Researchers at the University of Bristol demonstrated that a large amount of the radioactive 14C was concentrated on the inner walls of the graphite blocks. Due to this, they propose that much of it can be effectively removed from the blocks. This can be done by heating them to the sublimation point of 3915 K (3642 °C, 6588 °F) which will release the carbon in gaseous form. After this blocks will be less radioactive and possibly easier to dispose of with most of the radioactive 14C having being extracted.

Ardill 2017 The citizens of Broken Hill suffered severely from the effects of the drought of 1940, and further prolonged dry periods in the early to mid-1940s, with enormous dust storms ravaging the city. Due to the success and popularity of the regeneration reserves, from 1946 the city administration lobbied the New South Wales government to complete the encirclement of the city with further regeneration reserves, and these were constructed to the north and east of Broken Hill between 1950 and 1958.Ardill 2017 The regeneration reserves created between 1936 and 1958 now primarily comprise the current Broken Hill regeneration area, with minor adjustments having being made over the years.
The marsh helps to clean polluted runoff in San Diego Creek before it flows into the estuary of Newport Bay. Until the early 2000s, the area was heavily contaminated with the pesticides diazinon and chlorpyrifos, which were successfully removed from the creek after the Environmental Protection Agency implemented best management practices in the watershed. Currently the largest freshwater marsh in Orange County, the San Joaquin was once severely polluted and degraded, having being used first as the Newport salt works and then as farmland. During the 1950s and 1960s, San Diego Creek followed a much shorter, channelized course to the bay, bypassing the marsh entirely.
Alexander having being captured at the Battle of Dunbar on 27 April 1296 and was only released upon agreeing to serve Edward I in a campaign in Flanders.Stevenson, Joseph (1870); Documents Illustrative of the History of Scotland from the Death of King Alexander the Third to the Accession of Robert Bruce. MCCLXXXVI- MCCCVI, Volume 2; p175 From entries in the accounts of the expenses of John Baliol when a prisoner in England with reference to a horse of Alexander de Baliol, it would seem that he shared the captivity of his kinsman. On 13 January 1297 Edward made a presentation to the church of Cavers, upon the ground that the lands of Alexander de Baliol were in his hands.

Hunnic invasion Mistreated by corrupt local Roman officials, the Gothic refugees were soon experiencing a famine; some are recorded as having being forced to sell their children to Roman slave traders in return for rotten dog meat. Enraged by this treachery, Fritigern unleashed a widescale rebellion in Thrace, in which he was joined not only by Gothic refugees and slaves, but also by disgruntled Roman workers and peasants, and Gothic deserters from the Roman Army. The ensuing conflict, known as the Gothic War, lasted for several years. Meanwhile, a group of Greuthungi, led by the chieftains Alatheus and Saphrax, who were co-regents with Vithericus, son and heir of the Greuthungi king Vithimiris, crossed the Danube without Roman permission.
Major General Senanayake was appointed the Army Chief of Staff on 22 March 2017, and was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and Army Commander by order of President Maithripala Sirisena on 4 July 2017. During his tenure the army was mobilised and deployed on several occasions, in aid of civilian authorities when a state of emergency was declared as a result of the 2018 anti-Muslim riots and the 2019 Easter bombings bring the security situation under control. On 21 August 2019, he retired from the army, having being promoted to the rank of General. He was succeeded as Army Commander by Major General Shavendra Silva, the Chief of Staff of the army.
Northern Ireland went on to secure a draw in Helsinki which secured them as group winners for the first time in national history as they became the first team in history to win a group having being ranked in pot five. Following Northern Ireland defeating Slovenia 1-0 in Belfast the team created history by going 10 games undefeated, former Manchester United keeper Roy Carroll and Head Coach Michael O'Neill both praised MacPhee's work with the players as they prepare for Euro 2016. Northern Ireland were drawn in a group with Germany, Poland and Ukraine and progressed to the knock-out stages after a historic 2-0 win over Ukraine in Lyon.
