thanks to the heroic act of Paul Clark and another Coast Guardsman and excellent medical care, Richard Bucheit and his wife Rita (Wilhelm) raised five children. Bucheit died in 1984 at the age of 68. The Trebinje theatre Slovo, which Aleksić himself had been member of, performed a memorial play, Epilog, about his life. In 2011, filming began for the movie Circles (Krugovi), which was inspired by the heroic act of Srđan Aleksić and directed by Srđan Golubović. The Republic of Serbia awarded him the Golden Medal of Miloš Obilić in 2012.

1 (2009): 107. She was the daughter of Pero Martin Maestro and Marina García, two well-off commoners from the town of Ajofrín near Toledo, Spain. María had many suitors growing up, but at the young age of 13 she made a vow of chastity and was determined to enter a religious life. This was seen as a heroic act, and despite her parents' numerous attempts to marry her off, María resisted "with the strength of a man".

Her deed and her father's courage are revered as noble acts of honour, courage and dignity in Sundanese tradition. Her father, Prabu Maharaja Lingga Buana was revered by the Sundanese as Prabu Wangi () because of his heroic act to defend his honour against Majapahit. His descendants, the later kings of Sunda, were called Siliwangi (). This tragedy severely harmed the relationship between the two kingdoms and resulted in hostility for years to come, the situation never again returning to normality.

While she is alone in the launderette, the "Walford attacker" (Colum Gallivan) attempts to assault her. Debbie manages to ward him off using self- defence, which leads to his eventual capture. Debbie's heroic act leads to her meeting Detective Terry Rich (Gary Whelan), who is investigating the case. He asks Debbie to act as his girlfriend in an under-cover stake-out being held in a restaurant, and after getting to know each other they begin dating.

Part 1 details Jun Do's upbringing in a state orphanage and his service to the state, including as a kidnapper of Japanese citizens, and later as a signal operator stationed on a fishing boat. Due to a 'heroic act' he displayed on the boat, he becomes part of a diplomatic delegation and travels over to America. However, as the trip to America was an unsuccessful mission, Jun Do and his team are sent to a prison mine upon returning to North Korea.

The game casts the player as Jack The Jester, in the fictional kingdom of Allegoria. When the primary > communicator fell mortally wounded, Lieutenant Murphy repeatedly attempted > to call for assistance for his beleaguered teammates. Realizing the > impossibility of communicating in the extreme terrain, and in the face of > almost certain death, he fought his way into open terrain to gain a better > position to transmit a call. This deliberate, heroic act deprived him of > cover, exposing him to direct enemy fire.

As the pair neared, they were assisted by two other men who dragged Stewart ashore, where he received medical attention before being rushed to hospital. Stewart subsequently died of his injuries the following morning. The coroner who investigated the incident commented on Kavanaugh's "heroic act", and noted that he should be decorated with the highest honour possible for the circumstances. For his actions, Kavanaugh was subsequently awarded the Surf Life Saving Association of Australia's meritorious award in silver and the Albert Medal.

John Greenleaf Whittier wrote a poem about this heroic act titled "The Three Bells". She had two siblings- a brother, James and a sister, Eleanor Watkins Reeves (the subject of her later work Lady in Yellow, and wife of Joseph Mason Reeves). Watkins attended E. L. Murison School in California and later, Gibbons School in New York City. At age 15 she moved to New York City, where her father began work as an editor for The New York Sun.

At the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Roger Casugay, Filipino surfer, was hailed as the first Filipino sportsman National Hero for rescuing his Indonesian competitor. Casugay was leading his event when Indonesian surfer Arip Nurhidayat encountered problems when his board was thrown up in the air due to the force of the wave. He was the First Filipino that was awarded with the Pierre de Coubertin Act of Fair Play Award by the Comité International du Fair-Play (International Fair Play Committee) in recognition for his heroic act.

The Coast Guard established an annual award named after Berry, issued to an outstanding aircraft technician who best followed Berry's tradition. In 2015 the Coast Guard announced that one of the new Sentinel class cutters would be named after Berry. All the ships in that class are named after enlisted personnel who distinguished themselves through a heroic act. Bollinger shipyards completed the USCGC Oliver F. Berry (WPC 1124), and delivered her to the Coast Guard, in Key West, for her sea trials, on June 27, 2017.

