The main places of interest are suggested by the ZEC: rivière des Bouleaux (River Birches), Petites Chutes Blanches (Little White Falls), Alex Grand Lake, Carrière de Granit (Granite Quarry) (at km 73), Damase Lake, Long Lake, Lake Alex, lac des Allemands (Lake of the Germans) (where a camp internment of Germans was opened in 1944 during the Second World War), lac des Hauteurs (Lake Heights), Lake Grandes Pointes (where a dam was built in 1930) and Lake Étienniche.

Alain Delbe (born in Douai) is a French writer, child psychologist and psychotherapist. In 1994, he won the Prix Alain-Fournier for his novel Les Îles jumelles. He is also the author of novels François l'Ardent in 1999, Golems and Le complexe de Médée in 2004, Sigiriya, le Rocher du Lion in 2012, one of a trilogy of novels. He has also published criticism in the revues Otrante and Hauteurs.

In 2010, a 1.5-hectare Asian plain was created, with Malayan tapirs, Indian rhinoceros, muntjacs, white-naped cranes, chitals, blackbucks, nilgais and fishing cats installed there. A second koala, baptized Joey, is also born. In 2011, a new area of almost 3 hectares called "Sur les hauteurs de Chine" opens, with takins, snow leopards, red pandas, northern plains gray langurs and Steller's sea eagles. In February, a female Indian rhinoceros arrives in the park.

Starting in January 2007, he spent three months at CAMAC and introduced his new novel Idegenek (Strangers) in French. In August 2007, he was invited to Switzerland by the Ledig-Rowohlt Foundation and spent three weeks at the Château de Lavigny International Writers' Residence.

Hendaye (Basque: Hendaia) is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. The town, France's most southwesterly and a popular seaside tourist resort, stands on the right bank of the River Bidassoa – which marks the Franco-Spanish border – at the point where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean in the French Basque Country. Hendaye has three distinguishable parts: la ville (the town), which stretches from Saint Vincent's church to the area around the SNCF railway station and the industrial zone; la plage (the beach), the seaside quarter; and les hauteurs (the heights), the villas and camping sites on the hills between and behind the other two areas.

The mouth of Archange Lake flows eastward along the bottom of a strait. The route of the discharge is 4.5 km (measured by water) flowing fully in Sainte-Thècle, recovering landfill of Lake Veillette (0.54 km long and discharging to the South) and "Lac des hauteurs" (lake of the heights) (0.54 km long and discharging to the North). The Archange lake is surrounded by several small lakes whose height "lac du Caribou" (Reindeer Lake), Marie Lake and Marguerite Lake. The mouth of the Archange lake is located 13 km north of the Catholic Church Saint-Tite through the "Chemin des Pointes" (Road of Tips) and 12.9 km from the Church of Sainte-Thècle through St. Joseph Road South.

Other Native American carved petroglyphs of a similar time period and region as the Piasa monster are carved into the rocks at Washington State Park in Missouri about 60 miles southwest of the current Piasa image. The 1797-1798 map of French explorer Nicolas De Finiels' shows the cliffs above the Piasa labeled as Hauteurs De Paillisa (source archives Versailles, France "Carte d'une Partie Du Cours Du Mississippi"). Author Hutchins, Thomas, 1730-1789" clearly shows the place name "PIASAS" where the present day City of Alton is located and bounded by the Wood River to the east. (this map is one of the earliest documented references for the word Piasa).