Having being impressed by Park Kwang- hyun's 2002 short film My Nike, Film It Suda CEO Jang Jin gave him a new project: to direct an adaptation of one of Jang's successful stage plays called Welcome to Dongmakgol. The final script was the result of 18 months of brainstorming between Jang, Park, and visual supervisor Kim Joong. The film was originally budgeted for around , as there were no big stars (mostly actors acquainted with Jang or affiliated with Film It Suda). However, filming and post-production CGI took much longer than expected, and the budget skyrocketed to , putting Jang's company in trouble: for a small production company like Film It Suda failing with this film would have been catastrophic.
Hence, Pentelute and his lab created an amino acid sequence consisting of phenylalanine, cysteine, proline, and phenylalanine, known as the pi-clamp, to selectively modify a cysteine site in proteins. Having being made from natural compounds, the pi-clamp reacts with a perfluoroaromatic reagent and the cysteine thiol site, thus causing an overall decrease in the reaction's activation energy. Additional advantages of this pi-clamping technique compared to non-natural methods include the clamp being of small size and being able to have direct interaction with the site. This new approach for modification of cells helped researchers target site-specific cells and label proteins without the use of enzymes, which makes the modification process more efficient.
Another example of the brothers' methodical research can be found in the construction of the, since demolished, Hampden County Jail. When first contracted for the design, the two not only consulted with county authorities through their several drafts of the facility's design, but personally travelled through a number of states to obtain the best working ideas for penitentiaries at that time. They were described by several accounts as having being known internationally, with projects engineered by them in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Central American nations as well. Toward the end of their partnership, one account reports their company established a department devoted entirely to commercial and residential structures as well.
The club, however, managed to retain its Football League status through this period, largely thanks to the high attendances at Fellows Park demonstrating a healthy desire for League football in Walsall. In 1958, following a reorganisation of the Football League, Walsall became founder members of the Fourth Division — now holding the distinction of having being founder members of the Second, Third and Fourth tiers. Under the management of Bill Moore, the club achieved successive promotions, scoring 102 goals on their way to winning the Fourth Division title in 1959–60 and finishing as Third Division runners-up in 1960–61. The league title in 1960 was the club's first in their 72-year history.
He later served with his regiment's 2nd Battalion, part of the 21st (Bareilly) Brigade in the 7th (Meerut) Division and the second of his regiment's two Regular Army battalions, in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign and the Mesopotamian campaign, including in the fall of Baghdad in March 1917. On 5 January 1917 he became his battalion's adjutant. He won the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) on 25 August 1917 and, having being confirmed in his rank of captain on 19 November 1917, was awarded the Military Cross (MC) on 15 February 1919 for his actions during the Battle of Megiddo in September 1918. The citation for his MC reads: Ritchie was also mentioned in despatches.
The "Shot heard round the world" is a term used in reference to one of the most historic goals in U.S. soccer history, which allowed the U.S. national team to make it to the 1990 FIFA World Cup after 36 years of failed attempts to qualify. This goal was scored in the qualification game between United States and Trinidad and Tobago on November 19, 1989 in Port of Spain. The U.S. team had not qualified for a FIFA World Cup since 1950, and the U.S. (having being selected by FIFA in 1988 to host the 1994 FIFA World Cup) wanted to give a good impression to the world of soccer by qualifying to the 1990 World Cup.
In its 2018 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, the University of Pennsylvania named the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation as one of the Best New Think Tanks of 2018, where it was listed as the youngest of 27 international think tanks having being founded only in August of the same year. It also marked the first time a Taiwan-based think tank made it to the category in the report since it was launched in 2008. "The ranking represents recognition of the TAEF's work and its high level of global engagement, and it shows that the international think tank community has paid great attention to Taiwan's NSP and its external relations," said TAEF Executive Director Alan Yang.