In addition to his connections with the sea and tempests, due to his mythical role as the slayer of the Yamata no Orochi and his historical association with pestilence deities such as Gozu Tennō, Susanoo is also venerated as a god who wards off misfortune and calamity, being invoked especially against illness and disease. As his heroic act helped him win the hand of Kushinadahime, he is also considered to be a patron of love and marriage, such as in Hikawa Shrine in Saitama Prefecture (see below).

His heroic act even pushes him into the political arena and he decides to run for Seoul mayor. Originally released in the USA in October 1918, the relatively short black and white silent film ran for 46 minutes and finds Charlie playing the new recruit in the war effort against the Germans. Charlie has no friends and seems to make enemies with his allies at the drop of the hat. Through sheer dumb luck, Charlie stumbles into the enemy trenches and captures 13 German soldiers. After this "heroic" act, Charlie is given the duty of infiltrating enemy lines further under the guise of a tree trunk.

Merit requires on the part of God that he accept (in actu secundo) the good work as meritorious, even though the work in itself (in actu primo) and previous to its acceptance by God, be already truly meritorious. Theologians, however, are not agreed as to the necessity of this condition. On 15 August 2016, the Coast Guard changed their criteria such that new awards of the "V" would be for valor only, to denote a heroic act or acts while participating in conflict or combat with an armed enemy. Luther rescues Alma by knocking Nicholas unconscious with a full body lunge from behind, the murderer is tied up to be arrested by the police with Kelsey explaining everything. Alma takes Luther's hand, grateful for his heroic act in saving her as they later marry at a small ceremony. At the end of the wedding, the wedding's organ music suddenly changes to the spooky organ music of the Simmons' mansion. Everyone turns to see the small organ's keys moving by themselves, hinting that there really is a ghost after all.

Legend has it that she knocked out a standard- bearer with her beater and took his flag. Catherine's existence has never been definitively proven, and her heroic act of mooning is likely pure fiction or highly exaggerated; Jean Badat, a historian who stood witness to the siege, made no mention of her involvement in the defense. The Patent Leather Kid is a 1927 American silent drama film which tells the story of a boxer who scoffs at fighting outside the ring... particularly for the United States once it enters World War I. Eventually, he is drafted, is shipped overseas, and performs a heroic act, which results in his being severely wounded. It stars Richard Barthelmess, Molly O'Day, Lawford Davidson, Matthew Betz, and Arthur Stone. The movie was adapted by Gerald C. Duffy (titles), Winifred Dunn, Casey Robinson (uncredited), and Adela Rogers St. Johns from the story by Rupert Hughes. It was directed by Alfred Santell.

Back in reality, Bree wakes up and is informed by a doctor that Orson has survived but is now paralyzed from the waist down. Lynette's heroic act during the crash has threatened the livelihood of the babies. A doctor diagnoses that because of the damage that has been done, chances are that the endangered child will most likely grow up with some sort of disability; which kind however is left uncertain until surgeons are able to properly investigate the fetal anomaly. During her transport to the operating room, Lynette imagines a future with a physically disabled son.

Female suicide became a common practice towards the end of the Ming dynasty and reached a high during the early Qing dynasty. There were many different ideologies and social circumstances which led to this spike. Historians such as Janet Theiss have stated that the Han had a practice of women committing suicide to preserve their chastity, while the Manchus had a practice of wives committing suicide to follow their husbands into death. The loss of a woman's chastity was viewed as shameful to the family so the act of suicide to preserve chastity was seen as a heroic act.

As the gods and demons churned the sea, the terrible poison Halahala issued from its depths and began to envelop the universe with its choking fumes. Gasping for breath, the devas and asuras sought the help of Shiva, who valiantly took the poison into his throat and swallowed it. But there are unexpected problems as Nick is unable to contact his comrades due to a broken transmitter, and is killed in an attempt to warn them. Berle is killed by the train driver, and when all hope seems to be lost, Lieutenant Yeager decides the outcome of the battle in a heroic act, in which he blows up the train with the missiles and himself on board, destroying the station assaulted by the Nazis. Ultimately, the only ones to survive are Fred (who is wounded but escapes into the French fields), Colonel Buckner, and Tony, who manages to return to Nicole.

