Putski appeared in the WWF again in early 1993, winning dark matches at the January 4 and 5 television tapings, but once again made no further appearances until a Madison Square Garden house show on January 17, 1994. He defeated Iron Mike Sharpe in the opening match and then returned in the main event, a 30-man Royal Rumble match, lasting about 12 minutes before being eliminated by Headshrinker Fatu.

On October 23, 1991, John Rambo regained the title from Cactus Jack in front of 15,000 fans at the University of Guam Athletic Complex. During this time, Barbarian challenged Ron Simmons for the World Heavyweight Championship at Halloween Havoc. He left WCW in 1993 and returned to the WWF in 1994 as Headshrinker Seone to form The New Headshrinkers with Fatu. He left the company in 1995 and made a second return to WCW, where he briefly reunited with The Warlord as The Super Assassins. Barbarian would then join Meng to form Faces of Fear and become a part of factions Dungeon of Doom and The First Family.

"Talk Tonight" is a song by English rock band Oasis, written and sung by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was released as a B-side on the UK #1 single "Some Might Say" along with "Acquiesce" and "Headshrinker" and appears on the B-side compilation album, The Masterplan, as well. In the United States, it was released as one of the B-sides to "Wonderwall". This song also appears in remastered form on the 2014 deluxe version of (What's the Story) Morning Glory?.

Their rivalry culminated in a match on the August 21 episode of Sunday Night Slam, which Luger won after Ted DiBiase distracted Crush. Afterwards, Crush lost a series of non-televised matches to The Undertaker in Europe in early September, and then subsequently left the WWF. In 1995, Crush returned to the WWF at Royal Rumble and took part in the Royal Rumble match as the #30 entrant. He eliminated Billy Gunn, Bart Gunn, Adam Bomb, and Headshrinker Fatu before being eliminated by British Bulldog.

In May 1994, Hirai participated in a few live events for the WWF during their Japanese tour as he took on wrestlers such as Doink the Clown, Headshrinker Samu, and The Smokin' Gunns. He also took part in a Royal Rumble. By 1997, Hirai began to move up the card. On July 25, 1997, Hirai teamed with Mitsuharu Kitao and Tommy Dreamer in a match for the vacated WAR World Six-Man Tag Team Championship but lost to Koki Kitahara, Nobutaka Araya, and Lance Storm.

Back in New England, Ferraro continued wrestling for local promotions. On September 23, 2006, he wrestled Greg "The Hammer" Valentine in a Dog Collar match for Powerhouse Wrestling. He also defended the NWW Brass Knuckles Championship against Moondog Maximus, losing to Maximus in a non- title match on October 7, before dropping the belt to Headshrinker Samu at an October 28 Ultimate Ring Wars show. Two months later, Ferraro wrestled Doink the Clown for USWF Championship Wrestling at the Irish American Club in Malden, Massachusetts.

He appeared in a season-five episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1960) "The Cure" written by horror writer Robert Bloch. Set deep in an Amazon jungle, Strong plays Luiz, a loyal native who speaks broken English and saves his employer, an oil explorer, from the attempted murder of his supposedly mentally ill and unfaithful wife. Something gets lost in the translation when his employer wants Strong to take her to a psychiatrist 200 miles down river, and he takes her instead to a native headshrinker. The denouement comes when Strong returns alone to the shock of his employer.

Lim-1 is a transcription factor we have learned about in class to control head and limb development. In our lecture, we learned that the primitive node will secrete the signaling molecules “Lefty” and “Cerebus” that then induce the expression of Lim-1, which will then induce formation of head structures. In one research article, “headshrinker mutants”, were also defined by the Ssdp1 gene being disrupted, which also seemed to be associated with defects in the head induction process. It turns out that this data showed Ssdp1 causing “defects in prechordal plate development and anterior truncations.” This data also discloses that Ssdp1 is a coactivator that enhances transcriptional activity with Lim-1 as a complex.

After being away from the spotlight for a while Samu returned to the WWF in 1995. Samu along with his cousin Matt Anoa'i were known as "The Samoan Gangster Party" with Samu being known as "Sammy the Silk" and his cousin Matt Anoa'i (son of Sika) became known as "Big Matty Smalls", and joined Samu as The Samoan Gangstas. The two men did not wrestle for the WWF but watched Fatu from afar as the former Headshrinker tried to turn himself into a positive role model for kids on the street. The angle was dropped as the Samoan Gangster Party never got in the ring or confronted Fatu before he was repackaged.

Though he and Cicero lost the IPWA tag team titles to Chris Stephenson & Big Slam in Chincoteague Island on January 9, 1999, Jackson and Cicero quickly regained the belts in Woodbridge on January 23. Gunn returned to the IPWA that same month and, winning the vacant heavyweight title, was challenged by Jackson. He won back the title, albeit on a technicality, but lost it to Johnny Gunn again in Chincoteague months later. On March 26, Jackson took part in an internet radio show hosted by Kevin Ross which featured a number of ex-WWF, ECW and independent wrestlers commenting on the then upcoming WrestleMania XV. Among those included The Honky Tonk Man, Headshrinker Samu, Devon Storm, Bobby Starr, Donnie B and manager Judge Jeff Jones.

The show was a charity event which raised over $1,000 for a local autistic boy. They remained undefeated for a record 3 months until an injury suffered by Featherstone caused the two to surrender the titles on January 6, 2004. Featherstone wrestled in a few single matches during the next few months. He wrestled Professor Egon Ecton and Headshrinker Samu in May and, with Scott Vaughn, defeated Egon Ecton & Pirate of the Caribbean in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania at the end of the month. When their successors, Nikolai Volkoff & Morgus the Maniac, were stripped as champions for failing to defend the titles within a 60-day period, Old School regained the belts in a tag team match against R.D. Lov’n & Deuce Donnatelli in Hagerstown on July 3, 2004.

The card consisted of matches that resulted from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portrayed villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches, with results predetermined by MLW's writers. Storylines were played out on MLW's television program Fusion. On June 12, MLW announced that the first-ever Battle Riot match would take place at the namesake event on July 19 and John Hennigan, Kevin Sullivan, ACH and Davey Boy Smith, Jr. were announced as the first four participants of the match. In the upcoming weeks, more participants were added into the match including Pentagon, Jr., Barrington Hughes, Jake Hager, Jimmy Yuta, PCO, Lance Anoa'i, Swoggle, Konnan, Sami Callihan, Joey Ryan, Jason Cade, Tom Lawlor, Jimmy Havoc, Brody King, Low Ki, Headshrinker Samu, Rey Fenix, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Homicide, Simon Gotch, Vandal Ortagun, Leo Brien and Michael Patrick.