An average light reading is obtained from the device and the arrow on the circular panel is rotated across the value, yielding a range of aperture and shutter speed combinations that would properly expose the scene. The initial publication of Moonrise was at the end of 1942, with a two-page image in U.S. Camera Annual 1943, having being selected by the "photo judge" of U.S. Camera, Edward Steichen. In that publication, Adams gave this account: Adams' later accounts were more dramatic. In his autobiography, completed by his assistant and editor Mary Alinder shortly after his 1984 death, the traveling companions encountered a "fantastic scene", a church and cemetery near Hernandez, New Mexico, and pulled to the side of the road.
On 30 September 1821, following the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence, an Ottoman Turkish ship carrying Muslim refugees, after having being pursued by Greek naval vessels, tried to dock in the port of Zakynthos to obtain provisions. The local Zakynthians became angered given the atrocities committed by the Ottoman Turks against Christians in the Ottoman Empire resulting in the infamous Events of the Ipsolithos. Kyriakos Xoraphas by Ioannis Korais (the younger), 1826 A small group of British soldiers and their presiding officer attempted to ensure the refugees received supplies and adhered to the quarantine regulations. However, the local Zakynthians, some of whom some were armed attacked the British soldiers, killing one and wounding several soldiers including the officer.
Having being burned out by the endless chores and errands at home, and with her brother working with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montana, Kit, with no other choice, decides to go on an adventure with Will, who shared his experiences as a runaway teen leaving his family behind and resorting to morally questionable means to survive such as petty theft and faking illness to gain sympathy. Will reluctantly takes her and Stirling to the dangerous act of "riding the rails"—hitchhiking aboard freight trains, a common practice by destitute people of the time to find work. This fell through when Kit is arrested and jailed for her antics. Feigning illness, Kit escapes, but Will and Stirling are left behind.
A construction permit for a low-power television station on UHF channel 27 in Cleveland was issued on December 8, 1994 under the call sign W27BQ to North Georgia Television. On October 27, 1997, the station filed for a license to cover, which was granted on November 17. The call letters were changed to WTNB-LP on July 1, 1998; on June 12, 2003, the call sign was modified to WTNB-CA, after having being granted class A status on September 10, 2001. Under North Georgia Television, WTNB was a sister station to WDNN-CA and WDGA-CA in Dalton, Georgia; by 2005, WTNB and WDNN programmed similar lineups featuring FamilyNet and local programming, though WTNB's local programming was separate from that on WDNN.
Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co is a full service Indian law firm and is one of the largest law firms of India. The firm came into existence after its predecessor Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co was split into two after a dispute emerged between the two managing partners of firm who were heading the Delhi and Mumbai office separately. SAM as it is popularly now known is considered as Tier 1 law firm having being ranked amongst the top 3 Law firms in almost all major practice areas. The firm regularly advises some of the largest MNCs, Private Equity Funds and Indian corporate houses. Before its split, Amarchand Mangaldas was India’s biggest law firm with over 600 lawyers (almost double the size of the other large firms).
Early photographs show the station with the overall roof. Later photographs indicate major alterations had taken place, with a westward extension of the platforms - the join is readily apparent in the back walls to the platforms today, the roof removed, extra rooms at platform level added to the west of the station master's house and alterations to the frontage of that house. Interestingly the tall decorative upper chimneys are also shown as having being removed down to the basic rectangular stacks and conventional pots installed. The semi-elliptical brick arch bridge over Northgate Road to the east of the station, which like the station building is a Grade II listed building, has been credited to Frederick Barnes (who was a partner of Sancton Wood) and Charles Russell.
According to Richard Crossman, Bevan hated "the in-fighting which you have to do in politics.... He wasn't cut out to be a leader, he was cut out to be a prophet". In April 1954, Bevan resigned from the Labour parliamentary committee, having being rebuked by Attlee after accusing the Labour leader of surrendering to American pressure over a proposed multi-national defence organisation in Asia and the Pacific. He later said that he had resigned his position to "call attention to the fact that their movement was in grave crisis", and stated his belief that he would be have been party chairman by the following year if he had remained. In July of the same year, Bevan announced his intention to stand for election as the Treasurer of the Labour Party against Hugh Gaitskell.