His prompt and heroic act saved the life of one Marine at the cost of his own and undoubtedly prevented the enemy from penetrating his sector of the patrol's perimeter. Private First Class Johnson's courage inspiring valor and selfless devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Soon thereafter, around 1570, the Battle of Bun Garbhain pitted Camerons against their principal rival Clan Mackintosh. It was here that Donald, with his Lochaber axe, became a Cameron hero for slaying Mackintosh of Mackintosh, 15th chief of Clan Mackintosh, earning Donald the nickname Taillear Dubh na Tuaighe. When Donald went to Allan's family with news of this battle, Allan's mother, daughter of the slain Mackintosh chief, became enraged, and attempted to kill baby Allan. Donald intervened in time, saving the young 16th chief of Clan Cameron, another heroic act, but Allan's mother was banished from Lochaber forever.

The epic poem is also notable for the Humanistic treatment of the subject and the author's Petrarchan descriptions of Judith's beauty. Judith is interesting as a cultural monument as well as for its composition. The author's choice of a subject that simultaneously deals with an act of heroism and a crime shows suggests he privileged the literary structure (plot, drama) of the material, and only then considered its moralistic overtones. Thematically, the Judita deals with the story of the widow Judith who by her heroic act—the alleged treason, seduction and the murder of Assyrian general Holofernes—saves the city of Bethulia.

Gajowniczek was in the Vatican once again, this time as a guest of Pope John Paul II, when Kolbe was canonized on 10 October 1982. In 1994, Gajowniczek visited St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church of Houston, Texas, where he told his translator Chaplain Thaddeus Horbowy that "so long as he ... has breath in his lungs, he would consider it his duty to tell people about the heroic act of love by Maximilian Kolbe." Gajowniczek died in the city of Brzeg on 13 March 1995 at the age of 93. He was buried at a convent cemetery in Niepokalanów, 53 years after having his life saved by Kolbe.

The Outlaws' reign ended on the March 3 episode of Raw, when The Usos won the Tag Team Championship. Following Elimination Chamber, Wyatt feuded with Cena, with Wyatt wanting to prove that Cena's heroic act was a facade characteristic of "this era of lies" while also trying to turn Cena into a "monster". Wyatt went on to accept Cena's challenge for a match at WrestleMania XXX, which Cena won despite interference from Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. In May at Extreme Rules, Wyatt defeated Cena in a steel cage match, after repeated interference from the rest of The Wyatt Family and a "demonic" child.

His actions at the Battle of Cape St Vincent in 1797 made him a popular hero, but terrified Fanny that he might be killed in some heroic act. She wrote him a letter begging him not to repeat such antics, and to leave them to captains, now that he had been promoted to rear-admiral. Instead he went on further expeditions, leading from the front, and lost most of his right arm at the Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife later in 1797. Heywood's body was taken back to his home on 517 3rd Street West (which is still standing) and was buried in the city cemetery. At his funeral on September 12, 1876, the Reverend Delavan Levant Leonard gave the following funeral discourse on Joseph Lee Heywood: There was no Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation covering bank funds at the time. When robbers stole from a bank, the money was lost forever. As the story of Heywood's bravery became public, banks all across Canada and the United States honored Heywood's heroic act protecting the funds of his community by making contributions to his widow and young daughter that amounted to over US $12,600.

In the 1870s, the South was crumbling, and southerners yearned to preserve their culture and heritage. One preservation effort was Confederate Memorial Day, a series of celebrations that “became imbued with cultural and religious symbolism that underscored the gravity of what it meant to be a southerner.” Though some of these celebrations were ornate with speeches, poems, and prayers, the ones at Hollywood Cemetery were simple, and ultimately set the trend for future celebrations: a modest procession to the cemetery and decoration of the graves. Young men would also recreate Thomas Stanley's heroic act and climb the monument to hang a wreath from the top.

Zrinski's heroic act at the siege of Szigetvár made him a well known European Christian hero, a defender and savior of Christendom, and "a model of a faithful and sacrificial warrior in the service of his ruler". He was also compared to Leonidas I. His cult of heroism was especially preserved among the Croats, Hungarians, and Slovaks. In Croatia, it also represented a symbol of Croatian identity, directed against Ottoman, Austrian and Hungarian political influence. Similarly, he gained some popularity during the Polish struggle for independence in second half of the 19th century and early 20th century.

