Dtellas are moderately sized geckos that resembles house geckos. Gehyra species have toepads and powerful claws. Like some other geckos they also have a tendency to drop strips of skin if handled carelessly. Similar to house geckos, dtellas are able to communicate with clicks or chirps, although their chirp is often quieter than that of house geckos.

Sandersonia aurantiaca thrives in well-drained sandy soil enriched with compost and enjoys full sun, but not excessive heat (under which condition it requires frequent watering). A delicate plant, it bruises easily if handled carelessly. The growth habit is upright but lax, with plants benefitting from staking. Herbaceous perennials, Sandersonias die back naturally at the end of the season, surviving the winter in zones 9 and 10.

C. senex are medium-sized and agile, and can be frequently found inside the abandoned outer crusts of termite nests. They can inflict a respectable bite when handled carelessly. They're, however, not aggressive, and their nests tend to be sparse and mainly composed of satellite, queenless temporary nests under stones or bark. Very little is known about their biology as C. senex remains a poorly studied species, in spite of being so common.

In April 1889, a collision happened between Joseph Kellogg and the propeller steamboat Alarm. The collision resulted in the Portland, East Portland, and Albina Transportation Company, owners of Alarm, bringing a lawsuit in the United States District Court against the Joseph Kellogg, alleging that Alarm had sustained $140 in damage as a result of the collision. The claimants alleged that the collision was solely the fault of Joseph Kellogg being handled carelessly by Charles H. Kellogg, an unlicensed pilot. As a result of the suit, Joseph Kellogg was seized by the U.S. Marshal's service.

Pasteurization consistently removes all of these pathogens, though they can be reintroduced if the product is handled carelessly.

There is a longstanding tension between preservation of and access to library materials, particularly in the area of special collections. Handling materials promotes their progression to an unusable state, especially if they are handled carelessly. On the other hand, materials must be used in order to gain any benefit from them. In a collection with valuable materials, this conflict is often resolved by a number of measures which can include heightened security, requiring the use of gloves for photographs, restricting the materials researchers may bring with them into a reading room, and restricting use of materials to patrons who are not able to satisfy their research needs with less valuable copies of an item.