David Mocatta and John Urpeth Rastrick of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway were the likely designers of this romantic, medieval castle-like surround. The octagonal turrets stand tall in the cutting either side of the turreted and castellated north portal. Along with its attached cottage (private dwelling) perched directly over the line, is one of the more unusual and photogenic railway features on the Brighton Main Line and is now a Grade II listed building, having being designated on 11 May 1983. The single-storey cottage over the north portal, which is built in contrasting red brick and sits curiously off centre, was added in 1849 for the purpose of housing the lamp-lighter, who was tasked with relighting the gas lamps in the tunnel after passing trains snuffed them out.
The crisis was continuing unabated, and in the evening of October 24, the Soviet news agency TASS broadcast a telegram from Khrushchev to Kennedy in which Khrushchev warned that the United States's "outright piracy" would lead to war. That was followed at 9:24 pm by a telegram from Khrushchev to Kennedy, which was received at 10:52 pm EDT. Khrushchev stated, "if you weigh the present situation with a cool head without giving way to passion, you will understand that the Soviet Union cannot afford not to decline the despotic demands of the USA" and that the Soviet Union views the blockade as "an act of aggression" and their ships will be instructed to ignore it. After October 23, Soviet communications with the USA increasingly showed indications of having being rushed.
Stratigraphic diagram of the Nanlinghu Formation at the Majiashan Quarry (the source locality of Sclerocormus is marked in red) In 2011, the only known specimen of Cartorhynchus was discovered in Bed 633 from the second level of the Majiashan Quarry near downtown Chaohu, Anhui Province, China; the rock strata in this quarry belong to the Upper Member of the Nanlinghu Formation. The specimen consists of a nearly-complete skeleton missing only part of the tail and some of the bones from the left part of the rear skull. The specimen's preservation likely resulted from it having being deposited in sediment right side down, thus leaving the left side exposed to the elements. It received a field number of MT-II, and later a specimen number of AGB 6257 at the Anhui Geological Museum.
Metro production (1980–1997) The Metro remained one of Britain's most popular cars throughout its production life, even during its final year when it was among the oldest designs on sale in the country. During its early years, the Austin Metro was Britain's most popular small car; often outselling the Ford Fiesta. It was still one of Britain's best selling cars by the time it was replaced by the Rover 100 in late 1994, with almost 1,500,000 having being sold (an average of more than 100,000 per year). However, despite reasonable numbers being sold in France and Italy, overall sales in Europe were modest in comparison to established rivals such as the Fiesta (which typically sold 500,000 units per year across Europe), meaning that BL still could not realise the true economies of scale.
On 7 December 1941, Major Hayton reported the sinking of the S.S. Chantala in Tobruk Harbour. ‘Appendix B’ is attached to his report: On Sunday, the, No.1 Section was detailed to escort 500 German and Italian prisoners from the POW camp at Tobruk to Alexandria, making the sea voyage by the SS CHANTALA. Loading operations were enlivened by two bombing attacks, first by a formation and later by a solitary German plane, both were beaten off by fire of an anti- aircraft vessel lying alongside the 'Chantala'. Shortly after 1700 hours, the last batch of prisoners having being escorted to their quarters below decks, the ship made ready for sea, a tug moving her slowly from the wharf and turning her into the channel, while all hands moved to ‘action stations’.
Castle Semple Loch was at one time around 4.5 miles long and nearly a mile wide; however, the loch was the subject of much drainage work between 1680 and 1774, resulting in around 400 acres of acres of rich land such as Aird's Meadow being made available for cultivation and grazing with a concomitant loss of surface area and depth of water. Some this had to be reversed to provide for mills powered by the Black Cart Water. In William Roy's map of circa 1747–1755 the peel is shown on an irregularly shaped isthmus extending from the shoreline at Lochside House and the Black Cart Water shows signs of having being canalised. By 1800 the water level had risen again and the peel is shown on an island.