The Samnites would have gained significant ground in Campania by the time the Romans arrived and Valerius' two victories could be the outcome of twin Samnite attacks on Capua and Cumae. And while Samnite ambushes are somewhat of a stock motif in Livy's narrative of the Samnite wars, this might simply reflect the mountainous terrain in which these wars were fought.Oakley(1998), pp. 310–311 The story of Decius, as preserved, has been patterned after that of the military tribune of 258, but Decius could still have performed some heroic act in 343, the memory of which became the origin of the later embellished tale.

The Wyatts continued to interfere in Cena's matches, and at Elimination Chamber, caused Cena's elimination in the Elimination Chamber match. After Elimination Chamber, Bray Wyatt accepted Cena's challenge for a WrestleMania XXX match. Bonnie Dodd was a steel guitar player who wrote Tex Ritter's 1945 hit "You Will Have to Pay" and had been recording herself since 1937. The cautionary "Be Careful of Stones that You Throw" was very much in the tradition of moralizing recitations that Williams was releasing under the Luke the Drifter name; the song recounts the heroic act of a young lady who is killed while saving a child from a passing car, the same child whose mother had previously ostracized her. It was recorded at Castle Studio in Nashville with Jerry Rivers (fiddle), Don Helms (steel guitar), and Harold Bradley (rhythm guitar), while it is speculated that Chet Atkins played lead guitar and Ernie Newton played bass.

In the epic poem, the elder Zrinski is the main hero and has assured Zrinski's place in Hungarian culture as it remains in print today and is considered one of the landmarks of Hungarian literature. Compared to the Hungarian poem, which is an exception in Hungarian literature, the Croatian variation fits the Croatian literature tradition. Vladislav Menčetić's Trublja slovinska (1665) is the first Ragusan literature work that introduces the idea of antemurale Christianitatis for Croatian territories and celebrates Zrinski as a hero. Pavao Ritter Vitezović also wrote a related epic poem Odiljenje sigetsko (1684). In the 18th century, his heroic act inspired school dramas in Jesuit Gymnasiums, including Andreas Friz's Nicolai Zriny ad Szigethum victoria (1738).

At the unveiling of the statue there was a parade in his honor with the President, prominent leadership from the Catholic Church, governors, foreign dignitaries, and the family of other prominent Costa Rican heroes. There were musical performances and speeches emphasizing his heroism and sacrifice, some even comparing him to Christ. Other statues of Juan Santamaría can be found outside the Costa Rican Embassy in Spain, and in front of the Costa Rican National Congress in San José. The coat of arms of Alajuela was changed in 1908 to feature a hand holding a torch, symbolic of Juan Santamaría's heroic act in carrying the torch to burn down the enemy stronghold in the Second Battle of RivasCabrera Geserick, Marco Antonio. 2013.

Zenith (voiced by Yvette Nicole Brown) is an original member of the League of Freedom spoofing Thor though also with aspects similar to Storm, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman. She left the League of Freedom to host a popular television talk show called "A Talk in the Clouds" under her real name Portia Jones (a spoof of Oprah Winfrey) where she has a relationship with Courtney. Though Zenith and Rex got along well, Portia herself felt underappreciated despite her attempts to assist Rex as Portia, which later caused her to quit the team. Years later, she was convinced by Titanium Rex to rejoin the League of Freedom to take the place of Brad who was killed during a heroic act of saving the world.

While adjusting to prison life, Toni manages to save Roberto just in time when Hydra soldiers arrive at their cell. At the prison, Toni helps Roberto to defeat the guards and free Red Hulk from the controlling nanites, enabling them to take control of the prison. She then makes contact with Enigma, after she and Squirrel Girl help the Champions of Europe to defeat Hydra soldiers in Paris, and makes plans to have them return to the US. She also tells Enigma that she'll quit the Iron Patriot mantle so that their relationship can continue. During the course of this imprisonment, Toni lets go of some of her anger towards her father's sacrifice, a heroic act that should be honored.
