Nameplate. Spring front. Spring side. Lindenholzhausen has the fortune of having its own mineral spring, known in standard German as the Sauerbrunnen and in local dialect as the Sauborn. Although documented in 1323 it was first put to commercial use in 1894, when Baron August von Rottkay leased the spring from the parish of Lindenholzhausen, named it the Lubentiusbrunnen (Brunnen = spring, well) and sold its produce as "superb, savory and salubrious table and medicinal water" ("hervorragendes, wohlschmeckendes und bekömmliches Tafel- und Medicinal- Wasser").

During the Christmas holidays, three groups of funny characters depart from Italy to spend the Christmas holiday season in New York City. Camillo (Lillo for short played by Christian De Sica) is a penniless pianist who has the fortune of marrying a rich woman named Milena (Fiorenza Marchegiani). However Lillo, although happy living in comfort with his wife and beautiful dependent daughter Carlotta (Elisabetta Canalis), is still in love with Barbara (Sabrina Ferilli), a beautiful Roman uneducated peasant with whom he had dated years earlier. He must be careful not to break his prenuptial agreement demanded by his father-in-law before he could marry Milena and gain access to her vast fortune.

Don Diego undergoes the same hardships (but ventures for five months, two more than Don Pedro) and meets the same fate as his older brother. After three whole years without hearing any news, Don Juan, the youngest and most favored son is (unwillingly by King Fernando) sent forth, in search of the bird. Don Juan however, has the fortune to meet on his way an old hermit who was impressed by the virtues and good manners of the young prince and knowing the mission on which he embarked, put him on guard against the treacheries of the bird. The hermit tells of the golden tree where the famed bird roosts every night after singing seven songs, warning of the spells in its seven songs which lulls the hearer to sleep and the excretion which petrifies anyone.