Postcard of Westoe, 1904 pub, which backs on to Westoe Village The earliest recorded mention of Westoe is in 1072, which refers to a group of seven farms. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the village of Westoe was around one mile south of South Shields (which was in County Durham until the formation of Tyne and Wear under the Local Government Act 1972), and was gradually absorbed into the urban sprawl extending from the centre of the town. In contemporary usage, the term "Westoe Village" refers to a specific suburban road of the same name in the Westoe area of the town. It consists of Georgian and Victorian houses, many having being built by business leaders of the town, including those who owned mines and shipyards.
Later, due to the new zoning regulations introduced in Busan, the headquarters were relocated to the suburb that came to be called Taegeukdo Village.See Lee Kang-o, "Chungsan- gyo: Its History, Doctrine and Ritual", Transactions of the Royal Asiatic Society, Korea Branch 43 (1967), 28-66. Jo died on 6 March 1958. Initially, most of his followers accepted that he had designated as his successor Park Han-Gyeong, later known as Park Wudang (1917-1996, or 1917-95 according to the lunar calendar used by the movement), a schoolteacher who had joined the movement after World War II, after having being forced to join the Japanese army, and Taegeukdo continued as a united movement under Park for ten years, between 1958 and 1968. In 1968, a movement criticizing Park was led by one of Jo Jeongsan’s sons, Jo Yongnae (1934-2004).
Imperium is a professional wrestling stable performing in WWE's NXT and NXT UK brands, consisting of Walter, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner and Alexander Wolfe, with Walter being the current NXT United Kingdom Champion in his first reign. The stable was formed in the German promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling as Ringkampf, consisting in Walter, Barthel (then known as Axel Dieter Jr.), Timothy Thatcher, and Christian Michael Jakobi and, during the following years, worked on several European promotions. In 2019, Walter and Barthel signed with the WWE, having being assigned to the NXT UK brand and were paired with Aichner and Wolfe; the stable started to use the name Imperium, a new version of Ringkampf using the motto "The mat is sacred" (). During the stable's time in WWE, Walter became NXT United Kingdom Champion, while Barthel and Aichner became NXT Tag Team Champions.
He was then the Commander of the XV Corps and then promoted to the Senior Grade of Lieutenant Generals in 1992 and appointed as the GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command. He was on trip to attend a social gathering of officers under the Dimapur Corps Headquarters when his Mi-17 helicopter ran into a mechanical failure after a thunderstorm and crashed, killing him, his wife, his MA Col MN Ahmed (who was also his brother in law) and Lieutenant Lakshman Tyagi, his orderly Naik G. Thyagarajan, his personal bodyguard Havildar S. Vasudevan, and the IAF crew manning the chopper. His brother Major General Sultan Mahmood (retd) was in the Artillery and an alumnus of the 20th course of the National Defence Academy. His son Brigadier Adil Mahmood is an Armoured Corps officer having being commissioned into and commanded 16 Cavalry.
709 After defeating the largest Spanish squadron stationed in Cuba, the United States Navy continued dispatching warships to defeat the remaining Spanish naval presence on the island, as they had done upon the outbreak of war. The port of Manzanillo contained a significant Spanish naval presence in addition to being a haven for Spanish blockade runners, and the Americans had attempted twice before to destroy the squadron lying at anchor, with both the first and second attempts having being repulsed. On the third attempt, all U.S. naval elements in the area, reinforced by two Wilmington-class gunboats combined forces under the command of Chapman C. Todd to destroy the Spanish vessels once and for all. The seven- ship force split into three different groups and entered the harbor at the same time to ensure the Spanish vessels had no path of escape.
Following an injury-plagued stint at K-League side Chunnam Dragons which subsequently saw that club grant him a release early in 2013, Matt Simon re-signed with the Mariners on a one-year contract on 16 May. Citing increasing physical and mental stress associated with the constant commute between his home and personal training business in Sydney and the Mariners' home base on the Central Coast, Pedj Bojić sought and was subsequently granted a release from the final year of his contract with effect from 24 May. Bojić subsequently signed with Sydney FC on 19 June. Having being linked with a number of European clubs during the January transfer window, goalkeeper Mathew Ryan signed a 3-year deal with Belgian Pro League club Club Brugge on 30 May, in the process turning down an offer from Danish Superliga side Randers.
Many retain their timber-work but the small chapel is without a front wall and much of its second floor- having being dismantled and the stone masonry being used to maintain other structures. East Row has suffered the worse with the loss of many of the roofs whilst West Row is more sheltered. 1963 on, Many of the dwellings were beginning to attract attention from new buyers, in 1964 some of the houses were sold by the owner, Sir Robert Mowbrey to private purchasers where by large scale modernization took place - drains and a sewer system were installed (via a cesspit located next to the railway and river) and running water supply into the houses. British Telecom provided telecommunications to the street as late as 8 August 1995 - though it is unclear if this was to replace an older GPO system.
In the early Middle Ages, the University of Bologna—arguably the oldest university in Europe, having being established in AD 1088—and its bustling towns kept trade and intellectual life alive. Its unstable political history is exemplified in such figures as Matilda of Canossa and contending seigniories such as the Este of Ferrara, the Malatesta of Rimini, the Popes of Rome, the Farnese of Parma and Piacenza, and the Duchy of Modena and Reggio. The House of Este had a preeminent in the region's history for its politically and military might as well as the propensity of its members to become generous patrons of the arts, that during the centuries left behind a vast heritage of splendid Renaissance palaces, precious paintings and literary masterpieces, such as the works of Ludovico Ariosto, Torquato Tasso and Matteo Maria Boiardo.
Franz Marc Museum, Muenchen.De (German)Wilde Kunst, wilde Natur - Das Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See, ZDF Kultur, 23 September 2018 (German) In 2008, a new building was inaugurated, having being designed by Swiss architects Diethelm & Spillmann, and it opened up new possibilities for the museum's conception. It extended the exhibition space by around 700 m2, so that Marc's work could be put in the context of the 20th century art. Especially after the addition to the Franz Marc Bequest and the Franz Marc Foundation of the collection of the Etta and Otto Stangl Foundation, it became possible to showcase the work of Marc with the some of his other contemporaries, such as from the artists from the other German Expressionist group Brücke, and also post-World War II German and French artists, like Joseph Beuys, Per Kirkeby and Georg Baselitz.
During World War Two air raid shelters for ordnance survey staff were constructed in the park. After the war the park seems to have been largely abandoned before being converted into a car park in 1967. In the early 1980s the city of Southampton society and the Southampton Commons and Parks Protection Society became aware of the then car park’s status and the terms of the initial gift (at least in the case of the Southampton Commons and Parks Protection Society via an anonymous letter). Attempts to raise the matter with the council resulted in no action and an appeal to the Local Government Ombudsman was rejected on the basis of the car park having being constructed before the Ombudsman came into existence and the council not having been given enough time to put things right.

Just as the country club wanted to stay a controlled secret at first as a business strategy, one of the founding members, E. C. Potter composed a book in which select ownership of the book was determined to be that of a narrow list of individuals and no one else as it included the statement "For Private Circulation Only 1900" on one of the first few pages. It does not use the term "confidential" which kept elasticity in relation to copyright laws. The phrase simply prohibited duplication by any other publisher and warned that the book should not be loaned out in a library setting, as example. Entitled Midlothian melodies: Mnemonic Maunderings of the Merry Muse, it was composed with intent on passages having being read at various events and then compiled into a book form.
In April 1996, Calvo was appointed Minister of Culture of the Regional Government of Andalusia under the presidency of Manuel Chaves. Having being joined the Socialist Workers' Party in 1999, she was elected MP for Córdoba in the Parliament of Andalusia in 2000. She was in office between her appointment in 1996 until her appointment as Culture Minister of the Government of Spain. During her eight-years-term as Regional Minister of Culture, Calvo inaugurated the Museo Picasso Málaga of contemporary art in 2003, she negotiated the Andalusian Pact for the Book —a pact for supporting and promoting of reading— and she carried out important investments to reform churches, libraries and theatres —like Maestranza Theatre of Seville— as well as developing the Quality Plan for the Museums of Andalusia —which included the enlargement of the Archelogic Museum of Córdoba.
The division was renamed the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division and fought during the Second World War as part of the Territorial Army after the Territorial Force was disbanded in 1920. In June 1940, the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division was attached to French 10th Army and after a fighting retreat from the Somme the greater part of the division was forced to surrender, having being cut off at St Valery-en-Caux on the Channel coast. In North Africa, the reconstituted Highland Division was nicknamed the "Highway Decorators" in reference to the 'HD' insignia that adorned road signs along their axis of advance. By December 1947, the formation amalgamated with 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division to become 51st/52nd Scottish Division,Graham Watson, The Territorial Army, 1947 , v1.0, 10 March 2002 but, by March 1950, 51st Division and 52nd Division had been recreated as separate formations.
On this particular occasion Langsdorff was aided by the additional disguise of an extra funnel and main turret which had been added during Graf Spee's previous rendezvous with the Altmark. The crew of the Doric Star were subsequently made aware of the proximity of the Graf Spee when a small piece of shell landed on her forward deck - the shell had exploded about 100 yards off her port quarter, the shot having being fired from a range of 15 miles. Captain Stubbs, having arrived on the bridge, sighted what he thought was the masthead of a warship in the distance and ordered the signal R-R-R (I am being attacked by a raider) to be sent by the ship's wireless operator, William Comber. As the Graf Spee closed to within 8 miles another shell landed approximately 200 yards off the Doric Star's starboard bow.
After the season ended Mamić played in all of the B team's five preseason warm-up games and started the following season playing the second half of the first game against NK Solin and earning a yellow card. He was then benched for the following two games in light of transfer negotiations with Cagliari Calcio but returned in the following match against NK Novigrad after the 2016 summer transfer window had closed. He went on to play the next three league matches, earning a further two yellow cards but then missed the next game after having being submitted to the first team's final roster for the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League. Ultimately he was not chosen for the game squad and so returned in the next league match but was again benched in the next game when, due to many player's absences, six first team players came on.
Initial designs were inspired by contemporary American Chryslers, with twin headlamps and a light bar in the rear. In 1970, however, Chrysler reviewed the programme once again and decided to trim it down to just one version, to be built in Simca's Poissy factory in France, for all markets. The responsibility for the programme was then passed in turn to Simca (where it became known internally as "Simca 1800"), who gave the car a different front end with rectangular single front lamps, as well as stripping the interior of some features proposed by the Rootes Group team, such as genuine wood and leather and air conditioning. Much to the shock of the British engineers, the entire V6 engine programme was scrapped, even despite, allegedly, £31 million of the £38 million programme budget already having being spent, and the tooling for the new engine already installed in the Rootes' Humber Road factory.
265-268 In explaining why he had turned himself in, something that was unheard of from a mafioso at that point, Vitale claimed to have had a spiritual crisis and wanted to unburden himself. In 1977, Vitale's testimony led to 28 defendants being indicted, all of which were acquitted due to lack of evidence and the doubt surrounding Vitale's mental state by pointing out his erratic behaviour, except for himself and his uncle who were imprisoned. While testifying against his fellow Mafiosi, Vitale reminisced about his life: "I have made a fool of my life, by the evil that has rained on me from the time I was a child...
